I give bellagreen 4 stars because they wowed me the second time around. The first time I went I got a buffalo burger and I'm just saying hockey pucks had more juice to them. My cousin ordered the mahi mahi tuna salad and that one perfect so I was really jealous. I chose to not go here for awhile even though my girlfriend is a vegetarian. Today I have it another try. I'm glad I did this time. I ordered the Cuban panini and it was bursting with flavor. Not spicy at all and a perfect balance of sweet and savory. The sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked as well. I loved going to Ruffles Green when they opened. The food was plenty and good. Since changing to Bellagreen I thought I would give it a try. Went with my husband for Saturday morning breakfast. The breakfast menu has been scaled down and simplified. Only one type of bread. No jam or jelly. The 1 half piece of toast is cooked on the grill not in a toaster. Who just serves a half piece of toast? The portions of my breakfast were bleak. Looked to be about one egg on my plate and the grits had, what seemed like popcorn husk, in them. The two small pancakes were served with small amount of syrup but no butter. Have had this same breakfast before the name change, and never could finish it. Today I was left wanting more food. Not a satisfying experience. Will not be going back. Felt like serving breakfast there is an afterthought for them. Either serve a correct breakfast or just open for lunch and dinner only. read more

One of my favorite spots when I can't quite figure out what I'm in the mood for. Ruggles is great for both vegans and non vegans...I love that their menu clearly states what items are dairy free, gluten Free, and vegetarian. I am big fan of the veggie tacos!! The hummus is also really good. I think the veggie nut burger is a little misleading because I've seen a lot of vegans post about how wonderful it is, but I'm pretty sure the breadcrumbs in it are NOT vegan? I could be wrong. I have heard it's amazing though (if you are vegetarian). Before I became vegan I ordered the hemp protein brownie for dessert and remember that as being reallllly good. I am so happy this place came to the Heights. Before tasting the food I was already a fan. They preserved an aging building and brightened up the neighborhood. The food has been great each time I have eaten there. They have a huge selection and can please any type of eater. The salads are giant, so no leaving hungry. The church lot next store offers plenty of parking and is almost always monitored by someone with Ruggles Green, class act on their part. I love the outside seating and they even have chilled fans in the summertime. Only downside is that its near impossible to walk out of there under $10. read more

The idea is right, but--being honest--execution is spotty. The fries are often oversaturated with oil -- the white fries in particular are rarely crispy. The buns on the sandwiches can seem a bit tough around the edges as though they've been sitting out all day. The veggie nut burger is sometimes crispy and delicate, and sometimes cold and tough. And if it has mushrooms, watch out for a slimy mess. The stuff they try to do is great, and I want it to be great, and it sometimes is great. I'm not sure what it is, but I think of Ruggles in the Heights as good but not consistent. read more

From quality to service, this location goes by far exceeded, been there for the last week but before that my last visit was 3 years ago, when it was Ruggles but now I will keep visiting with my family and friends more often, love that Bellagreen is so involve with the community, my kids Elementary had a fundraiser supported by Bellagreen Heights just last night and the place was packed by kids, the restaurant isn't big enough to handle so many kids playing around but the team was so sweet with every kid and every parent, I got the chance to take pictures of the decorations since I loved them and needed ideas for my office space at work, so creative, as mention been visiting a lot lately and had the chance to meet the 3 managers and both expos and they hold that team really tight by communicating and complimenting, if something is missing there comes someone in the team and gets it, if there's trash, even the manager will take time to pick it up, if somebody can't reach something, even the cooks will help around, I love the vibe given, and the menu is so extensive, so inexpensive, so carefully design even for people with allergies, my cashier gave me so many recommendations that I'm glad she asked at the end if I had any allergies to be notified because I almost forgot I have dairy allergies and nicely she start to make sure everything was marked and supervised with the expo and manager himself, they kept checking every table if it's not a busser, a cashier, an expo, a manager or even a cook will help you out by taking your dishes, by cleaning your table, in multiple times an expo or a cashier have brought me my silverware to my table even a cup of water or coffee, keep it up team! The food is good, but customer service was not great. I ordered two simple meals to go, and they told me it would be ready in 15 mins. I got there to pick it up, and they couldn't find the order. Once they finally found it, we realized it was the wrong two meals. Not sure how this happened because when we ordered over the phone, the woman taking our order repeated it back to us perfectly. They apologized for the mistake, but did nothing to compensate us. For a nice restaurant like this, I figured they would at least throw in an order of fries or an appetizer. Some of the best food in the heights area, with so many different things to offer. The dessert is my favorite of any place in Houston. Sweet potato fries are also delicious. Parking to pick up to go orders is a challenge right now, we pulled around back and with the all the food delivery drivers whiping around and flinging their doors open into our car it was a stressful experience. My brother and I came here for the first tine because of the good things we've heard from our friends about the food. Indeed the food was good and it came out fairly fast, we got the fried fish tacos and one of the chicken pastas. The reason why I gave 3 stars is because of the customer service experience we had. The cashier lady (first name starts with an A) was rushing us when we were trying to ask questions about the food and we also got charged for one of the dishes we ordered twice (later on we got a refund for it, luckily I checked the receipt), and we got the fried fish taco even though we ordered grilled (the receipt said grilled). We also noticed that one of the employees had his mask completely down under his chin and was chatting to his coworkers in the kitchen from behind the cashier counter where they store the clean cups for drink. I'm really not trying to be difficult here but the overall experience was fairly unpleasant, but the food was good so I'll go to Bella's other locations from now on instead of this one. read more

My son and I dined at Bellagreen (Heights location). Our experience was wonderful and the food was excellent. We shared five menu items: Roasted Corn Chowder, side Caesar Salad, Quinoa Mac & Cheese, Sweet Potato Fries, and White Chocolate Bread Pudding. The Roasted Corn Chowder was delicious, a smooth and creamy puree with a rich orange color. (note this item was the mild chowder from the regular menu, not the Poblano & Corn Bisque from the special seasonal menu.) The side Caesar Salad was delicious, but beware that it contains several non-traditional ingredients including sundried tomatoes, pickled onions, toasted capers, a soft white cheese shred along with the parmesan cheese shred, and a notably mild dressing. Quinoa Mac & Cheese was so extremely delicious, definitely a rave 'n' crave item. The size and texture of the quinoa elbows were identical to traditional elbow macaroni, and the cheese sauce was stunningly delicious, creamy and light, with a lick-the-plate flavor much more addictive than typical cheddar sauces. Sweet Potato Fries were perfect: crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, lightly salted. White Chocolate Bread Pudding had a smooth creamy texture, lightly sweet, and was served with several sweet enhancements: a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a side sauce of two fruit purees to drizzle, a chocolate candy "trellis" as a decoration, and a fresh strawberry on the side. The outdoor patio was beautiful. Although it faces a busy street, the steel railing is surrounded by a relatively tall hedge that minimized the sight and sound of passing cars. As someone who eats gluten free, it's hard to find restaurants that truly cater to my needs. Ruggles has a little bit of everything for GF eaters! My favorites are the crab and shrimp pasta, fish tacos, and burger. Seasonally, they currently have a rice vermicelli bowl that is AMAZING!! It's full of crispy, colorful vegetables and has just the right amount of noodles. It's slightly spicy but bearable. I'm not a fan of spicy dishes but I can tolerate this one! The noodles are more like flat rice noodles versus actual vermicelli. As far as desserts go, try the gluten free hemp brownie with ice cream. So good! read more

We used to LOVE Bellagreen prior Ruggles Green, however, we ate there yesterday and the food was terrible. My husband's chicken tasted like rubber. Their homemade pickles, which are usually amazing, tasted like waterlogged cucumbers with no flavor. This used to be my favorite place to eat. We will not be going back any time soon. So sad that this place has such terrible service because we really used to love the food. My husband and I called in an order to pick up. I ordered a chicken sandwich with no pickles, no bacon, no ranch. I GOT a chicken sandwich with mustard (not on the menu but they put it on their anyway) and pickles. No big deal - we'll just call them and get a new one right? Nope! Not only did they mess it up AGAIN - no avocado on it this time but they had the audacity to charge my husband (if it were me, I would have refused to pay it but he is too nice to do that). When they asked what was wrong with it, he said "Well, I didn't mind the pickles because we can take them off but it was smothered in mustard". They replied "That's odd. The Ruggles Green on Alabama is the restaurant I'm accustomed to visiting. To me it's perfection. This restaurant is a different story altogether. I live in the Heights, eat out almost every day and have visited this restaurant twice, once to eat there and once to pick up "to go" food. The way the restaurant is set up is clumsy as folks coming in are backed up in the line (employees are so so slow at the Heights location!) and one must "beg pardon" many times to get out. It's quite the cluster. When eating in the restaurant on Sunday, there were 4 people in the restaurant (right after opening) before we arrived, no one outside yet. Staff weren't helpful to my friend in answering his questions. He was new to the Ruggles experience, has health issues and asked a few questions. Some eye rolling going on, didn't understand why. The Staff wasn't careful about the safety of the restaurant. The drinks are sort of wedged into a corner. Customers get their own. There was spillage, a pregnant young woman fell down in the water/soda that was there. It was scary for me. I believe she is okay. My chicken curry salad was great as always. My friend had a burger. He said it was okay, but too much bun (they are BIG buns, too!). When I picked up my "to go" food before the dinner rush I had to wait about 8 minutes for the food to be brought to the table I was directed to, to wait. I know this isn't McDonald's but the kitchen time lags big time. My total wait time after ordering was about 28 minutes. I called it in "to go" so I didn't have to dig my way out the door or fight for parking on the little lot next to the restaurant. (There is additional parking across 11th street, good during off hours but not fun during rush hour). The service and slow kitchen times are what I hear from my friends who have gone to the new restaurant in the Heights. Unfortunately they don't "Yelp" about it. So, for great food where you don't mind being inconvenienced, enjoy Ruggles Green in the Heights. It is better than the 11th Street Cafe, but Someburger across the stree is also better than the 11th Street Cafe. read more

One of my favorite places in the heights, I've visited this location about a handful of times and have overall have had some amazing experiences here with my family. The options available make it an easy going out experience as my family has very wide dietary restrictions and expectations. For the most part the staff here seems to be really friendly and easy-going. The food here is phenomenal. I would've loved to have given this review a full 5 stars, but unfortunately I've had recently dealt with a cashier by the name of Aubrey who's been blatantly rude with me on about two occasions. I've received dirty looks, and an attitude when I've tried to inquire about our bill. And after the past two experiences I'm almost convinced that if I go here again soon it won't be a pleasant walk in the park just to eat if I end up having to interact with her again. read more

Ruggles Green Heights is an AMAZING, Fantastic, A++ restaurant ! I was so excited to learn that about their new location in the Heights! Their service is extremely polite and well attended. I've gone there both late-night Sat. evening and lunch rush, weekday... and I've ALWAYS felt like family. Their staff with smiles, food... prepared with love ... DELICIOUS... A treat! I enjoyed EVERY moment of it! I Celebrated my 30th birthday there. The food was ~speechless~ . Took one bite and set my fork down. Was in for the most amazing dining experience ever! The staff was extremely courteous, Smiles from all staff, quick and polite. Our salads came to the table before we sat down with our drinks!!! I highly , highly recommend this restaurant! I have been to this location several times and had mixed experiences. I've had the grilled chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries twice and they are excellent. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about their breakfast. The BLT was dry and cold and the spinach omelette was extremely bland. One other negative is the price. For what you get, Ruggles seems $2-$5 more expensive per dish than other comparable counter service restaurants. All in all I am hesitant to give them another shot. read more
