Brought my daughter here while we visited Texas. I have been here a few times on company account and the food was great, service very attentive. Only complaint was the price! lol I remember if you come here during lunch, they used to give free cookies and it was amazingly yum. Dinner time, we have to pay $18 for 6 for a bite size cookies. Well, once in a lifetime and my daughter enjoyed the food and experience!

Another fantastic time! Took my brother, his wife to celebrate his birthday! It was their first time there and they really enjoyed it! Food was great because I was really craving the mac & cheese! great service, ambiance and steaks weren't bad either!

I'll start by saying I was running late for dinner, so I was not able to get the photos that I wanted. I'm going back in a week so I'll post more photos. Trey was our server. He was excellent My friends and I had a private dining dinner and everything was amazing The mashed potato's are the BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN IN ANY RESTAURANT!!!! I'll update in a few days with a better review.

I have been here a few times and I think it's a little overrated. The ambience and service is exceptional! The food is overpriced. We started off with queso - salty. The salad was shareable but the taste was okay. The redfish was flavorful. The espresso was okay. Parking is valet, garage or street parking.

As someone who loves guard and grace in Denver, the houston location was def not as great. It started with the hostess. We had lunch reservations and the hostess was preoccupied with a lady who was busy on the phone. Instead of greeting us, she kept watching the lady on the phone. We waited almost 10 minutes before the lady on the phone decided to step aside. That was ridiculous. Our server wasn't the worst, but def not the best either. He did a good job, but I guess I'm just use to Denver expectations. My mom ordered the "don't rush me" cocktail and said it was amazing. She was def impressed with this drink. I had a glass of sauv blanc and it was good. The food, below is everything we ordered: - split a wedge salad, chopped This is always my go to salad here and it didn't disappoint. Those bites of pork belly are so good. - braised Wagyu beef wontons I would pass on these. They lacked any wow factor and needed some more seasoning. - asparagus These were great. I love thick asparagus and they were wonderfully prepared - wagyu 4oz filet My mom really enjoyed this. This was the whole reason we came here and she was satisfied. - 4 grilled jumbo shrimp cocktail I have never had shrimp this soft and perfectly prepared before. This was the recommendation of our server and I'm glad he did. It really blew my mind how great these were. - oak fired octopus We get this every time we go to Denver and for whatever reason, this one wasn't as great. It was still good but something was different. I couldn't tell what. - chocolate chip cookies I def should have ordered some of these to go. We were given 2 and they were delicious. I just wish they had been warm. Houston has so many steakhouses and as a visitor, I would go to a different one next time.

We went to Guard and Grace on a Thursday, which was my actual birthday.... It was a first for all of my guests and the experience exceeded my expectations. Trey, our waiter, was phenomenal. Personable, attentive, and truly great at his job. We never had to wait for him or ask for anything. He was always present without hovering, which says a lot about his professionalism and awareness. The ambience was perfect...upscale yet relaxed. You can actually hear your guests and have real conversations without yelling like you're in a club or lounge trying to pass as a restaurant. Food was on point across the board. Those who had the red fish loved it. The brussel sprouts were really good. I ordered the bone-in ribeye and it did exactly what it was supposed to do... fully satisfied my steak craving. Portions were generous enough that the rest came back with me to the Airbnb. We flew in from Florida to celebrate and also visit our young adults/friends who live in HTX, and this dinner became one of the highlights of the trip. I already know I'll be checking out the Guard and Grace in Colorado this spring if it's anything like this experience. Excellent service, great food, beautiful atmosphere. A birthday well celebrated.

This one might be a little overrated for me. I had high hopes, but wasn't super impressed. The restaurant and ambiance is really nice. Wait staff was amazing. Our waiter had a great personality. Food: Crudo - ok Steak - was delicious Queso - salty Drinks - eh Rainbow roll - I could skip it Jalapeño roll - decent Crab fried rice - Butter cake - solid Asparagus - good. Normal steakhouse flavor

The kind of hospitality Guard and Grace showed us for our TYP networking event was NOTHING short of incredible. The staff was ABSOLUTELY amazing. The food? Delicious. The mocktails? Exciting. OMG we had such a great night! They hosted us in their space upstairs and we completely filled up the entire area. Anyone knows that this area is not ideal for parking but I'm so thankful that I was able to find parking on the road and walk to the restaurant. They gave us such a great variety of appetizers that I didn't even know what to eat first. So, knowing me.. I got them all! LMBO. I did not taste anything that was not delicious. (Yes, even the cheese options. Oops) Also, the mocktail that the bar staff made me make my eyes roll back. It was so bloody delicious and sweet and bright and comforting. How can a mocktail be all that? Idk. I'm not a mixologist. LMBO I will be back 10 times over!

Easy 5 stars! I visited as part of a large group. Our room was spacious and nice. The staff were on top of it, even though our group had special requests with people swapping seats throughout our four course meal. I highly recommend Guard and Grace if you're looking for a venue for a private event. The food and drinks were top notch. The appetizers, salad, main course, and desserts were all phenomenal. My choice for the main course was the Roasted Salmon dish. The salmon, crispy potatoes, and roasted cabbage came together to create a truly amazing plate of food! The cookies and chocolate cake for dessert were standouts for me as well. A great way to finish the evening. Located downtown, the parking is tough. But if you're able to make it into the restaurant, it's totally worth it! Would love to come back sometime to experience it separate from a work function.

Housssssston Restaurant Week = Delicious Dinner! Don't mind if I do. Location: Located in the bustling downtown one Allen center, this restaurant is in great walking distance for those who work near. Parking: The restaurant offers valet service for $15.00. Or if you are lucky you can find nearby metered parking. Atmosphere: It's swanky in here!!! And the house must've stolen my playlist because it's bumping in here! Love it! Cute date night, girls' night, executive client dinners, and much more. Food: We decided on this restaurant because of its HRW 2025 Menu. The food is good; however, it didn't wow me. We started with a Vietnamese salad. It was good and spicy, but not a show stopper. What really won me over with this menu is reading that they had crab fried rice, and it came with red fish! Yum!!! My dish was picture perfect, but what made it amazing was not the fried rice, it was the Soy Glaze I put on my fish. I requested it on the side and it was a hit. It comes with some other sort of butter, but I preferred the Soy Glaze. The third course was dessert and was also a bit of a let down. Ordered ths Sticky Toffee Pudding cake. The caramel sauce and ice cream was a bit and was needed because although the flavor of the cake was great, it was terribly dry. Not a 10/10 would recommend item. Service: Service was great. They even offer black cloth napkins, which I usually request. The only damper on service is that I clearly missed all the signs saying that there would be a SURPRISE charge on my bill... Chef's Share. Explainarion from our table host was... meeeeh, at best. Wasn't quite sure if they understood it as . I have no objections to paying it, but I would've loved a heads up. When you're excited to catch up with your person/group, it is easy to miss these things. User error for sure. Nice place. I may return; haven't decided just yet! Either way, take a trip and go try them out for yourselves!!

Made the mistake of coming here for a work lunch because now all I want is to eat here every day. It's such a beautiful restaurant and even though there was a line, we were seated promptly (even before our reservation)! The BuBu Bowl is an absolute life changer. And then, after all that, they bring you warm chocolate chip cookies with your check! Like come on. Our waiter, Travon, was amazing and even made my co-worker a sweet tea to go even though it wasn't on the menu. She's from Louisiana and said it was the best sweet tea she's ever had. They should really have "Travon Tea" added to the menu! 10/10, go eat here or never speak to me again :)

We had a GREAT experience at Guard and Grace this weekend for early dinner (reservation made through Open Table). Walking distance from Hobby Center for Performing Arts so we went before a show later that evening. Initial comments: Guard and Grace has a slight dress code in favor of fancy which made the atmosphere feel "proper." All the staff seemed excellently trained - very attentive and nice. Our server was Jerry and I cannot praise him enough - very knowledgeable about the restaurant and personable. G&G also charges a "culinary fee" on top of sales tax, etc - however - the food is great and they have several "complimentary" items for their bread and butter, chef's welcome app (for us was watermelon with vinegerete) and delicious warm chocolate cookies after the meal - so seemed acceptable. For appetizer we had the Beer Tartare which was a deconstructed version with mushroom: it was one of my favorite tartare I've had in memory. For mains I had an 8oz New York strip which was good but wish I'd upgraded to a better cut, and the crispy Brussel sprouts which are definitely "shared sides" style. My wife had the half chicken which came with grits and collared greens which was tasty. Again - I highly recommend coming - great hospitality and food. Shoutout again to our server, Jerry!

Ask the Community - Guard and Grace Modern Steakhouse

Do they sell wine by the bottle?

    Yes

    Is this place kid friendly?

Yes I see children all the time especially during Sunday brunch..

Is this place good for large groups (up to 12 adults)?

    What is the dress code?

Business casual is appropriate. No shorts. Formal attire is not out of place. I would however suggest another high steakhouse option in the city. There are many other options that are better overall and not exorbitantly priced.

Is this place good for an anniversary dinner for two?

Yes - this place is perfect! They have cute booths for 2 and the service here is impeccable. Let them know it's your anniversary and they'll be telling you congratulations over and over again.

I wasn't too impressed the first time, and this visit certainly confirmed my initial thoughts. For La Lucha's Happy Hour, you get a choice between 2 types of oysters ($1.50 each). These were great - do this on a weekday before 6pm and you should be able to grab a table without a reservation. Barely even after we started eating the oysters, the waitress was already asking if we wanted to order more, instead of allowing us to just enjoy our food without interruptions. The menus they gave at our table were inconsistent and had different menu items. I had to ask for clarification if the redfish was on the menu since it wasn't on two of the three menus given to us. So, quality control was a miss. Rest of the menu... is limited. Everything was so greasy, from the fried chicken, the redfish, and shrimp tacos. * Red fish with pecans - 6/10. The fish did not taste like it was seasoned with salt. It was well cooked, not dry at all, but it lacked any sort of seasoning aside from the butter and pecans on top. * Shrimp Tacos - 4/10. I think I prefer Taco Bell over this one. The shell was greasy, not crisp (felt like it was stale), and I was confused with the combination of American Cheese and shrimp. They also added hot sauce or spicy salsa in the tacos - so a warning if you can't handle spice (not mentioned on the menu). * Half Fried Chicken - 5/10. The chicken was moist. Been here once before and it was quite dry, so I'm glad this was cooked well. You get 2 thighs, a wing, and a drumstick (4pc). Again, there was a lack of any seasoning on the chicken itself & the exterior. Sadly, the sauce that we picked was not the best either - oyster mayo. It would've been nice to try the others, but the half order came with one sauce. The seasonal jam that was available was the peach jam. It went well with the biscuits (half order comes with 2 biscuits, any extra is $1.50). For my people who get cold in restaurants, I would recommend bringing a light jacket since they turn the A/C up.

We started by sharing a couple of appetizers - the smoked redfish dip and the biscuits. I'm weird about smells and aftertastes - and was hesitant to try the smoked redfish dip. The dip was flavorful and very smoky - the crackers it is served with were amazing. The aftertaste was tolerable, but a little fishy for me. The biscuits - I could write poems about them. I'd go back to eat baskets of just those biscuits. Highly recommend. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter - it was amazing. The catfish nuggets were crunchy and HOT (temperature), the fries were perfectly seasoned and the hush puppy was a crunch heard around the globe. Sadly, the shrimp and grits arrived to the table at room temp. The flavor was really good, but I was worried to mention the temp issue and have the kitchen nuke them in the microwave. The red beans and rice were similarly room temp and congealed. The restaurant atmosphere was lovely, the service was solid, and on a Tuesday evening we could have walked in and been seated quickly. Overall, it was a nice evening with our friends. Sometimes the company makes up for small disappointments.

We started with the deviled eggs and crab beignets, both of which were absolutely delicious. Their French onion soup was hearty. Drinks were fabulous too. Once we were seated upstairs, we waited about 10 minutes just to get menus -- my husband ended up pulling them up on his phone. When the server finally came by, we were already hungry and thirsty. He seemed very busy, so we quickly put in our drink order, but only half the drinks came out. I ordered a cocktail that never arrived initially, and my husband's Diet Coke was completely flat. The replacement was flat too, which makes me think the soda lines upstairs probably need attention. At that point we just focused on getting the kids' meals ordered. As the food started coming out, I noticed the kids weren't eating their shrimp and fries. After tasting the fries myself, it was obvious the fryer oil needed to be changed. I also asked for the restaurant's famous bread, only to be told this location didn't have any. My husband eventually just ordered a tea instead. The catfish my husband's friend ordered was not good at all, and while my dinner was okay, it definitely wasn't worth the price. The server dropped the check before even asking about dessert, and when we did decide we wanted dessert, it took another 15-20 minutes. To top it off, there wasn't even a bag provided for my to-go food, so I had to carry it the entire 3 blocks back. Overall, we were really not impressed and honestly can't believe we spent that much money for an experience where almost nobody enjoyed their meal
