Wouldn't except any of my sterling or 925 silver. And he didn't except any of my gold filled items . I was in there just a week prior and the ladys were wonderful. They were polite and professional . This guy didn't like me from the get go . I'm a 60 year old man. I had on jeans a sweater a leather jacket and brand new boots so he couldn't have mistook me for a homeless person . Which that shouldn't matter but I'm just looking for some kind of reason for his unprofessional attitude . Guy needs to find a new line of work cause he's not a people person and he lost the store not only money but a long time customer. If he is fired then i would go back but not until . Inherited a bunch of mixed sterling flatware. I know nothing about how to value or sell. I received an online quote from a "silver matching service" who explained all the reasons why silverware should not be sold to a coin store. Angel met me when I walked into the store. She was finishing with a phone customer and I could tell that she's a very patient and knowledgeable person. We talked about the different ways to sell silverware, and she said that it's unlikely that the by-weight value would match the matching service. Surprise! I think I need to go buy a lotto ticket. I stopped into Bellevue Rare Coins today as I was near Bellevue Sq Mall and found a number of items I'd love to own. Now I just need the money! ;) This is a great place to browse for anything from rare coins and paper money to antiques, estate sale items and fine jewelry. I found myself eyeing a lot of pretty gemstone rings and necklaces and noticed that the prices were much more reasonable than I would have anticipated. Offered help as I looked, I never felt out of place or spied on. As fancy as this store is, the employees are super respectable and helpful without either being too pushy or too suspicious of anyone who's stopping by. This allowed me to look at things (through the glass, of course) that I wouldn't ever afford! But hey, I'm a girl... It's fun to look at stuff like that! After my unfavorable experience with West Seattle Coin, I heard that this was a new location (at the time) so I wanted to see if it was better here than at their sister store. I have to say that my experience here was MUCH more pleasant than at WSC. They young guy who helped me out was friendly and honest and he took the time to explain the reasoning of their pricing when buying coins. I had come in with bulk wheat pennies to sell, again from my childhood collection. They didn't want to go through the 60 or so coins I had since it would have taken some time to go through them. I was mildly disappointed as I know that many were worth more than what I got from their bulk purchasing method. Anyways, I didn't have time to shop around and I took a special trip out to Bellevue just to sell, so I took what they offered. Anyways, they are much better than WSC. Make sure you shop around! I bought a coin from their W Seattle store and went to get a second gold buffalo coin at the Bellevue store and the price was jacked up, so I asked the owner to honor the price of his other store... he not only refused to match it but decided he was going to raise it by 20$ ... very nasty guy ... I paid it anyway since I'd promised myself not to blow my bonus (like last year) and invest it ... $3,400 in total business and his greedy itty bitty eyes couldn't see the forest through the trees, that future business from satisfied customers is much better than a scroogly mark up to spite your customer for catching you making a mistake commonly called "false advertising" ... Renton Rare coin is definitely better. Funny how this is the only business negatively reviewed by me that I haven't heard back from. I have been to their sister store "West Seattle Coins" a few times but, on a whim the wife and I decided to head over to bellevue and check out the store. We got lucky and found a parking spot right up front (the lot is VERY small so be aware that you may need to park elsewhere and walk over). We entered the store and it was pretty busy with all of the sales people helping customers. After a few minutes, some one did notice us and mentioned that we would be helped shortly and asked me to grab a number (they have numbers to make sure that customers are helped in order). I did so and proceeded to browse through their gorgeous show room. My wife and I loved the variety of items that they carried here from crystal and antiques to old coins, silver and gold bullion, and even jewelry. (Of course my wife went straight to the jewelry). After a little time passed Aimee came over to help us out. I am new to coin collecting and I have a lot of questions. Aimee was extremely helpful and patient with me. Answering all of my questions, showing me a large variety of coins and jewelery and sharing her stories of collecting with me. She happily ran back and forth getting prices for me and even scoured the back room when I mention how much I liked quirky and unique items. Just got back from here. Was so impressed. When I got there...I had about 10 people a head of me. They were busy. They got to me with in a half an hour. The wait is nice, they have snack and drinks set out for you. Chase helped us, and was super friendly. He explained to me the process. Which made me more comfortable. He also seemed just as excited as we were. I had scrap gold. Was shocked when they said I could get a certian amount for one chain. I was so excited, then when he weighed it was triple what he orginally had told me. I would have been happy with the first offer, and he knew it. Very honest. I will never go anywhere else. I've been in their Store only one time before and the former glowing reviews might have applied. They take Customer Service seriously there. They Pride themselves on it. But have no doubt, they are Sales. I did my homework before going in. I had gold, silver, diamonds and rubies. And yes, Justin didn't disappoint - he offered me 10% value. And even less. Leave your Ego out when selling your things, people. But he honed in on my 3.5 carat tennis bracelet like a Shark. He told me it was an incorrect weight, I corrected him. Well, who really knows, he shrugged off. There are Always variables. Aha..Justin was told by me as well that I was selling jewelry to pay my income tax. He thought I would be easy to sell to, is a great guess. When I scoffed at his Highway Robbery offering of LESS THAN 500.00, he said Well give me a number! I can talk to my manager! (He got excited... maybe a little defensive? I all at Once recalled the film Fargo in the Car Sales scene. ) So Justin came back from the back office after oh, 2 1/2 minutes. Good news, he said. Eric was there! And this was both unusual and lucky for both of Us! He offered me more than double. My 4,000.00 Ruby and Diamond Cocktail ring was only worth 250.00 bucks, too. Nah- couldn't offer more. Bellevue Rare Coins are Way too Big for their Britches. I took all of my belongings with me..Maybe I owe them a favor now? Shame on you, Bellevue Rare Coin's. One coin for which they offered $700 fetched $1,200 at a different dealer. Another coin for which they offered $1,600 we got an offer for over $1,000 higher! On a positive note, the staff was friendly. However, I feel completely ripped off. A wedding ring that we purchased from Zales for a couple thousand dollars, BRC offered us $174. A gold heart pendant with diamonds, with gold chain.. $64!! When I complained about the offers, I was told that there is up to a 10 times markup on jewelry. We had seven pieces total and was offered $910 for everything. Of course we could have walked away, but those items were just sitting in a box at home. So, reluctantly, we accepted the offer.
