We went back the next morning and I ordered their Breakfast Sandwich. I would normally never order this, I'm so glad I did! It did not disappoint! It was pure deliciousness!!! Ben Paris was a delightful experience. The service was incredible. We had a bilingual waiter and it was nice speaking in Spanish with him. He was attentive, kind and timely. I was surprised I hadn't stumbled upon this before since it's right next to the market. I would assume the food next to Pike wouldn't be as high quality given the tourist spot. We made reservations a few days before for brunch on a Friday. I'm glad I did because it was pretty packed! We were seated promptly upon arrival. We ordered ricotta pancakes, Ben Paris breakfast, and smoked salmon omelette. They were all delicious and generous portions. We were full and had some leftovers. We ordered a pitcher of mimosas and were slightly disappointed that the "pitcher" was so small, and was the same price as if we ordered 4 drinks. Since we were a party of 4, we all only got 1 mimosa. I figured we'd all get at least 2 for the price, $56. Parking can be tricky, but parking at Target isn't a bad idea as long as you're in and out within an hour, or pay before leaving. Overall, this is a great brunch location. The atmosphere is great and VERY cute. It feels like you almost aren't in Seattle. Location is fine, but the entrance did smell like urine since it really is in the heart of downtown. Bathrooms are on the B level and you do need a code. Definitely plan on coming back, but would love if management made a bottomless mimosa option or gave a slight discount if ordering a pitcher, or at least made the "pitcher" size larger since it was the same size as the water canister. read more

One server for the entire restaurant. He was working hard, but needed more help. We ordered the fried chicken, burrata and pear salad, short ribs with mashed potatoes, poke bowl, and truffle fries. The fries came out cold, so we sent them back. The fries had clearly been cooked and left to sit while waiting for the other food to be prepared. Everything else was cooked well and we enjoyed our food. A couple of other drawbacks to note. This is not a French restaurant as the name implies. Also, the bathroom is in a very confusing location. This a really nice place, and a great spot for big and small groups. We had a reservation for a very large group and still had to wait around 15 minutes before getting seated. I wasn't that hungry so opted for a side of the andouille sausage with mustard. It was great - super flavorful, juicy, and very well seasoned. When we were finally greeted, we were told the system was down so unless we had cash we'd probably need to leave. First time here! I ordered a Salmon Clam Chowder, Wagyu Sliders and Jalapeño poppers. The Salmon Chowder tasted amazing! It's very savory, and you could not taste the fishiness of the salmon which I adored! It also comes with garlic bread which I didn't expect at all so by itself is a complete meal. The Wagyu Sliders were also a 5/5. The soft and juicy taste you get from the first bite is to die for. There is a bit of saltiness which enhances the whole thing. The Hush Puppers were still fresh as it was the last meal I've eaten, and I would say I wish it would've brought out the taste of the Jalapeño a bit more! I have to get this out first: there is specialness at this restaurant that warrants these types of prices. $23 for a basic egg, potato, bacon breakfast, $19 for two pancakes, $10 for one pancake, $38 for a fried chicken meal, $19 salad + $8 for chicken or $12 for shrimp. Yes, l remember these prices because they were so outrageous. I ordered the basic breakfast with a pancake, easily a $40 breakfast after tax and tip. Completely unacceptable. I will say that you can see the folks cooking and preparing the food, and it looks extremely clean and fresh, but the taste was okay, I mean nothing special at all. I really liked the edge crust on the pancake but not enough to justify the cost. The vanilla anglaise that was served with the pancake was not very flavorful. I was never offered syrup. The bacon and eggs were fine, but the potatoes are not breakfast potatoes - just a simple roasted Yukon gold like potato (menu said fingerling but that is not what I got). They do have a nice expected touch of a granola parfait which was okay as well. The yogurt was unsweetened and topped with fruit and granola. I also had a cauliflower caesar, it was unique and good. I will say it's hard to spot the cauliflower, but that did but compromise the taste. However, I ordered chicken on the salad and what was the absolute wrong choice. The chicken was a nice size portion and had a nice crunch, but it was fatty and completely unseasoned. I could not eat it. I also had a PB&J ice cream sandwich dessert, which was $12 and delicious. The serving size seemed usual for the price. I'd go back to get this only. The service is okay. The server was nice, and had recommendations when asked, but not as attentive as I'd like. I needed seasoning for the tasteless chicken but never got her attention. I was full and wanted a to go box but I also couldn't get her attention. All in all, I feel the pictures on the website paint a different vibe, and I don't think it's worth the price. But if you must go, make sure to try the PB&J dessert. read more

It's a cute restaurant looked on the corner of Pike St. which is conveniently right around the corner from Pike's Market. Our server was great. Attentive and checked in on us to make sure everything is ok with your meal. If you come here you MUST get the Ricotta Pancakes. They came out hot and fresh which was a major plus even though I was burning my mouth because I'm an impatient girl. It comes with a vanilla bean anglaise that just adds to it. They used to have a happy hour tasting menu at $35 per person but it appears that they got rod of it. I did enjoy that experience and when I came back for dinner on New Years Day, I was really disappointed. The price and quality do not match up and oftentimes, the food is just straight up inconsistent. I ordered the truffle fries, eggplant, and octopus dish and I wasn't super impressed. The truffle fries are delicious and wonderful (if you get anything here, let it be that) but everything else was just subpar and overpriced. The "grilled" eggplant was cut way too thick and undercooked. The flavors felt disjointed and my partner and I both had stomach issues after eating this dish. It was missing a good char flavor and tenderness and two sad undercooked slices of eggplant didn't match up to its price unfortunately. The octopus dish was also mediocre with the vast amount of beans being disproportionate with the amount of octopus served. Overall, it isn't the worst possible food for a restaurant in a hotel but there are better spots to go to in the area. read more

I rarely leave one-star reviews, but my visit to Ben Paris was frustrating enough that I feel obligated to share.We came in expecting a great night out. The space looks stylish at first, but the experience quickly went downhill. The host was cold and unwelcoming, and despite several open tables, we were seated at a cramped spot in a high-traffic area. Not a great start. Service was slow and inattentive. Drinks sat empty for long stretches, and we had to flag someone down more than once. It felt like we were inconveniencing the staff just by being there. The biggest issue, though, was the owner's attitude. When I politely asked about modifying a dish due to a food allergy, he stepped in and responded in a way that felt dismissive and condescending. Instead of showing concern or offering a solution, he made it clear that accommodating the request was a burden. The tone was sharp, defensive, and completely lacking hospitality. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere not just for us, but seemingly for the staff as well. The food didn't redeem the experience. My entrée arrived lukewarm and lacked flavor. For the price point, it was underwhelming at best. To top it off, there was an added charge for the modification that wasn't clearly communicated beforehand. read more

Just beware the journey to the bathroom if you drink an extra cocktail... it involves an elevator ride and--in my case--asking the front desk to confirm directions! The burrata is a key choice appetizer and came with a crispy prosciutto, which was a delightful added taste and crunch. The fish special was halibut with a citrus greens salad and beluga pearl couscous (or some combo of some of those words... I can't recall it all precisely!). The only down side there was that the fish was a touch dry (overcooked, could have revived if it sat in more sauce to balance); my partner in foodie-ing, my hubs, said it was fine to him. I went here twice while visiting Seattle and staying within walking distance of the restaurant. This place had some of the friendliest service I've ever had while dining. The menu is great and changes regularly. My husband didn't love his pancakes and said they seemed more like cake than pancakes and felt the vanilla glaze on the side didn't have much flavor. However, he said the bacon was good and the eggs were some of the best he'd had. My chicken sandwich was good but did seem a bit too greasy. The fries were great as was my mocktail. On our second visit, I had the kale Caesar after enjoying it as a side the day prior. Out of the 6 girls that were there we all really enjoyed them - I did not get to try the duck but my friend enjoyed it What NOT to order: - New York strip. Now I'm not a huge fan of places that cut the steak for you and I'm trying hard not to be rude but that was quite possibly the worst steak I've ever had. It tasted like it had no seasoning where I had to request salt and there was something about the cut of meat that made it extremely tough to chew. Even when I chewed for long periods of time, it was very hard to swallow. One of the bites I had to actually spit it out because I felt like I was about to start choking on it. Very embarrassing. I finished it because at the end of the day I was paying $48 for it. Learned my lesson, sometimes you have to send things back. - Braised short ribs was also not a good choice. Lacked so much seasoning. The carrots on the plate were undercooked. And it was not tender at all! Overall restaurant needs some help when it comes to the environment. I'd like to give them another shot but given how disappointed I was last night I probably won't. We arrived on time for a 6:30 reservation and told they were running 10 minutes behind. That 10 minutes turned into over 40 minutes. No one ever updated us, offered a seat at the bar or even a drink while we waited. Once tables started clearing, people were seated who arrived after we did. We almost left but finally got our table. Service was friendly but very slow. We forgot to order baked clams in the first order and tried to flag the server who didn't come back until after our drinks arrived at which point the clams were sold out. Most of the food was liked by the 4 in our group but I'll say a $31 salad of mostly kale with 5 pieces of grilled shrimp left me disappointed. The restaurant is very pretty and nicely appointed, but being as small as it is with a full lobby was very awkward. We were basically standing over the other diners while they ate which was no fun for anyone. Especially for 40 minutes. They turned away a ton of walkins (no surprise given their location) so I would hope they would reconsider how many reservations they open up to ensure they can meet the expectation of seating time for people who planned accordingly. They'll have no problems filling tables with foot traffic.
