This is a new spot in the North End and is worth getting a reservation for and grabbing a meal at. The space is very small unfortunately which makes it feel cramped and slightly difficult to move around in. They do have windows that open up to get fresh air which is nice. Our waitress was very friend and helped us decide on our meals. Her recommendations were spot on and I enjoyed each plate I tried. I had the carbonara which was delicious. All of the pasta is homemade so it's extremely fresh and cooked perfectly. The eggplant rollatini tastes great, too. I'll be coming back to try the pizza. I had the Veal Francese over fresh fusilli pasta and it was delightful. Light and refreshing while being an incredible balance to tHe perfectly cooked Veal coated in the best egg batter and sauce combination I may have ever had. Delicious food with good gluten free options (love the gnocchi!) and pretty good service, have been twice and great meals and a fun time both times! They have to keep a window open to ventilate, even in the dead of winter which is pretty unpleasant when you're seated next to it - the table in the corner also tends to get worse service. Went on a Friday evening with my twin 10 year olds and husband. We made a reservation the day prior and the restaurant called to confirm it day of. The host was very friendly, our server, Megan (?) was awesome and the other staff was all great as well. The food was delicious! We ordered pizza's, lasagna, calamari and my husband got a seafood dish. Everyone, including the kids, loved it. The restaurant was open air which made for a fun and light atmosphere. Good place situated in little Italy and worth the stop if you have the time. We weren't too sure on where to go but this was recommended by a friend. Place was packed which was a good sign , our preference this time was sitting at the bar for quick service. We decided against apps and went straight for the entrees. Bar service was great as expected and the food also top notch. I definitely recommend any of the ravioli options and the margherita pizza is a stellar win. There were 6 of us and we had lobster, brick oven pizza's and fresh pasta. They catered for our vegetarian order, and any changes with ease and aplomb. Very nice place and atmosphere with lots of outdoor seating. I got the pasta fagioli which was a very large bowl of soup! For a meal I got the carbonara but it was also a large portion and after the soup and some bread I couldn't finish it. It heated up nicely later at home for another meal though. We had a party of ten on a busy Saturday evening. First, the good: when I called late in the week seeking a reservation, the manager worked with me to find a time he could accommodate our party. That's not easy on Saturday Night in North End; I appreciated his extra effort. Also, the food is absolutely delicious. Chicken Marsala was cooked to perfection. Lasagna was spiced just right. Finally, the wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. Now, the less than good: larger parties are seated in the basement which is Very LOUD. Three large tables in a smallish basement room with a TV and music made it impossible to hear each other talk. I couldn't hear my mother when she was speaking four inches from my ear. So, recommend you go here in smaller parties, eat upstairs or outside, and enjoy! read more

The place was packed. We got seated and wait a while to get to order. The mojitoes did not have alcohol and tasted like water. We got the wrong orders first, but it was salty. Then we got the right order and my plate the salmon was salty. I paid, did not complain to waiter until after I paid, because I hate people thinking that I'm trying to get the food for free or sometimes they do nasty things to your food. I told her after when she got the boxes To go because my plate was barely touch. The manager was an a**hole. He was screaming to the waiter before and did twice in different occasions. she told about my plate being to salty and he said to be more careful with the cheese and that said. we did not get any apology from him. I always recommend this place for people looking for a solid restaurant in the North End. While lots of the restaurants can be hit or miss depending on when you go, I always enjoy Bencotto the many times I've gone. They have one of the top 3 pizza makers in the North End. So get a pizza, there are so many to choose from, you can't go wrong. My favorite is the North Ender. But my favorite thing on the menu is the lobster ravioli on the appetizer menu. They do it best! If I'm looking for a great meal for just me, I'll go sit at the bar, get a glass of wine and the lobster ravioli. It's perfect. Just make sure you sit upstairs. When the window are open, it'll help feel less cramped but the basement, like most basement restaurants in the North End, is super cramped. read more

My companion and I had dinner at BenCotto early this evening. We were greeted and seated quickly and our orders taken quickly as well. We ordered glasses of Moscato and I ordered Shrimp Penne Broccoli while my companion ordered Boscaiola Pasta. Both plates were served fairly quickly and were delicious! The shrimp in my dish were large and very tender and the broccoli and penne were al dente and coated in a most delicious white wine garlic sauce. My companion loved her dish as well. Best pizza ever! I don't know what else to add. It was crazy good. I had the sausage with other toppings and my daughter had a meat pizza with gluten free crust. Both pizzas were a home run. I've never had an amazing gluten free pizza. I have no clue how they perfected gluten free crust and regular crust. The fig and prosciutto salad was just as amazing as the pizza. Only giving 2 stars because our food was good. However everything else was awful. First we were sat in the basement which was over crowded with tables and it was extremely hot, even though it was a cool night. We ordered our drinks and then Our waiter told us we couldn't order our appetizers and entrees separately. Our appetizer came out first, and not even 5 minutes later our entrees showed up on the table. Still no drinks. Our drinks finally arrived 10 minutes later. I expressed our frustration to our server who offered a dessert which we didn't want. He said he'll see what he could do. When we got the check nothing was comped and we were so desperate to get out of there I didn't even bother asking him again. Food was good, but not worth the terrible dining experience. read more
