Whew where do I start. Ima start with the food was awesome our chef was the best "Chef Dakwon" he had an amazing amount of energy and enthusiasm. My children loved him they thought he was funny! He prepared our food perfectly everything was delicious!!! The negative side of things! I just knew by making reservations on open table I was going to get there and the table was going to be ready. I was absolutely wrong. I am not from the area but have heard great things about their food. So I thought I'd give it a try with my family. Our open table reservation was for like 8 WE DID NOT SIT AT OUR TABLE UNTIL 10:30! Mind you they close at 10. We were the last table leaving at 12:15ish. It was beyond ridiculous how long we had to wait. They need to have accurate information for reservations. I have never been in a restaurant that long in my life. I came here with a group of friends on a Friday evening. We had to wait a while to be seated. Once seated we got waters and put in our drink orders. My friend ordered a regular lemonade and did not receive it until we asked twice. I was expecting the usual hibachi experience where the cook gives a little show while preparing the meal, but did not receive that. The guy just cooked the food real quick and gave it to us. We have been here since 5:30. It is now 8:05. We had 6pm reservations. Is this the way Veterans are treated on our day of honor? We have had 3 different people. Hostess took our drinks. They never came. Then server came took our drinks. But took appx another 45 min. Silver ware salad and soup came together at 7: 45. Now the cook is about to cook and it's 8:20. 2 other tables have eaten before us. We were seated after 7 before the other table and they are just about finished and he's cleaning the stove. THIS IS NOT EXCEPTABLE AT ALL!!!!!! I used to love coming here with my family. We have spent lots of money at this location. Well NO more. We are finished. Good bye Benihana. This was by far the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. It is a scam. The very long wait (~1.5 hours ) was not the worst part. The entire experience was so disorganized. The drinks were very late, & the food was an hour late for the chef to arrive. When the chef arrived, his station was not stocked with the right foods. Multiple members of our party were missing ordered items, which were individually brought to the table ( I mean shrimp by shrimp ). The staff were not attentive & hardly checked on the table to ensure anything was taken care of. One of the plates on the chef's table, had an item on the plate that needed to be discarded. When the meal was finished and our cake was brought out to us, there was a 8-10 min wait for forks to eat it with, which arrived after we paid our bills. My family and I recently dined at Benihana in Buckhead, and the experience was exceptional from the minute we arrived with Dee (Demairise), the manager, greeted us upon arriving with immediate seating and the manager ensured everything ran smoothly and went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcomed and well taken care of. He also came over to the table to ensure things were going well. The server Bre was very good, and the Hibachi chef, Jose was outstanding on the grill and his customer service. My family enjoyed the first time experience and his personality. He was attentive, and made excellent recommendations. Their teamwork and professionalism truly enhanced my family dining experience. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect. I would definitely recommend people to request for Jose as the hibachi grill chef at Benihana in Buckhead. We look forward to returning soon. I had a reservation on Saturday, February 1, at 2:30pm. I arrived there at 2:37 p.m. little late. They had me and my guest waited until 3:46 pm before we were seated at the table. We waited until we were served with refried rice. Everyone who ordered chicken and shrimp was a little served first. Finally, at 4:18 those who ordered steak and myself received it. Finally, at 4:46 we received our check to pay for our meals which the waitress presented to us. Benihana use to be my favorite place to eat a hibachi meal (the best refried rice in Atlanta ). At this time I never would go back to that Benihana restaurant, especially on a Saturday. Plus now the refried rice doesn't come with your meal. you pay separately from your main diah. It is used to come with your meal. I tried calling the manager today but it won't allowed me to leave a message on the phone to voicemail. It kept going back to the beginning of the call. The same day reservation process was seamless which was great. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, as was our cook; however, our cook did not perform any of the entertainment that I'm accustomed to at Habatchi restaurants nor did another cook that I observed serving another party. Lastly, the food was not appetizing at alll; the salad was nasty; I think it was the dressing that made it that way. Once my food was all ready I asked for more yum yum sauce and it was freely given; however, it tasted nowhere near what yum yum sauce has ever tasted and we ear Habatchi often. When I asked the cook about the taste he stated that they use to make the sauce but now the company has it shipped in from somewhere. Needless to say, I took all of my food, except the salad home, to doctor it up. I had to go to Kroger to buy a bottle of yum yum sauce to doctor up my food so that I could ingest and kind of enjoy it since I paid for it. I've never been to a Habatchi restaurant with non Asian staff. I'd hate to think that the Indian & African American staff is the reason for the bad experience but, I've n v r had a bad Habatchi experience prior to this one. Not even sure where to begin. First, let me say that Benihana is within walking distance to my home. I don't go there because when I tried to take my son a few years back, we were turned away. They said that we needed a reservation even though the place was practically empty. Now they do have a sign up saying reservations are required. It was not there before. Yesterday I had a guest and he wanted to go there. Against my better judgment, I made a reservation. When we arrived, they checked us in and then let us know that the wait could range from a few minutes to hours. Say what? They were supposed to text me when my table was ready. It is bow 15 hours later and I never got the text. We decided to order an appetizer at the bar. The hostess said we had time. We ended up ordering meals and opted not to wait for the table side cooking. Mind you, I never related that to the hostess. I wanted to see if the text ever came. I could tell there was mass confusion at the hostess stand. My friend is allergic to shellfish and made it clear to the bartender that he could not eat the shrimp appetizer that was a part of the meal. They put them on his plate anyway. Mine were cold and rubbery. We both got the teriyaki chicken meals. The small amount of chicken was absurd and the entire meal could have been purchased for ten bucks elsewhere and I do mean both of our meals combined. The drinks didn't even taste like they had alcohol in them and yet, there food is pricey. I will give it to them. They were crowded since it is graduation time. I just don't understand why people waste their money there. The next time someone suggests it because we can walk, it will be a definite no for me. read more

Where do I even begin with how terrible this experience was? I made a reservation for 6:30pm on a Monday for me and my girlfriend, because we wanted to get in an early dinner and then be home by 8:30 latest. Boy were we wrong. We got there at 6:30pm, didn't get seated until 6:50pm, and the hibachi chef didn't even come out until 7:40pm. Right off the bat, this was an extremely disappointing start. I don't think we left the restaurant until 9:30pm/9:45pm. For food we shared a crispy rice w/ tuna roll, and then we each got our own Hibachi meal. I got the spicy hibachi chicken and my girlfriend got the teriyaki chicken. The food was definitely not worth the price AT ALL. The crispy rice was decent, but it only came with 4 pieces and cost $15, I assumed it was gonna be at least 6 pieces, but I guess that was my fault. My spicy hibachi chicken was supposed to come with mushrooms, but they never made them at all. I asked about it, just to make sure I wasn't crazy. They brought them out, but I opted out because I didn't want them cooked on the same grill where the steak was cooked (we don't eat beef due to dietary restrictions, so they made our food first.) The fried rice wasn't seasoned at all, the onions were undercooked (they were so hard still), the veggies weren't cut up, and the shrimp tasted like nothing. Japanese hot green tea was supposed to be included as well, but we never got that either. I was extremely disappointed with the entire meal. What a waste of money. You'd expect Benihana's quality to be great since they are so expensive, but you're wrong, it was terrible. I had gone here for my birthday back in 2015 and it was excellent then. The service and quality has gone way downhill since. In addition to this, the server didn't fill up my drink for 20-30 minutes. And yes, I do understand that it did get progressively busier, but within that 30 min, you couldn't find 2 minutes to refill my drink? I had asked the host for a business card of the manager, but he couldn't find one at all, so I just asked for the manager's name instead. The manager's name is Charles. Do not waste your time and money by going here. You're gonna end up eating your food more than an hour after your reservation, and when you do eat, you're gonna be very disappointed. Since it has been weeks and no response from Benihana, here is the review I was not going to publicly announce: Great evening to you Brian, I am in constant gratitude and appreciation for great service in this era where it is a dying art. My emails are usually for praise: but not this one. My partner and I ventured to Benihana this past Thursday, July 4th like we did for Kendra's birthday in 2022. That year, it was South Florida. This year she chose Atlanta since we were visiting from Florida for her birthday weekend. Kendra was tickled to receive her "The Best Place To Celebrate" birthday certificate. She made reservations for 6:45pm, and off we went. Once seated, the first question to the server Douglas was, "I have a birthday coupon, may I give that to you now?" Douglas said "Yes, let me take that and put it in for you to have it out of the way." This is also stated on the certificate (present prior to placing order), and Kendra being acquainted with the certificate, knew that was in the fine print. When the bill arrived, Kendra noticed the $30 was not deducted from the bill and once she spotted Douglas, she mentioned it. He dashed off to correct the bill. He returned with: "He said we do not accept these on holidays." Kendra reminded him of the exclusions and was met with: "Well that is what he said, we don't take them on holidays." Kendra then asked to speak with "Him." When "Him" arrived at the table, his response was almost incredulous. "Him" said: "We don't accept them on holidays." There was no introduction, no pleasantries, greeting or otherwise. Kendra read the exclusions that state what days are excluded. "Him" said: "I apologize, but I don't have a button to even push." No matter what Kendra said, she received the same condescending, robotic, uninterested response: "I apologize." Kendra told "Him" how she had used her certificate on her birthday in the past without issue. He made some slick remark about not being here last year. When she stated it was in South Florida, "Him" simply went on with his "I apologize I don't have a button" spiel once again. "Him" had his head cocked to one side, hands folded in front with a smirk on his face, with the posture of someone who wanted to engage in a street battle. Brian, it was the most deplorable display of unkindness and human decency I have ever witnessed as a guest anywhere. It appears "Him" is struggling with his role as a manager. The very basics of an interaction in the hospitality industry with a guest was absent. I then asked "Him" was there anything as a manager he could do. Before I could finish my statement, which I had to repeat because he spoke over me, "Him" responded: "There is not a button, and no there is nothing I can do, no." He then walked away. Kendra, thinking maybe she could reason with him, asked Douglas to ask "Him" to return. It was awful Brian, simply awful. Kendra asked for his name, and he said Derek. The spelling, I am unsure of. She again attempted to plead to his reasonable side. She wanted Derek to look at the certificate, to understand the server was given the certificate in advance of the meal. per the certificate's instructions. Kendra wanted Derek to understand we were told after the meal was consumed and the check presented. Derek was not interested in taking ownership for the experience at all. As patrons of Benihana Thursday night, we did all that we were required to do. I attached the receipt and the certificate. This is not about what we paid for the meal. There is no amount of a Benihana gift card that would ever make up for the experience. This is not about an apology. This is about getting to the core of what happened in that restaurant the night of Kendra's birthday with Derek. The question is why did Derek think his behavior was acceptable? Speaking to you about this further would be inspiring. I did log two complaints using the benihanacares.com site, (Thursday and Friday) two because I was truly beside myself and thought it would push the complaint to urgency. I did not receive an email that my complaint was received and given a turnaround time. This experience deserves priority Brian. I did not engage in making this public as a review on any social media channels. I hope to hear from you soon. read more

I can not describe my disappointment and the disgust in the way I was treated at Benihana when arriving on time for a birthday meal celebration with family after making a reservation for 4 adults and 1 child (birthday girl) over the phone with a live person at the restaurant for the Benihana in Buckhead, GA. The confirmation was sent directly from the Benihana representative. Upon arrival, we announced the name and reservation time to be told there is an hour wait.  I reiterated we have a reservation made with a person over the phone only to be told it doesn't matter-1 hour wait.  I inquired why someone would then make a reservation if they mean nothing -only to be scorned "we have shifts!!.  Its at least an hour wait!!"  THAT was it.  With that I asked to speak to manager that was not only unapologetic but indignant and beyond rude. She stated same and didn't care at all that one of the employees made and confirmed a reservation over the phone with me.  Clearly a reservation means NOTHING but we are on a time frame and we're also with a 5 year old who could not wait an hour (minimum). I was so upset I tried to get the manager to understand the concept and courtesy of actual reservations but she literally told me she didn't care and we can leave!!  When I asked her name she refused to provide.  This customer treatment is despicable. The staff at that location does not care about service or your reputation and I personally will never go back.  Even worse, my mother witnessed a party without a reservation being seated while we were told they would not seat us. Clearly there are HUGE issues with this location.  I am a business owner and if my staff ever treated patrons like we were treated I would fire all of them.  That's how awful it was. With a 5 year old in tow, we left and had to find another place to accommodate a party of 5 last minute for a Birthday celebration.  It was a mess and ruined the 5 year old's birthday!  She was so excited for hibachi and there is no excuse for that! read more
