I came here with a group of friends on a Friday evening. We had to wait a while to be seated. Once seated we got waters and put in our drink orders. My friend ordered a regular lemonade and did not receive it until we asked twice. I was expecting the usual hibachi experience where the cook gives a little show while preparing the meal, but did not receive that. The guy just cooked the food real quick and gave it to us. Hello everyone! I have never written a Yelp review before but our experience at Benihana was so unbelievable I just had to share! It started when we walked in to check in for our reservation, and the hostess asked for my wife's name without looking at us at all. She must have been very busy! When she gave her name, she was asked to repeat it twice and then asked for the phone # on the reservation to look it up that way. Then the hostess said, "Oh JAMIE!" which is totally understandable because it is very tough to pronounce. We were told we would have to wait for 5 minutes, no big deal, and then literally ten seconds later a gentleman walked over, spoke to the hostess, turned to a family in the opposite direction of us, and yelled "JAMIE?!" So that was nice of him to tell them our party name. We sat down for what was sure to be an unforgettable evening. After the server took our drink order, she immediately started asking what we wanted to eat, which was nice because having time to decide is definitely overrated. After ordering the food and drinks, we hung out and took in the ambience for about 20 minutes, enjoying classic Japanese music by artists such as Avril Lavigne and Blink 182. She then returned with our non-alcoholic drinks, and made sure to put her tray right on the hibachi flat-top and hand out the drinks so that half the table had to reeeeaaaach out and take them. I'm sure they were happy for the free workout! I had ordered an old fashioned with Japanese Whiskey from the drink menu, but she demanded to know what kind of liquor I wanted in it. I told her the Japanese whiskey listed on the menu, to which she responded "we don't have that." so I asked for Woodford. What a fun exercise in customization! Oh and she also told my wife, who had ordered a cocktail special from an insert in the menu, that they were out of that drink. Not an ingredient, just the whole thing. Whoops! So then after about 45 minutes seated, our friendly hibachi chef rolled out with his cart. The couple next to us was kind enough to point out that we had not received any soup or salad yet, so he ran off to find our server, who was no doubt in the back planning the rest of our unforgettable experience. She then proceeded to bring out our soup and then try to take it away after 1 minute, and then do the same with the salad. This was fun because it was like a Survivor challenge to eat appetizers as fast as we could! During this time she brought out the wrong appetizer to the couple next to us, then argued with them as to what they had ordered, so that was a fun part of the show too. But the best was yet to come! Our hibachi chef began his work, and the food was indeed delicious, though he didn't say much while he was cooking it. That's ok, who goes out for hibachi to be entertained by the chef anyway? My 3 year-old liked the fire at least. (Note; I haven't mentioned yet that we had my 3 year-old son with us yet because despite how excited we were for him to see hibachi, everything took so long to get rolling that he got annoyed and just watched videos the whole time when fire wasn't involved. Oh well!) But the REAL show started when a young gentleman showed up with a makeshift mop to blot out the air vents above us that had been dripping the whole time. I have to assume they keep food seasoning in these vents because when he started mopping them all manner of unidentified substances began to fall down on us as we dined. How creative! Then, when one of our fellow diners at the table loudly said something, he retreated to the mop room and returned to the dining room so he could glare angrily at us for the rest of the meal. We have been here since 5:30. It is now 8:05. We had 6pm reservations. Is this the way Veterans are treated on our day of honor? We have had 3 different people. Hostess took our drinks. They never came. Then server came took our drinks. But took appx another 45 min. Silver ware salad and soup came together at 7: 45. Now the cook is about to cook and it's 8:20. 2 other tables have eaten before us. We were seated after 7 before the other table and they are just about finished and he's cleaning the stove. THIS IS NOT EXCEPTABLE AT ALL!!!!!! I used to love coming here with my family. We have spent lots of money at this location. Well NO more. We are finished. Good bye Benihana. Not even sure where to begin. First, let me say that Benihana is within walking distance to my home. I don't go there because when I tried to take my son a few years back, we were turned away. They said that we needed a reservation even though the place was practically empty. Now they do have a sign up saying reservations are required. It was not there before. Yesterday I had a guest and he wanted to go there. Against my better judgment, I made a reservation. When we arrived, they checked us in and then let us know that the wait could range from a few minutes to hours. Say what? They were supposed to text me when my table was ready. It is bow 15 hours later and I never got the text. We decided to order an appetizer at the bar. The hostess said we had time. We ended up ordering meals and opted not to wait for the table side cooking. Mind you, I never related that to the hostess. I wanted to see if the text ever came. I could tell there was mass confusion at the hostess stand. My friend is allergic to shellfish and made it clear to the bartender that he could not eat the shrimp appetizer that was a part of the meal. They put them on his plate anyway. Mine were cold and rubbery. We both got the teriyaki chicken meals. The small amount of chicken was absurd and the entire meal could have been purchased for ten bucks elsewhere and I do mean both of our meals combined. The drinks didn't even taste like they had alcohol in them and yet, there food is pricey. I will give it to them. They were crowded since it is graduation time. I just don't understand why people waste their money there. The next time someone suggests it because we can walk, it will be a definite no for me. read more

My family and I recently dined at Benihana in Buckhead, and the experience was exceptional from the minute we arrived with Dee (Demairise), the manager, greeted us upon arriving with immediate seating and the manager ensured everything ran smoothly and went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcomed and well taken care of. He also came over to the table to ensure things were going well. The server Bre was very good, and the Hibachi chef, Jose was outstanding on the grill and his customer service. My family enjoyed the first time experience and his personality. He was attentive, and made excellent recommendations. Their teamwork and professionalism truly enhanced my family dining experience. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect. I would definitely recommend people to request for Jose as the hibachi grill chef at Benihana in Buckhead. We look forward to returning soon. Her idea and execution. The reservation time was for 6pm, party of 10. We were here at the appointed time. However, we were told an additional 1 hour and a half was added because they didn't have enough servers. Apparently, they all called out or, rather, quite a few did. This was by far the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. It is a scam. The very long wait (~1.5 hours ) was not the worst part. The entire experience was so disorganized. The drinks were very late, & the food was an hour late for the chef to arrive. When the chef arrived, his station was not stocked with the right foods. Multiple members of our party were missing ordered items, which were individually brought to the table ( I mean shrimp by shrimp ). The staff were not attentive & hardly checked on the table to ensure anything was taken care of. One of the plates on the chef's table, had an item on the plate that needed to be discarded. When the meal was finished and our cake was brought out to us, there was a 8-10 min wait for forks to eat it with, which arrived after we paid our bills. Where do I even begin with how terrible this experience was? I made a reservation for 6:30pm on a Monday for me and my girlfriend, because we wanted to get in an early dinner and then be home by 8:30 latest. Boy were we wrong. We got there at 6:30pm, didn't get seated until 6:50pm, and the hibachi chef didn't even come out until 7:40pm. Right off the bat, this was an extremely disappointing start. I don't think we left the restaurant until 9:30pm/9:45pm. For food we shared a crispy rice w/ tuna roll, and then we each got our own Hibachi meal. I got the spicy hibachi chicken and my girlfriend got the teriyaki chicken. The food was definitely not worth the price AT ALL. The crispy rice was decent, but it only came with 4 pieces and cost $15, I assumed it was gonna be at least 6 pieces, but I guess that was my fault. My spicy hibachi chicken was supposed to come with mushrooms, but they never made them at all. I asked about it, just to make sure I wasn't crazy. They brought them out, but I opted out because I didn't want them cooked on the same grill where the steak was cooked (we don't eat beef due to dietary restrictions, so they made our food first.) The fried rice wasn't seasoned at all, the onions were undercooked (they were so hard still), the veggies weren't cut up, and the shrimp tasted like nothing. Japanese hot green tea was supposed to be included as well, but we never got that either. I was extremely disappointed with the entire meal. What a waste of money. You'd expect Benihana's quality to be great since they are so expensive, but you're wrong, it was terrible. I had gone here for my birthday back in 2015 and it was excellent then. The service and quality has gone way downhill since. In addition to this, the server didn't fill up my drink for 20-30 minutes. And yes, I do understand that it did get progressively busier, but within that 30 min, you couldn't find 2 minutes to refill my drink? I had asked the host for a business card of the manager, but he couldn't find one at all, so I just asked for the manager's name instead. The manager's name is Charles. Do not waste your time and money by going here. You're gonna end up eating your food more than an hour after your reservation, and when you do eat, you're gonna be very disappointed. I had a reservation on Saturday, February 1, at 2:30pm. I arrived there at 2:37 p.m. little late. They had me and my guest waited until 3:46 pm before we were seated at the table. We waited until we were served with refried rice. Everyone who ordered chicken and shrimp was a little served first. Finally, at 4:18 those who ordered steak and myself received it. Finally, at 4:46 we received our check to pay for our meals which the waitress presented to us. Benihana use to be my favorite place to eat a hibachi meal (the best refried rice in Atlanta ). At this time I never would go back to that Benihana restaurant, especially on a Saturday. Plus now the refried rice doesn't come with your meal. you pay separately from your main diah. It is used to come with your meal. I tried calling the manager today but it won't allowed me to leave a message on the phone to voicemail. It kept going back to the beginning of the call. The same day reservation process was seamless which was great. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, as was our cook; however, our cook did not perform any of the entertainment that I'm accustomed to at Habatchi restaurants nor did another cook that I observed serving another party. Lastly, the food was not appetizing at alll; the salad was nasty; I think it was the dressing that made it that way. Once my food was all ready I asked for more yum yum sauce and it was freely given; however, it tasted nowhere near what yum yum sauce has ever tasted and we ear Habatchi often. When I asked the cook about the taste he stated that they use to make the sauce but now the company has it shipped in from somewhere. Needless to say, I took all of my food, except the salad home, to doctor it up. I had to go to Kroger to buy a bottle of yum yum sauce to doctor up my food so that I could ingest and kind of enjoy it since I paid for it. I've never been to a Habatchi restaurant with non Asian staff. I'd hate to think that the Indian & African American staff is the reason for the bad experience but, I've n v r had a bad Habatchi experience prior to this one.
