Came to Benihana's for my birthday dinner.. a whole party of 9 and although the food tasted great, the experience was maybe a 1/10. We were sat down & Gabe was our server for a quick minute and just took our drinks, he was lively and so friendly so we thought we got lucky... we were mistaken. Gabe was only the breaker for our actual server, Daniel. While Daniel made sure to take our orders correct, he had no energy, an attitude and zero customer service persona. Chef Erika was the BOMB!! These 2 stars were definitely for her. She was lively, kind, and a real good chef we got so lucky. The second she was done cooking and walked away our server came "Ice cream flavor?" or "Yours doesn't come with ice cream." and "Be back with boxes". Mind you, we had no time to enjoy our food or were asked if we were ready for dessert? He and himself was the only one to sing happy birthday with nooooo energy. The taste of the food is still really good. I was super disappointed that I paid $4 to get two/2 oz portions of ginger sauce and neither container was even close to 2oz. Guests are seated around a teppanyaki grill as they watch their food being cooked by highly trained chefs whose performance is somewhat theatrical and amusing. THE FOOD. - Deluxe Treat | Filet mignon and lobster tail are grilled in front of you, along with hibachi shrimp, and assorted vegetables (I still think the onion volcano is fun to watch). They also bring out a cup of onion soup, a side salad, a small bowl of steamed rice (you can ask to have to fried), and green tea. After the meal, a scoop of ice cream comes out for dessert. On June 19, 2026, my husband, our adult son, and I visited the Ontario restaurant for lunch. As strict vegetarians, we explicitly ordered tofu. When our chef, Erika, arrived at the teppanyaki table, she confirmed our orders but immediately began cooking all of the meat orders first on the shared grill surface, presenting a severe cross-contamination risk. When my husband politely addressed this, Chef Erika responded with immediate hostility, defensively stating, "You should have told me you had allergies, I had asked." I explained that this was not an allergy issue, but a violation of our deeply held religious beliefs. Instead of correcting the mistake, Chef Erika escalated her rude behavior. When I asked to speak to a manager, she dismissively snapped, "If you want to speak to a manager, get up and find him yourself." While my husband got up to search for management, Chef Erika continued to aggressively confront me at the table. She repeatedly demanded, "Do you want me to cook your food or not?" I maintained that her behavior was completely unacceptable, but she refused to back down, continuously and combatively repeating, "Do you want me to cook your food for you or not?" The surrounding patrons at our table--entire strangers to us--were so appalled by Erika's behavior that the daughter of another guest voluntarily stood up, found the manager alongside my husband, and independently reported how disgustingly we were being treated. The hostile environment Erika created, not only to us, but all seated at the table and had to endure, ruined the meal for everyone seated at the table. Only after this extensive confrontation did the manager finally arrive to remove Erika from the station. As General Manager, the local leadership is entirely responsible for the culture, behavioral standards, and hospitality training in this restaurant. Came to this location for lunch on Friday and we were seated shortly after we arrived. I order the hibachi shrimp with fried rice. Their menu is a 5 course meal which includes soup, salad, and the main course. Mushroom soup 3/5: the soup was nice especially on a cold day but I thought it was a little too salty for me. Other than it being too salty, it was pretty good but a very generic soup when you're paying at least $40 for the meal. I liked that there were bits of mushroom though! Salad 3/5: the salad was pretty good and a great palate cleanser after the soup. I did think there was a little too much salad dressing for the salad which kinda overpowered the salad but I still enjoyed it. Chicken fried rice 5/5: my favorite meal of the course! The fried rice was full of flavor probably because of the amount of butter they used LOL. The portion of the fried rice is huge as well. It's probably worth at least 2 servings. Hibachi shrimp 4/5: the shrimp was nicely cooked and seared. Because they cook it on the grill, there's a nice smokiness to the shrimp. I did get a lot of shrimp so they definitely did not skimp out. Along with the shrimp, I also got some veggies on the side like grilled zucchini and onions to go along with the meal. I ended the meal with matcha ice cream for a nice palate cleanser. Overall, I really liked the course I had and the shrimp was nicely cooked but I did get a little tired of just eating shrimp as the main course. EPIC FAIL......Dropped by for the last day of their $25 loyalty coupon and the place was mobbed on Sunday 2/1. Instead of making people wait in the lobby or outside, they began filling up the teppan tables with NO chefs in sight. As the clock ran into 30 minutes, people began to get super anxious and actually leaving. Finally at the 35-minute mark, our chef showed up to start cooking and his show. Our food was O.K., but this total lack of control over the over crowded situation was an epic fail. When you are paying $50 to $100 a person for a meal and tip, you expect near perfection, and this was not even close. Then, to add insult to injury, I was given a bill in the amount of $148 for one person.....I had to go person by person at my table to figure out whom got mine.....Then, after I paid, i had to request my receipt.....which never came!! Finally I just left in frustration. and will NOT be coming back to this place ever again. I hear Kobe, just up the street, is better and much cheaper as well. read more

Went there for a bday dinner .. Where do I start ? The place was very noisy and congested.. the Salad dressing was bitter, soup salty .. I ordered the Salmon which was ok but ALL THE SIDES WERE WAY TOO SALTY !!! Veggies , mushrooms, noodles , all so salty I couldn't finish.. rice had pounds of butter in it No bday celebration at the end like most places do .. The shrimp tempura was soggy not crisp .. Very disappointed!!! We've been coming here 3x a year for many years (probably 20). We just came in late Jan 2025. Then we come Again today- late May 2025. First thing we noticed- They've changed the menu, raised price's. They stopped the garlic butter mixture and just use plain butter now (the garlic one was so much better). They use less shrimp for the trio now. The chefs are still great. I don't have complaints about the service per se. Mostly the food and food Quality has gone down and prices gone up. I arrived and there's already about five people waiting so I give my name and they say it'll be a few more minutes and that turned into more than 40 minutes later because they were "waiting for rice". Very disappointed with this restaurant. They have gone extremely downhill since I was here last. We had dinner reservations at 8pm, didn't get seated until 8:15pm and our order wasn't taken until 8:45pm. This has become a 2 hour experience with very slow service. Even the chef was very rushed and did 2 lazy tricks for us that felt rushed. The server was extremely slow to take our order and kept forgetting to come back to check on us. Also the bathroom was disgusting. The trash cans were overflowing with paper towels and there was a bunch of toilet paper on the floor. My wife and I went there for our anniversary and ambiance was poor. Very noisy, people dressed in shorts and sandals etc. We paid a bill of $200 and realized that it was not a good value. We arrived at 5:25 on a sunday for a 5:30 reservation and the Front desk staff was already in a grumpy mood. The lobby was overflowing with diners and they were already behind schedule. By the time we were seated, it was 6:15. Waitstaff was lovely. Tiffany took our orders and fetched us drinks quickly. The meal itself was mediocre, but the chef Adagio did a great job entertaining us. We came to give my 12 y.o. an experience. The chef did not disappoint in that aspect. The interactiveness, the jokes and the pranks made it a really fun time for him. Afterwards, the kiddo said to me: you make much better food than he did, but that was the most fun I had with food ever. The decor and cleanliness was a bit stale/off for us. He used 1/2 the container of garlic butter for the fried rice, over cooked the chicken, shrimp and vegetables. He was monotone and seemed to battle awkwardness the entire time cooking. At least he got the steak correct. I really do hate leaving this kind of review. Most of mine are far and beyond positive but this was just disappointing. We haven't been to Benihana in a while and for the same reason. When chains get to big the standard starts to fall. Food quality was great, but I needed more flavor! My kids asked for more garlic butter and salt! We never ask for salt nor do we even use it at home because we understand how to season our food. This isn't a shot at the specific location, but maybe a conversation for corporate. Flavor profile, specifically on the seasonings has been lacking each time we have visited. I'm not sure if it's the recipes and execution of the dishes at the grill or if quality controls r now loosely in place but I'm always expecting great pops of flavor and we were left again missing our home hibachi place that unfortunately has closed down. Our bill was about $800 or so and we left a little frustrated. We don't mind spending the money if u don't mind making the food taste amazing! That little extra love and TLC was much needed. My mother in law also got a coupon for her birthday and when we asked to use it for her meal they said Friday is considered a weekend and the coupon isn't valid on the weekends. Not a bad thing, but sometimes a misunderstanding deserves an exception. We want to love this place the times that we have gone, but there is just something missing from the overall flavor of the food! Wonderful atmosphere at Benihana! I went in on a Tuesday around 1:30 with a reservation I made that morning. Upon arrival we were greeted and waited about 5 minutes before our table was ready (party of 4) Kids menu prices were almost just as much as the adults (that's new) so I got the adult entree to split for my kids which was the hibachi steak with chicken fried rice and a soup. My husband and I got the same thing.. Sunny our server was very sweet and knowledgeable about their teas' I recommend the passion iced tea it was so delicious. The soups were delicious! I went on a Monday evening, there was only a few tables dining I arrived at 5:10 didn't start to get drinks (soda) till almost 5:50. Service is a little slow I think we were waiting on a cook. Food didn't get started till 630. There was a total of 2 of us our total came to $180 the service of the waitress are really on top of things and friendly. The food is definitely over hyped everything lacks flavor. They add so much butter to their food but lack salt and seasoning. The inside is dark/ low lighting.
