As locals, this has become our go to spot whenever we're craving solid sushi without having to overthink it. The happy hour here is seriously always worth stopping in for. Just a heads up, the seating area is pretty small, so be prepared for it to feel cozy during busy hours. This visit I ordered the 3 item bento and it did not disappoint. Definitely upgrade to the fried rice because I honestly don't know what they put in it, but it's ridiculously good. After hearing about this restaurant from my aunt, I finally was able to give this place a try. Keep in mind that they also have another location in Norco. This place is not that big, but the atmosphere and vibe makes a difference when you go in. Everyone is super nice. Keep in mind that I only came this time just to get take out. I was able to try the Red Dragon, and the Mango Tango Roll. Both rolls were part of their 5 Piece Happy Hour Roll Special. I love that I get to try different rolls. It looks very nostalgic and like your cute little hole in the wall sushi spot in your neighborhood that you go to when you get home from work. The staff was very attentive and always make sure we had what we needed as pictured. We got the sashimi combos. The cuts of fish were giant. And enough for one to share, but why would you? The sushi quality and preparation of food can use a lot of work. I got 3 bento boxes to-go (chicken katsu, beef teriyaki and salmon) and all of them were so rough to eat. The salmon was dry and overcooked, drenched in teriyaki, the beef teriyaki was supposed to be medium rare but it was well done and tough to chew, the chicken katsu was rubbery. I was super skeptical after trying this place after COVID years ago from a very overpriced terrible experience. I ordered from here on accident thinking it was a different Japanese restaurant until I started driving. I ordered their Valentines special for 2 and 4 orders of California rolls and gyoza for the kids. The Valentine special was called "O-fish-ially-yours" for $99: Edamame, 2 soup, 2 salad, Otoro roll, Rainbow row, 2x - 6 piece sashimi of Salmon, Yellowtail, Albacore, Tuna It was expected to have a long wait time and waited 50 minutes for an online order on a Saturday night on Valentines. I went home to show the family and was pretty impressed for an online pick up on presentation. Now for the taste test... it was absolutely AWESOME. I don't know what they changed but the fish was fresh, the sushi rice was perfect, not like it came straight from the rice cooker years ago with no taste, and the sauces on the rolls were spot on, not salty or overpowering and I've had plenty of sushi over the years. This place totally turned around and will definitely be back for more. I hope this is the new consistency. Thanks for a great Valentines Day Dinner. :) I guess this time the above average prices has been justified by the quality. No complaints! About 5 years ago, the Japanese restaurant that my daughter and I would go to the owner retired and sold the business. But not here! To start out we ordered Waters as I'm trying to stay on the healthy side of drinks and we ordered a few happy hour appetizers. They are smaller portions, but for $5 for some and $8 for the rolls during happy hour, you can't beat that! My daughter and I got the shrimp tempura, the veggie tempura, and a good portion of garlic edamame. Everything was appetizing for sure! My daughter ordered the beef udon noodles soup and it was a big bowl, a great portion. I ordered a two menu item combo, the filet mignon cooked medium and shrimp platter, so mouth-watering! It came with quite a few sides, miso soup, a small salad with some beautiful ginger dressing, and fried rice which is only $2 more, well worth it probably the best fried rice I ever had! Also the yum yum sauce for the shrimp and the ginger dip for the filet mignon were extraordinary touches. My friend had various different sushi rolls and they all looked really good, the one that looked really cool was the Tiger, great presentation! Really everything here was presented very well! Everything tasted so amazing! At the end we had a super delicious caramel apple dessert in a way that I've never seen or tasted before! I will never look at an apple the same way again as this dessert was so good! It was drizzled with caramel and had a light coat of I believe cinnamon and sugar and a little side of whipped cream with sprinkles. Overall, I'm so happy that we ate here! I'm glad I found a new favorite! My daughter seems very happy as well and I know my friend enjoyed the meal with us! I definitely highly recommend this cozy place! Delicious sushi. We (2 of us) came in during happy hour and this was probably back in February or so. We also made sake bombs drinks - all you need is 1 or 2 large beer (usually Sapporo) and 1 room temp large (if applicable) sake (just ask for room temp instead of hot so you're not going to drink it lukewarm), 2 ice cold glasses and 2 shot glasses. Fill 2 glasses like 1/3 up with beer, fill shot glasses full of sake. You and other hold the shot glass over the glass of beer and once drop it in the beer, drink it all right away! The piece of salmon on top of both my rolls (Alaskan + Charlene) were the smallest (thin and narrow) pieces I've ever seen. It was actually comical, the pieces were so thin that they were translucent on the rice. Additionally, each roll was only 5 pieces (smaller than other rolls). The amount of yellowtail fish inside my Negi Hama roll was equally stingy. I usually don't care to leave reviews, but this one really stood out to me.
