I like Benihana a lot we tried to go here 2-3 a month. But my last dine in experienced here they charged me twice so I called and spoke with the two Managers (charged was $107 and the other one is $105) they just keep telling me they will look into it and will call me back but the problem never got solved. Called them few times even email them the credit card charged and the dine in receipt and Its been a month now and they still didn't refund me with the double charge. Found myself going to Benihana for the first time ever on a Saturday but there were a couple disappointments: 1) Made a reservation for 9, we were seated in 15 minutes (not the worst wait time but since I'm listing imma include it) 2) Waited 30 minutes (after being seated) before anyone took our main course order 3) Waited 45 minutes before getting the basic soup and salad. 4) Took 1h10 minutes before a chef got to our table and started cooking. It was past 10pm (we were there way past closing time AKA 10:30pm) 5) It was hard to flag down a waiter because of the severe shortage of staff (even the chain manager was waitressing) 3 chefs and 4 waiters were catering to 7 tables with 60 people seated. 6) Though the seafood was fresh and 2 standard sauces were provided the food was very bland and thus a little overpriced. 7)Fried rice had way too much garlic butter (this may be their standard but I can eat a lot of garlic but this was just overkill) 8)Though the chef smiled (props to him for being a good sport) he was dropping his spatulas and looked utterly exhausted. I didn't like that the chefs were being so overworked. It was painful to watch. A few more stars might've flown off however I only took off one because I believe that given the circumstances the restaurant did try its best to mend the unfortunate situation. When I spoke to the manager she explained that this was a rare case when they were short staffed and people were staying over 1 hour which is over the average meal time for customers here apparently. She apologized profusely and gave us a little discount (not necessary but was nice), our waitress made an effort to come back more frequently to ensure we were ok and the chef even after a jam packed shift smiled and gave us a show. My parents have fond memories of Benihana (not this location) so this was a complete bust for them, because of their hype I set a high standard too. We came out to Benihana with friends too so our post dinner plans were cancelled because of the long wait. (Side rant) Nota bene: Don't complain about a restaurant unless you've given them a chance to rectify the problem. read more

Where service is the worst and the customer is always WRONG! Unbelievably negative experience after so much anticipation for these first timers. Our waitress was incredibly rude, completely detached, and unreasonably S-L-O-W. Final straw happened after she slammed water down and walked off in silence though she'd received an undeserved "thank you," I found the manager. That's when our experience went from terrible to unbearable. His professionalism stopped at his nice attire. I requested a different waitress and asked him to let our new waitress know that we're picking up the tab for the two ladies also dining at our table. He interrupted me with a very dismissive offer to comp my meal. HE WASN'T LISTENING. Not only did I not want a comped meal, I was also paying for two complete strangers. He continued to argue with me, talk over me, and put words in my mouth. He kept insisting that I just want our waitress fired for being a terrible person which I had to keep insisting was absolutely NOT THE CASE. We simply wanted a decent dining experience but his defensive volatility ended it for us. I went back to my table, got my family, apologized to the ladies (who agreed with our position), and left. We were more than happy to spend twice the money across the street. My husband and I are blessed to be in a position to tip very well. We start at $100 and the service decides if it changes. By that logic, the Benihana waitress owes us money lol. But in all seriousness, this was a train wreck of an experience. We were celebrating my nieces birthday and thought this would be good since the kids would enjoy the theatric of the chefs cooking and doing tricks. Our over all experience was mediocre at best. In a restaurant with many many available tables, we were sat right next to the bathrooms. When asked if we could move we were told all the tables were reserved. While that may have been true, they had enough turnover that switching us to a different table should not have caused problems. Our waitress was nice in the beginning but something happened during the meal and when we asked for a smoothie for my nephew about halfway through the meal she seemed to get annoyed. We hadn't seen her since she brought our drinks and the chef arrived, so not sure what happened in between. Maybe we messed up her plans/timing for the birthday tambourine and song... We also got charged full price for it and not the childrens menu price, which is what my SIL was holding and pointing too when it was ordered. Our Chef - in the words of my nephew, "our chef wasn't as impressive as the other tables". He was funny, but just didn't do any tricks that the kids saw done at other tables like throwing the shrimp towards our mouths and us trying to catch or, or the egg toss. The food was okay. It all kinda tasted the same even though we ordered different things. And my brothers dish was missing scallops. When we mentioned this to our waitress, she said we should have said something to the chef. He didn't realize until later which is why we told her. Didn't apologize and we weren't compensated for it. Not sure we'll come back to this location. In general, the family consensus was Benihana's have really gone down hill and the experience just isn't the same anymore. read more

While eating here I was hit from behind in my back from a waiter carrying a high chair straight outward. We did not enjoy our experience there due to the pain I was having and the manager was extremely RUDE. He never offered to comp my meal and when we brought it up to him he was a complete jerk. First let's start off saying that I've been going to Benihana for over 10 years and never had this situation surface. Mother's Day reservations at the Plano location for 6 was my party and another party of 3 was also at our table. Nice people we never met before until that night . So let's start with the chef who's was really trying to do his best job because it's obviously he's new by his interactions with the customers and also how he was cooking the food . For me that wasn't the issue bevy he listens to everyone and corrected some of the uncooked food and also the lack of seasoning. I'm a person who understands everyone has start point in anything you do in life, so like I said that was the issue. So at the end of the sub par dinner the party of 3 wasn't satisfied especially it's been there first experience at Benihana and hearing stories and also seeing other tables having a good time with there chef assigned to them. The party of 3 asked to speak to manager after their bolls was received. I paid for my party and was getting ready to leave and when the manager came to speak to gentleman about his bill and the sub par services. The manager wasn't trying to hear the gentleman nor did he apologize for the customer complaint. So My party left after we paid and we was leaving the parking lot and I received a call from the manager accusing me of not my paying my tab and also stated that he will call the cops on me for not paying my bill and hung up in my face as well. I turned around and my wife went inside to speak to the manager and he never came out to talk to her about the total disrespect that he caused my family. I didn't go inside because I was upset and it wouldn't did the situation any good. So basically the party of 3 didn't pay their bill because of the sub par service and the disrespectful manager. My family had nothing to do with this situation and he should've handled it a lot better than what transpired. I'm contacting his GM because we never received apology and it was just terrible services on top of the disrespectful manager. Ive read a number of reviews of this particular Benihana, and wanted to give this place a break. This venue has matured since opening Ive been to this particular Benihana a couple of times now. Each time the experience has met my expectations. With respect to expectations - It is a restaurant chain it is not a boutique teppanyaki bar and you are not in Rappongi, Tokyo. It is however a fun place to have an entertaining evening for small to medium size groups. I had an attentive server who was also a little subdued - I like that though as the "in your face" servers get on my nerves. Our Chef "Sui" was indeed a character. Whilst it was the standard Benihana patter, he was bright and cheerful with flawless technique. The food was typical. The kids menu included kid friendly favorites at an reasonable price. Mine was a little under seasoned for my tastes, nothing that a little Soy and dash of salt could not remediate. As mentioned I did bring my kids on this occasion. They had a blast. Because of the fun way the food was prepared they ended up eating stuff that they would not normally eat at home. Whilst the theatrics might get tiresome for returning adult patrons, the kids thought it was awesome. The volcano and the train always get a smile out of me. One tip, because I had kids with me - i went a little earlier about 5:30 6 ish in order to avoid the adult crowd. This paid off as we were able to get our own grill and chef and not have to share it with a couple who might have been trying to be on a date. If I had an adult group - I would go a little later - post 8pm. It was a little pricey for a family dinner - but worth it as a special treat which the kids enjoyed and appreciated. One more - thing - there were a lot of birthdays in the restaurant the day I went. The only time that I come here is because of their awesome birthday deal. When you sign up to become a member, they offer you a voucher for $30 for your birthday. The catch is that you need to bring a friend because they need to purchase a meal before the voucher can be used and also it can't be used on alcohol or lunch specials. The best deal is to use it on a dinner meal, preferably the yakisoba is the best deal. Everyone gets a miso soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, white rice is included, green tea is also included, zucchini, and then your yakisoba aka noodles with chicken and veggies. The $30 can also get you a sushi roll. I'm usually full by the time I get to my entrée. And you get ice cream afterwards and they sing to you in front of everyone ! I'll be back next year for my b-day or my husband's, whichever comes first. read more

FOOD POISONING. On 10/25/2018 I ate at this restaurant with several coworkers for a "team dinner." Four of the team reported being sick the next morning. I ate hibachi scallops with fried rice. I remember adding additional soy sauce because the food was bland. I drank a Lagunitas IPA out of a bottle. About 2 o'clock in the morning, I awoke with a sick feeling. I will spare you the details of the next 4 hours, but know that they were some of the most miserable hours of my life. Service: HORRIBLE (see details below) To start, I've been to this place for dinner and happy hour and both seemed okay. I joined a group for a reservation several months ago at 7:15pm. Due to it being prom season, we waited until after 8pm to be seated. I don't know exactly what time they were seated because I left at 8pm since I didn't want to have to wait for another hour or two to eat. Needless to say, I should have not been back... However, I decided to give it another try when another group of mine was getting together. We had a party of 4 and were sat pretty quickly (we did go during lunch instead of dinner and I think that helped tremendously!). Before we could even start sipping our drinks, someone walking behind us spilled a glass bottle. The glass went flying everywhere, INCLUDING INTO THE BACK OF MY LEGS! After looking down to see if I got any liquid on me, I felt a little sting and could see the blood starting to come out of my ankle. Now mind you, this was by no means a HUGE cut however, I WAS bleeding. Someone came over and started to mop up the mess and I asked for a Band-Aid. Someone else came over a few minutes later and started to sweep up the glass - I asked for a Band-Aid AGAIN. Then we happened to see the manager and I stopped him to ask (for the 3RD time) if I could get a Band-Aid. He said yes, he would bring one. HE asked if I wanted alcohol to rub on the cut, I said sure. About 10 minutes passed by and the chef comes out to begin cooking. I asked for the 4th time if I could have a Band-Aid. He said "Oh you want another Band-Aid?" , to which I replied, "No I don't want ANOTHER Band-Aid, I just want ONE". By this point, I was beyond annoyed. Four times to ask for a band-aid! Ridiculous! So the chef leaves and then comes back with a wet napkin and said it was alcohol. I used the napkin to rub off the (then) dried blood and noticed that it didn't sting at all. I thought, he wouldn't have just wet a napkin with water and given it to me and told me it was alcohol when it wasn't, would he? He proceeded to put the Band-Aid on for me (very nice) and then we both left to go wash our hands. About 10 minutes after that (now it's been about 20 minutes since I alerted the manager of the incident) and the manager comes to me with an alcohol pad and said "I'm sorry it took so long, I left to go get you the alcohol pad". I simply said thank you and he walked away. So not only did they cut me with the broken bottle, but it took 4x of me asking for a Band-Aid to actually get one, AND they gave me a wet napkin and said it was alcohol when it was really WATER! On top of that, I never saw the manager again after that! Horrible horrible experience. I've learned my lesson and most definitely will NOT be back. read more

I've been to a couple of Hibachi restaurants and this one was okay. I frequently go to Kobe Steaks in Addison which makes it impossible for me not to compare. I ordered filet mignon and chicken but thought the chicken lacked a little more flavor. The filet was good- they add a garlic butter for flavor- and I liked how they individually cook their zucchini. However, I thought the whole presentation was too uniformed. The cook, even though he was nice, lacked more interaction with our table. At other hibachi places, such as Kobe steaks, the cooks engage and put on a little more of a show. I would probably come here again if craving hibachi style food but would much prefer the drive to Addison. Overall, clean and friendly place. read more

It was my first time yesterday coming to this restaurant and will be my last time ever... Had reservations for 8:15pm me and my friends got there early and had some drinks at the bar. We had 3 rounds of shots before our table was ready. When we got to our talk we tried to order more drinks and for some weird reason the bartender told our server we were cut off with no explanation. No management came to talk to us or tell us why. For my birthday experience this was super horrible and felt robbed on my birthday. If this is how you treat customers when they're paying a tab over a $100 I'll never will come back to this place!! Thank you Aaron or Erin for ruining my night! I remember coming to to Benihana for high school dances and thinking it was such a big deal! Of course it still is a lot of fun. This place brings the entertainment and this location in particular is brighter than other locations. It doesn't feel as Japanese-y. that thought is confirmed by the fact that our chef's name was "Sanchez" but hey, no discriminating here. The food was yummy as ever and it is still a special feeling having your own chef for your group. I had the tuna and it wowed even those at my own table as the cut was great and high quality. Our party of 8 had our own table but there were others where parties shared. I always thought that was weird because you are watching other people eat and then people get up and leave at different times. Anyhow, this place is tucked away in the back corner of the shops so you kind of have to know it is there. read more

I am sure almost everyone reading this have been to a Hibachi place here or there, and this one is not much different than the others. I woukd say the pluses for this locaction in particular is the actual location, that happens to be in the shops at legacy. You can have a nice walk after you finish eating. Another plus is their friendly staff and good service. They do a little song and offer you a free ice cream if you tell them its your birthday or anniversary. So as you can imagine, there are always birthday lunches and dinners here. read more

We are there set Monday the 29th and we were a total of 8. My son and niece are the only ones who had shrimp and my niece took maybe two bites of the shrimp then just ate her noodles and she had to go to the bathroom and immediately complained of a tummy ache and my son needed to use the restroom before we left the restaurant and he got really sick that night and he's now admitted at the hospital with salmonella, it's been the worse experience watching my son suffer like this. Yesterday me and my family went to Benihana and the wait time was pretty normal because we didn't have a reservation. Everything was going perfect until the ending. I suddenly got sick and dizzy and passed out for a moment at the table. The manager was so attentive and concerned. Between him, the couple at the table, my husband and son they all made sure I was good. This had nothing to do with the food. The food was great and the service was great. Thank you to the manager on duty that made sure I was ok and made it to my car safely. He even got me some water to go and orange slices in case my sugar was low! Upsetting must be a regular practice here to increase sells. I ordered one chicken fried rice and my son ordered a steak. The server told him it came with white rice in which he said that was fine. When the chef arrived, he made my son fried rice which was fine and we didn't want to be a bother so he are it. Chef then gave me my bowl of fried rice. We were charged for 3 fried rice. Server said my son upgraded to the fried rice and that I ordereda double rice. So apparently when you eat what the chef gives you, it is an upsell or a double order and you don't even know it. By the time we started with drinks, kids were excited to see chefs on other tables doing cool tricks and chat, they were making people laugh, giggle, wonder, we were all excited for our chef to start. Man, it was total disappointment. Our chef was pretty serious about his business. His goal was to cook and leave. Zero communication with us. Kids were literally waiting for some cool stuff till the end...that never happened. We had to apologize to kids. I should have really asked the chef to go cook inside and send the food. Other servers were good, they took care of our drinks and orders very well. However, I'll never go to a place just to eat fried rice, meat, sushi etc with such high price. Let me just start off by saying I was really hyped up about trying this place once in Dallas for all the wrong reasons. I have my ratchet moments of listening to 2-Chainz and I just wanted to walk in there and order my food and say "I got Benihana Issues", then eat. Sadly, this is what drew me to this place of course my Dallas friend was disgusted by this thought so I refrained from saying it out loud. Despite my wrong attentions this is a great hibachi spot! I visited during lunch time and there was no wait time even at noon, which shocked me. We were seated quickly and food was served fairly quick. Our chef for the lunch time, was funny although he dropped some of the food and at one point someone thought they would be hit with the hot food, it was still a pretty good experience. I ordered the shrimp and scallops and it was a great combo. As a self-proclaimed scallop Connoisseur these scallops were seasoned to perfection leaving me wanting more. I ordered sushi, but they forgot about it and never was brought out, so I was slightly disapointed by that. He was friendly, entertaining, and talented but he overcooked everything by a couple minutes. Rubbery shrimp and medium ribeye isn't very enjoyable.
