The only reason I am giving one star is because the food was decent. Our server Tammy was all over place except our table. We didn't get our waters till 20 mins after we sat, our alcoholic beverages weren't brought to us till about an hour after we sat. She took our drink and dinner order 10 mins after we sat and the chef didn't arrive at our table until we went up to front desk and asked if the forgot about us after about an hour of waiting. We came to celebrate a birthday. Had to ask for our soups and second round of drinks. Worst experience. First and last time at a Benihana's. I am very disappointed in my visit to Benihana. I ordered a specialty dinner and they never served me the ice cream that was included in the meal. Then I left the majority of my chicken and shrimp on my plate to take home and they threw it away before I had a chance to get it to go. So half of the meal was for waste. read more

The food was good overall, but the restaurant was filthy and uncomfortable. Went here at dinner and tried the chicken, steak, and shrimp. The soup was good, the salad was OK, the steak and shrimp were cooked to perfection, but the chicken was bland. The chef didn't put on much of a show, he squirted a ketchup bottle, flung an egg, and set an onion on fire while blowing into a train whistle. We have been to a few other similar restaurants and the chefs at the different places were far more interactive and they had more tricks, so this was disappointing. The restaurant overall seemed run down. The floor was sticky as we walked to the table, it was uncomfortably hot inside the establishment, and we didn't see any of the smoke getting pulled by the fans hoods. Instead, the smoke was going around the vent hoods and slowly filling the restaurant, making the atmosphere more uncomfortable as dinner progressed. At the table where we sat, it was somewhat sticky in spots on top of the table and I saw a lot of leftover crusty old food at various points on the table. It looked like no one had deep cleaned it in some time. The bathrooms were not much better and there was trash thrown in the urinals, pee covering the floor, and the trash cans were overflowing with garbage onto the floor. Made 7:30 pm reservations to celebrate my granddaughter's 10th birthday. Upon arriving we waited 45 minutes to be seated. Waitress was totally unprofessional and unfriendly. Appetizers took a 1 hour to arrive. To place our order we waited 30 minutes. There was a table who sat 30 minutes after we did and they received their appetizers and drinks shortly after. Plates were dirty. Found hair in our food on many occasions. Waitress was frustrated with our table. After waiting for long time for a chef to come to our table, I went and spoke with the assistant manager who was the manager that evening. Jason said he would check to see why it was taking so long and said the table next to us only ordered fried rice and 1 steak. The assistant maager came back to the table 15 minutes later to advise us the chef is getting the cart ready. The table next to us did not just order fried rive and 1 steak, they ordered seafood, chicken, and steak. The chef came 20 minutes. At that point I wanted to leave but because it was so late and nothing else was open the children were hungry and wanted food to eat. I cancelled my order while my family waited patiently for theirs. When it was time to leave the waitress did not cancel the items off my bill and also added items we did not order. The bill was originally $350, by the time she adjusted the bill to the correct amount it was $264. She also told me that I HAD to pay $43.90 for gratuity. After expressing my concerns, my discomfort, the poor service we received and that no one came to our table and sang happy birthday to my granddaughter as seen at other tables that were celebrating a birthday, that I was not comfortable paying the gratuity. She also said the reason why they did not sing was because we wanted to take the cake home. I told her that was no excuse. She kept telling me I had to pay the tip and that it was mandatory. She followed me outside to make sure I came back in to pay the tip. At this point I told my husband to speak with the manager. My husband spoke with assistant manager and expressed the poor service we received and the discrimination we experienced. The assistant manager did not apologize, the waitress stated they did everything right, per assistant manager any restaurant you go to you HAVE to pay gratuity. My husband proceeded to take out his credit card to pay the tip because I had already paid the check of which the waitress tried to run the tip in the transaction while I was trying to pay the food bill, I told him no. I said your not going to be forced to pay for bad service and discrimination. Assistant manager started raising his voice and so did I. He said your not going to be raising your voice at me and threatened to call the police. My husband told him to go ahead. While waiting outside for the police to arrive, assistant manager came outside and took a picture of my. I said to the assistant manager so your going to come out here and take a picture of my car? He shouted "SHUT UP" to me in front of my family and went back inside. The officers came. My husband asked one of the officers to go inside and hear their side first and then come back to here ours. The other officer wanted to know what was going on. We explained the service and treatment we received and she was blown away and says there is no law that states it is mandatory to pay a tip. She told us we did not break any laws and that she was sorry that we had to endure this kind of treatment especially in front of small children. The other officer came out confused and said as long as we paid our bill we did not break any laws by not paying the gratuity. The staff for the restaurant came out to be nosy and the officers told them to go back inside that this does not concern them. Told us to go that we are not in any trouble by the law and apologized again for the service we received! Spoke with GM, apologized on behalf of Asst Mgr. Invited us to come back and to refund our ticket. I declined the revisit. I did not receive my refund. Complaint went to Regional Mgr. Never contacted me regarding this incident. read more

Walked out on Birthday celebration lat Thursday 8/12/21! I made a reservation for 7 confirmed by email & an employee who made a courtesy call to me hours earlier. Upon check-in, we told the hostess that one of our members was on her way. Instead of keeping the reservation for 7 they changed it to 6 (unbeknownst to us) & seated us with a couple. When the 7th member arrived we were rudely advised that our reservation was for 6 & we couldn't have an extra person at the table. Before this our server was so rushed that she didn't allow us any time to review the menu & rushed us to make drink orders. Meanwhile, the rude hostess sends the manager over. He proceeds to approach the situation as if we were in the wrong. After I explained what happened and showed him the emails showing a reservation for 7 & a time-stamped email of the change after we checked in, he stated they they don't change reservations. To this point, I start speaking again and he puts his hand on my arm aggressively to stop me from talking and says ma'am...(at this point I blocked whatever he said out bc you don't touch a patron unless asked)!! He walks away, comes back and asks if we had someone else on the way. When we responded no he tried to save face and say that he was misinformed by the hostess and since none else was coming we were fine. No apology, no incentive for us to stay, nothing! When I called him back to inform him that we felt disrespected (etc.) but wanted to pay for our drinks before we left his response was "you're leaving bc of that little miscommunication, ok you don't have to pay for the drinks". Nonchalantly and unapologetically rude! When the manager doesn't have good customer service of course the staff will follow suit. We had Carlos as our chef and could not have asked for a better experience. He was so attentive to our daughters allergies and our special requests. He made everyone's food to their extra requests. He made sure our daughter had exactly what she wanted and cooked our chicken in a special spicy sauce. I really don't do Yelp reviews but they changed my mind yesterday. I made reservations for my birthday with my family 3 weeks ago and I asked if we could sit facing each other. My reservation was at 8:15 by when I got to the restaurant there was only 2 people from my party missing and they refused to sit us until we knew what they wanted to order and had it written down for them. 8:40 they finally try to sit us down with 2 tables where my party is completely separated from each other. We spoke to the manager and told us to wait 10-15 min for another table. By 9:20 we were finally able to be seated, waitress still took another 30 min to get our order which made completely no sense as to why they couldn't sit us before. Food was not worth the money, very overpriced. This was definitely my first and last time coming here. And in conclusion your reservation really doesn't mean anything. read more

We got sat at 8 and did not see a chef until 9:30 last night on 7/31/22. We had been sitting in the bar area already for 20 min waiting on our reservation and had spent 30 plus on drinks prior to getting seated . We asked to speak to the manager who made excuses and who said "well the chef is here now" as we waited 1.5 hours on him to begin with and we had a 4 year old with us whose birthday it was and a younger sibling who had not had dinner. The manager was very unprofessional and did not seem to care no one had eaten especially very young children who had been waiting for hours. The whole table of 8 chose to leave the service was so bad and the manager was beyond unpleasant about it all. He did nothing to compensate other than say "well sorry" as the whole table left. Last night we brought my mom for her first time to Benihana. We were excited for her experience but sucks to say we left very disappointed. Started off great. We walked in with no reservations, and they quickly sat us. But only to wait 15 minutes for our waiter to take our drink order. She was then MIA for another 20 minutes and then came back with half the drinks. I understand the restaurant was busy but we sat right by the bar and saw when the drinks were made. After she dropped off the drinks, a young lady spilt her drink all over the hot plate. It made a loud noise and the waiter quickly came back to see what happened. She then went grab another drink and went MIA again. Meanwhile, the hot plate is cooking the spilt drink. The sugar cooked then burned on the plate. She came back, took our order and later came back with the soup. She went MIA again until the chef came and brought our salads. When the chef came out, he was not happy. Waiter never cleaned up the drink and the sugar burned on the plate. It took him 30 minutes to clean the plate. He did not do any tricks for our table and the food tasted burnt. He did not add any butter or sauce on our food. We attend hibatchi not only for the food but experience. We did not get either. read more

We've always had a pleasant experience at Benihana's and of course, the day you have guest who have never been and experienced the quality of service was the day the service/experience was horrible! We visited the restaurant and of course, there was a wait, but that was to be expected. Our seats were placed near the back door which I questioned our location but felt it was ok. It started to rain HARD and once other customers were finished with their dinner; they decided to use the door next to our table which was closest to the garage :( When the first customer opened the door, we were showered with rain and wind. We did advise our waitress but nothing was really done to fix the issue. Here comes another customer. At this point, I am agitated because we were getting wet and now there is a puddle of water behind our chairs. I visited the front desk to ask them to move us to another table but I never saw anyone so we took matters into our own hands. We moved 3 chairs from the table and blocked the door to discourage customers from going out of the door. Not only did we get wet, but NO ONE even the manager tried to handle the situation. What a great first time impression!! It will be awhile before our visit this place again!!! read more

Very disappointed in our Benihana experience. It was a birthday and a party members first time ever at Benihana. They were clearly overbooked and understaffed. Our chef was not fun at all. He did none of the tricks and fun things during cooking, and did not say more than 10 words total from start to finish. We could've have gone to any hibachi, but we chose Benihana because it's normally a fun time, but we left disappointed. The server was split between at least 4 tables, so we were left with no drink refills, late soup and salad, and late appetizers. It almost embarrassing that you rant and rave about a place to someone and when you finally take them there, they are not happy during the visit. Will probably not return since this seems to be a common problem with this Benihana, covid or not. Again, the chef experience was horrible and so disappointing. You're paid to be entertaining while you cook, and he did not want to do anything but cool the food and get out of there. One last time... very disappointed in our service. read more

Made a reservation for Saturday 5:15pm. Got there exactly on time. The restaurant was empty except for one other table, but we were made to wait 10 minutes. People who came in after us, with no reservation, were seated immediately. During the very long wait for our waitress to take our drink orders, a gigantic cricket hopped over to our table to say hello. Various staff members walked by it and pretended not to notice, so I stepped on it and kicked it towards some other table. I guess they escaped from the soup? Placing our drink orders and waiting for the drinks to come took a good 15 minutes. Keep in mind the restaurant was 90% empty. After ordering all of our entrees with the fried rice that our waitress offered, I discovered that the fried rice is an additional charge. I don't know when they started charging for this basic staple of hibachi food. I had to retract several orders of fried rice and change them to steamed rice. Note that 4 people in my party ordered steamed rice and never got it because the absent-minded waitress never brought it. The chef was below average. There was some throwing of shrimp tails and a tiny bit of fire but nothing like I've come to expect at Benihana or other hibachi restaurants. I ordered the chicken with noodles which, for whatever reason, cost around $20, even though it contains maybe $4 of food. The fried rice had no flavor and I ended up dumping all of the mustard sauce on it so I could taste what I was eating. The very tiny portion of vegetables, mostly onion, was good, but much less than I expected. My yakisoba noodles were left cooking, untouched, for a good 10 minutes longer than it should have. Some of the noodles were fried to a crisp, and the little bit of chicken that was mixed in was severely overcooked, dry, and somewhat crunchy. Just before the final course was served, I discovered that one of my kids had no plate and thus missed all of the previous courses (vegetables, shrimp, etc.) Long after we finished eating, with no drink refills of course, the waitress brought the check. We did not get the iced cream or tea that was supposed to be included in all of our meals.
