We have been to this Benihana twice within the last 2 months to celebrate both my boys birthdays. It was their choices to come here. It's popular place to celebrate a birthdays, yes? I will have to say this location is pretty inconsistent. Food is always good, but inconsistent. Last month when we went for one of the boys birthdays, they both got chef hats. Last night when we went to celebrate the other boy's birthday, no chef hats, even though I specifically said it's for a birthday when I called to make the reservation and then reminded them about the birthday when we checked in. Our chef was nice enough. However, NONE but one of the typical hibachi "tricks" was done. No "egg roll" or tossing of the eggs, no banging of the cooking utensils, no jokes. The only thing he did was the volcano with the onions and blew the train whistle. My husband and I had commented on the lack of showmanship last month and chalked it up to an inexperienced chef we got that night. But tonight, our chef was lacking more so than the last chef. Oh I forgot, he did toss the shrimp tails into his shirt pocket and hat. My boys were bored and unimpressed. I could see it in their eyes they were waiting for more, but more never came. On to some more inconsistencies. The fried rice. Our family was served the fried rice first. I had looked at our bowls and though they were a bit skimpy but didn't mention anything. Then I saw the party next to us. Their fried rice bowls were over flowing! Usually the chefs would make it all the same and what's left over he divvies up between everyone so the bowls don't look so inconsistent. Then the veggies. There was a TON of onions. However, everyone just got one length wise slice of zucchini! Then it was cut into like 5 pieces. I remember getting a bit more than that. Why serve all that dipping sauce if there's not even much to dip?! Then it was desert and happy birthday time. Literally, there were 2 employees there singing happy birthday to my 7 year old. Perhaps they were busy on a Monday night. However, I would assume you can gather more than 2 employees and take less than 3 minutes to sing happy birthday? Again, no chef hat for the birthday boy to be seen. He even questioned it "I didn't get a hat this time!" I thought paying a little bit more at Benihana would yield more experienced chefs and more of an experience. I guess I thought wrong. We'll be taking a break from this place for awhile and go back to other local hibachi places. BENIHANA - You're a well-known brand. If you want to keep a good reputation with your brand, fix your process, train your people and be consistent across the board. Need help? I bill hourly for my consulting services. We looked forward to this for a month only to be seated by the hostess (yes, we had reservation) and rudely yelled at by the bartender with short hair that some other couple has been waiting. Then the hostess seated us anyway. A minute later, the hostess said she seated the wrong people meaning us and said we had to get up. Our entire party was upset and felt this could have been better handled. Poor management. Never had this embarrassing situation happen before. We wondered what was going on. Let me just say I never knew what Benihana was and I met this gentle man out one day named Dajon and he told me about how friendly and great the food was. I had been looking for a good place to eat in Texas for awhile and I took his word for it. When I showed up Tiffany greeted me at the door with big smiles and took the time to go over specials and great deals. I must say it is very hard to impress me and I went in thinking they were not going to meet my standards, but the staff and food were AMAZING. Japanese Steakhouses are often great fun for my family and our visit to Benihana's was no exception. I firmly believe the experience being either good or bad hinges on the performance of the chef. If the chef if stiff the event will not be as enjoyable. I came in with my entourage (wife and kids) and all of us had a great time. Our chef was hilarious and engaging. He even had a few tricks up his sleeve that I have not seen before which is rare. The menu is essentially the same as any Japanese Steakhouse I've been too. I will say the portion size of my steak was smaller than I expected, but lucky for me, my kids did not eat all of their steak so I ensured non of the food went to waste and left completely full and happy (or is it "fat and ha..." oh never mind). We will most certainly be back to this location and I'll give the kids a snack before we get there so I can finish their plates ;) read more

After watching a family with a boy about the same age as my older son have a ball at another teppan restaurant while away on business in Dublin, GA I decided to bring my family here for dinner to see if my little boys would have a ball too. Well our party had three adults and three children (2yr/3yr/4yr). A couple on a date shared the table with our party. My wife and I had the "chef's special" which was a shrimp and chicken special for two at a relatively cheap $36. Our friend ordered something with beef and shrimp and the children had a kids size shrimp and chicken dish with fried rice which was extra for everyone in our party. First off, I really took the kids there for the "show" and the food was a secondary thought. But, I don't know if it was because we had kids at the table or not but the "chef" really held back on the "show" and we felt we were not really getting the full treatment that I've seen at other locations. Even the couple that shared our table felt that way and left disappointed. So since the "show" was disappointing I started to actually think about how the food was and I have to say that it was really under seasoned. Ehh I heard so much about this place that I was so excited. It was my first time here on a Friday night. Made our reservation so we came early and went to the bar for a few drinks. Bartender were horrible didn't say a word to use for like 7 minutes. And the bar looked like a mess. Ones we were up next to our table. Our server was nice lady. The chef was great too. To me it was expensive for that food. Plus since it was my first time up there I didn't know when to eat. Onion soup was great but the salad had a nasty dressing for me, like mustard. read more

By and large, one of my favorite spots to eat in Dallas. I have dined at every Benihana location in the metroplex, and it is the perfect mix of ambiance and good food. Oh boy, do I love Benihana. There's something so campy and kitschy yet classy all at the same time. We've celebrated a few birthdays here over the years - most recently my 25th. There's nothing quite like drinking a bunch of sake and Tom Collin's and chasing it with amazing fried rice. Seriously, the garlic butter (that they put on just about everything) is incredible and a game changer. A typical order for me includes filet mignon and lobster. Go big or go home, right? It's pretty steep, but for the number of courses you're getting and the quality of food, I always feel that I got my money's worth. The oniony, mushroomy soup is delicious. Quickly followed by a simple salad with ginger dressing, your choice of rice, shrimp appetizer, and your entree. The best part is the Haagen-Dazs ice cream, which in no way goes with the meal. But it's Haagen-Dazs, so it goes with everything. Mainly more Haagen-Dazs. I love that they still take photos of your party and print out a copy for you. I've been to other hibachi restaurants, but this was my first time at Benihana. Not bad! It's great for a special occasion because you also get great service, and our chef was sooo nice! The hibachi fried rice is $3 extra -- normally, you get steamed rice. But it's worth it! Use the orange sauce for meat on your fried rice. Super good. The rice is not as buttery as other hibachi places, so it's nice to have that sauce for the flavor. I recommend the chef's specials. Huge portions compared to their regular menu. Also, be careful who you sit with since they seat you with strangers. At the table across from us, there was a drunk man dropping the F bomb in front of several kids he was sitting with! I love Benihana. It's always been our "special occasion" go-to restaurant. Recently a very wonderful friend of mine had a birthday and I was super excited to take him to Behihana for his birthday and his 1st experience there. He was the only man at the table, and loved that. Our chef was amazing and included everyone in the show. Our food was spot on, our server suggested drinks that were great! I even got this ole Texas man to try sushi and he loved it. Since it was his birthday, we got a commemorative photo, for free. We had a great, great dinner. I'm new to the city/state so I've been wanting to try this place after hearing talks about it. We initially tried to order through Door Dash but they restaurant cancelled our order saying they were too busy so I said I would drive to get it. My partner placed a to go order over the phone because she wasn't feeling well. Now I heard her place the order which was simple. It was a 6oz hibachi chicken rice (which she asked her to sub the rice for noodles and the person that answered Ashley made it seem impossible to do), hibachi shrimp and steak with fried rice and Las Vegas roll. Simple right?? Nah once arriving I got the food and was told everything was in the bag. First of all hey stuffed all of the food in a tight bag so I didn't wanna take all of that out and there was no space in there for me to do so and check anything. The guy that rang me up was sneezing al over the place and Ashley grabbed my food from him as quick as she could. I was really disgusted at that point. I went to the car and went ahead and checked my food to see if everything was there. I'm glad I did because my sushi was missing. The receipt they gave me didn't have the order on it just the total which was $49.90. I thought that was kind of steep for what we ordered but I wasn't sure. Once inside Ashley tells me sushi was never mentioned in which it was but I placed an order for it. I get home to really look at the food and almost everything was wrong. Instead of switching the rice for noodles they put rice and noodles together with the chicken and gave me another 6oz of the hibachi chicken rice and her order was with regular white rice. How do you mess up that bad when all you have to do is write the order down and if you don't comprehend just ask for clarification! On top of that the food wasn't even that good. I love going hibachi grills and the same thing never gets old for me, well it usually doesnt until tonight. The only reason I even went here was because I had recieved a voucher for up to $30 for my meal during my birthday month. Even with my meal being almost near free, it wasnt worth it. First, the service was horrible, I had to ask to have my 4 oz glass of Ginger Ale (which cost me $2.75 for about a 12 oz in total) to be refilled on several occasions. Here are the pros about this location: FREE valet parking, an amazing coupon if you join their birthday club, and a kickass bartender. I usually go to happy hour here because it is the best deal for sushi lovers. Sushi rolls are about between $3- $5, and the drinks are priced around the same price. The mojitos are fantastic. Most people know what Benihana is so I'm going to talk about my favorite feature, their Happy Hour. The Happy Hour is only offered at the bar, but it's awesome. They have a large menu of heavily discounted food and drinks. Also, its Mon - Thur 4-8pm. The 8pm is a huge bonus for me because I'm typically at the office until 630. Also, to bring it all together, the bartenders are awesome. I highly recommend checking it out if you want to grab a drink after work or get some normally expensive food at a great price. read more

I ate here for lunch and ordered the double lunch combo of chicken and beef with fried rice. It wasnt very flavorful. I had to ask for teriyaki sauce on the beef to give it flavor. I did love the rice though! They put chicken in their fried rice which is great for a carnivore like myself. I would not pay what their dinner prices are. Way to much for what it is. I feel like I could order this food out of a whole in the wall restaurant and it would be the same. They charge a lot just to have someone cook it in front of you. Had reset for Mother's Day. Arrived on time and had to wait longer than expected or needed. The host gave my reservations to another guest there for my party had to wait to be seated. We were given a bad table with a very very bad cook! Part of going to Benihana's to experience all the tricks of the hibachi cook. Our cook was inexperienced and said he had been on the job for four weeks of which two weeks were training.weeks. He stated that the cooks are supposed to have a five week training course. He had no tricks to show! He simply put the food on the grill and toss it around in oil. That's it! Not to mention our eating experience was a little grossed out because the cook had no teeth in the front. This was not a pleasant thing to say before eating! I will never go to Benihana's again! The restaurant appears dingy and gritty as well. This restaurant has certainly gone downhill! There are too many hibachi grill restaurants to choose from besides Benihana's. read more

We have been to many Benihanas and well, the food was great, cannot complain on the chef. However service is more than frustrating, the waitress was decent but the manager was horrible. My husband was using his American Express card but the manager insisted the card was being declined. My husband told her it was impossible and she kept insisting it was. Kids were getting antsy so we decided to wait outside to avoid meltdowns and an inconvenience to the rest of the customers. She continued to lie and my husband was getting aggravated, she insisted on a different form of payment. It was the only card he had so he asked her to bring or take him to the terminal where the card was being processed and she refused to. After this, the card magically worked, not sure what her deal was but we wasted a good 15 minutes doing this....we won't go back to this Benihana, there are many wonderful local hibachi places or q different Benihana :/ read more

Benihana is a truly unique experience even for seasoned veterans of the hibachi crowd. Never had bad service, this location especially has smiling faces and a great community feel. As for the menu Benihana is truly a master of hibachi cuisine. I personally recommend their fried rice as it's unmatched as far as I've tried. This dump of a so-called "restaurant" is a pure disgrace. After waiting 45 minutes and checking in regularly about every 10 minutes with them they told me they "called" me and struck my party off the list because they couldn't find me. I confronted the hostess/manager and had her admit that they couldn't find me because they never bothered looking even though I was sitting in the waiting area. After admitting she never looked for me she told once again blurted out to another employee that they couldn't find me. If they lack integrity in their service then I wonder how compromised they are in their food prep. There's no way I'm going to pay them and be lied to twice. There are plenty of other great restaurants out there. Unless you're with a 5 yr old, skip the onion volcano show and go find yourself a better restaurant with more integrity and great food.
