Made a reservation for a party of 7. Six of us arrived at the same time and the last member was at the stop light 5 minutes away (which we informed the hostess). It was an early reservation (it's always a good idea to reserve at Benihana even when it is not busy), and the restaurant was pretty much empty. We were told to wait, so we stood in the empty restaurant and waited on the last member of our party. I understand why the rule is in place to require entire party, but it was a bit humorous/awkward/etc. and they actually sat us early after about a 2 minute wait. We weren't complaining or anything, it was just a surreal moment where we felt like the hostess thought we were lying about another person arriving. The last member of our party walked in as they were seating us so disaster was averted... To the meal. It was great. I really enjoy the food here and have no complaints with the service. Celebrated my son's birthday last night. As many times as we've dined at Beni's (in Cali and now Texas), we've never had a bad meal. Last night was no exception. The food was great, the chef was pretty funny, and my family had a good time. My only issue was that our server wasn't as attentive as they normally are. We had to get her attention, to have her take my wife & son's salad & soup bowls, and this was well into the chef doing his thing. We had our fried rice and shrimp appetizer before we could even get her attention. This was not like service we are used to at Benihana. Don't get me wrong, she was friendly, just not as attentive as they normally are. Overall, still a good experience and we'll be back! read more

This was my worst restaurant visit in years. There was dirty water dripping from the ceiling and splashing on us. Very slow service. The waiter was very cordial, just needed training. Hibachi cook took forever. Sushi was ok, but my hibachi entre was terrible, no flavorings but soy sauce and took about an hour from the time I ordered. The custom birthday Ice cream cake, that we provided, for our Birthday Girl was destroyed by being saved in the refrigerator and not the freezer. This is a standard place to go for certain work events and family celebrations. If you have gone more than a few times it's hard to get excited for the train whistle, flaming onion volcano and shrimp flips. I was extremely excited to take my husband here as he never had a hibachi style lunch/dinner. We walked in on a Sunday and it wasn't extremely busy. We were seated about maybe 20 minutes later and then came the longest wait of our life. We were asked what we wanted to drink about 15 minutes later, and then another 15 minutes later our orders were taken. We received our soups/salads about 10 minutes after that and then the wait begin for our chef. Once he came around another several minutes later he had to go down the table and make sure each order was correct. I think it honestly took about an hour to an hour and a half to even get him to start cooking our meals. By the time we started getting anything we were so hungry that we devoured our fried rice before our protein and vegetables even hit our plate. We went during a non-busy time thinking that would help us with our wait time, but obviously it didn't. Taking my husband there for the first time was kind of a bust, I don't know how hectic lunchtime or dinner time would have been but I'm glad we avoided that. All in all, the food was mediocre compared to some of the other hibachi places I've tried. If you plan on going to this particular location, I advised you to not come in starving, maybe have something light to eat before you come in because you will not get any food until almost an hour and a half to two hours after being seated. :-( read more

Literally the WORST Benihanna location I've ever been to. I placed an order for pickup and when I got home, I noticed my extra side of shrimp was not in the bag. I called the restaurant and the hostess was so rude. She accused me of stealing!!! Then I talked to the manager, Brandon, and he accused me of stealing!! He said his employees would never lie and then went on to say he would have to check the security camera in the kitchen to see what happened to my $10 of missing shrimp. I was appalled!! Never in my life of working in the service industry have I ever experienced this! I went on to say "why would I leave a 10% tip on a take order, literally $5, to call them and lie and say my $10 side order is missing?" Then Brandon said they would refund me and chaulk it up as a "mysterious occurrence" that my side order went missing. How completely cynical and rude!! Im still in disbelief and I never received a refund! Don't waste your time going to this location. There are far better locations in the DFW that will treat you with more respect. read more

I really want to give 0 star but it's not a option. We had reservations for 1030. We were taken to a table and sat down only to be moved to another table because the first did not have a server. We waited 45 minutes for water. 1.5 hours to order and 2 hours before food was started on the grill. When visiting the issue with manager he gave excuses without an apology, was arrogant and proceeded to tell us his work history as a manager which was not relevant to the the problem. So finally we get to the food and all was over cooked seasoned with char and toughness. This experience is at the top of the list of awful. I will never return. There was no service excellence nor any true measure of service recovery. read more

Great bang for your buck if you're craving a protein , side salad, tempura ,California roll and some sliced sashimi AND onion soup and edamame ! I have ate at a different location not faraway dine in and received a bigger portion of food. When I called and asked it was stated it was pre measured and accurate, however the 5 oz of steak was on mine but not five ounces of chicken as they said there was. Plus I did not receive the shrimp appetizer. I love to dine in but with a small child I do not often have time so this was disappointing to have a difference on dine in vs take out and be told it was still the same when it was not. 5 of us went to Benihana's for a birthday celebration tonight with a reservation made several days in advance. After we all arrived, we found out their AC wasn't working. Reading one of the other reviews, it appears the AC has been on the blink more than just today. It would have been nice to have received a call or text letting us know before hand so we could decide if we wanted to go tonight or wait until the AC was fixed and go another night. It was truly so hot and uncomfortable in the restaurant, sweat was dripping off of all of us. Not only was a courtesy call in order that we never received, but never once did a Manager come to our table to check in or apologize, offer a free appetizer, gift card or anything. Nor did our server, who at the end of our meal, as my husband was checking over the bill, as we were paying for five people, stood there starring at him waiting for us to pay. We finally ask nicely for a minute to look over the bill. Then leaving the restaurant, there were five very young employees standing at the hostess desk just chatting away and not one looked up to say Thank You, or sorry for your inconvenience.....absolutely NOTHING!!! We've been to this Benihanas for about every birthday in or family. We usually go on the weekends but we went on a Tuesday night for my husbands birthday. Let me just say it's a different experience on a weeknight. We had a reservation at 515, the service was so slow. Our waiter was not in a hurry to do anything, I had to ask him to do the birthday picture, bring out the birthday sundae and they never sang happy birthday to my husband, I had to ask for our steamed rice that we ordered, we never got drink refills that we paid for. Part of the reason people pay their food prices is because of the experience and this one was not good. Even my 4 and 6 year old asked why didn't they sing to you dad? Why didn't they throw chicken in our mouths? Why didn't they bring us ice cream? Why didn't we get more lemonade? We also had gift cards that we bought at Christmas time. They advertised buy $50 and get $10 for free. They couldn't figure out how to use them and told me they were from a 3rd party company but I bought them from Benihanas website. A very very bad experience and lame birthday dinner. Won't be coming back! read more

Some say it's pricey but I beg to differ. You have to pay for what you want. On average I spend at least $40 just for myself here, but that's average price to me. Benihana is in my top 3 favorite restaurants to eat at. So it sucks to rate this location only 3 stars. Wel first off the ambiance was the same as all the others that I have been to as well as the service. So I have no complaints in that department. However, the chef didn't take direction very well. He over cooked my filet mignon & over cooked beef is just down right DISGUSTING!!!! Also, I kept telling him to put more than just a pinch of garlic butter on my food & he totally disregarded that. They're know for their garlic butter & quite frankly is what makes the food pop. So I had to get it on the side & put extra on myself versus having it put on while my food is being prepared. Went for my son's birthday. I was super excited and he had fun but our chef and server did not make the experience amazing at all. The server was slow and not friendly at all. The chef although talented had little personality and was not Asian which changed the experience all together. The food was good but needed spice for sure. Such a horrible experience!!! Went to Benihana with a large group of friends total of 14 so we were split into two tables. I'm vegan and when I ordered my food I ordered the tofu and requested veggie fried rice with no eggs. When the cook came out he went over our orders and complained about my order he said it was "painful". So he cooks the rice puts tons of butter in it and proceeds to serve me rice with chicken in it so I said that I don't eat meat and there should be no butter in my rice either so he gives everyone else extra rice and keeps cooking. I thought that he would make me another batch of rice but instead he proceeded to cook everything else and put lots of butter in everything including the vegetables after I said that I can't have butter in my food. At the end all I ate was tofu. Others at the table complained that their meats were over cooked and tough. Our food took way longer than our friends at the other table they were done and ready to go about 30 minutes before we got all our food served. We did speak to the manager and let her know about the poor service. This was my first time going to Benihana and after that experience I will definitely not be coming back. read more

Highly disappointed with the Benihana located in Plano. If you would want to go to Benihana, go to the Banner location in Dallas (Much, much cleaner and better service!). I visited this location with my family and it was not that busy. We received the worst service from a server named Mimi. She took so long that we had to ask other servers for help, including the manager. Not only did we receive bad customer service, but the food gave me food poisoning!!!!!! This is one of my favorite birthday dinner spots. I come here for special occasions like a special date night or birthday dinner! I came here with my boyfriend for his 19th. Good quality food for the price and LOTS of food for the price. I recommend coming VERY hungry And scheduling a reservation! Our server was great about refilling drinks and our cook was HILARIOUS! It was just a bit too loud for me. There's always a lot of kids so it's not really a romantic spot. Let me start off with the good. The service at our table was good. Even though it took quite some time, the chef did an awesome job and was very entertaining. This saved the night. But, at the start, this did not go so well. We had a party of 7 which we had reservations at 7:30. Some of our party came in at 7 and we arrived at 7:15 and checked in. There was some confusion at the beginning but was told we would be notified when our table was ready. Cool! We went to the bar area and waited. Around 7:40 we inquired as to about when we would be seated. We were told "soon" and "we're working on it". At 7:50 we inquired again and were told is should "be ready shortly". At 7:55 I walked up to the host stand again and wanted a definite time. I was told, the usual that they were working on it. Not good enough, I reiterated that we had reservations at 7:30 and wanted a table now. The hostess then said okay and told me to get our party. Why the delay tactics? This is third time that I have used OpenTable at restaurants to make reservations for 5-7 people and have had to wait an excessive time to get a table. One restaurant, not this one, took over an hour and a half. If they are going to take a reservation for that size, they need to honor that reservation. If not, save everyone the time and don't take it, so other arrangements or expectations can be made before hand. read more

Had dinner here on 12/26 and restaurant seemed unprepared for dinner guests. We waited a considerable amount of time for the cook to arrive at the table. The waiter (it was his third day working there, bless him) kept apologizing and finally got the Manager. We did get a discount on our bill, but waiting for the cook wasn't the only issue. There weren't napkins on the table when we were seated. There was another table with linens piled up as if they had recently been delivered. And....the new sauce they have replaced the mustard sauce with is no replacement. :-)Be sure to ask for the mustard sauce.....the sauces are why we choose this restaurant over Kobe. First time at this location: Ate here this evening and I was very impressed. The ambiance is much better that the one in north Dallas. The staff was really attentive from host to server and the chef. It definitely had the preferred or high end treatment feel. The chef wasn't super personable or hugely comedic but he entertained very well and most importantly Was ref cooked very well! I ordered the steak and chicken which both were cooked perfectly. YThe hibachi shrimp, edamame, veggie tempura, grilled veggies were all awesome. The fried rice was really good but not the normal greatness that I've had at my other Benihana experiences. I think it was a little over cooked. Like I said though, it was still really good! Here for mother's day celebration and made an early reservation for 530. Waited 45 minutes to be seated and the staff was indifferent even though we had an infant with us. People who came after us were seated early. Another party with us said this happens EVERY time they come to this location. I've dined in a couple times before. Everything was fine, ordered take out a couple times since I work in the shops. Today, I ordered a simple onion soup and an agedashi tofu appetizer. When I picked up the food, walked back to work during my short break, they messed up mine and another colleague's order. I called back and told them what was missing and what was wrong and they said they would re-make my food. I get my food re-made and had it for lunch. Later on that day I started to feel ill. My wife and I normally go to the Dallas location and have no issues but this location stinks. We had reservations at 8:30p and made it on time. We were seated and it took a long time to get our drinks ordered, drinks delivered, and our order taken. On top of that the guy who took the order was a little snippy.
