You even get a complimentary photo taken (they print it for you and you can download copies online!) as well as ice cream for dessert if it's a birthday celebration. We were taken care of SO well by our waitress. She told my mom what to get in order to best use her $30, and threw in free edamame as well. I got the sushi buffet, and our waitress told us that she would turn a blind eye if my mom wanted to share my rolls, or if I couldn't finish all the pieces I ordered. (policy is you have to pay extra if you don't finish eating, and you can't share with other ppl at your table) She also would see what I ordered, then recommended other rolls she thought I would like. They don't have a whole lot of variety, but you can get nigiri, hand rolls, or maki, and the fish is very fresh. They have one roll that's baked that was AMAZING. She also asked us if we'd like to try Benihana's signature homemade soup--GET IT. Skip the traditional miso. They boil chicken, add vegetables, let it boil...it's so good. It's a traditional, light, Asian-momma-made soup. That too, she gave to us for free. Their sushi buffet is more expensive than other places you'll find in the city though ($27). But for a good sushi buffet in the burbs, it's a good place to go. They treat you like guests that have come into their house :) read more

My experience was awesome! The cook was very skilled (George). also i watched other cooks.. Weren't that good as George. I had the scallops, were cooked perfect! Also i had The miso soup, because i didn't want the onion soup... Nooo problem. They were nice ab it. I will definitely come back here. Loved every second of it! read more

I like Benihana in wheeling...we have been coming here for years! The food is tasty and it's a fun experience. I'm not the biggest fan of the sushi however since its very simple I certainly wouldn't come here for the sushi alone. My kids are entertained every time, this recent visit Jose was our hibachi chef who did a great job with the chocho train and shrimp tail flipping into his hat. We came here on a Saturday evening and the place was completely packed, we did receive excellent service from our waitress even though she was running around. Jamie our server was great very personable and attentive. The food was amazing as usual and haiku colada was perfection.

Lunch with coworkers and will review afterwards. Now for the review.....awesome. Our cook was pretty quick and efficient with our meals...and the fact he was being social as he was doing all this was pretty cool..confident of his skills, which assured me good eats. I ate at a place similar to this in North Carolina and it really reminded me of that as it was as pleasurable. Cool utensils (which I asked to buy a plate and they said...no.) Oh boy, what an entertaining night! We started with happy hour in the bar, some good specials on drinks and sushi. Very nice waitress who was helpful and knowledgeable. Then the "show" started. Our chef must of been new, not a big deal I understand you have to learn somehow. He dropped his knife doing his quick flips 3 times, did no extra moves, like putting stuff in his hat or burning things a mile high....but he did drop his salt shaker on the floor. lol. At a place where you pay a lot of money to see a show, this shouldn't be the norm. I expected better. He proceeded to cook up our dishes, i made sure to inform the waiter i didn't want mushrooms, asked if i could sub it out for something but i guess not since he didn't bring extra onions like i asked. On top of paying 24 dollars for steak habachi, it costed an additional 4 dollars for fried rice? Really? disappointing... Now for the kicker, waiter has shrimp ready to go, i ordered steak. He asks... "Shrimp?" I say no no! and wave my hand over my plate, he proceeds to dump the shrimp on my plate... nope.. that was the lady's order over there. So now he has to get more shrimp ordered and I am getting the stink eye from a lady i don't know. Fun. Just one blunder after another. Luckily I wasn't allergic to fish or anything, but i think the chef needed some more training before being put on the floor. And again for the price we paid, i expected better. Came for dinner. Seemed the waiter had a problem with my husband..... lobster smelled super nasty when put on the grill. I warned my husband not to eat. He took one bite and immediately forked me a piece. One smell...: omg was awful. The lady at our table at hers. I have no idea how. She will for sure be sick tonight! Made a reservation for 5:30, showed up about 2 minutes early with half of my party, and were told we had to wait for the rest of our party and then we would be seated. The remainder of our party showed up about 15 minutes later. After an hour we were still not seated, and were told we would be seated soon. There was no one else waiting besides us, and there was barely anyone in the restaurant. After another 10 minutes of waiting we still were not seated and decided to leave. Eventually our reservation was canceled by the restaurant 20 minutes after we left. No need for us to be waiting and many people who had come in well after us, were seated before us. read more

Decided to try Benihana as it was the closest hibachi style restraunt to me. My party arrived at 8:30 and we were seated by 8:40. Food was okay nothing amazing they do the typical onion train and pulsing heart tricks. Ordered the teriyaki chicken. It was a bit dry and not nearly as good as places like Tsukasa or Rokbonki. Food came with a complimentary soups and salad. Both were okay. What I really didn't like was the fact that they charge an extra $4.90 for fried rice as opposed to having it as an option. Most places like Tsukasa and Rokbonki don't charge the extra $5 for adding soy sauce vegetables and a tiny bit of chicken to rice. Overall food was ehh and would rather drive an extra 10 minutes to have a cheaper and better meal at Rokbonki. Not horrible but not the best. read more

Can't give a zero but that's what they deserve. Food was horrible. No flavor they used salt only on everything except the rice and noodles we ordered. And he literally used a drizzle of soy sauce . The rice and noodles were basically white. He seasoned the shrimp with just lemon only. Panda Express taste better than this. We are not from this area we usually go to Hamada. Benihanas has small portions no seasoning and no personality of the chef. I had to take my food home and hope I can add some flavor. The mixed vegetables are just zucchini and onions and the onion soup was bland at best. We brought our twins here for dinner tonight. The service was awesome. Our chef was very entertaining and talked the twins a lot. Our food was delicious and cooked just the way we like it. They came out and sang Happy Birthday to the twins, gave them each their own bowl of ice cream with a candle, and took a picture that they gave to us in a little frame. They also ensured to follow the current COVID-19 phase rules. Definitely will go back for another special occasion! read more

Drive 15min more to Schaumburg, IL Benihana Service was terrible, I went on my lunch break and made reservations. It took 45min for the cook to come out and start cooking and he kept messing up everyone at the table order. It was extremely frustrating. by the time my food was ready I couldn't eat it. I had to take it with me and couldn't even get the ice cream I paid for. Never again would I come to this location. Horrible. read more

I have no idea why they are so busy. We went there on a Saturday night while in town for our sons graduation from Navy boot camp. He suggested Habachi so we went to celebrate. The four of us ordered a variety of dishes; Filet, scallops, shrimp, fried rice and chicken. The food had zero taste. Everyone at our table (including the other 4 at the table) talked about how tasteless the food was. No one took home leftovers. It was the worst $200 we ever spent. The server had the worst attitude he was mad because he rang everything together without asking so he got mad and slammed the credit card machine on the table and mumbled in spanish nothing good of course little did he know I know spanish really unprofessional this place is not cheap and to be threated like that was really dissapointing we complained to the manager she was good but servers like that will bring the business down. read more

How does a steak start falling apart upon being laid on the grill? On March 20th 2019 I ate at Benihana's as I have been eating at hibachi grill restaurants for my birthday celebration for about the last twenty years. This year I celebrated at the Benihana on Commercial Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale by the Sea. I ordered the Land and Sea and two others at the table had ordered Filets also. As the steaks were first set on the grill, I noticed the steaks seemed to have been butchered unusually as they looked cut up, and had little, half bubble like holes. When they were flipped, they looked like road kill or something similar so I took the attached picture. I don't know exactly what was wrong with them, but the cook hadn't put a knife to them yet, and the only thing I could think of was a YouTube video I had seen about meat cuts being pieced together using meat glue to appear like more expensive cuts. I knew the stuff from the video wasn't toxic, but due to the bacteria problems that can arise, I was glad my steak sat on the grill the longest (those eating with me were eating shrimp). The cook used a lot of extra butter so the meat would still taste juicy and not wanting to go elsewhere, I ate it. It was edible. I used to always eat the tuna steak there, but after believing I was served oil fish about three years ago, I stopped ordering that. This is the last straw though. The Commercial Blvd location has been going downhill and the cooks seem to always be changing since the tuna incident. Don't know where in the process things went wrong, but they are wrong. Food was overcooked this evening, and it wasn't just that those zucchini stayed on the grill while all of the steaks were cooked and served. Also, the cook's ability to entertain was worse than at places that aren't trying to copy Benihanas. Never returning to this location. read more

After church we decided to try somewhere different for lunch, so we picked Bennihanas. By the time everyone got there we took up two tables (16 adults and kids). We asked for separate checks, but the hostess told us "you must pay as a whole table." Really? Just because we know each other? If I came in, just with my family, they would have sat us with people at a half empty table and I would have had my own check. From then on, the hostess was cold and unfriendly. It almost seemed like they wanted our order so they could rush us through and get us out of there. The chef did a good job entertaining us, but the chicken and scallops were WAY overcooked. But the worst came when we got the bill. The waitress had been asking the kids what they wanted to drink without checking with the parents, and she KEPT bringing them more - at $4 a pop! Without our knowing the kid's drink order was over $30! And then they added 18% on top (probably why they didn't want separate checks). Overall a bad experience. We won't be back. read more

Get the chicken fried rice. It is my favorite. Ever. I've tried recreating this at home but it never tastes the same.... their secret definitely lies in their garlic butter. Whenever we come here, we order a platter of the fried rice to go. They're huge and reasonable priced! Food and service has always been solid here. Weekends can get crowded and make for a very long/slow meal... but its not unbearable. Love coming here during lunch for that reason, also because of the cheaper entree prices. They also aren't as elaborate with the teppan tricks if you're fine with skipping on that part. read more

Very poor customer service, they cram as many people theY can in one grill area.....they seat 11-12 people and everyone is elbow to elbow....ver very unpleasant....the cooks are great that's why I gave 1 star...ownership and management shame on you....if you plan to bring a big party, don't come....you will be disappointed..... read more

We made Opentable reservations for 9:45 for the hibachi grill. We drove 45 minutes with a 5 year old and when we arrived, we were turned down at the door. The manager came out and said the grill was closed and looked at us like we were idiots. Why have available times on opentable if you are not going let customers dine in? Terrible service. This is a terrible restaurant rules. We are having a family of 6 for a birthday party and they just sat 2 random people at our table. Saying that they can not do anything else for us. It's just a terrible terrible way of service. This should be an embarrassment to this restaurant to not be able to make some special family dinner exceptions. Lady was rood, ordered a lunch duet for carry out. And it's unfortunate that the food quality is worse just because you are not eating there. They literally cook the food different. Always enjoy my food at Benihana's. Today it was very enjoyable as well. Went for my moms birthday, and even though we ordered a lot, and tipped well. The waiter seemed to want us gone as soon as possible. We all ordered the 6 meal courses and didn't really as for much else other then waters to go along with our drinks and our last course (which was not offered to us and we had to ask after we received the check). Once he brought it in Togo container it took them an additional 15 minutes to bring back the card. This is my first time at the particular location and even though I enjoy Benihana's and it's the closet to my parents home I wouldn't come back. When waiters treat you like they don't want you there. That makes you not want to come back. Also we were charged for rice which was included in our meal. But being the non confrontational people my parents are we didn't say anything. read more

I have not been to Benniha in more than twenty years. Our experience was terrible. It wasn't our waiter, nor the man who cooked the food. The food itself had no taste at all. Once it was plated for example the zucchini, onions, shrimp came first. I myself like to eat these items with my entree. But by the time the entrée is served, the shrimp and veggies were stone cold. The fried rice had no taste whatsoever. The worst part of the entire experience was the total disregard for safety. 4 couples squeezed together around the grill in this time of Covid 19 and the varient is unconscionable. The Manager and I quote said "well no one told us not too" We dine out at many different eating establishments. Nearly all of them practice safe social distancing. Take your chances with the strangers you are sitting with and for what we paid for dinner and the $22 bucks for two Suporo's it was a complete waste of money. read more

Decided to try dining in the area without the show of the hibachi--lesson learned a mistake. Ordered the 6-course meal--started out good quick delivery of drinks, salad and soup. Then we waited a bit for the main course. Finally came to the table and was not hot at all. I knew it would ruin my medium rare filet but took a chance to ask if they could do better--Mistake. They nuked it big time--made the shrimp rubbery and the steak over cooked. The waitress was very apologetic but I expected more after spending over $100 for meal. read more

I've always loved Benihana and this location is very nice. In case you've never been, Benihana is a Japanese hibachi chain as well as sushi bar. I feel like they've greatly improved the venting technology lately, as you don't leave quite as smelly as you used to! This location has a large sushi bar area in addition to the typical hibachi dining room. We've been here several times and I would say the chefs are hit or miss in terms of their style/performance but it's always fun no matter what. I usually go for the teriyaki steak entree with fried rice. Definitely go hungry as most dinners come with soup, salad, veggies, shrimp appetizer and rice, and sometimes also ice cream for dessert. Fried rice is an upgrade but it's well worth it. Kids' meals are pricey but great sized portions if you have good eaters or plenty to share between two lighter eaters. My younger son gets by with just an order of fried rice since he doesn't love meat anyway. The kids get a coloring sheet that turns into a chef's hat, which my boys thought was very fun. This is a great place for birthdays as they make a big deal out of it with singing, ice cream and pictures to take home. read more
