    Margarita
    Laura M.

We were celebrating a birthday and went to a little gift shop next door for a bag and gentlemen outside offered us happy hour after it ended. It was beautiful outside and we sat outside and enjoyed margaritas that were very good. Then we decided to get a couple appetizers. The pizza and the anti-pasto were absolutely to die for as well as the bread with the balsamic oil that is brought out. The calamari was good but would've been better if they were a little thinner. The waiter was great and had a great time. Love to see smaller places like this doing well.

Cannelloni Stuffed with Beef & Pork. Pasta so thin and filling delicious.. sauce was pink vodka type and really good as well

Great old school Italian joint. Fettuccine is so good and Chicken parm was crisp and cheesy with delicious red sauce. Chicken Valdestano was moist with a cheesy prosciutto and delectable sauce.

Sal at the front was the reason we came in and glad we did. We loved the chicken parm it was thin with a good breading and great sauce. The mozzarella was fresh. Service was great. So nice outside.

    Dull. $14.00 per glass.

The food was painfully dull, but service was actually warm and friendly. Our waiter was extremely friendly and engaging. There a lot of servers and cooks moving thru a very compacted space within an extremely small restaurant. It was way too busy for the dinner atmosphere I wanted in Little Italy. This place is tight. The place is family seating, however it is tight. The aisle are narrow and harrowing to maneuver, seriously. We were seated at a table with total strangers, which was negotiable until the party they were awaiting arrived. The food was dull, my chicken parmigiana arrived burnt, dry, and overcooked. Oh and overpriced, I was shocked that paid $32.00 for that parched parmigiana chicken.

Great family friendly service! The portions are big and it's the whole little Italy vibe! I really enjoyed the whole experience. This is the OG spot.

I live in NYC and I intentionally stay away from eating on this street but I had friends visiting and this place had 4 stars so I gave it a shot. Nomz: We were brought out bread a bit after we sat down that was wasn't warm and was pretty dry (first red flag). We started with the rice balls (second red flag: they were not labeled as Arancini anywhere) and the fried mozzarella. We ate the rice balls because we were starving but they lacked any flavor and were mostly just rice. The mozzarella we didn't have much of because it was not good. I had a specialty pasta, Amatriciana that came out cold and was a big disappointment in taste. Service: This is a 3 star review because the waiter was super nice to us. Or else it would be a 2 star review. Ambiance: We sat inside and I was hoping for a classic cute old school vibe for my friends but we got a very crammed just old inside. Nope or Dope: Nope, probably my own fault for getting Italian on the most touristy street in little Italy but it really did let me down hard, was embarrassed about picking this place for visitors.

I visited this restaurant with some friends while we explored Little Italy. It's a cute restaurant with charming decor. It has a vintage vibe that feels authentic. The staff was accommodating and polite. The food was okay. I ordered the baked ziti. It was slightly bland, but there was a fair amount of cheese which was nice. Overall it was a good experience.

This place is delicious. I came with my friend last month and we both got the Chicken Alfredo. The sauce and chicken were full of flavor. We also had Caesar salad + an espresso martini for me. They were really nice service-wise, and they have an outdoor seating option as well. It wasn't that busy the Saturday night we went but definitely worth the trip.

Fantastic service and amazing fresh Italian food. There are a lot of other places near this restaurant that might be fancier but I guarantee Benito One food is the top for authenticity and freshness!

Already took a bite, but so good.

Excellent food, and excellent service. I had the chicken parm, and it was honestly the best I've ever had. Tasty sauce/gravy, scrumptious chicken cutlet, and the cheese was incredible. 5 stars.

Horrible Italian bread, tough and tasted stale. Very disappointing as this is the start of your meal.
    Christin N.

Unfortunately This place had great old authentic vibes but food was just a mediocre. The bread was actually one of the worst Italian breads I ever had as it tasted and felt stale. The chicken cutlet tasted like old oil. But.... The stuffed shells were DELICIOUS! Loved the red sauce! Service was also very good and prompt!

    Loved our window view!

Our son's request for his 18th birthday was dinner in Little Italy and Benito One delivered! We were given a great seat by the open window, friendly service and everything we had we enjoyed. The birthday guy said it was the best chicken cutlet he's ever had. At the end of our meal they came with a complimentary dessert and sang...made his day. Would highly recommend; casual and comfortable atmosphere and great food.

    Linguine with Eggplant Parmigiana

Stopped here for lunch during San Gennaro Festival. I ordered the eggplant with linguine. Portion was spot on and my meal was hot and delicious. I really enjoyed the pasta sauce they make. Bread and butter came with the meal. Also ordered a glass of wine with my meal which was a perfect sized glass. Just make sure you look at your bill because they automatically added a tip; so you are not double tipping. We sat near a window which was a nice view of the festival.

Baba Al Rum was also tasty, as was the Orecchiette. Rigatoni was salty, but well-flavored. I visited a popular Italian restaurant from the Union Square Hospitality group with a group of five others. The restaurant is quite large, and although it was somewhat noisy, the tables were spaced apart enough that it was easy to hear everyone. We had an early dinner at 5:45 PM, which took quite a while, but I didn't mind. To drink, I went with the Bitter Giuseppe for $19, with Cynar 45.3, Punt e Mes, lemon, and sea salt. I'm a fan of most Negronis, and this was a particularly bitter version. The bit of lemon and sea salt added a unique but enjoyable flavor at the end, though in retrospect, the salt probably wasn't super necessary. Two of us split, and eventually, a few of us ordered their signature appetizer, the $18 Cast Iron Focaccia, with tomato conserva, a mixture of crushed tomatoes, olive oil, and Calabrian chili. The bread was fresh and warm, albeit a tad oily and salty, but it paired wonderfully with the conserva. As someone who doesn't like it when bread is extra, this was delicious and worth it. Another person ordered the $18 Insalata Verde. It was very large, but fairly basic, with a vinaigrette that had a citrusy and mustardy flavor. There was also the Caramelized Onion Torta for $27, which was very large, as expected for the price point. It had a creamy and tangy flavor from the Pecorino Toscano with some sweetness from the onion. It was delicious, but very heavy, and I would recommend that around three or four people split it alongside the focaccia. Finally, there was also the $15 Pizza Bianca, which was easily the smallest of all the plates, but they still enjoyed it. My main dish was the Orecchiette for $26, with ramps, pistachio, and pecorino. Like most of their dishes, the portion size was quite large, with plenty of pasta, which was perfectly cooked. The ramps added a touch of sweetness, although I would have liked a few more nuts. Additionally, there was almost too much pecorino, which made the dish slightly salty, but it was still enjoyable. As a side, I got the $19 Grilled Asparagus with dates, vermouth, and blue cheese, which came with many pieces of lightly charred asparagus. While there was plenty of funky blue cheese, I would have preferred more dates. Two of the others got the Rigatoni Alla Gricia for $30. The portion was large, and I tried a bit while they tried mine. The noodles were again cooked perfectly, and while there was a lot of guanciale, this was easily the saltiest of all the dishes. For dessert, I chose their Baba AU Rum for $18, which was uniquely mixed with chocolate and orange. The presentation was a bit off, as it looked like a certain emoji, but the flavor made up for it. The subtle hint of rum paired with the bitter-sweet chocolate and orange. The dark chocolate-covered orange slice on top was a nice touch as well. Someone else got a tart, and one other person got the Gelati, which resulted in one of the only faults during service. She heard it was two scoops, and ordered espresso stracciatella and hazelnut, but was given two separate orders for $12 each. The gelato was good, but unlike most things, definitely not worth it for the price. I liked the appetizers much more, but I found the food good overall. Tasty dessert, and the portions make up at least a bit for the relatively higher prices.

We started with the housemade focaccia and Wagyu carpaccio--both were outstanding, with the perfect balance of crispy, flavorful, and fresh elements. We finished with the famous olive oil cake, which we loved for its subtly sweet, moist and tender bite. Served with lightly whipped cream and raisins, the combination was surprisingly delicious. We were also touched by the complimentary anniversary scoop of ice cream. The interior seating is a bit snug, but the decor is beautiful--elegant yet homey. The service was good as well. Overall, we highly recommend L'Artusi for a special night out!

L'Artusi has been on my radar for a while, ever since I heard it was a hot spot and saw reviews of…read moreit being one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.

The first thing I noticed was there were 7 people in my party and 4 arrived early and did not have to wait for my arrival to be seated. Second the waiter who took our order was polite and on point with specials and knowledge of the menu. He (just never caught his name) suggested the Rigatoni which chicken and sausage. I am not really a pasta eater but baby that dish could change that; it was DELICIOUS. I even liked the anchovy dressing on my Caesar Salad and I dislike anchovies.
