The ambiance is Iike any other steakhouse which is good, most unique was their tall windows which added to the vibe. First impression was this was one of the emptiest steakhouses I've ever dined at even though it was dinner time on a weekday. Regardless, was excited for porterhouse for two which I always get. Cooked medium, the steak was very soft inside which was a good surprise but the more I had, the more it felt off compared to other steaks. The crispy on the outside also were quite charred and charcoal tasting on some pieces, others were fine though. The truffle mushrooms were amazing in flavor but near the end, it felt more salty than anything else. Overall not the quality I would've expected compared to other steakhouses considering the price. Main thing was also that the service here was also not the most welcoming, from the over staffed onlooking servers, to demanding we keep the cold water glasses even though we clarified we did not want water (leading to overly crowded table), and pressing us to get a drink/appetizer/side as if to judge us for only getting the steak, it wasn't the most welcoming. The kicker came at the end when we wanted more complimentary bread and they said that would result in an extra charge. We were also interested in dessert and when asked for dessert menu, they said they had none and just rambled it to us really quick. When we reached online, we saw online reviews mention free dessert crème brûlée for check in and surprised , we inquired about it. At first, the server was like "yes I already said we have crème brûlée" to which we had to clarify that we know you do, we were wondering if the offer still applied. The server seemed very defensive and bothered by such an inquiry and challenged us to show evidence of such a deal. We really didn't care and simply wanted to clarify. Benjamin Prime is a great option for restaurant week - you get an appetizer, entree, side and dessert for $60! We came as a group of 4 so we were able to try out many options. For the appetizers, the grilled calamari and burrata are great options! The grilled calamari is smoky and cooked perfectly. The burrata is creamy and goes well with the free bread at the table. For the entrees, we all got the New York sirloin medium rare and it was delicious! Their sauce was so addicting and paired perfectly with the steak. For sides, the Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes were the best! I wasn't too fond of the spinach as it was too pureed for me. For desserts, the chocolate mousse cake was rich and decadent. The food at Benjamin's Prime was just as good as around the corner at Benjamin's. My girlfriend enjoyed the ambiance more at Prime. Both steakhouses offer impeccable service. The cocktails are strong and flavorful. The quality of the meat is incredible - but the show stopper is clearly the creamless creamed spinach. This is my favorite side at any steakhouse that I have ever been to. I've had a few different cuts of meat and they have all been cooked to my preferred temperature. The menu at Prime is also a little bit more foregiving than a traditional steakhouse if you have picky eaters in your party. None of this will come cheap of course but highly encourage if you are in the neighborhood for a steak to put this in your rotation. You may find it towards the top of your list (it's on mine!). read more

The porterhouse steak was tender and flavorful, and worth the price. I have had steak at over a dozen NY restaurants and this steak was among the top 3. Benjamin is by far the most delicious steak option in the Big Apple. This was my first time here, and they also had restaurant week at the same time, so we all decided to go there. I got the filet which was a large size. There were four different sides and since we had four different people we just ordered each one amongst ourselves. The service and food were amazing! The food was fresh and came out fast. This is my second worst experience at a high-end steakhouse. The first being Uncle Jack's. The service was okay. It wasn't that busy either. The servers weren't really attentive. Everything was overcooked and charred. We requested the porterhouse to be medium. It was so charred, but there were also medium rare pieces. Staff didn't even basting the meat when they served it. Personally I thought I can just choose what I like we when I made the reservation as it gave me the option to choose between valentine set or regular and I chose regular. Perfect steak experience here!! This is a branch of the famous Benjamin Steak House but it looks newer with more modern and more spacious. It feels more pleasant in my opinion. Their Porterhouse Steak was famous and we came for it. HUGE portion and so nicely done! The vegetables were cooked just right, too. Though we were quite full, we ordered the chocolate cake on the dessert menu and, guess what, we finished it - because it was so good!! Overall a classic steak house experience with fine food and great service! Highly recommend this to tourists who want a typical NY style meal and to anyone who just enjoys fine dining. read more

We visited here on a Friday night and took advantage of the restaurant week menu which was a great deal ($60 for 3 courses). We had an early table at 6pm but within half an hour the restaurant really started to fill up. We went with the calamari and bacon starters. The calamari was not what I was expecting (I was expecting deep fried but I should have read the menu properly) but was tasty nonetheless. The bacon was a little fatty for me but I think that is just the nature of the dish. We both went for steaks for our main course and these were cooked nicely, although nothing standout or amazing. For sides we had the Brussels and the mashed potatoes, these were both really good and would highly recommend. Finally, I had the mousse cake for dessert and my other half had the carrot cake. Both of these were delicious, although we were too full to finish. All in all I would say this is a solid steakhouse. Would I return? Probably not as there are so many steakhouses in NYC, but I also wouldn't advise anyone against going. read more

Easily the best steak I've had in the USA. I ordered the NY sirloin steak done rare. Dry aged. Prime. They did the meat properly. Perfectly cooked on the outside with Maillard reaction depth and slightly singed crunch. The interior was perfectly bloody with just enough heat to render the meat soft and juicy. Even though the serving size was modest , the flavor explosion from the taste of the meat and drippings caused an umami explosion in my mouth and was more than filling. I didn't feel any need to add any condiments, the meat itself with the touch of salt and pepper was enough flavor. I was happy with the sides provided although they were on the salty side. The decor was noisy and busy. If you have trouble hearing or seeing, it might be tough. Bring your flashlight, readers, and buff up on your sign language. Oh. I'm not a wine drinker but the house wine was perfectly drinkable. Better to ask someone with more of a wine tongue. read more

Exceptional crab cake. Exceptional porterhouse for two. Mashed potatoes were both outstanding and mercifully small on portion. Asparagus was terrific. Service was true five star. Ambiance is beautiful but the tables are tightly packed. Bar seating is minimal. The constant stream of people in and out does not transport you to a place of calm, after slogging through the holiday shopping bustle packing all of the sidewalks to the restaurant. Found parking directly in front of the restaurant on a weekday night. The place does not look very big on the outside but it is pretty spacious on the inside. We got a private room on the second floor. I ordered the lobster bisque, filet mignon medium rare with sides of broccoli, creamy spinach, and roasted potatoes. The lobster bisque was delicious - one of the best I've ever had and quite small. The filet mignon was beautifully flavored and cooked. All the sides were good too. For dessert, we had a cake assortment and I ordered a chamomile tea. The cake assortment included a key lime pie, carrot cake, berry cheesecake, and a chocolate mousse cake. All the cakes were very delicious as well. The service was great. As for the restrooms, I was surprised there were several on the second floor. There's one unisex room with several stalls and sinks. Saw something on Instagram saying this was a good place for restaurant week. So we booked a reservation for the fan to come check it out. It's been a while since we'd been to a proper steakhouse so we were excited to try it. Our normal go to is Lugers and Benjamin immediately drew immediate comparisons. First, their logo makes you think they come from a common heritage. But the similarities end there. Whereas Lugers feels like some Bavarian cottage, Benjamin's dark and sleek city vibe hits you as soon as you walk in. Lugers waiters are known for their almost gruff mannerisms, the waiters at Benjamin are more traditionally high touch service oriented. Note that we had to ask for the restaurant week menu after the initial confusion of receiving their big regular menu book. This is probably why it was on insta - for $60pp you get 4 courses. The cut that's included is their sirloin with a $10 upcharge for filet and $20 upcharge for bone in ribeye. We tried them all. First, you get the delicious warm bread with truffle butter. For apps, we ordered Brussels sprouts - very good, lobster bisque - tasty with good lobster bits, octopus - good but not particularly memorable, bacon - which basically speaks for itself. Sirloin - presented on a sizzling platter and served to your plate, with a basting of the hot beef juices. The filet and ribeye were just served on a platter. Sirloin was solid - just a good portion of a beefy steak. The filet was super tender as expected but its usual neutral ish (for steak) taste. The ribeye, however, was worth the upcharge. It definitely had the best flavor due to its marbling. And it felt like you got a ton of meat. For sides we got fries (the nice long steak fries), mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, which were all just ok. For dessert, we tried the cheesecake and chocolate pie - which were good but probably could have just been bought from somewhere. We got a bottle of house red wine, which for some reason went straight to all our heads. All in all, a pretty solid experience for restaurant week. Definitely would consider returning for the ribeye, not going to lie. read more

My friend and I were "transferred" to this place because our original reservation with sea fire grill got canceled due to some emergencies in the restaurant. The restaurant has an open layout and a welcoming ambiance. We ordered the ribeye steak, sea bass, and seafood platter -- all of them were delicious, especially paired with the red wine. At the end of the meal, we were offered a cheesecake as an apology for the reservation change, which was a really thoughtful gesture. Rating: 3.5 stars I've been to this restaurant a couple times. For my most recent visit, I came here with a group of three for dinner on a Sunday night around 6 PM. When I arrived, my group was not all present yet but they still gave us an option of sitting down at the table anyways. This is likely due to the fact that the restaurant was fairly empty at this time and still had a lot of available tables. They started off by giving us some rolls which were nice. The butter it came with was very flavorful and went well with the rolls. I just wish the rolls were warm when they were served. Afterwards, we shared a FILET MINON TARTARE. The quality of the meat was very nice. The flavor was ok, it was way too heavy on the truffle though. The toasted bread it came with really went well with the tartare as well, We also got a side of JUMBO LUMP CRABCAKE. The flavor of the crabcake was very well done, there was a lot of sauce in the bottom though which didn't really seem necessary. Additionally, I really wish they gave more than one medium sized crab cake for over 20 dollars. We got a PORTERHOUSE STEAK FOR THREE to share and it was huge. We ended up having so much left after our meal. The flavor was pretty good but it was a bit more undercooked than I would have liked it. We got some MASHED POTATOES and BRUSSEL SPROUTS on the side which were average but a nice accompaniment. The brussel sprouts were a bit too burnt for my taste though. For dessert we shared the MIXED BERRIES and MOLTEN CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE. The berries were very fresh and came with a lot of whipped cream so it was a great finish for the meal. The lava cake was also very yummy and chocolatey and I also enjoyed it a lot. Service throughout the meal was very efficient and quick. Food came out at a reasonable pace. All in all, a nice steakhouse but unfortunately nothing too special compared to the many other options in the city. read more
