I knew I was coming to New York and so did my TikTok algorithm. TikTok pushed a video to my FYP about the 1000 layer duck fat potato's at Strip House! I have been wanting to try thousand layer potatoes ever since I saw a video about them like four years ago but I was too lazy to fix them lol I was so excited to find a restaurant that had them in New York. The funny thing about the strip house is that "Strip" isn't referring to the steaks! We walked in at 4 PM on a Sunday evening with our reservation and were sat down immediately. We were one of only two tables that were sat the entire time we had dinner. Don't give me wrong. I'm not complaining because we stayed in the heart of Times Square and it's just so busy all the time. It was nice to be able to walk into a place and it was quiet and the mood is set and there were candles on the table. it was really lovely and then I noticed the decor! Boobies boobies and more boobies. There were hundreds of pictures on the wall of what looked like strippers from the flapper era? I have to admit me and my husband had a giggle like a 12-year-old boy because we weren't expecting that but they are small pictures and you really have to look at them to see...things. Customer service is excellent and fast. They brought our drinks out and the basket of bread that included a pretzel breadstick, a sesame bun, and a seeded roll. The butter was the icing on the cake for me. It came out and what looked like a butter, bell, and it was smooth, creamy and delicious. I ordered the black diamond chicken with fries and added the thousand layer duck fat potatoes and Hubby got the dry aged, New York strip with a blue cheese, topper and asparagus. The New York trip was amazing! It was cooked to perfection, juicy, and delicious! My chicken was just okay. I expected it to be a delicious half of a chicken that was really juicy and flavorful. It was flavorful, but the flavor was just kind of off to me which it could be my taste buds in their defense. I also didn't like the way the chicken was cut up into what looked like strips. The duck fries were delicious and I dipped them in a couple different dips that we had. The thousand layer potatoes were cooked amazingly! They were hot and crispy and soft on the inside. If you cannot get a reservation at 4 Charles, Gallaghers, or another steakhouse, or if you want something quiet I would highly recommend Strip House. read more

Cocktails were strong but overly sweet; I would recommend sticking to wine, beer, or liquor. The pretzel bread was fresh and enjoyable, though the other bread was overly hard. The bacon and crab cake appetizers were flavorful but heavily seasoned. Our strip steak, ordered medium rare, arrived rare with a chewy fat cap, overly salty crust, and tough connective tissue. The au poivre sauce was initially forgotten and, when delivered, was thin and underwhelming. The layered potatoes were decent but seemed reheated and fell short of similar dishes elsewhere. The asparagus, however, was excellent. The lobster tail was also initially forgotten but ultimately cooked perfectly nd served with rich, hot butter; a complimentary beer was provided in response, which was appreciated. For dessert, the bananas foster was disappointing. The gelato had a gritty texture and an overly bitter flavor, possibly from improperly cooked-off alcohol. Had been to Strip House Downtown before but first time at the Midtown location and had a nice experience. Went during Restaurant Week and had a very good meal from that menu. The Tuna Tartare and the Salad Lyonnaise for appetizers to start were solid but what stood out the most was the Strip Steak entree. Perfectly cooked to the medium rare that we had requested and well seasoned and tender. The Chocolate Cake for dessert was a wonderful finish to the meal. I came here recently for a birthday and we had a great time! We got a three large steaks to share as well as some sides. Everything was delicious. Out of the three sides that we got (broccolini, brussel sprouts, and creamed spinach), the creamed spinach was a big hit. The lobster mac and cheese was also very cheesy and satisfying. There was definitely a crust on the outside that was packed with a lot of stuff including pepper and I think I tasted some truffle (before I even ate the spinach)? It was a good texture and pretty tender too but I felt like the flavor was a bit subdued. There was a decent fat cap at one end that I had to work to avoid. The truffle creamed spinach was really good. It was pretty balanced until I came across one randomly HUGE slice of truffle, but overall it was still good. My favorite part was the mashed potatoes. Perfectly creamy and smooth and had an almost cheesy taste to it that was fantastic!!! Best part of the meal. I shouldn't have gotten dessert because I was so full, but I got the key lime pie anyway hoping that it would be a refreshing palate cleanser. My favorite part was how absolutely LOADED with meringue it was! I definitely ate more meringue than pie which was fine with me. The pie itself lacked that tangy bite to it, it was creamy but didn't have enough of that refreshing citrusy flavor I was looking for. I had reserved through google for a party of 3, 8:30pm on a Friday. We arrived exactly on time and were told that they would call us when the table was ready. We stood at the entrance (to be fair, they asked if we wanted to wait at the bar but we still would have had to stand) for 45 minutes, even with a reservation, until we were seated. This alone soured our experience even before we started eating. We had a porterhouse for 2 and 4 sides. The complimentary bread and butter are good and the bread comes out warm. I did find the pretzel bread a bit too salty but it was not a big issue. They refill the bread at no cost if you ask, which was very well appreciated. The food was good but nothing was excellent in my opinion. The steak needed more salt, and I rarely say this about food in New York since most things taste pretty salty to me. The au poivre sauce we ordered ($8) helped, but the amount of sauce they give you is not that generous. The Mac and cheese side was quite large but it was also underseasoned in my opinion. The meat itself was fine, it was not as tender as I would have liked but was still quite good. The ambiance was good, it is quite loud due to all the talking, but it wasn't an issue. Damn I mf love this place. Old New York is what comes to mind. Quintessential New York. I felt like I should have had my 3 piece suit on while smoking a cigar, maybe in a fedora too. I was looking around for the ghost of Frank Sinatra. Dim red lighting, old pictures cover the walls, well dressed servers, etc. The energy in here is amazing, and the service was top tier. They had me feeling important in here. Came here for my birthday dinner with my parents, so I was going CRAZY. We got the caesar salad, thick cut bacon, wedge salad, porterhouse for 2, sides of mac n cheese and fries, and a butter cake to finish the job. The porterhouse was everything I could ever want in a steak. A tender, buttery taste with a slight char on the outside and a pink center. Damn I'm getting hungry typing this at 8:28am. If you don't think porterhouse is the best cut of steak you can go and swallow a cactus. My death row meal would be a porterhouse for 2 and some shoestring fries. No better way to go out. The restaurant had nice aesthetics and was dimly lit for an intimate experience. I ordered a cocktail; the passionfruit margarita. It was very good. I opted not to get any bread because I didn't want anything to ruin what was to come. Knowing me, I would have gotten full off the bread. For my appetizer, I ordered the roasted bacon. For my entrée, I ordered the dry aged New York strip medium and the truffle creamed spinach. I was undecided between the goose fat potatoes and strip house potatoes. At the waitress recommendation, went with the latter. For dessert, of course I went with the signature 24-layer chocolate cake. I was so full and very satisfied, I had it boxed up to go. I haven't eaten any yet, but what's not to like about chocolate cake. The waitress planned to present the cake with a candle but I was just too full. She was sweet enough to placed the candle in the to-go bag. Bacon: I enjoyed it, but honestly, it reminded me of the steak bacon from the Original Pancake House, but with sauce. New York Strip: Loved it. She let me know in advance that there was a peppercorn crust. Again, loved it. Amazing experience! Came here to celebrate a birthday and had such a great time. The atmosphere was very intimate and welcoming. The staff was incredible -- the GM, Sophia, came over to introduce herself, which was such a nice touch. My girl's night the other Friday was so perfect that I had to come back last night for an early Valentines Day dinner and treat my husband. Overall we had an amazing experience here and delicious meal Started with some wine, they had an extensive selection which was nice because we had some people with varying tastes We ordered wedge salads which were excellent and higher quality than many other steak houses I've been to. It was my favorite part of the meal. We all got proteins and split sides for our main dishes. We tried almost one of everything. The mac and cheese was a must! And so were the mushrooms. Sometimes fish can be a miss at a steak place but these were top notch with such great flavor- if you had to get one the salmon was our favorite. Steaks were all cooked to perfection with LOTS of peppercorn on the outside. A few people at my take didn't like that but I loved it! Personal preference We did wait around two hours for our main dishes to come out. We were a big party on a Saturday so we understood. Some people had to run out because they made plans three hours after our reservation time and thought we would be done by then. We also didn't get some sides we ordered until we were already done with our meal so we had to send them back which was disappointing. They start you off with these warm, soft pretzel rolls with the softest butter that melts in your mouth. Hard to resist not ordering more. I ordered the filet mignon au poivre and they nailed it. I love the charred salt and pepper seasoning on top and combined with the sauce, it was outstanding. Do NOT skip out on the sides. There are sooo many to choose from and they're all so delicious. Number one is the whipped potato puree, which is so perfectly buttery. Also get the Mac and cheese and the black truffle creamed spinach. We were celebrating my childhood friends 42nd birthday and the minute we walked in we felt the warm greeting of Chakoia and also the GM Sophia. The GM Sophia kept coming into the room checking in on us making sure everything was running smoothly which I thought was a very nice touch and she also was running food and serving drinks! We were then asked to get together for a photo by Chakoia (hostess) not knowing exactly what for. After the dinner she came back with the f picture framed for each guest with a birthday message to the guest of honor signed by the waitress, GM and chef! What an amazing surprise and attention to detail that completely caught us off guard. For starters, the server highly recommended the truffle spinach and crab cake, so we went along with her recommendation. I'm a truffle lover myself and the truffle taste just melted into your mouth. Never came to ask how our meal was. She didn't even ask us when she brought the check. I told her it was tough and overcooked a little and the response was that it looks pink to her (it was. But it was still tough and I've had way better steaks even at longhorn steakhouse). Nobody ever even refilled our waters. This is not a cheap restaurant. This is not pocket change for everyone. For some people, it's a special night out. I'll say the Caesar salad was great (I got it without the egg or anchovies therefore it was a little skimpy). Even the baked potato was nothing special. I had the pleasure of revisiting strip house steakhouse to celebrate my mom's 75th birthday in October 29th. We had an amazing time with my mom's, uncle and brother. Alyssa our server fantabulous, curtious, informative and smile that will light up any room. The steaks cooked and seasoned to perfection, and add the garlic to each bite puts the steak over the top for me. Mac & cheese is the best that I had at a restaurant seasoned, cheesy, with a little crunch to it. The whipped potatoes light with the right amount of butter and salt. I really don't understand how this place has 4.7 star reviews.. the service was mediocre (it doesn't matter if there's a 'holiday rush'), I'm from Vegas (top tier restaurants as we're know for hospitality industry) this is honestly a let down... My steak was too over cooked on the top (too charred). They sat us next to a table of kids (I don't understand why restaurants don't pay attention to this detail). To me this restaurant is a tourist trap, avoid it because it's not worth the $$$$. The ambiance felt so commercial. What a let down. read more

Here's the deal: it was just ok. It's a typical NYC Steak house. It had a classy atmosphere. But the food was not special. Porterhouse for 2 didn't have a lot of flavor and needed side sauces to assist. The waiter kept trying to upsell items that we didn't want. I've had better thick cut bacon elsewhere. The oysters were good, but again... not something I can get anywhere else . Dessert layers cake looks pretty good. Not a stand out steakhouse for the $$$$ read more

We dined at strip house on our 1st valentines day out in a long time. Because of the crowds and bad service we experienced going out on valentines day prevented us from celebrating this holiday. We had an EXCELLENT valentine dinner at strip house, 1 there was no set menu and you could order as you please. 2 the food was delicious and came out hot! 3. Our server was fantastic, friendly and attentive even during the busiest time. This was a great choice the manager and staff here are doing a wonderful job. We will be back again. read more
