It had been several years since we have eaten at or ordered food from Benley, but we always remembered it as one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in our area. We ordered takeout of some of our favorite dishes and were disappointed. The food quality and recipes were not the same as we remembered. We presumed that Benley must have gone through some ownership or management changes causing the recipes to be changed. The chicken pho we ordered was beef pho when we dug in at home. The staff member's English skills were poor and either did not understand the telephone order, or could not be understood by me when they repeated the order. We love this neighborhood place. So happy that they survived Covid shutdowns. We order take out a few times a month. Tried and true favorites are the Taste of Pho and Taste of vermicelli. It's a smaller portion of each and perfect when you can't eat the full size alone and leftovers aren't as good the next day. Shrimp and pork spring rolls are always fresh and yummy. Fried egg rolls with lettuce to wrap. Shrimp and lotus salad is my go to. The bahn mi sandwiches for lunch if they aren't sold out are good too. I was coming here regularly only for their yummy Thai iced tea until I finally tried their food and I'm impressed! No wonder this place is so popular with the local community. My family and I loved their fried rice with beef (big portion), the shrimp and pork spring rolls and their beef banh mi sandwiches. We've also had their special almond cookies. The lady (owner?) who takes the orders & runs the cash register is always super welcoming and efficient. The two elderly gentlemen cooks consistently season and the food to perfection. read more

A small hidden gem truly, I didn't even knew this place existed until my friend took me here for lunch. We ordered Panko covered shrimps, rare steak pho, green beans and veggie egg rolls.. everything was just phenomenal in taste, looks.. I was a bit too hungry I forgot to take pictures but definitely going back to get some more and then will take pictures. If you haven't tried this place you all definitely should. I found a new favorite for banh xeo. I've gone here my last two trips to the area, because they're that good. The difference is the marinated veggies along with the pork belly. The appetizers are good too, but I should really try other menu items, but where I come from, Vietnamese food is rare much less banh xeo! We came here in the mood for some pho because none of our usual places were open. We placed our order over the phone for take out and it was ready promptly. They had vegan options so we opted for the vegan pho. The broth was nothing special and tasted just like plain veggie broth from a box and not like a typical pho broth. Overall, I found it to be plain and it didn't really satisfy my craving for some pho. I wasn't too impressed with the food and didn't find it worth the price. First time coming here per a friend's recommendation and was very pleased! It is a small restaurant, but we got there at the right time and snagged a table. They do pickup orders as well, which we noticed many people do. Definitely seems like the local go to spot as the server knew many of the customers. Our server was amazing and so fast! She was covering all the tables and taking phone orders and checking out pickup orders. I don't know how she did it but she was on top of it. She promptly took our order and our food came very quickly. I got the shrimp pho and then we got the fried green beans to share. I personally don't like green beans but these were so good! Their servings are big. I got the small pho and couldn't finish it. Definitely will be going again. Wish I remembered our servers name... she had long dirty blonde hair and was so sweet! read more

Great lunch specials! I've been craving this place all week. I don't live nearby anymore so I really planned my day around having lunch here! The tempura green beans are amazing! The lunch specials have so many different options and are so good. I usually get the shrimp pho and the sandwich. I enjoy the tofu, lemongrass pork or chicken. Today I got the half order of green beans, lemongrass pork banh mi with the shrimp vermicelli noodles and salad. I add Extra veggies, cilantro, and jalapeno to the sandwich. Squeeze lime over EVERYTHING... SO FRESH! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. We brought a table and chairs to stay out in the parking lot. There is plenty of shade to enjoy outdoor dining. Watch for SCAM and FRAUD. My family and I have been going here for years. No more. On a recent bill, they unilaterally increased the total amount and added extra tip for their benefit. I always keep my receipts and copy the amount I pay so no error here. Just plain fraud. Be aware. Keep your receipts and watch your credit card charges with this place. read more

This place is amazing: they have couple of vegan/vegetarian menu, with the addition of fake meat (for extra proteins). I only ordered soft tofu and tomato confit, result is amazing taste of sweet flavor of tomato that pairs well with the tofu. I appreciate Briana for letting me know which dish is vegan/vegetarian, since I don't eat meat. Will come back here next time to try other dish. read more

Grew up eating home-cooked Viet food, so I've got high standards. It makes me a tough critic for this cuisine (some places really mess it up). However, I had to give a shout out to Benley for its variety and execution of Viet food! There are actually Vietnamese cooks in the kitchen, so you can sense it's legit. There are both fusion and authentic options on the menu. Here's a rundown of the dishes we ordered: Viet iced coffee & thai tea: Refreshing and wakes you up! Spicy green beans: BOMB. Super crispy batter with a hint of health in the core lol. Was sweet rather than spicy, but I didn't mind Lemongrass charred spring rolls: Great flavoring of the meat, fresh veggies, and peanut sauce/fish sauce (nuoc mam). I prefer the latter since it's a classic Viet dipping sauce Pan seared salmon: Seasoned well with a cilantro aioli sauce on the side Filet & potatoes: Similar to the Viet dish "bo luc lac" but with potatoes and veggies Chicken curry: Coconut base and very flavorful. Loved dipping my bread Banh xeo: My favorite! It's pretty much a Viet pancake with meat, shrimp, and bean sprouts that you wrap with veggies. Cassava cake: MUST TRY!! One order comes with 3 slices too! It's not your typical cake texture, so it's hard to describe. Just get it, trust me. They also have wine and beer, so could be a nice dinner date choice! I decided to give this place a try because the reviews looked pretty good. I probably would've never found this place if I wasn't dropping off used clothes at Goodwill. It's located in a pretty dead shopping center which has Dollar Tree and abandoned TJ Maxx. I came on a weekday afternoon and the place was pretty packed so I figured it would be pretty good. Well, it was just ok. I guess I should've expected this given I was about the only Asian person eating here. The owners are Vietnamese but the pho tasted rather westernized. The noodles were pretty good but the broth didn't have much flavor. It was very clear with very little oil. It just didn't have that rich aroma I'm used to at other Vietnamese restaurants. I only tried one item so this may not be a fair review, but pho is a pretty standard item at Vietnamese restaurants so I'm not sure what else I need to try here. The price was close to $10, which is kind of high for pho, so I'm not too motivated to return here. read more

Total hidden gem. I yelped this place for some quick dinner before heading back to work. It was a bit hard to find because it's hidden in a corner of a shopping mall. The restaurant is pretty small and the place was packed on Friday night. Mostly Western customers. They offered me a seat at the counter since the wait was about 15 minutes for a table. Taste was decent. I like my broth a bit more savory, but presentation was clean. Not too crazy about the taste. I would suggest some work with the flavor, but I think it satisfies the masses, which is more Western. The place was so crowded, they shut down their phone during their busier hours. At first from the outside this place doesn't look like much but once you go inside and try their food you realize how good they are! I've gone here several times especially to get my Vietnamese coffee fix. I'm from The SD area and have many Vietnamese friends so I've tried authentic Pho that their mom has made and I have to say this was the closest I can get to that taste in this area. Personally for me it was a little bit over price for the portion size, i'm used to paying about $10 and receiving almost twice the amount, but, the pho it still really good and why I keep coming back! read more

Even though the address says Long Beach it's actually around the corner from Los Alamitos, just fyi. Also, please don't expect the pricing to be like you would expect from Little Saigon. I had a craving for pho and was in Long Beach so this was the only restaurant within close proximity. I ordered the pho ga (chicken) and my kid had the pho tai (beef). Service was pretty good and the food came out within 10 minutes. My pho ga was just okay, kind of lacking in flavor. The pho tai was okay as well. I wish the broth had more flavor as I had to add a ton of hot sauce to give it some spunk. In terms of pricing, it was about $10 each so kind of expensive for what it was. But, you know, can't really complain. 3/5 stars. It's fine for a quick pho craving if you're in the area. read more

While we waited for our food, she served us the egg rolls. They were so yummy and packed with flavor.
