Just did a campus tour with the daughter and decided to come here since they have her favorite dish, garlic noodles. It's in a plaza with lots of parking. A simple open restaurant with ample seating. Ordering done at the counter. Food is brought out to you. Food was okay. Nothing amazing. It filled our tummies and that's what we needed. The Crispy Tofu Bites were a bit bland. The garlic noodles could use a bit more garlic. My Shaken Chicken was decent, could use more sauce. The drink was my favorite, Golden Milk Tea with boba (half sugar). Interesting experience with the girl who took our order...While she was wiping down tables, I asked her if we could have more water since she was the one who brought out the water, she said SURE. Then when I asked her if we could have two boxes, she informed me that she's not there to serve us, although she doesnt mind doing it. Just know other employees wouldnt be as kind. Pho was decent, quick service but person at the register was somewhat rude. Atmosphere was ok. Also you have to order at the register but when I went in there was no food menu on the overhead screen. While I was eating saw a potential customer come in and i watched her interact with front register person. She looked at the menu and walked out. The place is really clean. Its kinda dark and it was empty, which is never a good sign. The front desk is weird and there was no overhead menu. The table menu was in a basket next to the register. Worth the mention to dine at Hiccups Kitchen. I went around 12:41 pm on a Thursday to do some studying and it was pretty empty, which I personally loved. Most people came in, grabbed their food, and left. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and even the bathrooms were very clean and honestly really cute for pictures. I was surprised because you wouldn't even think they had a restroom like that inside. The staff was friendly and attentive. Keira was super sweet and the manager was professional and present the whole time. Now let's talk about the food. I ordered the Pad Thai because I wasn't in the mood to try anything too new and wanted something I already knew I liked. The serving size was great and it came with chicken and tofu, which surprised me, but I'm not complaining because it was delicious. Everything was hot, flavorful, and fresh. BUT the real star for me was the Vietnamese iced coffee with the ube foam on top. When I say that knocked my socks off... it absolutely did. I literally woke up the next day thinking about it. I would honestly go back just for that alone. It's not close to me, so now I'm trying to figure out how to get my hands on another one without making the drive every week because it was THAT good. Never really needed to get food from them. But the food SLAPS! I had I had the ribeye pho and it was better than I expected. Didn't taste watered down, and the ribeye was great! Comes in a small bowl, but half of it could have been enough. I underestimated the pho so I had ordered extra popcorn chicken and fries. Holy, the portion is huge. I thought it would be small. Stopped by Hiccups in Long Beach and it was a decent experience, though a bit hit or miss. I went with the garlic noodles with shaken beef the noodles themselves were tasty and full of flavor, but honestly, save your money on the beef. The quality wasn't great and the dish is much better plain with just the noodles. We also tried the popcorn chicken with sweet chili and ranch. Pro tip: skip the ranch it doesn't add much. Stick with the sweet chili, which is really tasty and makes the chicken shine. For drinks, I grabbed the horchata milk tea and my girlfriend had the fruity booty. The horchata milk tea was just okay it didn't really deliver on that classic horchata flavor. For starters, this is the kind of restaurant where you have to order at the front and then sit down at your own table, making it less work for the workers at the counter. The bad thing is that they don't even bring you water or anything, so I had to go back up and ask for it myself. Now for the food- - The pho noodles were completely overcooked and the portions were definitely too small for a $14 bowl of pho. - The pad see ew was greasy, flavorless and salty AND the beef was not fully cooked. WHY AREN'T YOU GUYS COOKING YOUR FOOD COMPLETELY??? - The cookies and cream milkshake had a bunch of ice chunks, and they use a very chemically tasted Hersheys syrup - Pad thai was also pretty salty and very very greasy ALSO THERE WERE FLIES EVERYWHERE!!! The ambience is great and there are plenty of tables to sit at. The workers are friendly and very helpful. The display is nice and bright. I know this place is popular with "the kids" as they say but as a boba spot, it doesn't compete with boba guys or other serious boba spots. The boba is tiny and not cooked that great. I just visited Hiccups this past Tuesday for the first time and I walked in there about 7:30 PM and it was pretty busy and I kind of felt bad cause there was only one person working. He was like cooking and working the register and taking the orders and serving people, I was like what is going on here? he was pretty much alone. Place was nice and tidy, welcoming . I ordered the pho-- (a little pricey but what isn't now a days) and the wait wasn't that bad, but honestly guys, I have to say, it might be the best pho I've ever had. I've tried pho from a lot of different places, so I don't say that lightly. The broth was incredibly flavorful, rich, and comforting, like it had been simmering for hours. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked, and everything just came together so well. Maybe I was just extra hungry, but it was so good I genuinely can't stop thinking about it. I already want to go back and try it again, though I'm almost nervous it won't live up to how amazing it was the first time. New spot next to CSULB so I had to check it out! I wish I took interior photos because it was gorgeous and HUGE. The service was fairly quick and the staff was nice. We ordered the small Coconut Taro Smoothie & Cookies and Cream Smoothie for about $6.00 (they have a BOGO deal when you check in). Overall, the drinks were alright. The Taro was a bit too sweet and we got a reduced sweetness. The Cookies & Cream was also okay- nothing special and it was a bit too icey for my liking. I would definitely come back if the BOGO deal is still going on but personally for me, not worth it at normal price. Have yet to tried their food so I'll have to come back!
