This is an awesome bakery/eatery in OCNJ. I have never had anything here I didn't like. Bennie's rolls are so good and take any sandwich to the next level. Speaking of sandwiches--I highly recommend their breakfast sandwiches. But the best thing about Bennie's, in my opinion, can be summed up in four words: Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Bread. Buffalo chicken tenders and cheese baked into a loaf of bread--kind of like a stromboli but not exactly the same. Everything was excellent, service and staff were friendly, will definitely be back. We had the Uncle G sandwich, which was a modified version of the chicken cutlet sandwich and it was fantastic. This place has the best cheese danish i have ever had in my life. Prior to today, i had never had a danish where i preferred the pastry part to the filled center. But these!!...they melt in your mouth! And the filling was really good too, so I'm totally going back every day this weekend. Oh and their home baked (bennie) bread they use on their breakfast sandwichs were a great touch on a very good breakfast sandwich. Blueberry muffin was also very good - my preschooler loved it! Ok, so this is a hidden gem located right before your eyes. The name is a bit deceiving, yes they have bread, in fact very good bread, but they have so much more. Think of the Italian market seaside, here the delicacies are endless. The roasted pork is juicy, with a blast of flavor, add a roasted long hot for a little heat. The meatballs are delicious...now wait, this isn't a bread shop and certainly not a sandwich shop...this is Benny's Bread! There is so much more, stop in and pick up prepared entrees such as lasagna, eggplant parm and so much more to make a delicious dinner at home with a little help as the chef at Benny's has dinner already started, more time in the beach and less in the kitchen. Ordered a vine ripened tomato sandwich for 6.99. You can add prosciutto for $3 so I did that and then paid another $3 for extra prosciutto. Sandwich consisted of maybe one small tomato and two slices of prosciutto and I am not exaggerating at all. Oh, and a few pieces of basil. Paid $13 for the sandwich! What a joke! read more

Wow! Wish I had found this place years ago! When you are sick of the typical boardwalk fair, come here for real food! Stumbled in and got grilled veggies, lobster bisque and a margarita gluten free pizza. The asparagus was the only so so item... needed a marinade or vinaigrette because there was no flavor, unlike the grilled . The eggplant was yummy.... but the real stars were the lobster bisque WOW! And my gf pizza. I didn't eat the pizza until almost an hour later, cold but it was still awesome! Would highly suggest for easy, quick meals. I'd love to try all the pastas but not GF. By far my favorite margherita pie. We love this place and usually go straight to Bennie's before unpacking. This trip we ordered the pie and the italian tuna sandwich and had it made into a salad with mixed greens. We asked for the fig dressing, which is the only dressing I get now because it is so good. Crazy good lunch at this local gem. Had a hot sausage & pepper sandwich "parmed" while my wife got the grilled chicken breast sandwich and we shared a cup of the seafood bisque. Both sandwiches were fantastic and the bisque was exceptional. If you're in OCNJ and want to take a step back to Brooklyn, be sure to stop by Bennie's ...... but be sure to bring a healthy appetite, and leave some room for the homemade Italian desserts. read more

This place is excellent. Their meatballs, long hots, roasted red peppers...All terrific! We bought so many loaves of bread it was ridiculous. The pork shoulder sandwich was very good as was the sausage and pepper sandwich. The cannolis were fresh and tremendous! read more

Bennie's for breakfast. Bennie's for lunch. Bennie's for dinner. Too bad they're only open til 6PM otherwise we'd probably snack there too. We get breakfast sammies on bagels or rolls, and they're phenomenal. Bennie's "Real Deal Italian" sammy is as advertised--and it's AMAZING! I had a tomato and mozz salad, side of penne, with one meatball for dinner and enjoyed every flavorful bite til the last. Staff is a bonus because they're actually nice people. read more

I was so looking forward to the new location opening at 4th and ocean. I always get their bread and pepperoni rolls. So good. The first weekend I walked down with my wife and kids and had breakfast sandwich's and coffee. All was fine. Came today for lunch and had the meatball Parm and my buddy had the real deal Italian. The Italian had very little meat on it. For half the price you can go to Wawa and get more meat on their junior sub. The meatball parm was with half frozen meatballs and couldn't even chew it. I love their bread and gravy. But come on. Friggen frozen meatballs for a $9 short sub. You lost a customer for good if that's what the plan is. read more

Had dinner at a friend's house and they served fresh pasta and sauce from Bennie's- it was incredible so I stopped in the next day! Love the vibe of the deli. I picked up some sauce to take home and made pasta the other night. So light and delicious. I love when you can tell that the ingredients are fresh- that's what makes the best red sauce! I would have gotten some more food at the counter but unfortunately there were a bunch of employees standing around. I don't like to spend money when I don't feel welcome. Really just incredible find in OC. Something for everyone. Tomato pies are the stars of the show but their margherita pizzas are as good as I've had in NYC or Philly. Pies are delish as well. We've tried the berry and the apple pie with walnuts, and both were great. What's funny is we haven't even tried the rolls or breads but they smell great too. This is my favorite place to eat in ocnj. The food is fresh and delicious. The desserts are out of this world! Try the chocolate eclairs or the raspberry shortbread and the huge chocolate chip cookies. They are fantastic! Highly recommend. A must at the shore! read more

We just came back from Bennie's and the food was so delicious. My husband had the pork shoulder sandwich that was a generous portion of succulent pork studded with roasted garlic, slow roasted and shredded- so juicy and tender. The bread which was perfection- soaked up all the delicious juice from the meat and was so good. We also had the lobster bisque which was studded with lobster meat and veggies - served with fresh bread- killer good. My son had the pizza which was made to order and a great size for lunch- can be easily shared. The shop was busy but the tables filled up and cleared out quickly. The staff was friendly and very quick. The only disappointment was not going there sooner! read more

I visit OCNJ annually and Bennie's is a required stop upon arrival and before departure. The pepperoni roll makes the perfect beach food, the cannoli are spectacular and filled to order (the true standard for good cannoli), the fresh pasta is excellent, the bagels are legit.
