Ever since I moved to the area in 2010, I've become a pizza snob because of Bennys Pizzeria. It is seriously the best tasting pizza I've had anywhere, and anytime I leave town for extended vacations, Bennys is what I want when I return. I literally get homesick for it. Last night, when my boyfriend and I went to my house for dinner after work, we realized there wasn't enough food for the both of us. It was 9:20pm, and we had seriously limited options because everything in the area closes by 9. We made a mad dash for Bennys, knowing they closed at 10, and made a call ahead asking for them to put two slices aside for us. When we arrived at 9:30, they informed us that usually stop serving around this time so they can clean up and leave by 10, but they happily filled our order for us anyway. As someone who works in a retail business, I understand being kept after closing time, so I felt the need to make up for it by leaving a bigger than normal tip for keeping the staff waiting. To my surprise upon returning home, we opened our pizza box to reveal four slices instead of just the two I had paid for. Not only is their pizza great, but so is their staff & owner. Delicious pizza!!! My family of 5 felt very welcomed and everyone loved our pepperoni and mushroom pizza! They don't skimp on the toppings and the mushrooms were fresh, not canned! Another bonus was the restroom was nice and clean. Will definitely be coming here again in the future. read more

After doing 19miles on the trail we were hungry! We stopped at this place since it was on our way to home. The place was small but had some seating outside as well. Inside it was hot but manageable. I called in advance and ordered a pie with cheese fries. After waiting the 20 minutes plus some extra time for the fries I got bacon cheese fries. So I had to wait extra for the cheese fries. She told me that ketchup was inside the bag when I asked for some but alas, there was none. We couldn't eat the fries but the pizza was delicious. I would go back for just the pizza. I think they were a little understaffed and didn't pick up a few times when I called but it shows just how well they are doing. When I was waiting for my fries, the second time around, the line was all the way outside! Overall, good pizza and seems like a popular joint in that area. It was $23 for the large plain pie and fries which is a bit pricey since I have a place in Liberty NY that's way cheaper. read more

A business that survives completely off the fact there's no competition nearby. Could be much better if they had a better owner running it. The actual food is fine, and eating in the business usual goes without a hitch, but forget calling in an order. Living only a mile down the road and having order only a sandwich and small pizza at 5, it took an hour and a half for the delivery to come, and after calling and complaining twice we were still expected to pay a delivery charge. The reason the deliveries take so long is because the owner underpays and under-appreciates his employees. This leaves the few that can put up with the neglect overwhelmed by the amount of deliveries that come in. As someone who lives 15 minutes away from the next pizza place, I will definitely make the drive next time rather than support this poor business owner. read more

Best pizza in the upstate region! As a Brooklyn born and raised Italian, I can honestly say this is by far the best. Any of the redneck hillbillies that wrote reviews stating otherwise have no idea what pizza is supposed to taste like. They also need to realize that when you order a pie with fresh mozzarella, you are going to wind up with a wet soggy pie when you put it in a box for delivery. Fresh mozzarella releases a lot of water when it's cooked. Get a clue people and get off your ass and to have a fresh pie in the store... That's how it's meant to be. read more

As a child, I regularly went with my mother to get pizza here, and Benny has always been a generous community member and business owner. Benny's Pizzeria has made every pizza since moving out of the area a huge letdown. To this day, I look forward to coming home and ordering a pie to eat with friends and family. The pies are a little pricier than other places, but the quality more than makes up for it. Great flavor and topping options make this the place to go for pizza (and don't forget the garlic knots). I've been going to Benny's for years, went there weekly when they were in Kingston. Foods pretty dang good, a little pricey, but the slices are big so it kinda evens out. Table service isn't the best currently, but they have no waitress/waiter. It's Benny, his son (delivery) , and 2 employees. They do ok, but it could be better. The food takes a bit too long to be ready before you can pick up. I love that it's close to the college, it's easy to go grab a slice between classes. My food is always hot when I pick it up, which is great, it stays hot for the drive back to campus. It's nice to see a non commercialized family business sticking around in the area. Overall Benny's is worth going to, especially if you like supporting small/family owned businesses read more

First it's hard to pick which slice to choose from Benny's - the slices are huge. My favorite is the eggplant - Delicious!!! There's a menu to choose from as well with other meal options. The eating area is small but comfy and it's a great place to people watch as there is always someone coming in for a slice! I just read a "review' with accusations against the owner regarding hearsay and taking monies from the tip jar (the review made mention that Benny's children aren't working at the restaurant but receive the tips which he supposedly gives to them instead of staff - All of Benny's kids have worked at the restaurant at one time or another and right now his son is employed there full time. It's a family run business with great employees some of which are his children). I have only known Benny to be a very generous person and his community charitable acts are too many to count. He has given Gift Certificates for fund raising events and has hosted concerts at his restaurant to raise money for varying causes just to mention a few. I have known him a long time and have only known him to be a generous supporter of his community. Let's keep reviews about the service provided and the food we received - keep them about the experience of your visit. Was the food fresh, tasty with fair portions? Was the establishment clean and friendly? Was the staff polite and inviting? Right? Write about YOUR experience . I am SO disappointed, upset, angry.... We were having a memorial for our Grandmother. We picked Benny's because we love their food. So we picked a venue that was close by to have Benny's cater. What a mess!!! Was told we would get Sterno burners, stands, serving utensils. They said they'd even "throw in the garlic knots for free". When the food was finally dropped off 25 mins. Late!!! (Ordered a week in advanced) There was none of this!!! Thin foil pans of food were brought in. That was it. When asked about stuff missing, the guy said "they ran out of sternos, and the person in charge said they didn't want the garlic knots"... that was not true. We could've got sternos on our own! The guy said "well they just came out of the oven". For how long they were going to sit, that was not acceptable. They forgot the salad dressing & had to come back w/ the knots & brought dressing in cottage cheese & ricotta containers... Gave one star because to the food was ok. So not happy!!! Take a glimpse behind the scenes. The chicken used to prepare the cutlets used in almost everything they make sometimes sit out over night and are not kept fresh so I have heard. While they are being fried the guy cooking them is on his cell phone and he eats as he cooks which i thought was a big no no in the food industry.. gross! My salad was soggy and when i took the lid off my dressing cup there was a film over the dressing as if it had been sitting for days. My daughters slice of pizza was burnt on the bottom and my husbands spaghetti was dry and crispy like it had been sitting out on the counter before they served it because it was cold as well. Not a place I would recommend which is disappointing because I am close friends with Jen and Rosalie. Also on my way out I needed to use the restroom.. it was filthy! Working in retail for a long time, I know that when there is an issue it's easier to resolve it with a calm and nicer approach. I live about 5 minutes from Benny's and it took over 50 minutes for my food order to come. It came with a smile but was also cold. I ordered mozzarella sticks for my kids, and they were cold. So I heated them up in the microwave. I also ordered penne ala vodka and a calzone with garlic. When I cut open my calzone, there was no garlic or mozzarella cheese. The penne ala vodka was past with tomato sauce. When I called and spoke with the manager, he was so disrespectful and instead of offering to give me the CORRECT food he argued with me that he made the calzone and he put garlic in the food. He then told them to go back and collect the food from me and he would refund whatever I didn't touch, which would only be the penne since I cut into the calzone to look for the garlic. I'm more than disgusted with my experience and I will never order food from there again. Word of mouth is the number one business killer so maybe they should work on their customer service skills. read more

This place absolutely sucks!! Their customer service (including the owner) is absolutely miserable. I live locally and unfortunately my options are limited; would rather drive and pick up my order (which is what I know do) some where else, than have delivery from this miserable place. It takes them more than an hour to deliver less than 8 miles. They regularly mess our order up; and then try to make it seem like its my fault- "oh, you really want me to go back and get the soda/ sticks/knots/no glueten-no cheese you ordered; well yeah, I'm paying a delivery fee and tipping you on top of screwing up my order. Yes, I want you to go back and get EVERYTHING I ordered. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS PLACE!!! The service sucks, the pizza sucks and they are never willing to accept responsibility for their mistakes! That attitude can only come down from one place, the owner or manager... Benny only cares about one thing; not about making your order right or providing good customer service; he only cares about making more money off of YOU, providing an inferior product; and telling you to go 'stick it', while buying more 'Yankees' sport memorabilia.
