This restaurant recently opened near Randolph AFB in Universal City. They have kinda weird hours, only open from Breakfast (6am) till 3pm, and offer Military (15%) and Senior discounts (10%.) The complimentary chips & salsa was good; the salsa has a little kick to it and was quite enjoyable. The chips were fresh and crispy. Drinks are served in cans with glasses & ice. Interior was well lit and the wait staff was on the ball and attentive. I tried the Chicken Flautas plate and it was good**, but the crispy Beef taco was PHENOMENAL. The taste was good but not great just did not have that taste I prefer. It"s taste was weak. Now on to the barbocoa taco was very good. Had a very good taste. Went here for the first time this morning while visiting my parents in Universal City. My boyfriend and I saw the reviews and had to try this place out. Lisa's Taco Hut did not disappoint! There was essentially no wait, and we went at about 9:30am. The drive thru was efficient and fast. I had 2 bean & cheese tacos and my boyfriend had 2 bacon & egg. 4 tacos for basically $4? Love it! The tortillas were incredibly fresh and the tacos were well-filled and not "heavy" like a lot of the greasier tacos I've had. The beans were smooth but didn't taste like lard, and my boyfriend had plenty of bacon mixed with he egg! They came with a salsa verde type hot sauce which I was incredibly fond of. Just spicy enough to burn my tongue but not hurt my lips! We were full but not in pain by the time we finished! We will most certainly be back on our next visit! read more

Do yourself a favor, eat here. We went there June 11, 2019 to have breakfast before our round of golf. The coffee was better than the swill we were getting at our hotel. The breakfast was better than the "free" breakfast we were exposed to at our hotel. We were enjoying it so much we just sat there, had another cup and talked our heads off. (Still made it to the golf course well ahead of our time, Smile). They guarantee that if you eat there everyday you'll live to be 110, if you don't they'll give you all your money back. Ok, so Tia' makes some of the best breakfast tacos in town and their tortillas are great! HOWEVER, do not use their drive through! It takes SO long. I am sitting in line right now writing this. There is one car in front of me and I have been in line for 15 minutes--not an exaggeration. Once I got home, I saw that my egg, potato, cheese and bacon tacos did not have any EGGS! I drive by this place all the time so decided one afternoon to grab lunch there from the drive-thru. I ordered the puffy taco combo plate (chicken). The lady at the drive-thru asked me to pull forward after I paid and that she would bring my food to my car when it was ready. I waited about 7 or 8 minutes until it was brought to me. The food was very visually appealing and smelled great. The puffy tacos were amazing---great flavor and loved the thickness of the puffy tortillas. They were a little too juicy as the juices were soaking the tortilla and making it slightly soggy. The beans and rice were good and the flour tortillas on the side were ok, slightly dry. I'd go back and try other items on their menu. Its not my favorite Mexican place but its pretty good and I'd give it another try. read more

Unfortunately, I left this place ripped off, disappointed, and very upset. Underneath their sign is a very large sign that reads "Breakfast Tacos 2 for $1.50 - Before 11 a.m. - Mon-Fri." Simple enough right? Great deal, even? It would have been, but it turns out Lisa's Taco Hut only does this for tacos that only include the following ingredients: egg, chorizo, papa, bean, cheese. I ordered through the drive-thru and was not told the price of my order. That's always disappointing to me, but I never realized how important this verification could be until I was out 6 times what I was willing to pay. All false advertising aside, when I asked for less tacos, they refused, saying they had already made the tacos. I asked for my money back, and they refused saying they already made the tacos. Obviously I could have, and probably should have, demanded it. Instead I paid their ridiculously overpriced sausage prices (they charge extra for cheese and beans, too, if you get a "meat,") and came home hoping their incredibly unprofessional exchange would blow over. Their watery tacos leaked all over my table, and the cheese is awful, and that was the last straw. There's no worth in going here to pay extra for tacos. San Antonio is known for their plethora of breakfast tacos, and Lisa's Taco Hut believes that cheating you is the best way to beat the competition. I supposed their cheat worked today. But if you are reading this, then at least I clarified their terms better then their so-called business could. It goes without saying I won't be returning to either location. I went there this morning with my daughter and tried the fish tacos. Honestly I wasn't expecting much however, when they came out they were perfectly seasoned and the shredded cabbage and the sauce they made for it was soooooo good. I was totally blown away with how delicious they were!! I did wait a while for them but they were worth the wait. They were served fresh and the corn tortillas had a nice flavor to them as well!! Looking for an alternative fir breakfast, I decided to venture down Pat Booker in search of a change and decided on trying s local Mexican restaurant. Well, I ended up trying Tia's Taco Hut which is operating out of an abandoned Wendy's building, and As I approached the building on Saturday, the parking lot was packed which is usually a great sign! Upon entering the building, I was greeted to a packed dining room filled with an assortment of patrons eating breakfast tacos. So I eagerly approached the counter and ordered my tacos. My son and I found a seat, and we sat down and did some people watching. Within 10 minutes, our orders arrived and my son and I dove into our tacos. I was pleased to see the imperfections in size and color with my tortillas because they tasted homemade. And , the differences in color were due to the time spent on the flat top! My carne guisada tacos were awesome: the mead was tender and the gravy was plentiful and well seasoned. My son's bean, cheese and bacon tacos were equally delicious or I think they were. My son ate them quickly and did not complain. The salso was average, but it too was homemade so, I am curious to see if it will be better next time. Finally, I am happy to find a local Tex-Mex establishment providing food to those that frequent Universal City. And, I hope they continue to keep it rustic! read more

Ordered two carne gisada tacos today - was a first time visit to Lisa's Taco Hut and ONLY because my favorite place was closed (Acapulco). The tacos were full of fat - more fat than meat. I called to seek a refund or a manager's voucher and was told no go and that I had to bring back my left overs (I had taken a couple bites out of one) to get two NEW carne gisada tacos...no thank you!
