We also spent an hour at the King Tut exhibit across the street! This restaurant/bar always seems packed. And, with reservations for 645pm (highly recommend) the bar was quite busy. The buzz from this high-end cocktail bar is exactly what you want on a Friday evening; From girlfriends sipping their wine to couples laughing and swirling their cocktails, Moon Bar is for the classy and sexy. Abby our server is excellent! A mixologist who knows all the cocktails and can recommend based on your preference. I tried one of their new cocktails with bourbon and did not care for it. Abby made me my mezcal drink that I have ordered before...its the 305 cowboy, an extremely popular drink. A must try for sure! Note: Some bartenders make you feel guilty for saying something about a drink you ordered and did not like. But, here at Moon Bar, Abby was so gracious to make me something that I will enjoy. Hats off to her:) Food: Since it was restaurant week we just shared everything. For starters we ordered the Tuna Tartare that was excellent. Then, we had Piri-Piri Chicken Thighs that were also good but quite spicy. For dessert, we shared the Caribbean Tiramisu, which was great. It was a tough choice between this and the Guava Cheesecake. We were so full that we ended up bringing home leftovers. Oh, I also forgot to mention we always order their Curry Fries - a must try when coming here Trust Me. My husband doesn't love curry but he loves these fries and you will too. #friesaretodiefor Moon Bar, thanks for being amazing in every way. Thanks for your splendid service, crafty cocktails, delicious wine (try the Pinot Noir from Germany), and your amazing food ---Love those Curry Fries! We tried the spiced watermelon, fried sweet plantains and smoked pork ribs, along with some beers and cocktails. The spiced watermelon had a big kick, which made it a little too much for me. The spot itself is cute and has a nice vibe, but overall, I wasn't super impressed with the food. It was a decent experience but it wouldn't be my first choice to return to if I was in Boston.

The entire menu is gluten free but even if it wasn't, this place easily competes with regular bakeries. The ube brownie is dense, silky, and fudge-like. The sugar and ube are potent and attack you it's perfect for a sweet tooth though I strongly recommend with cold brew. The flavor is so sweet that I couldn't finish the block! Can easily be shared for 2 I came here for the chocolate chip cookie. Thin, crisped at the edges by the sugar, no shortage of ooey gooey chips in the middle. The line wraps around the baked goods window. I like the open concept kitchen and the service is efficient. Gives you time to see what you want and change your mind, especially if something comes out fresh. The breakfast menu stops at 11am but even their premade baguette sandwiches were delicious. Highly recommend a hot sandwich. Lastly, seating is tight but it is ample. It seems like there are waves of crowds. If visiting at a busier time, might be a good idea to have a friend hold a table while you get in line to place the order. What a great start to Boston :) Thank you!

We weren't sure we'd actually get a seat, so we ordered to-go just in case. Then, of course, a table opened up and we ended up eating there. We also grabbed a cookie and muffin for later because...priorities. We ordered the congee and roasted vegetable sandwich. The congee was good, but definitely not your typical congee. It had a lot going on--spicy, sweet, salty...basically all the flavors decided to show up to the party at once. I liked it, but didn't love it, and after a while it was a little hard to keep going. The roasted vegetable sandwich was flavorful, but unfortunately way oilier than we expected. We wanted to love it, but it was just ok. Overall, a fun spot to try, especially if you're curious about the hype. The food is creative and has plenty of personality, but for me, it was more "glad I tried it" than "I need to come back immediately."

Still, I only got to two of the places. Since I already went to Downeast recently I wanted to try Far From The Tree in Salem. But with an itinerary that defied the laws of physics I had to cross off some spots and I'm grateful that Downeast mixed it up with new seasonal offerings and non-store exclusives. The flight started with white peach, a perfect light and summery creation. Then strawberry rhubarb brilliantly deployed a note of earthiness to reduce the sweetness. As for black cherry, to quote Some Kind of Monster, I would delete that one, as it lacked the distinction of its neighbors. But the finale was a success, the proudly non-traditional cider donut, an epic blast of sugar and cinnamon (?).

If you go to the tasting room inside you can get a flight for $15 and they have clean restrooms. It is also cool to see all the cans. Outside they have the pop-up where you can get full pours and enjoy the harbor views. Gotta use porta-potties though. They aren't as bad as they could be though. Service is chill vibes and they are pet friendly with plenty of shades seating.

This time we were ravenous, having spent 12 hours carrying heavy boxes and furniture all day, so primed for a good meal. The Rouleaux egg rolls were superb and the steamed shrimp & crab dumplings outstanding, both accompanied by simple but distinct sauces that really made them pop. Our entrees were equally impressive. The crispy fried catfish (Trey Tuk Peng Pah) and seafood noodles (Crevettes, Moules, Champignon Et Pates De Riz Au Gingembre) are my favorites. Such fresh ingredients combined with striking flavors really made it enjoyable. Our server was engaging and had very helpful insights as well.

The reviews looked good and I was excited to try their unique menu... well, let's just say we were very disappointed. First of all the prices are very expensive. I know this is Boston, but $17 for a cocktail is ridiculous! Our server was lovely, he was very kind and had a kind spirit. I was excited to try the "Rouleaux" since they remind me of the eggrolls, my mother learned from her Vietnamese mother-in-law. It was very crispy, which unfortunately is the only good thing I can say about it. The flavor was so off. It's almost as if the ingredients in the Rouleaux were loudly competing for my attention simultaneously! It didn't really melt in your mouth either, it just felt heavy. The other appetizer we ordered was called Dumplings croustillants au poet epics. This was actually worse than first appetizer. I like lemongrass, but MAN the lemongrass was so overpowering. I started to wonder... "is this how it's always made"?! I'm not even exaggerating. Overall, the atmosphere was nice - definitely pricey, and the food isn't worth the hype. Till next eats, SJ

The line was moving slowly, despite only two customers ahead of us, which kind of surprised us. Not really any ambiance is present here because it is an order-based line and the space constraints keep them from offering any tables, but the aim here is efficiently getting people in and out. So this does the job. Great donuts! Highly recommend!

Not necessarily my favorite type, I prefer more cake type with some density but these were pretty good. I came late so the fritters were gone but he was able to pull together a bag of mixed smaller fritter pieces which I enjoyed. If this was an Apple fritter, they were missing the Apple? Still the sugar on the bottom and the wonderful cinnamon taste made me eat them all. The best donut left looked to be the jelly filled. Haven't enjoyed one of these in a while. Still as good as I remembered. The fancy donuts looked to be gluten free, they had a ton of them. Probably because nobody likes gluten free donuts... Kane's reminded me of a great local donut shop with a touch of class. If I was close by I'd grab them again but likely to seek out another shop in Boston to compare next time I'm back.
