Our first visit felt surprisingly cold and disorganized. We waited several minutes before anyone acknowledged us, and the overall atmosphere lacked the attentiveness you'd expect when making a major purchase. We were eventually paired with Zach and explained our interest in the Hyundai IONIQ 5. He first showed us a lower trim model that we immediately expressed wasn't a fit. We were then shown and test-drove the Limited trim, which we really liked for its specific features and options. Most of the follow-up happened over text, which was perfectly fine, but this is where the experience went wrong. During one exchange, I mistakenly referred to the trim as the "SEL" after researching multiple vehicles online and previously owning a VW where SEL represented the top trim. However, I also clearly described the exact features we cared about, features that were ONLY included on the Limited trim we had test driven. At no point did Zach pause to verify that we were purchasing the vehicle that actually matched those requested features. While I fully acknowledge my mistake in referencing the trim incorrectly, I also believe a salesperson's role is to guide the process carefully and ensure the customer is getting the vehicle they intended to buy. We proceeded with financing, paperwork, and delivery, assuming we were receiving the same trim level we had driven. When the car arrived at our home the next day, we immediately noticed several key features were missing. What stood out most afterward was the dismissive response and lack of accountability once the sale was complete. I later spoke with Moe, one of the sales managers, hoping to find some form of resolution (even if it required additional cost on our end), but was ultimately told there was nothing they could do. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What disappointed us most wasn't the mistake itself, but how little effort was made to resolve it once it became clear there had been a disconnect between the car we test drove and the car we received. If I could go back, I would not purchase from Westlake Hyundai again. My advice to anyone considering buying here: verify every trim, package, and feature yourself in writing before signing anything. Yes, the salesperson should be accountable and helpful to do this, but that wasn't our experience. Once the paperwork is complete, the customer experience changes very quickly. I gave a single star because of a positive experience with Mike in finance (who was kind, considerate, and supremely helpful) and for the vehicle itself, which is alright. Given our experience, we won't be returning for service or any additional dealings and will take our business elsewhere.

Upon filling out a general inquiry with interest in purchase of a GX 550 on the website, I was contacted by Kimberly Campo, a sales person at the dealership. I explained our interest in the vehicle and what trims and colors we were most interested in. She immediately began offering me vehicles on the lot that were in direct opposition to what I had just stated I wanted. We had already placed a deposit at another dealership, as is standard practice for the GX at this time, but wanted to inquire whether Thousand Oaks had our vehicle already in stock. We are well aware that dealer markups have become standard practice at most dealerships on this model, and while we did not desire to pay any markup, all we requested was transparency. From the initial interaction, the Thousand Oaks website and window stickers do not indicate the markup that is added on the lot. Kimberly made it clear that Thousand Oaks does include a markup on the GX and proceeded to inform me of all the unwanted paint and leather protectants that would get on all of their vehicles. I informed Kimberly that we had placed a deposit at a dealership who proudly sells at MSRP, and that we weren't interested in moving forward with Thousand Oaks at this time. Kimberly contacted me again the following Thursday and told me she had several new allocations including the vehicle that I had expressed interest in (an Overtrail in Earth). It would be arriving the next day. I confirmed with her that there would be markup, which she confirmed at $5,000, and then I asked her what their price would be on that particular vehicle. She took the $79k MSRP for that VIN, added the $5k and informed me it would be $84k. While we hoped to purchase at MSRP, we were tired of waiting on that vehicle, and we set an appointment to come and see her on Saturday prepared to pay that amount. We called on Friday afternoon with availability to come earlier than intended, and Kimberly stated she wanted to ensure the vehicle was still there prior to us driving over from Ventura. She confirmed it was still available at which point she texted me the window sticker at $92k. I immediately called her back and asked how the vehicle price had increased so much from the day before and she informed me that the price she shared was the price before the vehicle hit the ground. This had not been clarified, nor did she insinuate that if I came in to purchase on Thursday I would be saving myself $8K on the vehicle. I told her that we would no longer be coming down, because I found her (and quite possibly all of Lexus Thousand Oaks's practices dishonest and manipulative) to which she happily replied "I'm okay with that". Needless to say, we won't be shopping at Lexus Thousand Oaks now or ever. Regardless, we purchased our Overtrail in Earth on Sunday without a dealer markup, and we are so happy to have supported honest business practices in lieu of this sham.
