Really cute, quaint spot in Old Town! The associates working here were friendly and conversational with customers during my visit, which was nice to see. I ordered the cardamom rose iced latte to drink and the smashed avocado toast with fried egg to eat and it was very yummy! The bread was lightly grilled, which yielded a nice crunch to what would have otherwise been mushy. They were super generous with their avocado spread and it seemed like they might have combined a smooth spread with coarsely chopped avocado, something I liked. The egg on top had a perfectly runny yolk, too! The shop might consider not serving on top of the parchment paper because as I ate and cut bites, pieces of the paper were making their way into my food. The plasticware also didn't seem quite sturdy enough, or maybe I was just being overzealous with my cutting! At any rate, the plastic ware broke, so I just ate the rest by hand - no big deal! read more

I got three lattes here, to go, on a Wednesday morning. Everything was hot, tasty, and made pretty quickly - and there was only one person running the till and making the coffees, and one doing the food. the total with tip was $17.xx. Pretty typical, especially for Scottsdale. I didn't get to select my size (I think it was a 10 or 12 oz cup?); I think they should offer gigantic sizes is because the latte was SO DARN GOOD. I got the cardamom rose, which is always a gamble because it could taste like soap or lotion. It paid off because the rose was just a hint, and it was absolutely perfect. My hotel was 0.3 miles away and I drank the whole thing before I even got back (again, def need a bigger size!). It was also not all that crowded, only a few people ahead of me. We actually left a different place down the road because it was insanely crowded, and this was a nice surprise, especially because we had to get back to jump on a call. Next time I'm in town, I'm definitely coming here for my morning jump start. read more

I love Berdenas. Best breakfast sandwich!! My 3 star review is for bringing a concerning matter to attention that bothers me and likely others. PLEASE READ STAFF: They have some really good looking pastries that they have out on display but I refuse to purchase them because almost every single time I am in line it's so disgusting to see that they use NO COVER on them and I see FLIES or flying INSECTS land on the croissants, cookies, and cheese danishes!! It's a shame because they look so good. ITS SO EASY TO ADD A COVER OVER THEM!! DO IT!! Everything else is great. This place is excellent. The coffee is good. The burrito and breakfast sandwiches are some of your best choices in Scottsdale. Sometimes they can be slow but it's fine with me. Thankfully the burrito and the coffee made up for the very long wait, the baristas lacking any spatial awareness, sense of urgency. I waited 15-20 minutes to get to the cash register and upon getting to my turn they instead let the door dasher cut in front of me to pay for their order which ended up being canceled, unfortunate when I have been waiting in line to just to let someone be prioritized over me who did not wait in line. The girl at the register who was also was setting the cups up for the baristas did not put my coffee ticket or cup in line to be prepared, she completely forgot, saw me standing there waiting after many other customer got their coffee before I did. I ended up having to ask is there an order there for my name? There wasn't. Which then they made it on the spot and it took less than one minute. The barista instead of focusing on her job kept flirting and talking to the male customer after me, why do I have to wait 30+ minutes for a coffee, even my burrito came out way before then. It's so unfortunate that a place with great potential can't get it together, doesn't have spatial awareness, no any kind of urgency even knowing how busy they are AND their pastry is left open for flys to land on top of, they only had one portion of pastry's covered. read more

Today we ordered the burrito, the breakfast sandwich with egg over hard, sub bacon, iced vanilla latte with almond milk and an iced matcha with honey and almond milk. The burrito came out perfect, slightly crisp tortilla, crispy bacon, soft potatoes with a slight crisp to the exterior, cheese and avocado layered expertly. The dipping sauce was excellent, not too spicy yet full of flavor. The breakfast sandwich was also expertly crafted, soft bread with the perfect amount of toasted-ness and the rest of the ingredients were very fresh and put together with care. Both drinks were of high quality, freshly prepared and perfectly proportioned. All items came out quickly despite a long line, the staff were friendly and attentive. The space is small but exterior seating is adequate, the only thing they could adjust is a better hood to remove the smoke from the kitchen. Definitely will return! read more

This is a really popular spot near downtown Scottsdale. We ordered two drinks - a pumpkin latte and a chai. Both were yummy, but the chi stole the show. We try a chai and a coffee in every new coffee shop/city we are in, and the chai was top tier here! Service was quick and kind, and barista greeted us after we grabbed our drinks. Berdenas used to be my go to in the old town area. However, it had really gone downhill based on my recent visits. The last two times my lattes have tasted like straight milk with zero espresso flavor. This is incredibly frustrating given the $8 price after tax and tip, I can buy a gallon of milk for half that price which is what I'm now receiving. I was really looking forward to trying their coffee and pastries on our first visit. I waited in line like everyone else, but when I finally got inside to order, the male employee took a couple of steps back, rolled his eyes, and started rotating his shoulders with attitude, saying, "There's a line outside," as if I had skipped everyone. I calmly let him know that I had waited in line, and he just said, "Ohhh, okay." The cinnamon roll and coffee were absolutely delicious, but that unnecessary attitude dampened the whole experience. Nice outdoor seating in the shade. You order inside at the desk and pick up there. I like that they have a small menu so they can focus on a couple great items. Avocado toast with an egg was great. Drinks are good, food is great, service is outrageously bad. Came on a day where they weren't too busy, only 1 person ahead of me in line. Yet for some reason it took almost half an hour to get 2 drinks. They had hot, fresh food ready in 5 minutes. And then I stood there for 25 minutes waiting for one tea and one coffee. The tea was just hot water and a tea bag, and that took 15 mins. I have no idea what they're doing that it takes them this long to make drinks when they're not that busy, but it's idiotic. The avocado toast was delicious!! $9!! It was the perfect ratio of bread to avocado. Crunch level was perfect! The breakfast sandwich add ham with the brioche bun was savory and delicious! My friend and I had to split them to do the take test! Both were amazing! Onto the blueberry scone with cornbread,... another hit! We can't wait to go back to try the burrito next. Self absorbed staff more interested in talking to each other than making the drinks.....10 minutes between my cap and the cortado for my partner is way to long. Cute coffee shop in Old Town. Love the simple, clean, minimalist esthetic of of this spot. There is some indoor seating and a few outdoor tables, as well. When we stopped in, there were only a couple people ahead of us in ordering but a much longer line of people waiting for their orders. Not long after we ordered, there were more people lining up out the door. My husband and I each ordered a honey lavender latte with oatmilk and a cinnamon roll. Both were delicious! We got the cinnamon rolls warmed up and the cream cheese frosting made it extra decadent and tasty. It did take a little while to get our order and the cinnamon rolls were ready way before our lattes were. It would have been nice if they were done at the same time. I also got the breakfast sandwich, and it was one of those sandwiches where you read the description and you're like oh this is the literal perfect combination of amazing sounding ingredients, then it wildly under delivers. Ie marinated tomato was just a regular old sliced tomato. It was probably 3 stars for the food but I gave it 4 starts for the ambience. I've bean thinking about Berdena's a latte! This adorable coffee shop not only serves coffee and tea, they also serve breakfast items and pastries. I ordered two lattes; lavender honey with oat milk for my friend and cinnamon honey with oat milk for myself. Both drinks were delicious and had the perfect amount of flavor (I accidentally took a sip of my friend's drink, oops!). I came in with the intention of just getting the lattes. However, when I saw the delectable looking cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting, I couldn't help myself and had to get one, too. It was the best decision I've made in a while! This roll was pretty big, good for sharing, if you don't inhale all in one sitting. The frosting was simply irresistible.
