Brunch at Berkeley social club deserves all its hype! Id been meaning to come here for years and finally did and it was delicious. We got the chicken and waffles, vegetarian scramble, veggie burger, and a ricotta pancake. Amazing flavors and very filling so everything can definitely be shared! Service was a little slow but staff were very friendly and checked on anything when we asked to follow up on things. The ambiance is nice and chill with a lively vibe!

Brunch done the right way in Berkeley! From hard to find parking to the loud environment to bottomless mimosas to Korean fusion dishes. Everything meshes just right. We went with the bottomless mimosa option. They offer 4 different flavors: OJ, raspberry, peach, and Tiffany (for it's color). We enjoyed the peach one the most. Our server made sure we had refills on both water and mimosas at all times. We started off strong with the Pajun Pancake. A good ratio of shrimp, bacon, and veggies. The sauce it was paired with was the wow factor and we even asked for more. The bulgogi on both the bulgogi bowl and bulgogi scramble was tender and had a tasty marinade. I would had wished the bulgogi scramble didn't have as much red onion. I was surprised with the sweet potato tots option and that didn't disappoint. The spicy pork sandwich was elevated and balanced out with the kimchi slaw and cucumber combo. We finished with the Crunch French toast and it was perfection! Fluffy inside but a crunchy outside. I would come back to try their other options for brunch and dinner.

I was craving some brunch so decided to come to the Berkeley Social Club. They have a very diverse Korean-Western fusion menu and will have something for everyone. We especially enjoyed the salmon benedict and the bulgogi bowl. Service was great. We came on a Monday at 11:30 and were seated with no wait. The restaurant is spacious and clean.

Dazzling and delicious, my favorite place to get Korean Fried Chicken--features must-try fusion flavors like millionaires bacon, coupled with attentive service and a swanky ambiance that truly make this spot a top ten contender for best in Berkeley.

Really cool vibes at this place. The servers were very friendly and happy! It's a Korean inspired fusion place - so many dishes to try! We only tried 3 of them - loved them all! The tamarindo was phenomenal!! Can't wait to come back and try more food :) We tried the gooey corn, BSC Bao and K tacos. We asked for some extra spicy sauce and they have that to us - YUM!

My second time here. My daughter & I enjoyed ourselves. A treat for me from her for Mom's Weekend This time I got: - 2 Eggs , Millionaire Bacon which comes with potatoes & white toast (I swapped the white toast for English muffin) My daughter got: - Spicy Pork Bowl - Dirty Ube Latte (dirty means espresso added) Pros: - I always like the vibe of this place, just happy staff & customers in a beautiful place with good food. - the staff are very attentive - food presentation & flavor is great Cons: - parking is tough - the restaurant is noisy , so not a pick on an anxious day

Came here for brunch with the family. Hubby and son ordered crab and salmon benedicts, daughter ordered the kids pancake with fruit and I ordered their version of "jook". We call shared the KFC bites (soooo good). Everything was delicious!

Parking is a little tricky but we were able to find a spot right away! We went on a Sunday so it was really busy around 12-1pm. We put ourselves on the waitlist and the wait was about 30-40mins. I've gotten the Ube latte, and it was pretty yummy but I could barely taste the ube. We waited about 25mins for our food to come out but it was fresh and hot when we've gotten it. It was super yummy! I liked my scrambled bulgogi. It came with potatoes and a slice of toast. Overall I finished my plate! We ordered: Side of Mixed fruits Bulgogi scrambled Tornado Bulgogi Omurice Dirty Ube Latte Hot chocolate (not pictured) The place was really pretty but by the host stand it was very tight. Better to wait outside for your table!

I've been to BSC a couple of times during undergrad, but this was my first visit in a while after coming back to Berkeley! Before going, I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. There's usually a line (especially on weekends for brunch or in the evenings), but thankfully I was seated quickly while my friend looked for parking nearby. Now, this isn't the restaurant's fault, but it was LOUD. We happened to be seated next to two very social groups, so it was a bit difficult to hear anything. Which duh, we're in a social club! But I was practically yelling just to talk to my friend lol. Depending on your tolerance, you might want to ask to be seated on the patio, since it can get pretty rowdy inside. As for the food, it was fine. I had been craving BSC's Mascarpone Blueberry Stuffed Crunch French Toast after years of deprivation, while my friend ordered a burger with a side of fries. I'm not sure what changed (or maybe it's just me), but the French toast was much greasier than I remembered (with even less fruit!) Every bite felt pretty heavy, and while I was excited to eat it, I only managed to finish half before tapping out. My friend, on the other hand, finished her plate so maybe a burger was the way to go. I did manage to steal a fry though, which was amazing, so I'd highly recommend that. But I probably wouldn't order the French toast again. All in all, the service was great! The ambiance was a bit loud, and the food was okay. BSC is definitely a must-try brunch spot if you're in Berkeley, but if I go again, I'd probably opt for a different dish from their expansive menu.

I came here for a brunch date on a saturday, and I totally understand it being busy given the time we came, but it was extraordinarily loud in the restaurant; I had to shout to the person sitting across from me to speak. I noticed it's a spot where groups like to come & dine, it's not the place if you're trying to eat a nice meal. The food itself was below average. The BSC Scramble could have used more egg, the potatoes weren't seasoned. The french toast also lacked flavor, I added some jam to help lift the flavor of the dish. The Korean KFC was the worst dish, and we regret ordering it. The chicken itself was dry, stringy, and unseasoned. It was over fried and dried out the inside, the honey mustard mayo was needed to made it edible. I will not be returning.

My GF and I stopped in unexpected as we were meeting friends at a nearby hookah lounge. I wanted to try something new in an area I don't come to often that was close to our destination. I am glad I took a chance on this place because the whole experience was great. I called a couple hours before and was able to reserve a table for 2. Being unfamiliar with the area I didn't anticipate parking being hard to find, but after circling the block once, we found a spot. We were greeted warmly by staff and quickly seated. The decor was nice; great ambiance; large bar with a lot of tv's (perfect for watching the last game of the NBA finals, as the Knicks won). We both ordered the raspberry lemonade. I have been a huge fan of fresh handmade lemonade lately and it did not disappoint. Fresh, tart and sweet. A little too tart for my GF's taste, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Appetizers were the Millionaire's Bacon and Cheesy Gyoza. The bacon was soooo good. 2 perfectly cooked pieces of thick cut bacon with its sweet, sticky coating that was well balanced and not too sweet. Cheese and Gyoza with bell pepper is a combination I didn't know I needed. It was a pairing that was full of flavor and left us saying "OMG, WHAT THE". Great start for the meal. The Club Moco was calling my name, and I'm glad I answered back. Every element of the dish was cooked perfectly. The gravy was full of flavor and made the dish. Everything together was so complimentary and made every bite so enjoyable. My GF ordered the G.I. Fried Rice. The table side presentation was really cool as it came plated on a cast iron plate and the egg that's usually scrambled and mixed in the rice, was poured around the plated rice allowing you to scramble and mix however you like. I only had a couple bites and can say that I would be happy to order that dish as my main course next time. The mix of the rice, more candied bacon, spam and kimchi was full of flavor. I have never heard of this restaurant and am thankful to Yelp for helping me to look up places so easily where I was visiting. The only thing that surprised me is that I thought that place should have been packed. Service was great, ambiance was great, food was great and the NBA finals was on. I imaging this would be a great place to watch World Cup matches. Highly recommended! Go check it out!

Came here for brunch with friends- our party ordered the salmon Benedict, fried chicken, and pumped up ramyun. The salmon Benedict was good though the ramyun was quite salty (as is expected with shin ramen I suppose). Service was courteous. My only complaint was the food took a really long time to come out. Hope to try more dishes here in the future!

Do they have gluten free options?

    Do they offer Small portions?

    Portions are decently large.

Are walk-ins accepted for dinner on weekends? If so, how hard do you think it is to get seating for 5 or 6 people in the early dinner hours, say 6pm on a Saturday?

We are welcome for walk-in. Weekend dinner may take a longer wait. I would recommend you to make a reservation for a big party on the weekend. It would be better. You can make a reservation on the Yelp.…

What gluten-free breakfast or brunch options are enticing?

You think they would let me order breakfast at dinner?

I'm not sure but as they have different menus for brunch and dinner, I wouldn't think so.

Do they require proof of vaccination?

No, but they do ask you to wear your mask until you start eating.

Is bottomless mimosas enjoyable on the weekends with the 60 minute time limit or does it feel too rushed?

Definitely. An hour is generally plenty of time, unless you're looking to drink the restaurant out of business :-)

Is the outdoor patio open on the weekdays for dinner?

There are no outdoor sitting at this restaurant.

Does it allow Dogs at the outside patio?

Sure does. Brought my pooch out there last week...

Do they have bottomless mimosas on the weekends?

Yes they do! But they do enforce a pretty strict 1 hour time window for bottomless mimosas

What Gluten-free options do they have?

Rice bowls with gluten-free sauce upon request, gim-bap, salads, and more

Are dogs allowed on the outside patio?

Yes! Totally dog friendly in the back patio. Tied our pitbull to the bench seating with us. They even brought her a bowl of water.

    Are there outdoor TVs?

    No outdoor TV

Are there dairy and or gluten free brunch options?

    Yes, but limited!

Anyone know what seasoning they use for their eggs and crispy yukon?

    Are walk ins accepted?

Yes! There are only walk-ins on weekends, and both walk-ins/reservations on the weekdays. If you do a walk-in on the weekend though for brunch, it can sometimes be a bit of a wait (~30+ min depending on how big your party is)

    Do they have vegan options?

    Yes!

Anyone know if it's better to go around 10-11am or 12-1pm for brunch? How long is the wait time usually on a Sunday?

It's usually around a 30-40 minute wait around then! :) I would go around 10AM or even earlier to miss the crazy Sunday brunch line.

What other liquor besides beer do you serve? Are there mimosas at brunch on Fridays?

They have a wide variety of cocktails that they serve for dinner including Moscow mules, whisky sours, and margs

Do they serve bottomless mimosas for dinner?

Yes, I just checked. They have bottomless mimosas at dinner for $20 per person for 1.5 hours. Hope this helped!

The staff at the restaurant are all very kind and welcoming. They seem to really care about your experience. The setting is quite unique: you're surrounded by a Korean small market yet outside the doors you're in getaway of a back patio with trees and foliage surrounding you. Quite serene. As for the food, the menu is quite vast, which I am happy about since I will be back to try everything! This was our second visit and during our first trip we were very happy with the three items we ordered, Rosé rice cakes, Dupp bop spicy pork belly, and Jang pasta w/ pork belly. My wife and I loved the duck bop spicy pork belly because it was not just a huge cube of meat, but instead, it was sliced fin to take on a lot of the good sauce. Today I had the lunch special, which left me extremely satisfied. The portion size was large as I'm a rather large eater anyway... The Bulgogi beef was seasoned perfectly over a bit of cabbage or greens, white rice, and the kimchi spicy pork belly soup as you will see in the image was bubbling hot. Superb but watch out if you can't handle the heat as it is a bit spicy. I would say the prices are fair as well. Reservations were not necessary and attire is very casual.

I recommend going on a Sunday so the 90 minute street parking doesn't apply. We were easily able to get a table for four without reservation. But it was inside. Most people were sitting out on the patio. The back patio is such a cute vibe. It's like a lush garden with mature trees and shade and string lights. I wish they had a separate entrance for it though. I saw a couple people walking their dogs through the restaurant to get to the patio. The market actually has a pretty big selection of items! They even have several large refrigerators. I've never seen so many types of ramen outside a 99 Ranch. We ordered the palace rice cakes, beef cold noodles, spicy tofu, both fried chicken appetizers, and the jang pasta, and drinks. They have a nice selection of drinks that I haven't seen commonly offered at other Korean restaurants before like several types of Korean tea. Everything was delicious! My personal favorites were the jang pasta, palace rice cakes, and the cold noodles. The noodles were perfect to help cleanse the palate from the heavier and spicy menu items. Ur was tasty even without the vinegar. They were very generous with the amount of beef in the rice cakes. It was more beef than rice cake! The cost wasn't bad either. For four people it came out to $145 before tip. The only other suggestion I have is they install an air curtain or mesh curtains to help keep flies out. I really enjoyed Korean Superette and want to go back and hopefully get some groceries too!

Now....i just don't know.....Came here with a party of 12 for my sister's birthday at around 2:30pm (we actually picked this time because we thought they wouldn't be too busy to take our large group). Went to check in but wasn't able to check in with that large amount of people (limited 10 on the kiosk). Not sure if he is the manager or on duty supervisor (we are going to called his Mr. M) but he wasn't friendly. Informed him that we had a party of 12 since the kiosk said to let them know if the party was greater than 10. He told me he wasn't able to seat us all together, I'm like it's ok if you separate us. (But he kept insisting we don't take 12, making me feel like he really didn't want our business). I explained to Mr. M, We are ok if you separate us into 2 groups of 6, we don't have to sit with each other. He was like it'll be about 30 minutes or so. That was fine with us, we weren't all there yet. So after discussing with my family we decided to check in on the Yelp kiosks with two parties of 6s. When everyone arrived (we ended having 11 people total), we rechecked in the kiosk with all parties arrived. My bro in law got text later that their table was ready so their party got seat. While I and the rest of the family waited, we noticed a few booths opened in the front of the restaurant (btw there wasn't anyone else waiting, just us 5). We asked, since it's 4 adults and 1 baby if we could sit there with another server and he was more than happy to take care of us. He even asked if we needed a booster chair for the baby. Mr. M stepped in and told the server no he can't seat us and he came up to us and told us we can't sit there cause it's up to 4 people only and told us "I told you that you would have to wait a long time". We were really shocked with his attitude towards us. Since the baby was getting really hungry we told the rest of my family we are just going somewhere else. Apologized to my sister because we couldn't even eat on her birthday together. All I can say now is "wow, really!!!" I've been going here for so many years because I enjoyed the food and their service and now i'm not sure I want to come back". Btw this isn't the first time we came here with a large group. We have been seated multiple times and we have been in the other side of the building when they used it in the past. If my sister reads this: Happy now belated Birthday, jie!!! Hope you enjoy the day and had a nice birthday regardless!

The Korean fried chicken was definitely a favorite. We got the yangnyeom flavor, and the chicken was juicy and tender with a perfectly balanced, flavorful sauce. The fried chicken gizzards were another standout--crispy, savory, and so good with drinks. The rose jjimdak was like a delicious mix of creamy tteokbokki and tender chicken, and it paired especially well with the tuna DIY rice balls. Making the rice balls ourselves was such a fun touch, and they were surprisingly delicious! We also tried the spam kimchi pancake and corn cheese, which were the perfect combination with the makgeolli we ordered. We had such a great time here. Come earlier for a casual dinner, or later at night to really enjoy the lively Korean nightlife and street-food atmosphere. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm craving Korean pocha food and drinks.

Even though it is a pocha, the food all felt very akin to Chinese food, with strong but singular flavours for each dish The fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce tasted like orange chicken. It came with slightly crisp tteok which was nice to break up the overwhelming flavour with that texture difference The squid dish offered a similar experience, with the texture of the crispy noodles distracting from the squid sauce for a limited time The crab and egg soup was a bit disappointing, the crab was the shredded fake crab stick kind, the soup was thick but mix of flavours (heavy on the green and red bell peppers) left a lot to be desired. There's a lot of good Korean food in Oakland, so you won't be stuck for choice around the area

*This review is for Chimmelier and Oh G Burger…read more We were the only ones in the restaurant on a Sunday evening around 6pm; when we approached the register, we were able to order on the kiosk (to the right of the register) or through the cashier. It was an ideal place to take a group because 1) it was fast casual 2) everyone can put in their individual orders without the awk who's-going-to-put-their-card-in issue 3) there were 2 restaurants (Chimmelier + Oh G Burger) in 1 so more options! What I got: 8 pc sweet gochujang wings (sauce was called YANG'YUM') and a side of tots with a cup for water **the wings were from Chimmelier and the tots were from Oh G Burger We were able to combine two tables together to fit our group of 5 and the cashier brought our food over in quick succession. The tots were my fav even tho the wings were supposed to be the star of the show. I liked how they gave me PLENTY of disposable gloves because the sauce is v sticky. Gochujang is a savory, sweet Korean chili paste, but I would say it was more sweet than spicy. I enjoyed my meal but maybe would wanna try a dry rub because putting on gloves every time can be a chore. I went for a yelp elite perk once and grabbed their chicken sando which was tasty.

But i wanted to try the wings as well! I got the 8-pc wing combo with fries and it was very tasty! The wings were big and crispy with a kick! I was only to manage to eat three pieces so I took the rest home! The fries was good but should have tried the other flavors! Overall, the food is flavorful, the place is small but cozy and with really good service! Will try other items next time!

We were greeted and seated right away with the choice of any opened table. The server offered a booster for the baby and we told him it wasn't necessary. We order jajangmyeon, gan jajangmyeon, tangsuyuk, yangjangpi, and jjampong. Still as delicious as I remember. While we were eating my niece (the baby) was giggling and we saw that the server was playing with her. He was attentive and provided us everything we needed...thank you for showing us what really customer service is!!!!

One place people brought up is Yu Yu Za Zang. Yu Yu Za Zang is a Chinese-Korean spot on the Oakland Temescal intersection of Telegraph and 49th. The noteworthy part about the place is its jajangmyun. There are other dishes like tangsuyuk and the not as common kanjangmyun. The good parts of the place? What I remember is the guy serving me being friendly, taking my order and also running the register along with the phone. The place has an old school look, and this is kind of like an Oakland Chinese-Korean version of Shiki's if you southern Bay Area residents remember the place. I can type that this is the best jajangmyun in the East Bay even though I had maybe two others, and I don't remember the prior experiences that well. Some people type that Paik's jajangmyun is better, but for me, while Paik's has the better technique, Yu Yu's is more homey obviously. (Neither can beat this one place in Los Angeles I forgot though.) I also like how the place has the Pororo drinks because I so can't drink soju if I'm doing a solo drive. The value's actually good as well, and I wish I got the tangsuyuk. The flaws of the place? The parking's tricky. The scenario though is that a star's deducted more so because of the basic service. Yu Yu Za Zang's a good place. While it does have it's there service, its food and drinks make up for the bother. Bay Area folks and non-Bay Area folks, go here for some really good jajangmyun! +/Yu Yu Za Zang makes me think internally "Yay, the place is in the zone!" because of the friendly guy being a one man wrecking crew up front and a batch of really good food and drinks overall. -/The basic service turns its opportunity for a perfect score to ash.
