I purchased a Jeep JKU about a year ago from Berkenkotter. Within a week, a U joint failed. About a month later, power steering went out. They let me roll these repairs into my loan, which was cool. But I had no idea how much money I'd eventually have to spend on it. I just replaced the oil manifold a couple of weeks ago, and then my engine finally blew on the way home from work the other day. I literally nee a new engine now. Another $8-$9k on top of my original $15k purchase price. When the first issues appeared, I asked them about getting a different car instea, one that was worth what I was paying for it. They just gave me an option to put the repairs on my loan. Now they'll get a useless car back to auction off and leave me on the hook for the rest. All I wanted was a decent used car. Instead, I got their problem instead. I recently returned to purchase a 3rd vehicle, a work truck and the response has been awful. online the inventory is not updated, sent a message through Facebook and after a day of communication the vehicle was suddenly sold! I call the South Castle Rock location explain what I'm looking for with cash in hand. the sales guy tells me he will look into things..... nothing for a day so I call back. Not sure what has happened over the years. Have had good luck in the past with Berkenkotter. Each vehicle tested or interested in either ended up needing major work or was not working. Called in advance to make sure vehicle was available, and which location it was at. Two times they were going to fix the vehicles we were interested in, and each time it was something major. Were told that either we sign in order to buy, and they will fix, or they would send to auction. Strange....this is not how they operated in the past. After over a month of shopping with them, we gave up. Kept hope that one of these vehicles would turn out. Tried Brighton, Parker and both places in Castle Rock. Being a native of Castle Rock, really wanted to buy from Berkenkotter. The number of vehicles that we looked at was 7. 4 of them ended up needing major work. Of those 4, 2 had bad engines. 3 needed work done by us that affected the driving and would not be taken care of by Berkenkotter. Never have tried so hard to spend money and not get anywhere. The vehicles we looked at ranged from $9,000.00 - $25,000.00. The people working there are very nice and apologize continuously for the cars. Guess they are backed up in repairs and are unable to hire more mechanics. Recommendation.....don't sell cars with problems, or list them for sale on your website. Let your sales reps know that these cars are not working before interested parties wish to look at them. Recommendation for anyone looking to buy from them. Have a back up plan just in case. Just bought a 2010 ford explorer looked clean drove well and I was happy about the purchase, I live in Colorado Springs bought the truck at their Parker location didn't even get home before the check engine light came on, took to my mechanic the next day to have the code checked out turns out a fuel regulator sensor was bad explaining the lack of power, then my mechanic looks over the engine and finds a coolant leak overall it's going to cost me over $1200.00 in repairs for a vehicle I've put less than 80 miles on. I did call the dealership and they said their sorry, so I guess that makes up for everything, all these clowns do is wash the vehicle and spray on enough armour all to choke a horse, beware buying a used car from these guys. read more

I was totally scammed, and the car has had nothing but problems since I drove it off the lot. There was no inspection done within two days. The radiator needed to be replaced, the four-wheel drive axle broke a week later, the newest addition to the list of repairs is the air conditioning air compressor is broken! I've been wanting to get back into a truck and I came across a truck here, 2004 350 SuperDuty with the 6.0 engine. I was very Leary about getting a 6.0 because of the issues they have but was placed with Todd Pineau who was the most helpful, straight forward salesman I have ever worked with who in fact owns his own 6.0 engine diesel and swears by them. The truck was super clean with low miles for a diesel as well. He has been a diesel mechanic for right around 32 years and He took the time to go over the truck with me and also gave me a maintenance packet for this engine specifically. He never put any pressure on my boyfriend and I to buy the truck and never made it feel like that awkward, pressured buying process. Bought a small car in Castle Rock for my daughter. My daughter and her Mother who know very little about cars went into the dealership and we're sold a car that they said was in great shape and no issues. Since we owned the car which is about 3 months it hasn't run right since. They took advantage of two females who didn't know any better. When we try to go to them to get help to fix it they do very little and we're rude. Once they sold the car their attitudes changed and it was no longer their problem. I even spoke with the owner Dan who said they they do sometimes sell bad cars and it depends on whether they like your not if they will help you after the car was purshased. They sold me a lemon and I am currently seeking legal action. This could have been avoided with good customer service and fixing a car that was bad before they sold it. They are dishonest and give the small car dealerships the reputation of being sleezy used car sales man. do not purchase a car here without getting a separate inspection and you're much better off just going to a bigger more reputable dealership. After being sold a Truck with a loose hub (two bolts were missing and the other two were not completely in) and being told that all my taxes were paid. I get told that legally they can not collect all the taxes and that they wish they knew the hub was loose so they could have helped. First of all the one condition I had was that all taxes be paid. The salesman told me they could do that. The Dmv said that they could they just had to send a check with the tax money with the title information. I also wish I knew about the hub so that I didn't unknowingly put my kids in danger. I could have easily put that vehicle in 4-wheel drive and lost that hub. they say I didn't call. I called asking for the safety inspection report they told me that I couldn't have it. Then they tell me on a review that if they knew they would have helped. Well now you know what will you do to help? I am 100% disabled veteran who still works because I have kids to feed. I had to spend my last dime to get this truck so that I could keep working. The salesman was also a vet. He told me I could trust him because he inspected the truck himself. He used our commonalities to get the sale. It worked Thank you berkenkotter motors. We set out looking at campers at all the retails stores in the Front Range, the internet including Craig's list, RV-Trader and newspaper listings. We were on a limited budget when you factor all the hidden costs (storage) of owning a RV we had a dollar figure in mind and were ridged. We found ours at Berkenkotter who was excellent in every way from letting us crawl through their selection un-monitored and unhindered. Just purchased a 65' Mustang from one of the Castle Rock locations and WOW the experience was amazing. I have purchased a lot of cars in my lifetime and by far this has been the best experience. I mainly spoke with Steve during the transaction but Dan B. went on a drive with me because he knew the previous owner and was able to explain features and updates that the previous owner completed prior to selling the vehicle. Buying an older vehicle such as this one I knew there were going to be a few parts to repair so I had the Berkenkotter Service Department go through the vehicle and that has also been a great experience. They are extremely thorough and as I stop up there often to see the progress they are very accommodating. I am having them do extra items to the Mustang to get her ready for the warmer months. I went into Berkenkotter looking for a reliable truck that I could use for work and to take the family up in the mountains. I purchased a 9 y/o 2004 Ford F250 King Ranch with a 6.0L engine. It had a few problems but they assured me that the problems were normal for a truck of that mileage and age. Took it over and had a mechanic look at it and all seemed fine. Until I found a good diesel repair shop and spent nearly $10,000 on it I had nothing but problems with the truck. The engine started overheating three months after I bought it and so the oil cooler had to be replaced. When the mechanic got everything off he noticed that the oil cooler had been replaced before and a screen had been removed from the inflow side of the oil pump. When he put everything back together with the new cooler he put the proper screen in. On the way home the truck overheated again. It went back in the shop and the mechanic found that an oil filter had come apart at some point in the truck's history and all the filter element was scattered throughout the engine (a big deal in a 6.0L). This was stopping up the small channels in the oil cooler and causing the flow to stop due to the newly-replaced screen. It also interfered with the fuel injectors. It took two weeks and a nearly complete strip-down of the engine to remove all of the filter element (the alternative would have been to sell it and do what Berkenkotter did and I'm too moral of a person to do that). This problem was undeniably one Berkenkotter knew about. The work they had to do on it to make it comply with the emissions test (after it failed once) would have revealed the problem to them (according to Douglas County Diesel--a great business), so there is no escaping the fact that they knew. They knew that this $6500 problem was present and that it would cause serious issues with the truck. They also knew I purchased the truck to take my wife and twin 2 y/o daughters into the mountains. They placed my family in danger of being stranded in the mountains. Multiple attempts to contact them resulted in ZERO response. Don't do business with these folks. Their reputation is not worth driving. read more

After having purchased my car I immediately noticed considerable problems. I won't get into all of it but after having brought it to their garage for a vehicle inspection they told me nothing was wrong with my car even after I had addressed the problems. I had brought my car in maybe a week later for my pre-lift inspection and was told the problems I was having and they then told me what was causing it (all of which took maybe 20 minutes when I had left it at berkenkotters shop for a day.) Brought it back to the garage for some other light work and then addressed the list, one of which did fall under the warranty that the previous inspection should have noticed not to mention the list of other problems I was having, regardless of the fact they didn't fall under the warranty the problems were there and they failed to even address it. So I don't know if they should hire some more reputable mechanics or perhaps they are just lying to their customers, I would take your vehicle for a third party inspection and then give them the invoice. What can make a bad week worse? Your truck breaking down. We had a family emergency; a family member in the hospital, and our truck broke down. Not only broke down, but it was going to cost to much to fix. I live in Parker and had driven by the Parker location over and over. So, in the middle of dealing with other issues, I did find time to stop in and look at the inventory. At first I was impressed. Michael Palermo met me and asked if I needed help. I explained that I just wanted to look at first, and so he let me do that. I liked that; no pressure. Once I was ready to talk to someone I went into the office and sat for a good bit of time with only one salesperson talking to another customer; Michael was no where to be found. I realized I needed to get back to dealing with other things and started to leave. At that point Michael did show up and asked if I had any questions. I found him to be very polite and professional. I asked him about one truck, and he shared with me some information about it, and then asked if I had taken a look at a Ford F150 King Ranch in that same price range. He showed it to me, and I explained I had to go, but would be back the next day to test drive. I returned the next day and did do a test drive. During the test drive I did not observe anything that was a blaring warning sign. I returned to the dealership and actually worked with mike to purchase the truck. (no financing, but straight purchase it). Michael and those at the office made me feel as if I was buying a truck from a friend. When buying a used vehicle I understand that things could go wrong, but was not expecting them to go wrong within the first 50 miles. I returned the next day to talk with Michael who directed me to a mechanic's shop. There were several things wrong that needed to be fixed. Needless to say I was not to happy, but was able to speak with Michael. He stated he would make some phone calls and call me back. He did this quickly, and was able to work out a solution to getting my truck back on the road. I am looking forward to getting back on the road. read more

Just made a 3 hr one way trip to look at a car that I called on in the morning. Response was "come on up and lets see what we can do". Drove all the way there to find out it was sold just before we got there. Barely got an " I'm sorry". I basically took a whole day out of my time for nothing plus the expense of the drive there. The guy I spoke with knew we were coming from a long distance and didn't have the courtesy to save the car till we got there.Nothing was said to me about maybe somebody was already coming to look at it. Have dealt with Castle Rock and Parker before and got along fine. Safe to say I will never step foot on the place at Brighton again. A little courtesy goes along way in my book. I guess that's what I get for living out on the eastern plains and trying to make a living at helping to feed the rest of the population. read more
