Great food, awesome ambiance and outstanding service. Bernini never disappoints always a favorite!

My wife and I are regulars at Bernini. We love their Happy Hour; it has in my view, the best value in Ybor City! The food, attention, and service are exceptional. They are consistently good, no matter what time of the day you visit. Bernini is in the must list of restaurants to bring family and friends from out of town. The menu is simple, not over crowded with choices, yet the variety covers all eating habits, including Vegetarian. I guess by now we have tried almost everything on their menu but there are some choices worth highlighting. Appetizers: Calamari is always fresh, crispy and tender. The sausage appetizer is also great! Love the sauce! Salads: We loved the Anti-Pasta salad they use to have. It was a plate perfect for sharing! Bring it back! The Burrata Cheese Caprese salad is also one of our favorites! Mains: My personal favorite is the Osso Bucco! Huge portion of tender pork shanks in a delicious sauce. Even I cant finish it! My second favorite is the Crispy Duck although the Shrimp Rissotto is not far behind! Did I mentioned the pizzas? They are all great! Crispy crust and amazing sauce! It's has been many years since my last visit but with guests in town and their happy hour specials on food and martini's, it was hard to resist. Half price entrees and $3 martini specials from 4-7pm. The food ranges from good to excellent, the place has lost some lustre over the years but the experience is hard to beat at the discount price. The Shrimp w/ Pasta and Duck are a couple of my favorites. The desserts were ok. The afternoon crowd is bar heavy and much more laid back than dinner. The meals are full servings during happy hour and you can dine inside, outside or at the bar. Service is moderate, even when not busy, you might experience lengthy waits between server visits to the table. An empty water glass is not unusual. All in all, definitely worth a visit. read more

1/2 price entrees daily 4-7pm! The menu is expansive, lots of apps and a great selection of pizzas. We ordered shrimp orchiette, crispy duck, tortellini carbonara, baked oysters, and the pound cake with almond ricotta whip cream-delish! I would definitely order the orchetti again, the alfredo sauce was delicious even though I didnt taste any truffle like the menu stated. The calamari was solid and came with 3 sauces, the marinara was a bit salty for my taste. I was so surprised at the sweetened ice tea, it was perfectly not too sweet or bitter. I've been on a sweet tea kick lately ordering it every place I go. We came on Gasparilla night and they were able to seat us right away! We did have to ask for the complimentary bread and butter and service was a little spotty understandable as it was a super busy night. read more

Food is amazing. Ordered the 17th St salad, veal lasagna and fettuccine bolognese. Fresh baked focaccia and garlic butter was served as well. Our server was great too. Loved the paintings on the walls too. Sadly, the staff was short handed but the manager in his tight shirt did not help the server out except slice bread. Come here for the food and service. We were here a couple of weeks back. Our service was good, and we also really liked the building/atmosphere. Our Caesar salad and my pasta entree were both great. We also had some good drinks. My buddy also enjoyed his mussel dish to be fair. The grouper that my gal ordered on the other hand was criminally bad (I'm not one to whine about dishes). The fish was clearly not even near being fresh (color & flavor). Besides that the glaze on it just tasted like maple syrup (syrup on grouper, really?), just bad. Hands down the worst service I've ever experienced. We sat outside and the waitress was dismissive, rude, and clearly had no interest in doing her job. She rolled her eyes at us, slammed drinks on the table, and acted like we were a burden just for ordering. Completely ruined the meal. If management allows someone this unprofessional to represent them, says a lot about the standards of this place. I wont be back, and I'll be warning everyone I know. The food was amazing. The servings are big. My friend got the pork osso bucco was delicious. My other friend got the chicken Parmesan over spaghetti and it was also delicious. As an appetizer, I got the bacon wrapped shrimp and again it was delicious. I and another hot pizza. They are a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Great waiters and ambience. read more

Had a really wonderful experience here. Came with a large group (around 20) to celebrate the end of our Level 1 Italian lessons at the Italian American club across the street. The staff was incredibly accommodating to our party, rearranging tables, dividing checks, and making sure our orders were in by 7pm so we'd get the happy hour pricing. I got the gnocchi which was pillowy soft but the dish was a touch cold when served, I suspect because several of our party ordered meat dishes that would have taken longer to prepare. We arrived at Bernini's on Saturday night for a late night dinner and we were seated immediately. Shortly after being seated, the owner, Jason stopped by our table to welcome us and our waiter immediately took our appetizer and drink order. The service throughout the evening was great. We ordered the Grouper, Blackened Salmon and the Shrimp & Crab Diablo. Everything was delicious. At the end of our meal, Jason sat down with us to chat and we enjoyed yummy cappuccinos. Afterwards, Johan walked us out and waited with us until our Uber arrived. He literally stopped traffic to ensure we could safely reach our Uber. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, a friendlier staff or better cuisine. We will return! read more

A less than stellar experience. I was dining alone. I was seated near a window against the wall, opposite the bar. It wasn't too crowded but it turned out to be a heavy traffic area. My server, Ian seemed to be more concerned with the traffic coming and going than with my table. He actually clumsily spilled food on me. The food was very surprisingly underwhelming. I had the eggplant rollatini appetizer, my favorite. The marinara was really bland. I also had a pizza. It had really mushy artichokes. I would've thought they would've gotten a little less mushy in the pizza oven. Anyways, you get the idea. I didn't finish my pizza. I just left. I guess everyone has an off night. Hopefully next time will be more like the Bernini that I've enjoyed so much over the years. read more

Food comes out quickly and delicious -- Done to perfection -- pastas and pizzas are my absolute favorites. Service is always friendly and professional. Bernini's will take a (15+) large party at the last minute! I started with a party of 4 and an hour before my reservation was able to create a new reservation and accommodate almost 12 additional people. I will say, it mattered that I was there prior to peak hours -- Bernini's happy hour (4-7pm) may be the best one in the county and can be s super calm ambiance right at 4pm, but will become more bustle as 6pm approaches. Even as more people arrived, the chefs still maintained the standard with fast and gourmet plates! Food is freshly made to order, so nothing comes out cold... except for maybe the butter to your bread. Also, never hurts that they have $3 martinis from 11:30am until 7pm... overall, this is my kind of place. read more

This place belongs on kitchen nightmares. The drinks were weak. I think they just waved the bottle of alcohol over the glass. My steak was not cooked the way I wanted it. My potatoes were cold. The only thing nicest thing I can say about it is the watier was good. read more

Good service, terrible food. The staff is nice, friendly, prompt and drinks are fast... But that's really where any and all compliments stop. Happy hour drinks are cheap, but they are either full of sugar or olive brine... Really unenjoyable for my personal taste. The food was definitely the worst part of the experience. I ordered the Gilroy pizza, and it came out in a timely manor, but I would have gladly paid $5 more to wait another 5 minutes for fresh ingredients. Definitely the most bland pizza I have ever had. The crust was unevenly cooked and rubbery in some places, the tomatoes looked to have just been tossed on the pizza as an afterthought , and the chicken was definitely left over from at least the night before as it was dry, jerky like, and as lifeless as the pizza. Though my server was great and attentive, the food here is not worth me returning. read more

Craving Italian???? Bernini in Ybor is the place for you !!!! Darion our waiter was impressive . He shared with us his knowledge of the building and the city . He welcomed us with their $3 martinis and fresh bread . Cocktails were cold and mixed to perfection . We ordered the calamari that came with homemade marinara sauce and a smear of remoulade and lemon aioli . It was crisp outside and tender inside . Delish!!!!! The shrimp orecchiette was amazing , shrimp was tender and it accompanied roasted grape tomatoes and spinach . Penne Sicilia was packed with veal meatballs , plump spicy bits of sausage smothered in red sauce and fluffy ricotta on top . We finished with crème brûlée and super chocolatey cake both made in house . Ambiance upstairs was more private and quiet . First level was a little loud . So when you book your reservation ask to sit upstairs . Another tip - happy our is from 4-7 so get there early for the $3 martinis and half off selected pasta dishes . My first experience ordering take out via yelp. No extra fees for ordering online. Quick & easy selection, everything is clearly described just like a physical menu. Quick & easy pick up at the restaurant, very friendly staff & my order was ready on time for lunch. I really appreciate the aluminum containers; the food can be directly put in the oven instead of microwaving and instead of me using my own oven safe dishes that I would have to wash later. Fried Calamari: The tentacles are crispier than the rings, so I wish the rings were a touch more crispy. It comes with 3 sauces. I'm not a sauce person so I ate it plain and enjoyed it. The seasoning on the breading is a simple, classic flavor, with salt & pepper. Duck Risotto: This is the reason I ordered from Bernini. The risotto is creamy and cooked perfectly. It is sweet because of the cranberries and balanced with sweet potato. It has thick cut pieces of duck. I was worried that I wouldn't like the cranberries or maple duck. The sweet flavor is strange at first, but it is ultimately tasty and I'm glad they offer something so different than basic risotto. Tiramisu: I wish the espresso flavor was stronger. As a regular cake, I would love this because the cream and soaked cookies (cake) were good. However, with tiramisu I'm used to an obvious coffee/espresso flavor that is as the main focus. The espresso in this cake was very subtle and the cream was the main flavor that you focus on. read more

Food has been consistently good and priced well when you go during happy hour, which extends through the weekend. The inside is attractive but can be loud and the outside has the sights, sounds, and smells of the street (good and bad) so we pick inside/outside just based on the weather. Service this last time was better than normal but can be on the slow side so recommend ordering an extra $3 HH martini when you get the chance and just enjoying the moment. read more

This is my second visit and first review. On my initial visit a friend and I shared a pizza and caprese salad and they were just okay. The bartender was friendly and I had heard good things so I figured I would try this place again. Some friends flew into town and I invited them here. Ybor is a great place to explore. From 4-7 Stoli Martinis and Entrees/Pasta dishes are half off so we were all excited. I ordered the Salmon, my friends Beef Ragu and Carbonara. The Salmon was pretty good with a crispy blackened top and served on a bed of vegetables. The vegatables were very saucy ( not hot) and the dish was just missing something. Risotto or rice or wilted spinach. Something. I tried the Ragu and it was also average. I didnt like the sauce and it wasnt very warm. The Carbonara was hot and I liked the bite I had. Overall the other meals were not hot enough, my friends did not take their leftovers and I was disappointed. We all agreed it was just okay. If the Salmon had been full price $26.00 I would have sent it back. On a positive note. $3.00 Martinis were great and they have a variety and the bread they served is spiced with rosemary and red pepper flakes. Ordered: Tortellini Carbonara and Shrimp Florentine Risotto The restaurant closes at 10 pm we arrived at 9:30 pm. Coming in from the bustle of 7th street, I was taken back by the charm and romantic feel presented. If you look closely the walls are themselves a work of art. We were promptly seated and our waitress Sheri took our drink order and brought bread. Throughout the meal she was amazing never once did I feel as If I needed to rush. Note! Take one bite of the bread and leave it alone! Don't get full on it trust me, you need to leave space for your meal. Considering it was already late we were quickly served. The food I tell you was amazingly delicious. I could taste the fresh flavors in every bite especially the shrimp. The risotto was well done, it had a creamy consistency, not dry instead thick and chewable. Lovveed the house-made Italian sausage in the tortellini carbonara, defiantly worth trying. Point to note Although no one sat next to us, the tables are extremely close. This was a great birthday dinner in Tampa, I can't wait to return. 4.5 STAR I declined to give a 5 star as there was some miscommunication in the kitchen and the incorrect order was brought to our table by a different waitress. Surprised to get same day reservation. The website description made it sound amazing. Pastas, entree's and some drinks were half price and I'm really glad because had I paid full price I would have been angry. The pasta had gristly meat and the fish was barely existent with cold potatoes and veggies. Would not recommend. We asked for a table upstairs because it was so loud downstairs and it felt like sitting on an airplane - rumbling vibrations throughout the meal. read more
