Beso was a favorite of my parents and I always wanted to go. Well, I finally did, and I have to say, it was amazing. From the our server to the food to the ambiance. Started with a pitcher of their famous Beso Sangria made with Tequila. It was the best Sangria I've ever had. We started with a mixed platter. Which had baby lamb chops, cooked to perfection, garlicky shrimp, which were succulent, scallops so tender, calamari perfectly cooked with a rosemary vinaigrette and a small salad in the center of the plate. Simply amazing. Then we had a Paella with chorizo, chicken and shrimp. There was so much we couldn't finish. It was seasoned just right, so tasty. We ended with a Mexican chocolate martini and an amazing Cuban bread pudding, recommended by our server and made in house. Perfection. I can't wait to go back. I've been a regular at Beso since first moving to Staten Island and since they were in their old location. The tapas menu is always good to share (the cazuela de chorizo and the ceviche are specially good) and the sangria is always tasty. Came here yesterday for our wedding anniversary. We had gone to the old location and enjoyed it, but we thought it was too hectic with it being small and popular. They did a great job with the new location--spacious, stylish. They even have a cool vending area where you can buy takeaways like dessert. The food and drinks are good and $89 for 6 tapas and dessert is a solid value. If you haven't been to the new location, I definitely recommend checking it out. read more

Had a great time here but they overcharged our credit card so I don't think I'll be coming back. The total was supposed to be $80 + $15 tip = $95 post tax and tip. Tell me why I see a charge for over $175 posted to my card? They added the pre-tip total $80 to the entire post-tip total ($95) instead of just adding the $15 tip. That would be a $95 tip!! Then we call to get this fixed and were put on hold for over 17 minutes (aka they forgot about us). Then we hang up and call back, to which they say a manager will call back later. The manager acknowledged the mistake but we had to wait until today for them to call the bank, get our credit card number, etc to refund the $80 difference. This could have been done last night. Charging the correct amount is such a basic requirement. I eat out frequently and this has never happened to me before. If you eat here, please PLEASE double check your credit card statement after the charge has posted. So sneaky. read more

Very beautiful place. Food was good,alittle pricey, but worth it. We came here to have happy hour at the bar,but the bar was very small compared to the rest of the restaurant. The bar was full and crowded from the lack of seats by the time we arrived at 4pm, and had to sit at a regular table without the happy hour options. The waitresses were alittle awkward to talk to. Nice, but reserved. I don't recall the waitress ever telling us her name. The service was alittle slow. We were in the back of the restaurant with no other guests for the majority of the time. Came into Beso with high expectations and it definitely did not disappoint... Made reservations for a Saturday evening two days out ( highly recommended) and it's smaller inside than you would expect. Not a big concern, because the tables are spaced nicely apart. Being that it was my first time at a Tapas style restaurant went mostly with suggestions from our server Jen. After a pitcher of white pomegranate sangria the first two of four tapas and lighter portions came out. Tierra Y mar for 2 and Ajillo. First one is grilled with baby lamb chops, shrimp, calamari and scallops( so good). Ajillo is garlic shrimp with a nice little spicy sauce. And we were off to a very good. Next round was a little heavier. But with good spacing thankfully. Lobster enchiladas in a creamier sauce along with beef empanadas. We never felt rushed even though this place was hopping. I want to share my experience at this establishment, not only is the ambiance super cute but the service is phenomenal! Kudos to our waiter Christian! My family and I decided to take the Staten Island Ferry and enjoy the day out, once we got to Staten Island my dad asked to check for some local restaurants, I googled a few and once I saw Beso, my dad asked to see the menu, well of course he was intrigued, we found out it was a 7 minute walk from the station and we went on our way. As soon as we opened the door, we heard Salsa music and the staff was very welcoming. We were a party of 6 and got seated right away. We were outdoors in a cute patio section. (They are expanding!) We ordered some scallops as an appetizer, they also served fresh baked bread with olive oil. We ordered drinks, which included a mojito, margaritas, and beer. Our dishes were the Seafood paella, a Lobster enchilada, and the Tierra y Mar (land and sea), got the wings and Mac and cheese for my son. Needless to say EVERYTHING was perfect, great taste, beautiful presentation, and nice portions. I would definitely recommend to anyone who decides to visit or want to explore. I will be coming back!! We were luck that we got table right away. This restaurant never disappoints! The food is delicious and the service was excellent. Our server was Laura and she was so sweet and attentive! It was our first time visiting the new location and although it's not intimate like the other location, it has a great vibe. Our favorite drink is the sangria martini with cinnamon sugar around the rim, and their red sangria is also delicious. Then for our favorite starters, the lollipop lamb chops that are marinated and so delicious, queso frito which is fried goat cheese, guacamole and chips which is like none you ever had before and chicken quesadilla which is one of the best I've ever tasted. Then we split 2 delicious entrees, the beef cubano which is a marinated skirt steak and the pork osso booco that literally fell off the bone and was def the best I ever tasted. Service was excellent - from the hostess's accommodating my lack of a reservation through the server who was full of suggestions, supremely attentive, and enriched the experience. Was shopping In the area to checkout the new empire outlets and decided to come here to enjoy an early dinner. This place is such a cute little gem. We arrived around 4pm so it was nice and early, it does get busy so if you want to come later I suggest calling for reservations. Online reservations is not available. Service was very friendly. We ordered a bunch of tapas and sipped on some sangria and modelo. We had a great time. I noticed the place getting packed. Didn't feel rushed. Wait? No Spanish tortillas ?!! We stopped by Beso on a random trip to Staten Island, as my friend had never visited the "forgotten" borough, and Beso is one of the closest restaurants to the SI ferry. The layout and design of the restaurant are really nice and give off an intimate vibe. We visited on a Sunday night and the restaurant was not crowded at all. Ok on to the food. I found the food to be ok/mediocre; there was not anything that would make me want to travel an insane distance to visit the restaurant, aside from the extensive drink menu. If you like random "martini" cocktails, then this place is for you. What is a blue coconut martini?!!On paper (or the menu "book"), the tapas look very interesting and delicious, but the execution falls a little short somewhere. That said, the plating of the tapas was quite nice. Our assortment of tapas: 1. The bread for the Pan y puerco dish was way too soggy as if the dish was premade, left out for a bit and reheated in a microwave. The concept/idea behind the dish seemed very appetizing. The dish was not THAT bad; I just was expecting something a little better for the type of establishment. 2. The beef empanadas were good but they were a little cold. 3. The lamb, scallops, calamari, and shrimp dish was pretty good. I will say that the lamb chops were perfect for me with the preparation and the amount of seasoning. I would have been fine with ordering two orders of that tapa. Although the food was a tad mediocre, you do get ample portions with the tapas for the price, so I cannot complain about that. Beso The dining area is a little too dark. So much so that we needed the light from our phones in order to read the menus. The bread served before the meal is delicious and comes with an oil, olive and garlic sauce on the side. Delicious but be careful because the olives have pits. Appetizer: My shredded chicken wraps were awesome. I've tried them everywhere from Miami to NYC and I must say that these were the best. The chicken was tasteful, very juicy and well seasoned. There was just the right amount of cheese without overwhelming the dish (that takes talent). My entree: Was Chicken fajitas with flour tortillas, rice, sour cream and guacamole. I must say that it was also delicious and well seasoned. Everything had that fresh, home made taste to it. Dessert: 2 churros and pumpkin ice cream. The mixture of textures and flavors were a delightful treat. The restrooms are clean though small. The waiters were very attentive, filling our water glasses as soon as they were empty. Beso is now on Bay Street, it's bigger and much fancier, than the original place a few blocks away ( sorry forgot the name) however the original tinier place, the food was better. The place is beautiful , very exotic looking, decor is a 5+. I took my daughter for her birthday, a group of 6. The food was not good. White rice was bland and mushy. Beans not tasty at all. I ordered the chicken breast in a mushroom sauce over linguini. It was plated beautifully but the taste was not good. The place is expensive so the food should be great. My mom and I hosted my bridal shower at Beso on 5/21 and it was even more spectacular than I could have hoped for! The room was beautiful and set up just how I asked. We were able to customize the menu for the party and choose from several different options, including brunch items. Everyone raved about the food and the drinks! The service was exceptional as well. Isis, the event coordinator, was fabulous to work with. She made the whole process easy and straightforward from the start. I was pretty excited to visit the new location after patronizing the old place for years. The experience started off very nicely. The place is larger and nicely decorated. When we entered we intended to sit at the bar. It was a little chilly so we decided to go into the dining room. The woman who showed us to our table showed genuine concern for our comfort. We had ordered a pitcher of red sangria which was promptly delivered to our table. This is when the service started to go downhill. Our waiter didn't return to take our order for 25 minutes. He took our order but seemed to be concerned whether we would be ordering more food after our original order. I told him we would probably order dessert but we weren't sure. Our food came out a reasonable amount of time after the order and the waiter noticed that out table was wobbly so he said he would return to balance it. Although we saw him attending to nearby tables, he never returned to us. Finally when the original woman who brought us to the table, she asked if we wanted dessert. I told her we had decided against dessert because we were disappointed with the service. She said the waiter had just gone home (45 minutes after he last attended to us). She apologized and asked if she "could get us anything ". I told her we didn't want anything but wanted to make sure the manager was informed. When she returned with our check she told us she had informed the manager. We never saw the manager at our table. The food by the way, was delicious. The sangria was very good too. Beso is always a great time and a treat. I used to go all the time to the old location, but I recently went to the new location and it's absolutely beautiful. The restaurant has a very nice ambience to it and more room in the old restaurant, their food taste exactly the same and it's great quality. I always get the red mango sangria and a few appetizers to share with friends and family, I also went for lunch. Another time to get something off lunch menu. Last Friday after watching Brazil advance their World Cup group my fiancé and i went down to Beso after a recommendation from a family friend. Once we got there we were a bit timid at first, but once we sat down at the bar Vinny and John were very attentive to us. My fiancé and I had all together 2 Caipirinhas (perfect to, reminds me of Brasil!) and my fiancé had a Margarita. Perfect drinks to the perfect night. Came here with my Dad for my birthday. I was here once before during the holidays and it was hard to find a spot but not this time, we scored a spot right in front. When we arrived their was just a few tables being served, so we were seated immediately which is great. The space is beautiful it has a very old world spanish feel, you felt that more when sitting in the dining room. I ordered red sangria which was so good very fruity and not to strong. We ordered from the tapas menu. You def pay for what you get, the plates are large portions and delicious. We started with the guac and chips. The guac has tomato in it and is not spicy. The chips are homemade and seasoned. I tried some new dishes the sashimi de tun was a real stand out very refreshing with thin slices of rare tuna seasoned perfectly with sundried tomato and splashed with lemon. i think the balance of the dish was spot on and their was just so much! I ordered again relleno de gambas because it was so good the first time. We tried the lobster and chorizo enchilada. The order came with 2. The flavor was good very creamy and cheesy although a little salty from the chorizo. The dish was good but i think I would go with something else the next time. I was disappointed with my brunch experience this weekend. The pancake at the bottom of my pile was very burnt. I don't understand how a cook feels okay sending that out to a patron.
