Just left the store after some untrained person in the back I think his name was Albert or some A name?... Anyways was looking at some laser printers and then also made a comment about HP and their shenanigans with the cartridges and saw that they had new tank options... When I said, I wonder if they are going to do the same thing with the tank by limiting the number of prints you make even though you have enough ink left like they did in the cartridges, he said you're wrong... He said that a couple times... And then when my husband came up and mentioned something about HP, he decided he was going to say you're wrong again... he literally must have wanted a fight from all day. I don't know... Tried again, on hold for a while... It was already a fairly busy morning but employee Shawn went out of his way to get me through the process as quickly as possible. The laptop I wanted wasn't available in Palm Desert, so I ended up driving the extra 10 miles to La Quinta. It was shortly after opening, so I must have been one of two customers in the store. A young man approached me and asked if he could assist me. After telling him what I came for, we picked it up, at the same time getting a pair of earbuds. Not bad so far, but when we got to the check out, he said he would not even could this as a sale, at which time I asked him why. He responded by saying the laptop I picked out was crap and that's why it doesn't count. I've worked retail for a number of years and actually manage several locations currently. I would NEVER tell a guest of my store that they are buying crap. If this is the best that BestBuy can do in hiring people, they clearly aren't looking in the right places. I went here today to get a 2 TB hard drive for my PS 5. I went to the PS section. I waited a bit to see if someone was around. There was no one around so I went to the front of the store to talk to the front door greeter. I asked if I could get help at the PS station. She said she'd send someone. So I went back and waited a while. No one came by. That's when I noticed a QR code on the price tag to check availability of product. I scanned QR code and it brought me to the best buy site where I could request a worker at the store to take it to the front. I requested it. Waited a bit, then asked the customer service person if I was understanding the QR code right. She said yes. So I said okay I'll just wait. And I waited again more. By then i had enough so I decided to leave, something so simple should not take that long. I understand we all get busy. Last summer, I was referred to Geek Squad by Apple Support to service my iPhone problem. Due to COVID restrictions at the time, the agent said that Geek Squad could service my product much faster since the Apple store in El Paseo village was temporarily closed. Biggest Mistake I made I scheduled the appointment with Geek Squad over the phone, which was simple, but when I arrived for the appointment, the agents were visibly upset that I arrived 5 mins late and said that if their upcoming appointments arrived, they would be prioritized over mine. Meaning, you guys are going to rush thru my issue so you have time for your other appointments. I waited for 5 days to get this appointment. My iPhone was submerged in 4 feet of water for about a minute, and due to advice from Apple Support technician, my phone was now stuck in a "boot-loop" that occurred at random. Geek Squad opened up my device, ran several diagnostics, and noted some internal damage. The rep Hugo and another person, said that I would be walking out with a new or refurbished unit. . .they even went to the back and pulled out the iPhone replacement unit and laid it on the counter. However. When the agent scanned the replacement unit, they told me that Apple randomly selects units to be serviced in their Cupertino headquarters and needed to send my unit out. This lead to ANOTHER week of a wait. RESOLUTION I pick up my phone the following week, and instead of a replacement unit, the agent said that Apple found no significant issues with my device and gave me back the SAME device. The agent didn't care, he just wanted me to sign paperwork. My issue was STILL not fixed because several months later, my phone was out of warranty and still incurred the boot-loop issue at random. Geek Squad opened up my device, found visible issues and were about to give me a replacement phone, yet Apple says otherwise. What kind of poor communication is this? DO NOT use Geek Squad to service your Apple products. This was a complete 2 week waste of my time. Even if you are referred to them as an "Apple Authorized" service provider, stay away. When I was waiting in line at the Apple store, I saw several customers in line holding Geek-Squad invoice paperwork, meaning that their issues could not be resolved by Geek Squad either. The customer service is nonexistent. There's a National helpline but you literally cannot call a store. "They don't take incoming calls but we'll tell them to call you." Uh huh. I left 6 messages. I was also patronized, put on hold for over an hour at a time, and hung up on by the operators. The people in the store are inept. We had a tech come to our house and measure for a new refrigerator and a built in microwave. The fridge arrived. It didn't fit. They wouldn't take it back because the delivery guys are not "affiliated with Best Buy" -- they don't even have Best Buy's phone number and of course we couldn't call the store. We had to hire a carpenter to cut into the cupboards to get the fridge in. The microwave was delivered. It was a countertop model. Not a built in. Regardless, the delivery guy/installer tried to make t look like a built in by saying "oh, we'll just saw into your shelves here and here" while drawing on them with a sharpie. WTH? Of course we couldn't return the microwave so we had to call the carpenter again. read more

i have been paying for the best buy's geek squad total "protection" plan for several years! took my laptop in for minor service. i recall that i was told at the geek squad counter and by a customer rep (at the laptop area) that the plan will cover all our electronics. all our electronics (including laptops, x-box, etc.) was purchased at the la quinta location. so, when i brought in my laptop. they stated that it's not covered, that the "serial #" doesn't match what is on file. which is bs. they said i would have to pay for the service. Geek Squad are a bunch of idiots... and then some. i am not going to pay for a service that is supposedly covered by that total "protection" plan. it's about $200/yr. i was pissed off with all that bs. i will no longer shop at best buy. i am cancelling that bs total "protection" plan and all best buy accounts. not only that, that geek squad attended to a person that came in after us. wow! I returned that flash drive since my laptop wasn't going to be covered. got my refund and left. none of the customer reps did not care that i left pissed off. After 3 days of trying to get basic help, I'm now done, and never received any. Needed service on an external hard drive - It had stopped showing up on my computer and I needed recovery of the information - very basic procedure. Couldn't set up a Geek Squad appointment online. Called the number that was provided to make a reservation. After holding for 50 minutes, the system hung up on me. "Goodbye". Called again - 1 hour on hold, then told it was the wrong number, and I'll transfer you - On hold for an hour before I hung up. Next time, the Staffer said they couldn't set up an appointment, and I'd have to go into a store - He couldn't tell me which stores have a Geek Squad service desk. Called the store to see if the La Quinta store had one. Phone rang for 1 hour with no pick up - I went to the store while it was still ringing. At the store, I was told no one answered the phone because the sales people were on the floor. There were about 15 associates in the store, and 3 customers - crickets... A Geek Squad associate said he had something he could plug it into to find out is the info was recoverable. Unfortunately I had to go back to get the drive. Came back today at 11 with the drives, as directed, because the scheduled appointments start at 12. The manager in charge said they couldn't look at the hard drive - that I "would have to take it apart myself" to find the heart of the appliance. Then they could test it. He refused to give me any information on how to do this, as he didn't want to be liable for loosing information. He finally looked at the drive itself, and said they couldn't do anything. 3 phone calls - 3 hours Called the store with no answer - 50 minutes Visited the store twice - 1 hour. read more

On 5/11/20, i walked into Best Buy and wanted to return a laptop that I had purchased. I advised Carla that I have completed a factory reset to clear all of my private information off of the laptop. Unfortunately as I was trying to show them that my laptop has been completely set back to factory, my laptop powers off due to a low battery. Carla advised me that in order for me to return the laptop, they need to confirm that the laptop has been reset to factory. They wouldn't allow me to charge my laptop or give them my charger and charge it in the back to verify a factory reset. I asked to speak to a manager and Chris with the Geek Squad advised me that the solution is to go back home, charge my battery and come back. I didn't appreciate his demeanor and tonality. They denied my return and asked me to come back once the battery is charged and they can confirm before accepting my return. I was also there to pick up my purchase for a new pair of Apple Pro Headphones. I was very disappointed with my service so I returned my purchase at that time. I looked at the front of the store to see if they have posted that all laptop returns need to be adequately charged and have been reset to factory upon return. No signs giving customers this fare warning as apart of the return process. No sign on the back of the sales receipt, in front of the store or on their company website. I understand that we are currently in a pandemic of covid 19. I am thankful that Best Buy is able to remain open for curbside pick and are able to accept returns. It is very unfortunate and in-convent to not accept my laptop. What if I was returning a desktop computer? Desktops don't have a portable battery to confirm that I factory reset the desktop upon returning. They wouldn't allow me to charge my laptop. This is not how you treat a loyal customer who goes out of their way to support local brick and mortar stores. With a few clicks on my iPhone, I could have ordered this off of Amazon and returned it with much less of a hassle. My husband and I went to this location in market for an outdoor TV, the representative took us into the media room and showed a Sunbright TV. We explained we needed a smart tv and it's a must, so we chose a 55". I told the guy it was cheaper on Amazon, he explained that he could only price match if sold and shipped by Amazon. He than stated that he found one in Best Buy website cheaper but different series if we were interested? We told him yes we wanted that one, so he placed an order for delivery. We received the TV And Geek Squad came to install today. We then found out it was NOT and smart TV! I immediately contacted Best Buy via chat and explained what happened. The representative was very apologetic and stated it's best to go into the store to receive more compensation than the 15% she offered. So we returned the TV to the store and spoke with a supervisor named Nick he came and told my husband and I "we can return the TV and purchase another if we like" I asked " are you saying for the inconvenience and the mistake made by your representative you are not offering any compensation? Nick said "No I am not" I again so we just have to eat the mistake made?" He stated that's correct" I than began to tell him he has very poor customer service and he was very cold and non caring about giving customer service. He than said will the Tv I was going to tell you about is discounted already" I asked him why would he not state that we he told us to purchase another TV?" I explained to him that I had already purchased another TV elsewhere and was expecting him to at lease try and make a bad situation right" I than Spoke to Dean and explained how Nick just handled my situation, Dean was apologetic and treated me like a valued customer. We have given Best Buy a lot of our money and we both hold their credit card and have never missed a payment whenever we've had a balance. Over the years I have done a great deal of business with Best Buy, I cannot say that I have had unsatisfactory experiences in the past. As of recent however that seems to have changed dramatically. This has caused me to re-think the relationship I have had with Best Buy for so long. It honestly seems as though the right hand is unaware of what the left hand is doing, a great deal of disorder seems to be taking place within this entity as of late, below average service also seems to be running rampant. The shipping service is rather appalling to say the absolute least, they call themselves "ontrac" I would not be at all surprised if this organization is being run from someone's garage. The delivery dates indicated on the website are very deceiving, it's a good thing this organization isn't delivering pizzas. I must admit you do receive several notifications indicating your item will be arriving soon, which to be honest mean absolutely nothing. A far more fitting name for this organization would be "offtrac" but I imagine they have not yet decided to use a name that is a more accurate display of the service they actually provide. The word ( soon ) allows a great deal of leeway I suppose. My first thought was soon today? soon tomorrow? or possibly soon next week? I really wasn't sure . The truth is had I not had two poor experiences with Best Buy & its shipping team it's likely I may not have found the time to actually sit down and express my dissatisfaction. The dissatisfaction that has caused me to feel as though it is time to sever the ties with Best Buy. If deception is something you enjoy, I highly recommend you utilize the shipping method offered on the website, you will not be disappointed. I will wrap up my online review at this point, I will simply view my experiences as a valuable lesson learned . Thankfully I have many other options as far as future purchases I may decide to make and will be sure to utilize those options. I bought a Sony camera brand new but when i took it home and opened the box and to my suprise it was missing the eye cap, adapter, charging cord and the camera was already on with the battery in. The language was set to spanish which i had to figure out how to change. I called customer service and they told me to go back to the store and they will exchange NO PROBLEM!! I went back next day and i explained everyting to Ximena the girl in customer service. She made me feel like i was lying, she questioned me and acted as if i kept these missing items and just wanted to switch. An associate was asked to grab me another camera after Ximena rudely asked me if i wanted a new box. Obviously i did, i did not purchase open box. I was told i would have to pay a "restocking fee" which was $100!!! I did not understand why i had to pay a fee. I bought the camera NEW, the store gave me a USED camera with MISSING items and i have to pay a fee for them to put it back on the shelves..? WHY WOULD YOU EVEN PUT IT BACK ON THE SHELF! I asked to speak to a manager, the associate called for a manager (which NEVER came) and i was asked to sign for a restocking fee on my new camera (WHICH I WAS NOT ASKED TO DO THE FIRST TIME). While i waited for a manager i was asked to open my box and make sure all items were in the box, as about 5-6 associates gathered around to watch me open the box i felt extremely uncomfortable amd embarrased. The inside of my box looked completely different than the first time which i was so shocked bc i cant believe they would sell the first camera that was obviously missing items. My receipt was printed for the exchange and i was told to have a good day. A manager never came out to speak with me, i left feeling terrible. This was an unpleasant and unfortunate experience for me. I have bought my mac book, ipad, beats, airpods, and apple watch at bestbuy bc i am always satisfied with the products and nice staff but this has definitely left me afraid to trust any purchases, unheard from my local store, and i left feeling like i did something wrong.
