iPhone Buyer Beware. Went in ordered my new phone they tried to fill the order before the phone arrived. This put the order in a No Pick Status and the only way to get it out of that is to cancel the order and redo the entire thing. Understand one hour later the phone arrived at Best Buy. I asked them to set it aside I would pick it up tomorrow. No can do. Why? That's not how their system works. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! My wife and I checked out this poor excuse of a best buy, First off it smelled liked raw sewage in the store dont know why plus Terrible, Terrible customer service. The employees are too busy talking to each other and ignore customers. Who wants to hear about the dates the employees went on? Come on seriously? My wife went in line to purchase a few Blu Rays and the cashier in a black shirt with no name tag just walked off on the lady in front of us and started singing saying its time for my break to another employee giving high fives. A lot of the reviews I see here that are bad make no sense. I've personally have been shopping here for almost 6 years and almost all my purchases for technology have been here. I got my Xbox series X here as well as plenty of computer parts. I got amazing deals on TVs, appliances, accessories, as well lots of information that they gave me so I was more informed on my purchase. I've learned so much from the reps in the store and they deal with some of the weirdest and dumbest customers. For me to see all these clowns leaving bad reviews for basic knowledge is hilarious and honestly it cracks me up. Don't listen to them at all they're most likely the Karen's and the Kevin's of the world who just want to have everything done their way if not they'll throw a hissy fit and cry about it. Me and my son waited in line for over 90 minutes this morning with my 8 year old son (who has 2 Xbox one, 2 Nintendo 3ds, a Wii U to name a few) for a Super Nintendo NES...I get a ticket for myself and then see other kids getting tickets. So my son asks for a ticket because he wanted one for himself. The guy handing out tickets says, "I can't give you one because you aren't 16." I don't know what's up with the employees but they come to you almost in single file line asking you if you need help. Yes I get that's part of a retail associates role on the floor but I'm sure employees seen a few other employees come up to me and ask if I needed help (mind you I was in the same aisle the whole time just checking out a monitor, nothing small to look suspicious or something). I just left my office to pick up a new power cord for my Dell laptop computer. Everytime I walk in there, there's a guy at the front who I know is just scoping out everyone who walk in for security measures but, he' s always so friendly and asks me how my days going etc... So, after saying hi to that guy, I wandered on over to the computer section and found a really friendly guy who looked like he worked there. Well he did, and he knew exactly what I needed, went and got it for me and had it back in my hands in about a minute. Anyway, the only complaint I have about Best Buy is that their lines are always long and slow. And I know it's partly due to the fact that they try to sell you every warranty in the book for pretty much everything you buy and, then they try to sign you up for Reward Zone by asking you if you have one and when you say no they grab a brochure and say okay, we'll just fill one out for you it will only take a few minutes...even though you thought you made it clear that you didn't want one. And then you leave the store feeling bad that you weren't friendly enough to the pushy cashier..... Whatever...all and all, Best Buys okay in my book! read more

I made a reservation online and told them what I needed to have done. A while later I called Best Buy on Sisk Rd., Modesto to confirm my appointment and they could not find it. So I called Best Buy in Riverbank and they said that they do not repair iPhones that only Modesto could do that. So I called back to Modesto and the woman I talked to said that she found my appointment. She also said that they repair I phone six she specifically asked me if I had a six or 6S and I told her a six and she gave me a price of $129. When I got to my appointment which was at an inconvenient time for me but I wanted my phone fixed I was told that they cannot fix iPhone 6. Very disappointed in the customer service. Worst experience ever at this Best Buy! Beware of in-store promotions at the verizon counter. You might get stuck paying hundreds of dollars in annual equipment fees! I visited the store on April 28th. Sales rep Blanca told me it was the very last day to take advantage of a special upgrade promotion for the Samsung Galaxy 8+, BUT in order to take advantage, I would have to file a claim with Geek Squad to repair the crack in the screen of my old phone. She said Verizon does not accept cracked screens for upgrades which I understood, so I got the process started & file the claim. Now back to the upgrade. Blanca tells me I will receive a text from Verizon (within 48 hours) with a promo code to take advantage of a $15 monthly equipment fee vs. a $34 monthly fee for the upgrade. 48 hours goes by and no code. 72 hours goes by and no code SO I call the store. Turns out Blanca is not working and I'm told she is the ONLY person who can help me. I leave a message for her to call me back. She calls me back and apologized for the delay & said she would text her manager to get the code & get back to me. She never got back to me so I go back to the store to sort this all out. She tells me in person her manager never got back to her with the promo code & she will call me when he does. No phone call. I call several more times and I'm told the same thing. Meantime, the clock is ticking on my Geek Squad claim. I have 30 days to send in my old phone. I'm not going to send in my old phone unless I know the promotion I was supposed to be receiving is going to go through, in case I need to return the new phone & I'm get my money back. Weeks go by and no promo code. Meantime I'm getting charged the full $34 monthly fee (rather than the $15 promotional fee). Then I get charged the $269 fee for not sending in my old phone. So NOW I'm out $269, and am stuck paying an additional $228 in monthly fees for what? Because Modesto Best Buy & the Verizon reps can't get their acts together and send a ridiculous promo code??? I would never have bought this phone if I knew it was going to turn out this way. Will never shop at Best Buy again! What HORRIBLE customer service! They deserve ZERO stars! read more

This is not a very nicely arranged store, The geek squad I'd great but they are the only staff in the store that is worth talking too, They do false advertising in saying they will match other prices, If you ask them to match they will look at the offer on the internet, Then ask the manager in the back and if he as no that is final. The manager will not come out and talk to you even when your request to speak to a manager. I was successful in buying from Best Buy Online. I bought a bundle of three items and one computer. We went in today for phone cases and screen protectors. We were helped by I think his name was Owen? (super curly hair and glasses). He was so friendly, so patient, and so knowledgeable. He went the extra mile to help us, find an item for us, explain different things to us, check inventory for us, and check price matching for us, all with a smile on his face!! It was an expensive trip to Best Buy, but I feel we got protective cases and good quality screen protectors, and with a lifetime warranty! I don't know that we would have completed our purchase today at Best Buy without his help and guidance to be honest. I would probably have left to shop around more if I wasn't approached by him and helped. I highly recommend him if you have a million questions because he has the patience to deal with it! I will preface this review by saying I am a 40ish (ok almost 50) yr old woman with a slippery grasp on technology. You know, just enough to get me in trouble. GEEK SQUAD - 1 STAR About 4 months ago I had someone diagnose my laptop and say it would need a new harddrive soon. I called Geek Squad in Modesto. The girl was rude and quoted prices that were much more than expected for service and parts. Called two other Geek Squad's and WOW! was she ever wrong. Called her back to let her know what the other locations said and was even more rude! "Well that's what our prices are." Damn. I ended up driving the extra 1/2 hour to go to another location. They were extremely helpful. Even refunded the cost of the harddrive when they found it unnecessary. I don't have to know a thing about tech to recognize a rude bitch and take my business elsewhere. TABLETS - 5 STARS Last Saturday my daughter and I went in to buy my hubby a tablet. We looked for about 2 minutes when someone offered help. We weren't quite ready. Another 3 minutes and more help. Not quite ready. I commend them on their prompt service. Another offer of help. I said "I'm looking to buy a tablet." Josh's response "I'm your guy. I know all about them." Great! He proceded to tell us the pros and cons of several. It was 45 minutes of pure appreciation for his knowledge and service skills. He answered every one of our 127 questions with confidence and a firm grip on the tech world. How about a case? He asked about how it would be used then recommended one that was perfect. We ended up with a very nice tablet PLUS I decided to get a new printer. Turns out he is the service manager. Also talked to him about my Geek Squad experience. He was obviously upset by the news and promised that if I decided to use this location he would be sure to make it right. I will definitely go back to Best Buy Modesto. PS-A previous reviewer commented on the "holes in their ears" and tattoos of some employees. Though I'm not of that generation and choose not to have any tattoos nor big "gaged" earrings many of the under-30 generation do. My dad and I usually have very pleasant experiences with this Best Buy location. My family has gone there on so many occasions that I'm surprised the staff doesn't recognize us. Yesterday I started on the arduous hunt for a better quality laptop. I was specifically looking for a laptop with at least i5, 2.00 GHz, a decent sound system and keyboard, and below $900. My dad and I figured that this location would be the "best" Best Buy to go to since we don't live too far away from Sisk. After looking around for a while, we found three laptops that had great specs and all were below $900. We had one salesperson come over and help us narrow it down to two laptops, and I feel so bad that I don't remember his name! He listened to what I was looking for in a laptop and was VERY polite and sweet. This guy is the reason why I rated this with 2 stars instead of 1. He helped us out at around 5:30, about 3 hours before the store closed. My dad and I decided to think about it more and figured that we would go back before the store closed that day. He respected that decision and wished us a good day. About 2 hours later, around 7:15-7:30, my dad and I went back to this Best Buy to look at the laptops one last time before I created a pros/cons list of the two laptops that really interested me. We get there and we immediately see the guy that had helped us out two hours ago. HOWEVER, this is when it got bad. A younger salesperson named Corey (I think) rushed over and said "I can help you guys out!" I figured that he would give us just as great of help as the first guy. I told Corey about what I was looking for in a laptop. He was very rude and cocky in the way that he spoke to me and his overall demeanor made me feel like I was an idiot for having such high standards for a laptop! As Corey showed us computers, that first salesperson that I liked came over and aggressively patted Corey on the back as if he was saying "thanks for stealing my customer!" Corey smirked and shook his head, as if he had been planning on trying to get us to spend $1500 that day. There was one laptop, a Lenovo, that he showed us that was just out of my price range ($1000) and I told him that it was too expensive. He told me that it's expensive because of the backlit keyboards (I couldn't care less about that spec. I'm a college student, not a cat that likes looking at bright lights). Since my current laptop does not have great sound quality, I asked him about the sound quality of the laptop he was showing us. He scoffed and said "Pff, you're NEVER going to find good sound in a LAPTOP!" Um, yes you CAN find good quality sound in a laptop. This laptop actually did have good sound quality so I looked over at Corey and said that I really like it. He then tells me other super cool things about the laptop that had me half-convinced. Corey discussed insurance plans next and he tried to get us to buy $400 worth of insurance on the laptop! That annoyed me even more. I ask my dad about what he thinks we should do, and he tells Corey to get the laptop from the back because he liked the specs. While Corey was gone, I realized that I did not like the keyboard. I have problems typing on reeeally flat keyboards that don't have that much "spring-back" power because it cramps my fingers. Corey comes back with the Lenovo and I give him the "bad" news (not bad for me because I really didn't want to pay $1000 for a laptop). He proceeds to tell me that this is a "top of the line" laptop and my issues with the keyboard were ALL IN MY HEAD. I then politely tell Corey that my dad and I will go home and think about it more and decide which laptop would be best for me. Of course, Corey being Corey, he said in an arrogant tone "you can't really 'think' about getting a laptop because you have to use it for more than 30 seconds, so keep it for 15 days and bring it back." He kept trying to get us to buy the laptop before the store closed, since it was about 8 when Corey came back with the laptop. He was rushing us to buy a laptop that I didn't want! My dad understands how commission works at tech companies since he works at one. If I got that laptop and only kept it for 15 days, Corey would STILL get his commission from the sale. We certainly did not want him to benefit from us. Corey then tried to sell us an even MORE expensive PC laptop (1500!!!!) that had a better keyboard. I think he thought I was dumb or something because he said "this computer has a solid state drive. Do you know what that means?" Good salespeople don't ask if a customer knows what something means; they tell the customer what it means, regardless of the customer's knowledge! He should have said "this laptop has a solid state drive, which means that..." I politely told Corey that we didn't want the laptop, and we left empty-handed. My dad and I will not be shopping at this Best Buy for a while out of fear that Corey will be there, destroying poor customers' wallets. read more

I'm not dressed like a transient, what gives?! Stood in front of the high end 4k UHD TVs for a good 15mins. I walked around the area so that someone, anyone could see me. No one's interested in a big sale I guess. Best Buy is one of those stores where you have to do most of the work, homework that is, if you want a positive shopping experience. I will never walk into this chain without knowing exactly what I'm lookin' for as "sales professionals" are generally not that professional anymore. I am aware that there are a handful of salesmen that take pride in their work and that you might luck out and get one. More often than not, you end up with some kid that really doesn't know too much and couldn't care less about it. This was not my experience this time however. I could not get anyone to notice me, pro or slacker. I generally don't go running up to staff in need of rescue, I like to see how long it takes for the sales team to notice a potential customer in their midst. One of several "QA" checks I do while perusing a store. I do my homework ahead of time so I can get in and get out so, looking for a sales person is really just to see if they know what they're talking about and if they attempt the up-sale. This Best Buy failed miserably on this day. No salesman, no sale, no up-sale, just plain 'ole fail. We purchased a washer and dryer through best buy in October 2019. The washer has been repaired through Best Buy four times already. We have also had GE technicians to look at the washer. The last time it was supposedly repaired was 5/23/20. The Geek Squad technician replaced the "mother board" on the washer. It did not fix the issue. I called the technician twice and have not heard back from him. This is the 4th time it has been repaired. Since October, we have only had a properly working washer for about 5 months. At this point, having any type of appliances through GE is very discouraging. When is it finally going to be addressed that this washer is defective and needs to replaced with a new one? My wife and I purchased new Galaxy Note 8's with Verizon as a carrier, we also picked up some Wi-Fi security cameras by Nest. Best purchases we have made, everyone at the store was great.
