I decided to give this spot another try since it has been a while since my last visit. This time I brought my OG parents with me who are used to eating flavors of the Bay Area. And I let them be the judges, turns out every single dish we ordered was heavily salted today. Now we usually love dipping our dim sums in soy sauce and chilli paste but today it was not necessary as everything was super salty. When we let the server know the dishes was too salty, her response was next time ask for less salt! So I had no idea you can customize the salt levels for dim sums? That was the first time I ever heard such a thing. I really hope they took our feedback seriously.
Heard the chef from Yue Hang came over here so we must visit! The place is small and quaint! We visited on a Sunday and lucky for us, there were plenty of seats. Their menu includes dim sum and a variety of Cantonese dishes. We mainly came to try their dim sum and were very pleased with the food. We ordered the chicken feet, shrimp and chive dumpling. Spare ribs with black bean sauce, eggplant stuffed with shrimp paste, shrimp rice roll, and egg tarts. Everything came out piping hot and delicious. The service was friendly! We would definitely visit again.
Finally Returned to this restaurant! They fixed some of their service issues I had the first time I dined here. Food is delicious! The golden shrimp rice rolls are the best! This time they did have the bean curd rolls which had noodles, veggies and a little meat. I do wish there were more veggies and meats served on the hong Kong house special noodles. They have decent lunch specials. My bf got the lemon chicken which he enjoyed. The egg roll did get a little soggy though bc it was soaked in the sauce.
Time for Dim Sum...because apparently every time I watch Crazy Rich Asians, my stomach turns into a dramatic main character and demands dumplings immediately. Normally, I hit up Yue Huang, but lately it's been giving "long wait, mild heartbreak." So I decided to branch out and found this hidden gem in Granite Bay...and let me tell you...BEST decision. You walk in and BAM!!!! Old school Chinese restaurant vibes. Red booths, classic decor, slightly run down in that "if these walls could talk, they'd recommend everything on the menu" kind of way. And if you know, you KNOW...that's when the food is about to slap. We came with a mission (aka hungry and slightly unhinged) and ordered: baked BBQ pork buns, shumai, har gow, shrimp rice rolls, pineapple baked custard buns, fried shrimp balls, and soup dumplings. Basically, if it could be steamed, fried, or stuffed...we said yes. It's clearly family run, which I love. Mom is running the show like a boss, kids are hustling, and since it was Mother's Day...CHAOS. Delicious chaos. Food flying out, servers holding trays of dumplings like treasures, stopping at your table and you're like "YES, THIS IS MY MOMENT"...and then they walk away to another table. Emotional rollercoaster. So many "Ooooh yay!" followed by "Ohhh man..." But honestly? It just built the suspense. Then OUR food arrived...and our eyes went WIDE. These dumplings are HUGE. Like, "one bite? absolutely not" huge. The BBQ pork buns were soft, fluffy, slightly sweet clouds of happiness. Har gow and shrimp rice rolls were perfectly steamed (no soggy sadness here ). Now, because it was busy, the shrimp had a bit of a split personality...some bites were perfectly snappy and delicious, others were just a little overcooked. Not tragic, just not living their absolute best life. But overall? Everything was GOOD. And then the check came...about $60 for ALL that food. I almost checked it twice like, "Ma'am...are you sure you charged me correctly?" Because that is a STEAL. What really got me though was the family. You could see the hustle, the stress, the love...all happening in real time. Even in the chaos, they were kind, smiling, and apologizing for the wait. That kind of heart hits different. Final verdict: great food, great value, and a whole lot of love. I'll definitely be back to try more of their main dishes. Until next dumpling craving...
It's been well over a year since my last dining experience at Best Dim Sum. I heard that ownership changed since. So I decided to give them a go. Glad I did. The dim sum was good, the place was cleaner, and owner was a super friendly and upbeat. Small family ran business! All right, let's get this messaging out there. Is it the best dim sum ever? In the world? Definitely not. Best in the Folsom/Granite Bay Area... yes! Sure you can get dim sum cheaper and probably more modern innovative dishes in South Sac. But that's 30+ miles away, one way. Best Dim Sum focuses on classic Cantonese dim sum dishes. The dim sum menu is large enough to hit all the classics including rice porridge which they have right kinds in the menu. Besides dim sum, they also have other classic Cantonese Chinese entrees and have a weekday lunch combo plate specials. If you have MSG food aversion, ask them before you order. I ordered sui mai, sticky rice in lotus leaf, egg custard, and fried sesame balls to go. The sui mai was tasty. Big, fat hunky four piece order. The fried sesame balls were heavenly delicious. Mmm. Crisp exterior with the stretchy, soft chewy rice flour crust and warm red bean paste interior. That's was a fun one to eat... the smell fried dough and then sweet paste,, the sound of the slight crackling, and sight of the all so subtle stretch. The sticky rice in lotus leaf had a ground pork filling inside but lacking the customary classic slices of salted egg and lap chon ( Chinese sausage). It was still tasty though. There was a slight ordering error with the egg custard. I ordered the Chinese style egg custard but got the Portuguese egg custard instead. I still enjoyed it! Pricing was the same, so no loss there. The difference is that the Portuguese egg custard has a puff pastry crust while the Chinese version is more of a firmer shortbread crust. But this Portuguese version had the same shortbread crust as the Chinese version. Also the Portuguese custard is sweeter and caramelized on top while the Chinese version is less sweet and not caramelized which this was. Still delicious!
Family visiting had a craving for dim sum but didn't want to travel to the city. Read the write ups and decided to try Best Dim Sum. The menu has an extensive addition of dim sum items. We were excited to have a local restaurant offer Dim Sum without us having to travel into Sacramento. We were greeted and quickly seated. We ordered off the menu and selected our tea. Dishes began to arrive shortly after our tea arrived. The stand out dishes were the bbq pork rice rolls, sesame balls, soy wrapped rolls, sweet rice triangle pudding, pork filled fried turnovers, and chive shrimp dumplings. This restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived but within an hour the place was bustling. It is only run by a family so 2 people trying to wait on 8 various sized tables/ booth was challenging.
Another six month review: better 'n better. Lina continues to provide outstanding Dim Sum! Food and service went well and ambience continues to improve.
Great place to get dim sum in Placer County, if you don't feel like driving to South Sac. It's a small establishment so it's best to go at opening or off-peak hours. Co-Owner Lina is awesome--super friendly and very hardworking. The first time we visited Best Dim Sum, we were amazed at how nonstop she was going! They have a huge menu including fabulous dim sum items as well as dishes such as chow fun and vegetables too! Prices are comparable to other dim sum places, we felt. Flavors were good, though everything was a little saltier than we would have liked, especially the beancurd skin roll. But maybe we're the exception. We just gulped down tons of ice water to compensate. The eggplant stuffed shrimp was good. Convenient parking, easy access to location. We enjoyed our lunch and had tons of leftovers for future meals also. Enjoyed chatting with Lina as well, which is what brought us back for a second visit! While not as amazing as the dim sum we've gotten in the Bay Area or around South Sac, we think it's definitely the best dim sum in Granite Bay!
Living in the Placer County area, we don't have many choices for authentic dim sum restaurants. You can always find Chinese, Korean, Thai, Japanese, etc restaurants, but if I want dim sum, I'd always have to head into Sacramento or the Bay Area. When I heard about this place, I was excited and couldn't wait to try it out. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall with plenty of parking. It's a small restaurant but they serve dim sum all day long. Oooh... whenever I get dim sum cravings, I can come here any time. Lina, the co-owner and our waitress was quick to greet us at the door with a warm smile and escorted us to our table. The menu has all of the typical Chinese dishes but there is a section for dim sum. That's what I came here for. We ordered, shrimp dumplings (har gow), shrimp chive dumplings, shrimp rice roll, eggplant stuffed with shrimp paste, bean curd skin roll, beef tripes, house special chow fun, and Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce. I know that's a lot of food, but we were looking forward to having leftovers to take home. It wasn't long before our food started arriving. OMG, I was in heaven. Everything tasted amazing. My faves today were the eggplant and shrimp chive dumplings. The only slight complaint that I had was that the bean curd skin roll was slightly undercooked and a little too salty. Otherwise, I couldn't be happier. Now I've got this great little gem of a dim sum restaurant nearby and I don't have to drive all the way to Sacramento to get authentic dim sum. Win-win! Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.
As a Chinese, I approve this place. We tried their beancurd roll, golden shrimp roll and beef chow fun. Beef chow fun, in order to know a good Chinese food, it always starts with the basics. The chow fun was good, a little too oily but the flavor was good except it needed some wok hei. Our favorite was the golden shrimp rice roll, it was so good. Do we have betters yes. However, to find this dish in here Roseville/ granite Bay? It's nearly impossible! So 5 star for this dish!!! I really like the beancurd roll.. everything was just super hot to eat! Tasted a little bit more msg but delicious. The service was super friendly, we did the order online so it's super easy! The restaurant looks like a Oakland Chinatown restaurant, a little old style like some of those movies Chinese restaurant lol
Been wanting to give this place a try for quite some time now. Finally went in for lunch yesterday. Yum! Very friendly and fast service. Glad to get the last available booth rather than a regular table. Served our food piping hot as it was prepared and ready. We had sesame balls, steamed BBQ pork buns, shui mai, Shanghai dumplings and chive shrimp dumplings, plus hot jasmine tea. All were delicious and the portions were quite sizable. All of that for less than $50 for two of us (including tax and tip) ~ screaming deal for how expensive things are these days! The BBQ buns, shui mai and Shanghai dumplings were by far my favorites and the tea was delicious but nuclear hot when it came out so it took a while to be able to enjoy it. Knocked one star because the soy sauce bottle was super sticky and gross, like maybe never ever wiped clean. And there was a huge bowl of raw meat on the back booth table the entire time we were there (they were making shui mai, it looked like), but just seemed weird that it was out and unrefrigerated for so long ~ and in front of house. Overall, would definitely come back again!
I've seen many Yelp friends give great reviews for Best Dim Sum, so we had to visit when. We were in the area. We came for lunch right when the opened and we were seated right away. The inside had tables and booths. Each table had utensils, soy sauce, and hot chili oil. We ordered shumai, Shanghai meat dumplings, beef rice roll , and lotus wrapped sticky rice. All were great. The rice roll and sticky rice were our favorites. The Shanghai meat dumplings were a little small though. Service was fantastic. The owner was so friendly and kind. We did enjoy our lunch and felt it was great dim sum for the area. Hopefully we'll be back in the area to try them again!
Thanks to Yelp I discovered this place while searching for good eats in the area. I drove an hour round trip to have lunch here. I am glad I did. I sat in an old school booth and ordered three different dim sum dishes. Had planned to order more however some of serving sizes are larger than typical dim sum serving of three pieces. I got steam pork buns and they hit the spot. Best I have had in quite a while. Nice amount of high quality char siu. I got the eggplant stuffed with shrimp and was served four really big pieces. Tasty and satisfied my craving for shrimp. Finally I got the stuffed bean curd rolls and their version was different than I am used to and I liked the change. Lots of veggies, ground pork and pieces of shrimp in bean wrapper. I would get all these items again!
Arrived on a Saturday right after they opened and good thing as the place filled up in the next 20 minutes. We were warmly greeted and immediately seated in a roomy booth. It's not a large space but neat and clean as a pin. Nice location in a strip shopping center in Granite Bay on Folsom-Auburn Road. Lots of easy parking. Service was outstanding - quick, friendly, frequent follow-ups and provided at one time or another by all three of the wait staff. We were repeatedly asking if everything was okay and did we need something else. Green tea was served piping hot in a good size tea pot with nice fresh leaves in the pot. Excellent flavor. We ordered the following dishes all at once: Siu Mai - Excellent Beef Meat Balls - okay but lacking flavor - needs a better sauce Egg Tarts - Oh my! Great! Fried Pork Dumpling - Outstanding - great flavor! Fried Shrimp Ball - Outstanding! Shrimp Dumplings - Very Good Steamed Shrimp Rice Noodle - a bit lacking in flavor - needs a better sauce Each dish was served piping hot and fresh from the kitchen as soon as it was ready. We will definitely be adding this as a frequent stop on our personal Flavor Train. read more

Came here on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was pretty empty. Ordered a bunch of dim sum to go and the lady taking our order was super nice. We didn't have to wait that long for our food. Everything was delicious! Loved the chow fun, the garlic green beans, and all the dim sum selections. We ordered a lot and it lasted us like five full meals. It came out to less than $100. read more

I was in the neighborhood last week and super hungry for lunch so I stopped in this little place. It feels like an old school Cantonese restaurant with older red decor, and those round tables with lazy Susans on top. I would have liked to try more Dim Sum but I was by myself so I had the lunch special instead. It was very generous with choice of soup, egg roll, cashew chicken and fried rice. Everything in my cashew chicken tasted so fresh, all the vegetables and chicken. There was a lot of both chicken and cashews, and I really enjoyed it. The fried rice was a little bland but otherwise it was good, and a decent value. I really enjoyed the Jasmine tea as well. I'd love to come back sometime with someone else to try some Dim Sum and try a few more things. read more
Sometimes I have this crazy craving for fresh dim sum, either it's awakened by my childhood memories or I just really want to bite into my favorites. If I don't fulfill my taste buds it usually gets worse, so my lovely fiancee quickly searched Yelp for the best place and found Best Dim Sum. The store was located in a strip mall and was easy to spot since they placed large dim sum pictures all over the window. Once we entered the shop, it looked like an old-school, classic Chinese restaurant with deep maroon booths on the side and round tables (w lazy Susan) in the center. All the servers were friendly. We got our order in and they printed out a receipt and stuck it on our table to keep track of their orders. Which I appreciate because it's easier for everyone (including us) to track the dishes and progress. We ordered Shaumai, Shrimp chive dumplings, deep-fried salty dumplings, lotus sticky rice, Chasiu bao, shrimp paste eggplant and egg tarts. I am happy to report everything tasted wonderful here, except the Shaumai because its wrapper was a bit soggy from the steam. However, it's still quite delicious so I can overlook that. My favorites were egg tarts and deep-fried salty dumplings. The egg tarts has a crunchy crust with silky filling, while the hot crispy fried salty dumpling made my taste bud goes OMG! Overall, I am happy we can find a good dim sum restaurant in the Rocklin area, just in case another dim sum craving emergency hits! read more

I DoorDashed dinner a few days ago from Best Dim Sum. The food arrived quickly and was still warm. The serving sizes were reasonable. The order consisted of Salt & Pepper Shrimp, Honey Walnut Shrimp and White Rice. While I preferred the Honey Walnut Shrimp ... flavor wise, both were pretty good. However, with so many Asian / Chinese food options in the area, not sure I will order from them again ... soon. Competitively priced. read more

Came in on Sunday and it was empty. We were told to sit wherever we wanted to. Only one person working the front of the house with taking phone orders, working cash register and waiting on tables so service was slow. There was a large party of about 12 that came in. We got an orange chicken lunch combo which comes with soup and fried rice. Neither were to my liking and small portions compared to other Chinese restaurants. Fried rice seemed like just rice and egg, no veggies or anything. Soup was egg drop soup with corn. I enjoyed the shrimp rice roll and ha kao (shrimp dumpling). We also got fried shrimp balls but the sauce it came with was sweet chili and not the sweet and sour sauce. We paid with cash since we knew it'd probably take a while if we were to pay with credit card. read more

So excited and delighted to have a real dim sum restaurant in Granite Bay/Roseville/Rocklin area!!! We've been wishin' and waitin' a long time. Restaurant took over Season Kitchen's location in the Granite Bay Village Shopping Center. I went on a Wednesday around 5 PM before the dinner rush, so I didn't have to compete with any other customers to order dim sum! I couldn't decide and resist ordering, so I pigged out ordering 4 dishes just for me. I finished my meal within an hour. My first dim sum plate of FRIED PORK DUMPLINGS came out within minutes of ordering. So fast that I suspect it was reheated, but it turned out to be my favorite dish. It could have been served a little hotter. The dumpling wrapper is made of chewy, sweet glutinous rice. Marinated ground pork inside. The next two steamed dishes came out about the same time: Shrimp Chive Dumplings and LOTUS LEAF STICKY RICE. Beautifully wrapped, the shrimp chive dumpling wrapper was too thick and predominant as I ate it. The Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice was pretty good. I wished there was more salted egg yolk in it, but I'd order it again. Plenty of meat inside. The most complicated to assemble dish, Golden Shrimp Rice Roll, came out last. Not being Cantonese, I don't think I love and appreciate and crave fried bread sticks as much as my Cantonese friends! Dish looked great in photos, but I guess I don't enjoy fried foods as much these days. I liked the shrimp filling and the Chinese broccoli (gai lan) garnish though. I probably would enjoy the Shrimp Dumplings or Shrimp Rice Roll more. I saw at least 2 customers ordering BAKED CUSTARD PINEAPPLE BUNS to go, so that may be a dish to order in the future. It's possible they ordered based on the pretty photo posted in the front of the restaurant. I'd also be interested in ordering Eggplant or Green Pepper Stuffed with Shrimp Paste next time. Glancing at other customers' tables, I don't think the meat entrees looked appetizing. I'd stick with the dim sum. Lots of seating inside. Big tables with Lazy Susans. Good for families and large parties. I thought the restaurant looked nice inside. Clean, handicap-accessible restroom. Service was fast and efficient. You might need to flag a server down for more water or to go boxes, but it's easy to do that since they walk past you often. While not the best dim sum I've ever had, Best Dim Sum will easily satisfy a dim sum craving without having to enter a casino or drive to Sacramento and deal with crowds and wait times. I saw a fellow foodie post about eating here and I was sold on the words "dim sum". We came on Saturday at opening because I don't do lines. There was no wait and we were the first people in. Our food came out piping hot and so quickly, I kept wishing I could eat faster! The flavors were on point and we enjoyed everything. Super happy to have a dim sum spot near us that we don't need to drive 30-40 minutes out to Sacramento/Davis for. We'll be back! read more
We went on Sunday before lunch time and was seated immediately. - fried sesame ball: lots of chewy coating but little red bean filling - bbq pork bun: the pork filling was delicious but the buns were rather small. - Shanghai meat dumpling (XLB): the skin was too thick & no soup inside the dumpling. The meat filling tasted good though. - general chicken with rice (lunch special): the portion was huge! The chicken pieces were super crispy. The sauce was good but it was overwhelming as they put too much sauce. The only thing that we felt worth it for the price When I tried to pay with apple pay, the cashier said that the internet was down. I asked to pay with other credit card but she insisted me to pay cash although the person before me was able to pay with credit card. Luckily I had some cash on me. For the small portion of the dim sum, I felt like it was pricey. But the flavor was there, so it's a solid 3.5 stars read more

I can only review for takeout, but I'll say I was very pleased with my takeout order. Everything was the right temperature and texture despite the travel time. I will warn anyone ordering from door dash that a few of the pictures don't match what the product is, but it is what it is. read more

As their business name states... this is the best dim sum in Granite Bay! Still have plenty to explore as we're new to Roseville but this spot absolutely sets the bar high! This hole in the wall dim sum is small and isn't your typical Chinatown spacious restaurant with carts rolling around, but it will definitely satisfy your dim sum cravings just as successfully! Besides one hiccup with the beef rice noodle dish (tad overcooked), nearly everything we ordered was on point and brought us back to downtown LA Chinatown's delicious food spots. Service was fast, staff is very friendly (family run restaurant, I believe), space is small limited so call ahead of time for waiting time, clean environment, and plenty of parking spaces so don't worry about that. Having a dim sum craving? Look no further! Family friendly environment for everyone to enjoy. Oh and the eggplant with shrimp paste was soOoOoo good! read more

After reading the many positive reviews and because I'm a huge Dim fan we stopped by on a cold, wet March day for lunch. The place has been only open for a year but has an aesthetic that it's been here longer with simple no frills decor. The server was very nice. I ordered my usual Dim Sum staples - bbq pork buns, spare ribs, siu mai, shrimp dumplings, shrimp rice roll. The flavors were very solid but a bit bland and helped by the red chili oil and soy sauce. The baked ciustard pineapple bun was also good. Not sure we'll be back but definitely a solid choice for Dim Sum. read more

We love dim sum and thought we would give this place a try. So glad we did! Everything was delish! I've been craving good chow fun and this House special included chicken, pork, and shrimp with lot of thick noodles. The lotus leaf sticky rice was really good too but forgot the pic. Honestly, top 3 dim sum that we have ever had. Having lived in SF and frequently going to Sac and Stockton for dim sum, my husband and I are SO happy we found this place! The woman that works there, Lena (spelling may be wrong), is absolutely fantastic. She works hard, she's fun, and she takes care of you! The chefs also killed it. The prices were amazing as well. Zero complaints. My stomach is growling thinking about the food again! We will be back and next time bringing more of my family. Highly recommend! read more

The staff are super friendly and kind. The restaurant ambiance mess a little work. I think for a quick meal it is perfect, but not a place I would want to come for traditional dim sum and tea to relax and catch up with friends or family. The Siu Mai (steamed pork dumpling) and Hum Soi Gok (tapioca fried pork dumpling) was very good. The Beef Chong Fun roll needed to be more tender. The beef filling needed a little scallion in the mix or ginger - not quite sure - but missing some flavor. The Char Siu Bao (Pork filled baked bun) needed more filling and the dough texture was off. Needs more milk and raising the the bun so that it is soft. The steamed pork bun was good; but again, we would have like it with more filling. Decent if you are craving dim sum and do not want to drive to Sac. read more

In a nutshell; wouldn't say the best, but it is some pretty good dim sum. For the amount I paid and for what I got, it was a relatively good experience. Food tasted good. Theres a different array of food to choose from besides dim sum. The wait didn't take too long at all. It did come in phases. Wasn't the best dim sum I have tasted as the restaurant's name suggests but I wouldn't mind swinging by back here again. Didn't wait too long to get seated even during the latter half of peak lunch hours. The servers were nice and accommodating. Few minor things to consider, it felt rather warm inside and even more in the bathroom somehow, considering it was triple digit weather outside, it would be nice to be eating In a relatively cooler place , it was better but the warm temp wasn't the best. For a dim sum named place, it's relatively very much like any other Chinese themed restaurant with the menu options, no complaints there but makes the dim sum less prominent seeing as it just seems like just another menu item as oppose to being the featured option. Overall still good food. Was stuffed at the end of it. read more

This place is winning in service! There was a lady who took my order that was so kind and had a very caring aura. She made my experience awesome. The restaurant is small inside and has a very mom n pop feel to it. They even had one of the kids playing/doing hw at the booth in the back so you know this place is legit. I ordered simply today but everything tasted delicious. The shumai was hot, juicy, and plump. The Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce was also on point. They use different type of broccolis! Chinese beef broccoli uses Chinese broccoli (gai lan) which is leafy and can be a little bit bitter and the beef broccoli is just any standard beef broccoli.
