They do an amazing job with this entree. I've had it at several places and they do much better than most dim sum establishments in sacramento. Pork spare ribs - hot!! So so so good but it comes out steaming hot so eat it last. It's flavorful and one of my favorites. Taro cake? It's not taro...... another root. It's too 3 of all entrees. One hour and forty five minutes is how long we sat at our table without our full order before we threw in the towel to leave. The place is small-ish, about 10 4 tops and 3 larger round tables in the middle to fit 8+ groups. The place was getting full which we thought was a good sign. When we got our table we realized why it was so full. No one was getting their food. The tables are pretty close together so you can see the anxiousness and the groups whispering about "how much longer" is everything going to take. It looked like most people were there for dim sum and dim sum is pretty much batch food so I'm not sure why it was even taking the kitchen so long. We ordered about 8 different dim sum items and a pot of team. After an hour and forty five minutes we got a pot of tea (didn't get our requested refill) and 3 of the dishes. Nothing was special order and we even saw some of the stuff we ordered heading to other tables that sat after us. When we finally saw our order ticket there was incorrect items on it- which in the grand scheme of things we ended up not getting anyways. For the items we did get: sui mai, har gow and the black bean spare ribs were decent. Not bad! The service was definitely something that was struggling and the kitchen needs extreme support and expediting service- so many dishes were being sent back because the order was taken incorrectly. I saw several tables get up and leave and the take out was over an hour wait. Give this place some time to ramp up- apparently under new management/staff. However if they haven't improved by May it will be a challenge for them to keep the buzz and customers. They have a good start so I hope they see these reviews and take some of the comments into consideration. read more

Good food! The service is a bit slow, but there's only one person working the dining room, so in light of that, I was happy with the level of service. I'm sure this will improve in due time. We had the fried shrimp balls, shu mai, fried pork dumpling, beef rice rolls and hot & sour soup. The hot & sour soup was a bit weak, but everything else was really good. I was going back and forth between giving them 4 stars or 5 stars, realistically I'd give them 4.5 stars just because on a certain day (I believe it's Wednesday, I'm not too sure) they don't offer their baked dim sum items which is a bummer because it's so good. They also do charge for tea which was foreign to me because usually it's always included so that's just something to note. But I decided to go ahead with giving them 5 stars because the overall experience and taste of the food can make me overlook that inconvenience. Upon entering, you'll notice it's a fairly small restaurant so don't expect dim sum carts strolling around. You order off the menu, which I honestly prefer. It's a small family owned restaurant and they're very helpful and informative with any questions you may have or if you're unsure on what to order. Let's get into the best part, the food! - lotus leaf sticky rice: 3.5/5, the flavor was really good and loaded with filling but it wasn't as enjoyable since the rice was pretty overcooked - beef chow fun (dry): 4/5, solid chow fun - siu mai: 5/5, very tasty and packed with filling - shrimp dumplings (har gow): 5/5, soooo good and it's PACKED with shrimp! - golden shrimp rice roll: 5/5, if you could only get one thing, GET THIS! This was our favorite item, it was so good we ended up ordering more for our table AND to-go - fried pork dumpling: 4.5/5, this was really good as well! it wasn't heavily oily either - fried shrimp ball: 4.5/5, again super tasty without being super oily! - egg tarts (Dan tat): 4.5/5, I usually don't like regular egg tarts but theirs was really good! I hate when the filling is super jelly-like but theirs was more custard-like which I loved! & it wasn't too sweet - shrimp & chive dumpling: 5/5, I usually don't like this item either because it usually has too many chives and not enough shrimp but theirs has so much shrimp and it's so flavorful! Second time here. I noticed this time that the dumplings were larger than other dim sum places I've been to. Everything was fresh. It came out and was so hot that I burned my mouth. I ordered 6 dishes and brought my own water bottle and my lunch was $45. It was more than enough food for one person, and probably enough for two. Servers are friendly and it has a family atmosphere. Yes, it's hard to find good dim sum nearby that's outside of Sacramento and San Francisco so we're glad to see this place. The standard Dim Sum items that we've tried were fairly good- Shiu Mai, Shrimp Dumpling, Lotus Leaf sticky rice (they have the one without peanut), Shrimp-stuffed Eggplant, etc. The Chow Fun (dry) can be seasoned a bit more as it tends to be on the bland side but decent noodle quality. Food quality was just okay nothing special! The you g lady who served us was friendly throughout the time. It's 115 degrees outside in the middle of Summer! We entered the place hoping to get some cool air inside and it was like eating inside a sauna! The lady with glasses offered us some pork buns to compensate for the lack of A/C and we declined. I get that stuff happens and sometimes it's out of your control. However, they should put some fans around the restaurant to circulate some cool air! Everyone was fanning themselves and people were sweating like crazy! I felt bad for the employees and manager cause they were very apologetic and that's why I didn't make a big deal about the broken A/C. I hope they get it fix soon cause the food isn't bad! Mongolian beef was chewy, tasteless and bland. The BBQ pork bun looked like someone didn't know how to form the dough. Came here because we wanted to see if there was a good dim sum place that was closer to us. Note: this dim sum place does not have carts going around. We were sorely disappointed with this place. First, the service. We ordered the siu mai, spare ribs with black bean sauce, the BBQ pork and shrimp rice rolls from the dim sum menu and the house special chow fun (with gravy) and fish with black bean sauce from the a la carte menu. For those who are more versed in dim sum ordering, this is not a lot of food. It took the staff 45 min to get all of the food out to us. They didn't seem organized or coordinated at all. We were tucked away in a small corner and it felt like they forgot about us, especially being right by the kitchen entrance. We saw so much food pass by us for other tables. Second, the food. At best, the food was mid. The black bean flavor did not bloom as much as we wanted and the rice noodles were all bunched up and thick (not in a good way). The flavors overall were okay, nothing to write home to. For the name of the place to boast the best dim sum, we expected better. Third, the price. Compared to other dim sum places in the Greater Sacramento area, they are at least $1-2 more expensive per dish. Also, their a la carte menu items are quite expensive especially considering the presentation of each dish and lack of coordination on their part. I generally dislike giving bad reviews. Sometimes it's better to just not say anything, but how can they improve if they don't know. We came in for lunch right when they opened and the first one seated. We ordered 3 plates and a handful of dim sum. It's definitely a local mom and pop shop so not sure if they're short handed. The food came out in waves and not all at the same time. They were definitely running behind because after an hour we asked for the bill and had to take our food to go. It wasn't an ideal experience. Overall the dishes are pretty good for Granite Bay. Sadly, with granitebay Location Comes, Granite, Bay prices, I found most of the dishes were at $2 two dollars more expensive than other dim sum places. Which adds up if you order 10 dishes. Most of the food suffers from the same problem. As with all Chinese restaurants, the food is way too salty. But more importantly, it isn't from the flavoring during the cooking process, but more from the way that they treat their meat prior to cooking. The meat is marinated in heavy salt to tenderize, which adds a really strange after taste to most of their dimsum dishes. The orange chicken is really good. My kids seem to really like it. But honestly when did going out for dim sum between one adult and two young children cost $110? All dimsum dishes are between $7-8. read more

This is a nice little spot in Granite Bay. Every time I go there is only a few customers dining in but I have only been for lunch. The staff is attentive and the food comes out pretty fast. Now the menu. I have tried a lot of different things from the menu and everything has been soooo good. My favorite is #14 Shanghai Meat Dumpling or the soup dumplings! So flavorful, juicy, and succulent. The flavors are just bursting once you take a bite. The buns are so good as well. The meat is savory and sweet and the bun is so light it just falls apart and in your mouth. The Siu Mai is also a top favorite based of the flavor alone. It can get quite expensive depending how much you order but each portion is pretty big. I was full after getting three orders of dumplings. Their lunch specials are priced good and you get a lot of food. The Kung Pao chicken was my favorite. I asked them to make it spicier for me and they delivered. I had A LOT of food to take home. I usually come here with my boss as we both are Asian and love Asian cuisine. I am happy to see a hole in the wall dumpling spot in Granite Bay since there isn't much culture in the area unless you head all the way to South Sacramento. This place is delicious. The service was really friendly and considering it seems like a 3 lady dim sum operation, they are fast and well organized. They don't do carts - it's per item ordering. Most items were in the $7/4 piece range, so not cheap but not outrageous. The have all the standard dim sum fare. I think it's the only dim sum place out this way from Sacramento and they seem to be doing good business. We went right at 11 Sunday and they were busy by the time we left.
