    Spam Masubi trio
    Bhavisha P.

The food was delicious. I have tried a bunch of Hawaiian restaurants around here and by far this is the best. We ordered the spam masubi, half bbq beef and shrimp and fish, and a short ribs meal. Yum! Plus they are super quick for all the food they made us. The beef and ribs are so flavorful and I loved the shrimp and Mac salad. Lots of places have spam masubi but this place tasted the best and made me remember loving it in Hawaii.

Seafood and Meat Combo that has chicken katsu, shrimp, and mahi mahi. Comes with Mac salad, Tatar sauce, katsu sauce and lemon.

I frequent this place with my kids because the food is pretty good and it's the only Hawaiian bbq in the area. The katsu is always good id say it's on par w all the good Hawaiian bbq places, shrimp was ok honestly was a little heavy on the batter for me, and the mahi mahi was good. Service is always fast and friendly. They have a ton of space to dine in or eat outside. The ambiance gives Hawaiian fast food vibes but not really a bad thing. Giving this place 4 stars because they have a pretty wide variety on their menu and everything I've tried is pretty good.

The storefront feels like it's been thru several restaurant reincarnations -- a little mismatched, peeling paint, counter cobbled together and vinyl'd over, bare minimum of effort to turn it into the next. A little tacky. This is a chinese business, like Nagoya (sushi joint in the same shopping center). I got a musubi trio. It was 1 spam, 1 chicken Katsu, 1 chicken BBQ. They're definitely not going for authenticity, that's for sure. Rice is plain white and a little gummy, not seasoned sushi rice. I can't say I care for the packaging, either -- in hawaii usually each musubi's saran wrapped, which is both less packaging than a container and it helps keep the musubi together while eating. These, biting into one end makes rice squeeze out the other. The rice is also not a firmly shaped loaf like it should be, which doesn't help the falling-apart issue. Fortunately, the taste of each musubi somewhat redeems them. Chicken Katsu: crispy, tender chicken, tho some sort of sauce is needed. Or maybe just more of it. 3.5/5 Chicken BBQ: good flavor, not completely dry like I was expecting. 3/5 Spam: on the salty side, still good. 3/5 Won't get musubi here again.

What I ordered circled in red on the left. What I got instead. So disappointing!

After being very impressed the first time I ordered from this place, we ordered again last night. I ordered a mini plate with short ribs, rice and macaroni salad. I got a mini plate of barbecued beef, which was way too salty, rice and broccoli. I had been craving their short ribs and macaroni salad. Needless to say, getting broccoli instead of creamy mac salad that I craved was a major disappointment. I've included the picture of my receipt with my order, next to what I actually got. Seriously, how hard is it to get something like that right?

We stopped by today for lunch. When we arrived, there was only one other customer waiting for their food. We placed our order at the register. The cashier was less than enthusiastic to take our order. I'm not sure if he was having a bad day, but he was not very welcoming or friendly. I ordered the Bbq chicken and bbq beef combo with rice and Mac salad. My hubby ordered the Bbq combo plate. We also ordered some malassadas. The food took over 20 minutes. I'm not sure it took that long since they weren't busy. The bbq chicken was really good and juicy. The bbq beef was tender but extremely salty. My husband beef ribs were so tuff that he couldn't chew them. The same for his bbq beef. It was extremely tuff and all gristle. The only thing edible was his chicken. He has also ordered brown rice but was given white rice by mistake. We didn't say anything because we already waited long enough for our order. The malassada were warm and tasty. I think it may be a while before I try coming here again.

To be honest, I ended up at Best Hawaiin BBQ, it was not my original destination, but I was so lucky to stumble across this place. Upon arrival, I looked at the menu and immediately landed on the short rib. The service was relatively quick. The food came out quickly, was hot and was fresh. Flavor-wise, I've come to love Hawaiin food. Maybe it's a sign that I should live in Hawaii, haha. The place overall is pretty small and the door is propped open since the weather is mostly ideal. I highly recommend this place!

Ordered dinner via DoorDash. It was my first time trying this restaurant. My food arrived fast and was nice and warm. Had the Hawaiian BBQ beef with brown rice and macaroni salad. It was delicious. The beef had a deep, rich teriyaki flavor that I really liked. Sometimes beef from Hawaiian places is all dried out, but this beef wasn't. It tasted so good combined with the creamy macaroni salad. Portion size was good, too. I ordered a lemon-lime soda, thinking I'd get a Sprite or 7Up, but instead they sent a large cup of pink lemonade over ice. I never would have ordered that for myself, but it was very refreshing. It would have been nice to have some kimchi with the BBQ beef. Back in the day you used to be able to order a side of it at most Hawaiian restaurants, but I rarely come across it anymore. Anyway, I enjoyed my dinner very much and will definitely go back again.

Fast casual Hawaiian spot. The workers are very friendly and there is seating inside and outside. Plenty of parking in the surrounding parking lot. Food is prepared to order so it does take a few minutes.

I love Hawaiian barbecue and this place is no exception. The inside is very spacious has a lot of seating and very clean. There's also a kiosk to order but honestly, it was faster to just order at the cashier. I got the mini Katsu with the side of white rice and Mac salad - the classic! The portions are very generous, and I would definitely get the mini katsu again! It was extremely crispy, hot and satisfying. We also wanted to try something different so I got the garlic fish which only comes in the regular size, so we definitely had leftovers. The garlic fish was really crispy! The service here is warm and friendly, and they even brought the food to our table when it was ready.

I was running errands and I wanted to get a small quick bite somewhere, so I checked out Best Hawaiian BBQ that seems fairly new, at least to me since the previous restaurant had been there for a long time. I decided to get the Spam Musubi to go and pick up some food for my husband in the same plaza. While I was waiting for his order, I ate the Spam Musubi. The flavor was really good, but of course, just like the other Hawaiian place, the Spam was thin and the rice was three times as thick. Oh well. That's why I like to make my own. I will come back and try their other items.

This is what I took out of the actual trays of food. Was a small fraction of the order, and even these plates weren't finished!

Ordered from here for Thanksgiving, yes, you're reading correctly, Thanksgiving! We had a traditional Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday with extended family, so opted for take out on Thanksgiving Day. All the kids love katsu (adults too), so we thought Hawaiian would be the perfect choice. Katsu, spam musubis, etc. I called a bunch of L&L's and Ono Hawaiians, but none of them were planning on being open Thursday. I had pretty much settled for ordering for a Wednesday pick up and heating up the food (not ideal, but.......) Thankfully I saw the Yelp reviews for this spot and called. I was in the process of ordering for Wednesday when I made a comment about them not being open on Thursday... I was speaking to Jessie, one of the owners, and she mentioned that they actually would be open, and not special holiday hours, but their normal hours... amazing! And an even better/bigger bonus- they would be able to deliver! I was sooooo happy! I requested a 5:30 delivery and they were right on time, if not a few minutes early. Pros- open on Thanksgiving! Super friendly service (Jessie was awesome!), they have the traditional Hawaiian comfort food you'd find at mixed plate spots, with some extras (they have lumpia on their menu - chicken or vegetarian), the food, even in mass quantities and via delivery was really tasty. Katsu was still crispy, bbq beef and kalua pork were seasoned well. Was happy with all the dishes... Cons- this is more on me, but I could have ordered mini trays of everything and would have still had leftovers. I ordered several 1/2 trays (katsu, spam musubis, lumpia), then mini trays of beef, pork, and Mac salad. This was for 10 people, but it would have fed 20, maybe even 30! We barely made a dent... so if you order their party trays, really think about how much to order! Otherwise just know the food you order will be made well, delivered on time, and the service you receive will be helpful and friendly. Will order from them again when we have people over... but maybe less, depending on how many people we have!

Orders the fried fish with garlic plate. That garlic sauce was sooo buttery and garlicky. Fish was fried well. Good portions. They made a mistake and just gave me fried fish. And when I went up to ask for the garlic sauce, they were so apologetic even though I wasn't even upset about the mistake. I just wanted the sauce! LOL! They even tried to make up for it still and gave me a drink. Was busy when I went in during lunch time too. Definitely will be a return customer.

Given the short…read moretimeframe and large order size, they delivered everything quickly while serving great quality food. The service was fast, organized and the food was consistently great. If you're looking for a catering food truck for a small lunch window that delivers high quality and very quick service, I HIGHLY recommend Fire and Rice. Their Hawaiian Asian fusion menu is unique and stands out compared to other Asian or poke trucks I've tried. The garlic shoyu chicken and tuna poke were my personal favorites. I tried some of my coworkers garlic shrimp & Miso tofu too...surprisingly pretty GOOD! With inflation being what it is, their food is absolutely worth the price, and they were also flexible and willing to work within our reasonable budget. I can't recommend them enough. For catering inquiries, It was a little difficult getting them on the phone so we played phone tag a lot. I suggest texting or emailing Micah or Jessica for the quickest response, as they're often busy on the truck or during service.

Final Thoughts: 4.33/5…read more They were our caterer for a work party. This is a food truck and they seem to have everything ready to be served to us. Asian fusion foods are typically my go-to choice and so I was very excited that they were providing us food today. Food: Garlic Fried Chicken Bowl: 4.3/5 The sauce on this is divine with the chicken. It's like an unagi sauce with garlic in it. It has some saltiness, sweetness, and that umami flavor. Garlic taste and scent is present, but not too overpowering, which I really enjoyed. That flavor is great, but some places really overdo it for me. Just a personal preference though. For the chicken itself, it's very tender and juicy on the inside and still has some of that nice crunch on the outside. Perhaps this is because the cut of meat is the chicken thigh. It's not super crispy because I don't believe this is being fried to order for us. Seems to be food held in a warmer until its ordered. Kimchi was the side that they had provided with this dish and I am here for that. Some people aren't the biggest fan of this and I saw that from the looks my coworkers gave it. Personally, very much enjoyed it though. That sourness and spice from the kimchi just balances out this bowl really well. The veggies are nice and crispy. Gives it that freshness. Also, very slight detail and addition, but I always enjoy the sesame seeds and furikake sprinkle as a garnish. There's a nice nuttiness to it that they provide as a simple garnish. Spicy Tuna Poké: 4.0/5 This item was alright. The flavor was also really good, but I did get tired of eating just one type of poke protein. Typically when I go to get poke, it's 2 to 3 scoops of different proteins with various sauces to change up the flavor. I did get tired of this one after a few bites. The flavor of this item was very good though. There's a nice kick from it and the flavor tastes like a mix of kewpie mayo, soy sauce, sriracha, and sugar. Very simple, but you can't go wrong with those flavors. For the side, they added seaweed salad. Again, not your average side dish. Personally, I enjoyed it, but it might not be a common or familiar side dish for other individuals. It has a nice sweetness and nuttiness to it. For texture, there's a nice bite to it, which is ncie since the tuna is very soft and doesn't contribute much to the texture component. Menu: Small Their menu seems quite limited, but again, that is normal for a food truck, I believe. The items they provide do it just fine for me. I appreciate that they also have an option for the vegetarians. The menu we were provided was limited to 4 items, which is fine since the scale of this party wasn't anything too wild and we were able to satisfy everyone with what they provided. --------- Quality: Alright The quality of the food seems OK. It came out within a few minutes for us and I don't think it takes just a few minutes to fry that piece of chicken. I could be wrong though, so no one quote me on that. Just an observation. Not the highest expectations because their limited to the space and area in general. The product they provide is very good though. Overall, for something that has raw seafood in it, it seemed quite fresh and tasty. The items aren't made to order either and it's more assemble and serve to order, but again, they seem to be making it work with the product that they are selling. Price: Estimated Because this was a catering event, I am actually unaware of how much my administrator paid for the food. What I know is that she paid for a certain amount of bowls. From the looks of this item though, I want to estimate the price of each bowl being around $16 to $20 depending on the food item provided. Seems quite average for a bowl of food these days. Service: Quick and fast Because most of the food is already prepared and ready, the interaction with them itself is very limited. They took our order and provided us with the food. Nothing too significant to note and that is to be expected with the food truck. They were very sweet though and explained the menu items to be when I had a question. Ambiance: Simple and cute food truck The design on their food truck is so cute. The riceball is my favorite because it has this very cute face and just looks darling to me. The outside has a simple design with the name and logo on top and then perhaps some of the food items they provide written on the bottom section of the truck. Doesn't seem like anything too fancy, but simplicity is best for me. Location/Parking: Wherever they travel and navigate to Because they're a food truck, they can drive to you, which is really convenient. On Yelp, it states that their located on 36 Commercial Street in downtown, which might be where their truck is serving most of the time. Again, it is a food truck though, so they have the ability to drive to you and travel around to their customers, which is quite convenient is reaching a broader group of people.

Interestingly enough the beef was the kind of beef in beef and broccoli, marinated and tenderized with corn starch, instead of the typical Hawaiian bbq beef slices. There was a deceptive amount of meat in this, it's definitely a solid portion. I almost wish there were more potatoes lol. The curry itself was just ok.
