I ordered take out, two Hawaiian BBQ Mix and substituted the mac salad for fresh mixed salad for an additional 25 cents each. (Just trying to be healthier) The chicken was very tender and packed with flavor. Loved the short ribs, a bit sweet but very savory. The beef was okay, usually a hit or miss it, sometimes its very juicy and tender, other times it is a bit dried out. The beef sliced thin, so it is easy to overcook. On the side near the soda machines you can fill up your own teriyaki and katsu sauce. They have small cups and lid for you take out. For me, one teriyaki and one katsu sauce was enough for a plate. The meat is already flavorful so I didn't need to overly sauce it. If it is your first time here, I recommend the Hawaiian BBQ plate that way you get to try a bit of each. "Buyer Be Ware", After eating the Island white fish 3 times, at Ono, I find out that the Island white fish is really "Swai" farm raised from Vietnam. It is loaded with bacteria and chemicals, and is not recommended for consumption. It is a catfish or bottom feeder. Research says to stay away from this farm raised fish in polluted waters (Mekong Delta). It is a Southwest Asian catfish. It is farmed in Vietnam under unsafe conditions and imported to the US. Most other dishes at Ono are acceptable, but this is disgusting. read more

Came to ono for the first fast food of the new year (2025) ! What a disappointment!! No wonder it was empty inside at lunch time. L&L's service might not be on point but at least they give you plenty of food in their mini bowls. Everytime I've gone to L&L, it's always been packed and it's because people want the amount of food that is expected. These Hawaiian bbq places have always given plentiful amounts of portions. If they one day decide to put less, people will also stop going there. Unfortunately I won't return to Ono ever again. The portion size isn't great. Taste is always 8/10. Food looks boring and the chicken always tastes like they cooked it in the morning. Chicken takes a little while to cook, and my food always comes out in like 3 minutes when I come to Ono. I had a BOGO free plate coupon from a recent Yelp elite event expiring soon so we decided to try the rest of the meats today. We ordered the kalua combo under Island Favorites and chose the katsu chicken to pair with it. We also chose the island fire chicken aloha plate for the free plate. The island fire chicken is pretty spicy but the slight sweetness adds great flavor. The aloha plate comes with rice on the bottom of the meat and a good amount of salad mix (has edamame, sesame seeds, shredded cabbage, onions, and other sliced vegetables slathered with a delicious house dressing sauce). The katsu chicken on the other plate lunch was a bit plain and the breading seemed kind of stale. The kalua pork has a smoky flavor but otherwise not as salted/seasoned as I would have liked. It comes with mostly cabbage on the bottom and some broccoli pieces. When I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ mix (BBQ beef, chicken, and kalbi short ribs) during the Yelp elite event, the meat was so much more flavorful and tender. First- we go here a lot since my son loves their fish. We order maybe once every few weeks. Always fresh and service is great. For his third birthday, we ordered catering. We did their 12 person meal with bbq chicken, katsu chicken, rice, Mac salad. We added ribs and fried shrimp. It was made on-time, accurate and came in really nice boxes for carry out. This is my go-to place for Hawaiian bbq! The portion sizes are ALWAYS so generous and I love their teriyaki sauce--it's a very clean and sweet soy sauce taste! I never feel icky or grossed out eating their sauce. The bbq meat portions were nice and hot and the meat was easy to chew! I usually don't like to eat Hawaiian bbq because the meat can be tough and chewy, which makes me feel like the meat is old. In Ono's case, the meat was lovely! My BBQ mix came with Korean bbq, barbecued chicken, and BBQ beef! If you like their macaroni salad, you can ask them to substitute your rice for all Mac! It also appears that they have a $10 bonus for any $30+ gift card purchased until June 30th! Sadly, the chicken teriyaki looked alright opening the box, but each piece tasted thoroughly burnt and was also incredibly salty. The teriyaki sauce from the self serve tastes fine. Katsu was just alright, nothing lnl hasn't matched or beaten before. Chicken feels sparing, flat and overcooked. The panko crust was too hard, dry, and thick. I have co -workers here at the BMO bank that get discounts 50% and just came to your location 30 min prior to me and the employee was given 50% off their food . I came in also with my name badge from BMO as well and paid full price. We really should not discriminate and give only people we feel like discounts. So I ate the chicken katsu alone first and it was bland, completely flavorless to me. The chicken as well as the batter were bland. There were 2 sauces, a darker sauce (pictured on the right) and a lighter sauce (pictured on the left). The darker sauce was way too sweet and thicker. The lighter sauce was a lot better, it had a slight tang and a hint of spiciness, that sauce made the chicken katsu way better. The lighter sauce gave chicken katsu so much life! I'm normally not a big creamy food person, so creamy mac is too creamy for me. I could only tolerate about 2-3 small bites, if you like creamy then this mac is for you. Bottom line: It was decent.
