Stopped in to Order a Hot Coffee to get us down the road.. My friend got his favorite Mocha to keep him Wide Awake. I ordered a large hot White Mocha Latte. Yum, Very Tasty. Victoria was our Friendly Server ~ Service was kinda quick. It was quite busy but it was a Clear and Cold Saturday night on the Eve of Daylight Savings Time so people were out on the sidewalks and crossing the streets to get themselves to where they were heading to tonight. Better Buzz Carlsbad Village is my new go-to pre-walk pup stop. Pup cup and latte time. I specifically want to give a shout out to the best bark-ristas Carol and Brooke, they are both so sweet to my pup, Carol and Brooke always seem to recommend me great drinks and are very attentive to my customizations such as 1/3 sweet. Food and coffee was really good. Nice quality and well caffeinated latte. We tried the vanilla and caramel latte and the banana pudding latte was to die for! We sat outside and it was very nice and mellow. Could work on their customer service. The cashier was quite rude and seemed as if she did not want to be there. This place is buzzingly busy! Try eu do a pretty good jab at keeping up with all the orders. I got a Carmel vanilla late with oat milk and it's quite good. It was the perfect temperature and the has a good strong flavor. It's a cute shop with outdoor seating so a nice spot to meet up with a friend. The service here was amazing, I've recently been coming to the Carlsbad Village every other morning for quite some time and have stopped at this location quite a few times. Better buzz is a staple coffee stop when in SD county. Love the location of this spot. Right in the heart of downtown Carlsbad across the oceanfront. Yes it's very central and can get very busy. Came on a Sunday morning and wow it was a 30-40 min wait for your cup of Joe. Tip, order ahead online! The most recent time we went the two drinks we got were insanely disappointing especially for the hefty price. I ordered the blended peppermint white mocha buzz and it lacked any taste of peppermint or white mocha. It was half melted and nearly $9 which was insane. My boyfriend got the candy cane best drink ever buzz and it was horrible. The whole drink was icey and unblended and lacked any flavor and was incredibly expensive. He was disappointed to have paid $8 for essentially pieces of ice in a cup. We normally love better buzz but this experience was really disappointing and not worth the money. Had a pretty substandard visit today. While I certainly understand and have empathy for a rush on a busy Sunday afternoon, today I did not have a good visit. They took my order for two drinks but forgot to make the second. Naturally this happens on busier days, and I certainly get it and don't hold any grudges. But they inconveniently lost my order and in their attempt to rectify they rushed to make a drink that was not my missing one. While it may not be a big deal, I do believe that if you're a coffee shop, you should know how to properly take orders. I was disappointed because I generally love Better Buzz, and just had a wonderful visit to the one in San Diego by Snapdragon last weekend. Maybe the location of this one is hard to maintain quality or atmosphere, so, that's on me. I just plan on rethinking my options for coffee by the coast the next time I'm in the area. read more

The things I love: literally everything that comes from this place. Their drinks are delicious, their espresso is on point, their interior design is immaculate, their location is excellent. The thing I despise: the lids on their espresso cups. This morning I dumped an entire espresso over myself and my car because their lids practically hover over the rim of the cup. No bite, no grab, nothing. I'm not a clumsy person and now my entire car smells of espresso. Don't count on those lids to hold ANYTHING back. Giving 2 stars instead of one because we enjoyed our drinks, but overall this place sucks. There were multiple women working here who didn't acknowledge us as we were standing in there looking at the menu. This was our first time in here and we didn't immediately notice the stupid screen sitting on the counter that you have to use to place your order and the ladies sure did not take anytime to notice us standing there waiting for them to take our order or explain how to order. But we figured that part out and ordered 2 drinks and 2 meals. My husband ordered the Mexican mocha and I got the dirty chai, both were good. As some of the other reviews mentioned, his drink came out pretty quick, mine came out 15 minutes later with the food. We were the only ones waiting on food and drinks. For the food - we both got the "better breakfast" and there was NOTHING "better" about it. They are basically egg and bacon sandwiches on a brioche bun with some garlic aioli. The buns were very dry and did not feel soft. The garlic aioli was tasty but it was just a small dollop that was underwhelming and didn't help the dryness. The bacon was fatty and gross. And the icing on the cake was the hair my husband found on his! Gross. The other thing that really drives me nuts is everything is served in disposable materials which is so wasteful, and it's not the compostable kind or paper/cardboard. I understand a lot of the coffee shops serve their drinks in the disposable cups which is at least nice to be able to take with you if you don't finish it while eating. But the sandwiches came in plastic containers. The menu/ordering system asks if you're dining in or taking out and even if you choose "dining in" you will still get served with what becomes trash. Being located right across the street from the ocean and benefiting from our beach community, they should care more about their waste. And the kicker with this is all of the photos on their menu and website show glass cups and metal trays! I hate these places that use plastic crap and saw the photos on the menu before coming here, so I was pretty disappointed to see that they seem to care about how their food and drinks look in their photos, but not for the customers actually ordering them. We spent over $40 to be served crappy food on trash while receiving the bare minimum service by having to order on a screen, pick up our food at the counter, and throwing everything away afterwards. So no, we didn't tip. Everyone writing negative reviews seem to be mentioning Starbucks to go to instead, but I hope anyone else reading this will consider the many other better options in the village that are locally owned and are all walking distance with much better services! For coffee shops, go check out baba cafe, vinaka, or sleeping tiger. If you want breakfast, the restaurant right next door to better buzz called cafe elysa is far better. And if you want a breakfast sandwich that you will actually enjoy, go to crackheads! In summary, better buzz was a BUZZ KILL. I miss cessy's which is what better buzz replaced. Love the happy yellow vibes this place gave me. I took a look at the menu and I just had to get an iced snickerdoodle with oat milk. The staff was quite friendly.
