Tried it out in a whim after seeing all the Grand Opening signs. Atmosphere-wise, I feel like somehow this place managed to be possibly more corporate and lame than Starbucks (although the coffee was better.) As I pull into the parking lot, there is a sign twirler for Better Buzz on the street corner. Balloons everywhere. There is a giant inflatable coffee cup on the roof of the building. As I walk in from the parking lot there's some sort of Walmart-greeter type person in the entryway. Her job: smile and say "hi." Weird, but whatever... You walk in and you are immediately facing a big wall of merchandise; t-shirts, mugs, etc. That's the first thing you see. All of it unoriginal; little thought put into to. "Live, laugh, love" type stuff. The music is loud; it's pop-"indie" rock of some kind. You can't talk to the person next to you without raising your voice. The interior design is slick but no charm. Again you've seen this look 1,000 times already; the tile backsplash and floating shelves. You're in the Panera of coffee shops. I get to the front of the line and order a traditional machiatto. I ask the cashier to confirm that it will be a true machiatto--i.e. two shots of espresso, about 4 oz total. Blank stare. She has no idea. Checks with manager. Confirms. The baristas appear to all be high-school age teens. Every so often one of them yells something (a word--I can't hear it over the emo music) and the rest of the baristas all repeat/yell it back. Clearly this is not necessary for the operations; rather, someone thought it would give the place a lively vibe. It doesn't. It is not cute or charming. The baristas are all wearing the same teal shirts. They're all working hard but like trained monkeys on an assembly line. There's no La Marzocco espresso machine here; everything seems to be assembly line; pre-prepped machine-measured doses, etc. It's hard to describe; there's just nothing authentic about the place. It all feels so automated, calculated and forced. The machiatto came out in a reasonable amount of time and was pretty good quality, but the overall experience was: the customer's resistance to patronage is a problem that can be solved by algorithms, focus group data, and slick processes. read more

Service was good, I came to study and my only critique is that the music is way too loud. The music choice is also distracting. Maybe consider lofi beats, r&b, or some softer music instead of the very poppy overstimulating music y'all gotta going on. If not, please at least consider lowering the volume down. I did have to grab the earplugs in my car so I could concentrate. Even then i could still hear the music clearly. I ordered the regular lavender tea latte with almond milk which was good, but on the sweeter side. If you're overstimulated easily maybe consider the drive thru, and studying somewhere else. But other than that everything was great read more

I went to a new doctor today in San Clemente. I live in Mission Viejo. The ENT doctor recommended me this coffee place when I asked where to go near his office. He said better than Starbucks. So I came here and had the VERY BEST experience. Ryan was helping me and gave great advice of food choices and coffee choices. He was very delightful and helpful, and you could tell he took pride in his work and enjoyed his job. That goes a very long way these days. Love Better Buzz coffee! However, this place is seriously lacking in customer service. As a retuning customer, it's frustrating that the person taking orders (a snarky redhead) can't get a simple order correct for her lack of attention and actually listening to the customer. I'd rather drive down another 30 miles to San Diego to get my Yogurt Bowl, Mint coffee and better service. read more

my friend and i came and got the pink dragon smoothie, bacon ciabatta sandwich, 3-seed avocado toast, and a dirty chai. the 3-seed avocado toast was a little burnt on the crust, and despite ordering dine-in, the toast came in a to-go box. this isn't a huge issue, i just wished the presentation was a little better. the bacon ciabatta was lacking bacon. there were only two small pieces on the whole sandwich. drinks were good though. super great atmosphere. read more

Came here on April 3rd with my friend around 4pm and the store was empty. Cashier was so unfriendly, came off very cold and as if she wished she was anywhere but there. I asked her what flavor the seasonal cupcake was and she said she has no idea. I said I'll go ahead and try it anyway and then she said she thinks it's pistachio flavor (spoiler alert, it was not). We then ordered 2 lavender tea lattes but when we got back in the car and tried it we were repulsed. We checked the drink label and it said espresso with lavender which wasn't what we ordered, but that espresso tasted so burnt it was actually gross. We went back in and there were now a couple people in line ordering and the cashier kept eyeing us because she knew something was wrong at this point. Once we got to the front we told her this is the wrong drink and she didn't say anything nice or apologetic. We then had to wait all over again, but even longer this time because now they're serving other people. Generally when a store messes up your order they push it to the front to remake asap but they didn't do that here. By the way, that seasonal muffin I ordered was coconut. Thankfully I like coconut so I enjoyed it, but a lot of people hate coconut so staff should really be aware of what they're serving, at least know what flavor the muffin is. I love better buzz, but this was my first time at this location and I won't be coming here again. Better Buzz in Laguna Hills actually has friendly staff who know what they're serving. Whoever that girl was who served us could use a lot more training on how to be welcoming as well as better informed on what the items are that they're selling. read more

I counted the days down until this place opened and have tried several drinks already! I can't even say which drink is my favorite because they're all so good and there's so much variety. The iced horchata latte (I get it with regular milk rather than almond) is great, the mint iced coffee is also very good, I could go on and on lol! The staff are very kind and welcoming too! This place is amazing. Love you that you can change it to less sweet or sweeter/ change out milks without an extra charge. Starbucks could never. Though shots are extra they're only a $1 half ALL competition around. Bright cherry layout definitely younger era targeted but welcoming to all. I love Better Buzz. Sadly the last 3 times that I've been here I have not been happy with my beverages. The first time I ordered a Mango refresher. It was very watered down. It did not taste like any fruit. The second time I ordered my usual (Lavender tea latte). Could not taste any lavender. The third time I ordered a vanilla bean latte.. no vanilla bean taste. I've had lavender tea lattes and vanilla bean lattes at other BB locations so I know what it's supposed to taste like. The third time I ordered I had to go back and say something. The staff was kind enough to remake my vanilla bean latte. I compared the two lattes which were made within minutes of each other. One drink was way darker than the other. BB San Clemente needs to be more consistent with their drinks. read more

Cute shop. Watched it be built and trained for months. Finally decided to drive through since I had a reward. Ordered my hazelnut divinity latte, one latte, asked for my reward number. Drove up, seemed like I was at the window forever, waited quite a few minutes before an employee even acknowledged I was there. Had my reward QR code ready but finally when an employee told me the price, I showed her my code and she said it looked like my rewards was already input. Well I was showing a discount reward NOT my earn points code so I didn't get my discount applied. Then she asked if I wanted a straw and I said yes, but I guess needing a straw was not normal procedure bcuz that took forever. I hate being that person in line that takes forever, but I was that person. The other reason I went through was bcuz I wanted to purchase a pink coffee mug but they didn't have any in stock I know there are wrinkles that need to get ironed out fora new business but the amount of business this shop has gotten since opening, seems like there's been plenty of practice to perfect customer service. read more
