The young woman told me to be careful because she just mopped. Looked over the menu, and decided on the Mexican latte. Jonesy just wanted a regular latte. I also bought some beans which she happily ground for me. She brought them out to the patio, which is a good size. The interior is spacious too! Both coffees hit the spot! Stopped here this morning on the way to Tijuana. I had already had too much caffeine so I opted to buy muffins for my friend and myself. The ambiance was great and the service was good too but let me tell ya, those muffins....they were overcooked and had the texture of sand in my mouth. It was so so dry. They were the pumpkin cinnamon. I do NOT recommend them! I wasted $13 on this sandy, saw-dusty pastries and I'm not happy about it...grrrrrrrr Wish I could have those dollars back to try something else as they were inedible. Glad I got to explore San Clemente. I found Zebra House on Yelp and had to experience it for a few reasons: 1. there's not a lot of coffee shops with drive thrus 2. this cafe sits solo, close to the Ralphs parking lot 3. there's indoor and outdoor seating; love that the indoor seating had a variety of seating arrangements - tables, booths, high chairs & tables and a sofa 4. their menu was enticing 5. they offer merch 6. their ambiance is comfy I only ordered a hot pecan dream. I definitely tasted the pecan with a hint of coffee and I prefer to taste more espresso in my lattes. This place has an ambience that is very well thought out and visually appealing. They also have a drive-through, which is very convenient. I had the iced chai, which was very strong. I also tried their street tacos, which I thought were too expensive for the small amount of food that you can get. $8 for two small tacos with very little meat/ topping. The coffee was ok but the star here is the breakfast burrito. It had eggs, tater tots!, cheese, and we opted for sausage. It was wrapped very nicely, compact, making it easy to eat without it bursting apart on a drive. Tater tots are a huge bonus! Delicious breakfast burrito, might try it with bacon next time. This coffee shop was clean and decorated so beautifully! The ambiance is spectacular! The customer service was amazing! I didn't get the name of the lady behind the counter but she was super nice! As a new mom, drive through options are so important. And I really appreciate this place being a healthier option. However, I have to agree with another review on here. Everything is just so inconsistent. Every time I go, I get a honey latte and a power bowl. The power bowl can take anywhere from 5-35 minute to be made regardless of how busy. And what left me to finally make this review is after driving away I pulled over to open the lid to my coffee that felt kinda empty to find this , my coffee half empty and tasting like water. Okay, I was not expecting a coffee shop to deliver one of the best veggie tacos I've had in a long time, but here we are. Zebra House Coffee, you surprised me in the best way. The taco came wrapped in foil, nothing fancy, but it was loaded with goodness. Fresh corn, zucchini, radish, onion, cilantro, a little crumble of cheese--super colorful and flavorful. The tortilla had that soft, slightly chewy texture I love, not greasy, and held together really well even with all those veggies stuffed in there. It tasted fresh. Like actually-fresh, not "been-sitting-in-a-steamer-tray" fresh. You could tell they put a little love into it, which is rare for a coffee spot that could've easily just phoned it in. Also, side note: I came in for a coffee (which was also solid) but ended up leaving a taco fan. Bottom line--if you're grabbing a drink at Zebra House, do yourself a favor and order the veggie taco. The worker I interacted with was super sweet, and was able to provide me with some popular recommendations. I ended up getting the strawberry matcha which was both very strawberry and matcha-y. It was a little bit on the sweeter side for me, but if you prefer sweet drinks, this is definitely a good choice! This coffee shop also has a drive through, and a whole food menu. This will be my last time coming to Zebra House. I've been a loyal customer since the beginning, which makes this disappointing to say. Over the years the quality has gone downhill. The coffee is inconsistent. It often tastes burnt or like hot coffee was poured over ice and watered down. The food has always been pretty average and tastes like Costco , which can be fine, but it needs to be done well. What really bothers me is the wait time. Even after expanding, the food somehow takes longer. I don't have 30 minutes to wait for a burrito or a salad. I wanted to keep supporting this place, but it's just not worth it anymore. read more

Extremely slow service, it took 40 mins for our burrito and bowl, she kept saying it would be right out but we continued to wait and wait and still nothing. We asked for vegan options and she suggested Power Bowl but it was filled with eggs. Not vegan! She was combative when we asked for a refund. If i could give this place no stars, i totally would. Ordered a caramel chai and an English muffin sandwich with added bacon and avocado. The food was oily, bacon undercooked. The chai was grainy and tasted cheaply made. On top of the poor food quality, you pay $20+ for this AND horrible customer service. We had ordered to go and it was brought out for here - the person working acted like it was such a chore to be helpful and just grab a to go box. They threw it at my boyfriend and were very disrespectful. Wouldn't recommend going here when you could get better food at even McDonald's in this case. Very disappointing and won't be back! I love Zebra House Coffee! Not only do they have delicious coffee, but they also have amazing food, a drive through and a super cute decor inside as well. I swear Zebra House has a little something for everyone. I personally love their iced tea, but they also have great lattes too. I also really like their muffin selection, and from what I understand, they were the original owner's family recipes. It's nice that they offer many gluten free options, and while I don't need to eat gluten free, I choose to for that delicious GF peanut butter cookie. It's so good! I also really enjoy their flatbreads, salads and sandwiches. Honestly, everything here is so yummy. I love that you have options to order ahead for pickup, drive through, or enjoy their beautiful interior or even patio. So many options. I ordered a lavender cloud tea, made with a fruity black tea. The lavender and black tea were subtle, so it tasted similar to a sweet flavored milk, but I found it really refreshing. Came here for breakfast since we had seen it the day prior and it was walking distance from our hotel. We walked in and it's a private big space and plenty of seating. They have a wide selection of food and drinks. I ordered a vanilla latte and a breakfast bagel sandwich with bacon and my husband ordered the protein bowl with quinoa and eggs and avocado and black beans . And a flat white coffee. Service is pretty good. My bagel sandwich was just ok it needed a sauce or spread of some kind. My husband enjoyed his dish. I have been to Zebra House many times. The drive thru service has always been more than exceptional. Inside tho, I have come across the same older lady who seems to play favorites and has an attitude with newcomers. The younger ladies on staff have always been a delight but the one older lady just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Zebra House Coffee was a pit stop on a road trip to San Diego. We ordered the banana chocolate chip muffin (vegan & gf), an iced soy latte, and the PB banana protein shake. In total these three items set us back $24 + tip (and alternative milk costs extra, boo). Muffin: 4/5 - pretty decent muffin. Extra points for being warm and having lots of chocolate chips! Not the best ever and I can make better at home but a good treat on the road. Iced soy latte: 2/5 - strange after taste that kept getting worse as I drank it, couldn't even finish it unfortunately (and that's really saying something). Not sure what happened there. PB banana protein shake: 4/5 - the shake is made with almond milk, banana, peanut butter powder, and Organic Protein plant-based protein powder. It has a slight cinnamon-y taste. Definitely enjoyed it but it's not worth $11. Restrooms, seating inside & out, free WiFi, and ability to order via kiosk (though I found it more helpful to order at the counter to be able to ask questions). They also have a drive through with two spots for waiting. The location is convenient as it's right off I-5 but it's also nothing special. The outside seating views are mostly of a parking lot. This spot has potential with the cozy vibes inside and outside seating, but I wouldn't return again (too many other coffee shops around to check out!). read more

Major points for being open on Easter. Massive deduction for charging $1.04 for a cup of water, for a dog. Yes, there was tax on the cup of water... For the dog. However, there were 2 cups for the flat white. That pretty much killed it for me. It seemed silly to feel that way but this was expensive, and as mentioned above, the flat white was in two cups. One of them could have been used for water. No charge. Something so small became big. On the bright side. The burrito was huge with scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon bits and, inexplicably, tater tots. In the burrito. There were plenty of eggs, cheese, and bacon bits. The tater tots were squishy, soggy and added nothing. They had a bit of a kick, which is too bad because I couldn't really eat them, as prepared. They might've been terrific on the side. Not sure why I was given chips and salsa. Came with the meal. They're fine. Not necessary but OK. Would I come back? Probably. However, almost $19 for a small flat white, a huge breakfast burrito and a cup of water for a dog is steep. Let's face it. I am stuck on the double cup for the flat white and paying for another cup, The muffins, cookies, etc. looked delicious and inviting. My flat white was perfect. Yay! That was lovely.
