For a Better Buzz, this is the worst experience ever. Every other Better Buzz does a great job. This location not so much, especially if it's the weekend. They do fine if it's just a few cars and walk ups but not more than that. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE. You will waste over an hour of your life. Update: Business hours for this place were updated after my review to clarify that they open at 6am and not 530am as it previously advertised. I began coming here religiously about a month ago and I mean religiously... at least 5 times a week, sometimes every day. I love that they open early and I can get my coffee before my kids wake up! However, last Sunday, I came at 5:35am and no one spoke thru the intercom. I drove up to the window and the two employees in there made eye contact with me but didn't open the window to greet me. Anytime I start my day out with a cup of Better Buzz coffee it's going to be a GREAT day. Both locations, San Marcos and Encinitas shops make great cups of coffee. The Encinitas location is more of a sit-down shop, where as San Marcos location is a drive through and straight to the point, I neeeed that coffee and I ain't got time to stay! This morning I order the Honey Latte. Sooooooo good!! It is on the sweet side, so be prepared. The regular coffee here is also great. This is the closest thing to me that isn't Starbucks so I always go here and I'm easily over $200+ screwed over. They get my order wrong 80% of the time and if there was something closer, I'd go somewhere else. After today, I'm definitely not going back again. They should have pre-set measurements for sweetness and consistency in their espresso. I've loved this place as soon as I discovered it. All their staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and fun. Love every one. My only negative is they change up some of their menu items to frequently to the point they don't even carry the ingredients to make them any way. My first drink I ever ordered from them was a macadamia nut/coconut latte. But too soon they stopped carrying the macadamia nut syrup. Then I loved the coconut/ mocho buzz. But they stopped offering it and it is often made incorrectly when i request substitutions. Then recently woke up to a great text announcing their cinnamon cold cream cold brew. Literally drove all the way to San Marchos with my roommate to get it. We immediately LOVED IT! and then too soon, they stopped providing it. They offer a coconut cold cream cold brew as a substitution which is ok for me but my roommate doesn't like coconut. Their customer service at this location is like none other especially in todays society where customer service has slowly gone out the window. Always a great experience coming here! The drive thru line is long during peak hours but it's definitely worth it!! The coffee will definitely get you buzzing and keep you wanting more! My go to is definitely the iced Best Drink Ever! During the Holidays, I like ordering the Peppermint White Mocha and the Peppermint Matcha. Their acai bowls are also worth a try! Seven times out of ten of going to this location they get my order wrong. It's a simple Mexican hot chocolate but I almost always get it as a mocha. We are not from the area but we were close to here picking up some breakfast and also wanted some coffee so decided to give this place a try. The portion was great, especially that day for us because we were going to Legoland. The taste was soo yummy. I got a kind of a latte, and it was just strong enough, not too sweet, creamy, and just really good. it was iced, and it wasn't too full with ice, so there was plenty of coffee in there and I wish there was one where we lived. The baristas were not friendly, and even though there were so many of them, they were very disorganized and super slow. They seemed to care more about the long drive-thru line than the few of us waiting outside the shack for our drinks. When drinks did appear on the bar, none of us knew whose was whose, especially me, since they got my order wrong. I told the girl, "this isn't what I ordered" and her blank stare made me uncomfortable. I sheepishly took the drinks they made me and left... I had the best possible experience at Better Buzz San Marcos today! Where do I even begin? Their Covid protocol and friendliness is spot on! Though the lines can get long they figured out the best way to maximise the space and utilise what is around them. I pulled up and ordered my drinks and acai Bowles from the staff working the line. I watched as each and every car drove away with a smile on their faces. The drive through employees Kevin and Shaye were SO NICE! Instead of rushing along like most drive through expierences they stopped, made eye contact, and said good morning. It was a truly beautiful human expierence in such a busy fast paced world. I ordered my drink from Kevin and he was AMAZING. The dude gave me some of the best coffee suggestions Though lines get long I watched as the staff on bar Roger and Daisy hustled. Truly putting their heart and soul into each and every drink they made. Waiting curbside the nicest employee Yazmin served me my drinks and wow! She served them all with a smile that just added to the magical expierence. This place honestly has been a big disappointment in my experience. I don't know what else to say. I've given them a few chances, but probably won't be getting coffee here again. It seems as though they hire people who are apathetic and simply not naturally friendly folks. Aside from that, when they got a very simple order wrong today, I went back to the window to ask for the add on of simple syrup, they seemed annoyed and acted as though I was very bothersome when in fact I went out of my way to be kind and soft spoken. Excellent little coffee shop. Plenty of parking, always lots of people but service is relatively quick. Convenient location with drive-thru and plenty of outdoor seating. I'm not a coffee drinker, but they have plenty of drinks other than coffee. Tons of teas to choose from and even hot chocolate! I always get the classic açaí bowl. It includes yummy açaí topped with fresh cut fruit honey and granola. Always fills me up and tastes spectacular on a hot summer day. Flaws- everything is very pricey. As much as I love the place, I have to control my addiction by only treating myself to it once a week due to the overly high prices. Tucked away in a strip mall in San Marcos, this location is better than Pacific Beach. Even if there are 5 or 6 cars in line, it doesn't block traffic. Unfortunately it took exactly 30 minutes to receive our drinks. The drive thru line wrapped the entire parking lot, so I decided to walk up to the window. There were only a few people waiting, so I figured it wouldn't be too bad. 20 minutes later (after the two sets of two people who ordered after me got their drinks) I double checked on the status of my drinks - I was informed it was in the queue and would be out soon. At this point I wished we had gone through the drive thru - it was much faster than walking up. It started to drizzle and another couple who ordered well after me received their order. I asked again this time informing them it had been a full half hour - I finally got my two iced coffees. Not sure why it took so long? Drinks were good - service was beyond slow. I have never really been a fan of Better Buzz, but I do find it a better alternative to Starbucks because I feel better supporting local businesses. This kiosk is very convenient if you need something quick before work. And so did not have many choices when I needed to complete some work in San Marcos. I choose to get the honey, mocha, or Mexican mocha lattes all iced here. I feel that is a good choice for me so that I do not have to taste how much of bad quality their espresso truly is. So if you love espresso like me, I recommend against any of the hot drinks containing espresso. The syrups/sugars and ice provide a nice combo to mask the sub-par espresso. It's summer anyways so getting iced lattes here is fine by me. I also have never had a good pastry experience at any Better Buzz location. I don't know if it is just my bad luck, but whenever I get a pastry at Better Buzz, it does not taste fresh. read more

I came here with my sister on a Saturday afternoon and it was a little busy so we had to wait about 15 minutes for our drink. I recommend parking and ordering at the window if you can, the drive-thru line was packed and the plaza is very small. We got "The Best Drink Ever," which consists of a classic americano coffee with vanilla syrup. It was pretty good! It was a little too sweet but not as sweet as an iced coffee at McDonalds. It honestly tasted like a higher quality version of McD's vanilla iced coffee. It was a good drink but I don't think it was worth $4. read more
