These are the best bagels I've had on the West Coast. Fresh, soft, and chewy! I'm here every two weeks for my hair cut down the block and I stop to get my bagel. Staff here are always friendly, even on busy weekend days, they greet me and even remember my name. The coffee shop has a chill vibe to it. There's seating along the windows at a counter top and 3 tables to sit at inside. On those busy mornings the parking lot can be full but there's street parking all around the shop. Don't let it stop you from enjoying a delicious bagel and coffee from 1802 Roasters. Only good thing at this place is the coffee. The service was bland, cost extreme vs the low quality of bagel, ingredients, and execution. $25 for a BF bagel with microwaved sausage and eggs, and an Americano. The Yum Yum donuts down the way executes a better BF bagel at 1/3 of the cost. Also the little things matter, for example the coffee cups had no logo, at $5 a pop you should at least invest in a rubber stamp with your logo. read more

Excellent bagels, the best I've found in Northeast Los Angeles. In fact, these are some of the only bagels in Los Angeles that are close to being an authentic New York bagel. Unfortunately, most places in LA, and especially the ones in the Northeast, are made with sourdough, a real disappointment. We call them fagels, for "fake bagels." Don't get me wrong, the sourdough bagels are not bad, but they basically serve as bread for open-faced sandwiches and are not enticing on their own. They just don't have that "bagel" taste. So, thank you Saint Raf for not following the misguided sourdough trend and doing a pretty darn good job of making an authentic New York bagel. Hands down THE BEST bagel spot in LA and buy have i tried A LOT. Cherry pomegranate espresso tonic 1000/10 a nice suggestion from the Barista..thanks babe!!!! Tomato and cucumber on everything bagel sandwhich and on a sesame, again 10000/10 it hit all flavor profiles. Wow wow wow. Those pickled cumbers were such a nice suprise and an essential kick to my taste buds they seed the entire bagle and not just the top !!!like 90% of bagel spots only seed tops ! Atmosphere was so chill and aestetically well rounded. I loved all the reclaimed woods used around the bar. Seeing the plants thriving in natural sunlight. The $8 orange juice and $7.50 everything bagel with lox spread (with no lox). Needless to say the orange juice was overpriced but the bagel was pretty basic. I asked for our bagels to be lightly toasted but my bagel was burnt and the burnt garlic & onion pieces were extremely bitter (which was pretty gross), I spoke to an employee about it there was no offer to rectify the situation. Also the everything bagel was a little spicy for our kids. Our kids commented on how the lox spread had no lox in it and it just tasted like salty cream cheese. We usually go to NY Bagels in West Los Angeles which we've never had issues with burnt or spicy bagels. read more

Once, when I was visiting Long Island with my boyfriend a few years ago, his family took me to their local favorite bagel shop. I had an east coast bagel and my eyes were opened: the crust was very thin and crispy, its inside light and fluffy. I'll never forget that combo... it was very distinct from the west coast bagels I'd eaten, even the "good" ones. Even the ones supposedly made with imported Brooklyn water, etc. It's hard to explain unless you've truly experienced it. Saint-Raf Bagels is the closest bagel I've found to that east coast bagel. One of my favorite spots for bagels in LA. They have a good variety of schmears, my favorite combo is their lox cream cheese on a toasted salt and pepper bagel. It takes a moment for them to toast the bagels but it's so worth it. They sell out on weekends, so you have to go early or go on a weekday :) The shop can be a good work environment as it has quite a bit of counter and table space. Parking is abundant in the area and they have their own lot. read more

Every time I come here staff is unpleasant. Two separate times I came in walked up to the register staff just looked at me. So I greeted her and continued placing my order. Most recently it was an older women with hair that is a washed out red orange color. I've worked in the service industry so I just assumed it was an off day for them. The options are classic except for the ube cream cheese and the five spice cream cheese. Single bagels are $3 each. Options: Plain, Sesame Seed, Poppy Seed, Salt & Pepper, Everything, Onion I wasn't asked if I wanted the bagel toasted or not. It came untoasted. Whitefish salad on poppyseed bagel ($13): generous amount of a simple but tasty whitefish salad, thick slice of tomato, pickled red onions, capers, and a bit of dill. The tomato, capers, dill, and pickled onions kept falling off (it was open face). Tasty, very simple though. The bagel was on the larger, thicker side with a nice chewiness and lots of poppyseeds. Not too airy or too dense. Egg salad on poppyseed bagel ($10.75): simple but fresh egg salad with a thick tomato slice, dill, salt & pepper. It was good but simple. Order at the same counter you'd order coffee from. Saint-Raf was named one of Best Bagels in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Times. read more

$15 for a bagel with hair in it. couldn't even finish it. It was an entire strand too. They never answer their phone I swear one time we called 10 times in a row and they didn't answer. The hair in it today was the last straw definitively won't be coming back. The bagels are good but not worth it if this is what we get for an overpriced bagel. the bagels are always burnt as well. we thought maybe that was just how they are even when we ask for lightly toasted. now looking at other reviews I see we aren't the only ones complaining about that. For those of us who are looking for a local solid bagel, this is the one. On a fine weekend morning did I walk in to the smell of fresh bagels. No frills, no bells and whistles. Coffee and bagels. I got their lox bagel, just like I used to in my local deli from before, and wow, it has a crispy exterior and light and chewy interior. I actually prefer this over a traditional dense bagel and this is probably the only place that makes it like this? I think it's nice because you don't feel like you're getting a huge ratio of carbs-to-filling, whether the filling is lox and schmear or just schmear. I also have GI issues and it didn't make my gut feel super bad. Workers were nice. I also left with another sesame bagel. It's expensive, but I also used to work in food service, so if they're using quality ingredients, my gut was definitely thankful for that. read more

The place was cute / vibey. Plenty of space to sit both inside and outside. I ordered the Smoked Salmon + Cream Cheese sandwich, toasted. Overall, it was a decent sandwich. The taste did not match up with the $15 dollar price tag. Plus I left a 15% tip so I paid close to $18 for this sandwich. A previous review was left talking about the staff. I will agree that the staff was not inviting or enthusiastic. Barely cracked a smile at you. Staff looked poorly groomed (messy/uncombed hair and they were wearing what appeared to be pajama-type clothing). Unprofessional, IMO. With that said, when I received my bagel, I requested to have it "cut in half" and the employee said "Okay, but it'll be a minute" as she was finishing up a coffee order. Once done, she walked over to the bagel station, stood there talking to another employee for a few minutes while my bagel sat on the counter. They carried on and chatted and when the giggles finally wore off, only then did the employee pick up a knife to cut it in half. It was rewrapped and brought back to me. It felt that it took too much effort for the employee to properly hand it back to me and say "Thank You" as this employee lazily slid the bagel onto the counter and walked away. I didn't catch her name but it was Friday, 9/13 at 11am. She was in a green crop top. Maybe she was having an off day, but crappy attitudes can unfortunately ruin a decent spot. read more

If i could rate 0 i would. Another gentrified spot that leads you straight into their pricy trap. Not to mention the attitude the younger staff had. This might've been their first job that was probably handed to them, no excuse for poor service. Went there and one of them very obviously judged me for getting extra cream cheese...it was gross by how rude she was. I was hoping after all that the bagel would be okay but you have better luck going to your local spot that won't charge you $25 for two things. As soon as i left I knew I would leave a review. Four stars 4 1/2 stars five stars I think they are appropriate but only for the quality of the bagels. Very good bagels for Los Angeles. But management or ownership should talk to their employees about their attitude and unfriendly demeanor. For God sake you're serving bagels and coffee the morning. Being friendly in a service business, especially the food industry doesn't cost anything. They may actually deserve the tip that they ask for automatically.
