When being seated, I was impressed that the hostess asked, "sun or shade" after I chose outdoor seating for lunch. Started with Lobster croquettes. They were amazing and delicious. The outside was super crunchy. The inside was creamy. The squid ink sauce was mild. I did not taste any lobster, but they were still good. Croque madame fantastic. The egg was perfectly cooked on top. A good amount of ham. So much flavor. Bread a good texture. Crème brûlée for dessert hit the spot. And it had so many berries on top that it eased any guilt. Came back for breakfast. I got a cappuccino and the cornflake pancakes- yummy! I see why they are a popular favorite. I also got some granola and yogurt. Too much food but delicious! I was staying at the Grand Bohemian and decided to have dinner at between the trees for my birthday. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't that great. I had the Elk Carpaccio as an appetizer. A couple of people recommended it to me. I wasn't impressed. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't anything special. For my entries I had the duck. It was...not great. First off I was expecting either duck breast or a leg. It was chopped duck with pieces of skin (that was supposed to be crispy but weren't) on top. There was a slaw salad and apple butter on the plate along with some sort of sauce. The composition of the plate in my opinion was a hot mess. The duck did taste ok. But the slaw, sauce, and butter were all over the place. It was just not that great of a meal. My server while nice enough, seemed rushed or overwhelmed. She didn't seem to know much about the menu and when ask questions about various entrees her responses were "oh it's good." No elaboration or guidance regarding the menu. The restaurant itself is nice and I can see why people would recommend it. But I was just not impressed. Ironically enough the table next to me ordered two steaks and they mentioned their steaks weren't that good and were super salty. When going back to Greenville and staying at the Lodge, I won't be eating at this restaurant. I would recommend others in the area! read more

Came here for our anniversary and it did not disappoint. Simon our server was fantastic. We had a wonderful mushroom appetizer which was plentiful and delicious. We both had the bison fillet, oh my! So tender, zero fat, tender and flavorful. We also got the sweet potato mash and the brussels sprouts, which were delicious. The house manager came over to greet us and wish us a happy anniversary. We were treated to a wonderful complementary dessert, the chocolate mousse. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant, probably one of the best we've been to in Greenville. Will be back for sure. I seriously don't know what to say, this may have possibly been the worst meal of my life. I'm 51 and went to Bootcamp and have never had a worse meal. Let's start with the service....our server was nice, but not very professional. Apologized for the wait blaming it on the fact they just gave her 4 tables. Next we ordered the prawn appetizer and when it arrived it smelled like a mixture of feet and cat food. Both my wife and I took a bite and looked at each other and spit it out. Good God that was the worst thing I have ever put in my mouth and I have put a 9 volt battery on my tongue. My wife had the red fish and it was mediocre at best. I had the pork shank and it was just fine. Our bill was over $200 dollars and I feel completely ripped off especially since I was up in the middle of the night vommiting. I'm assuming it was the prawn dish. Thank God our trip to Greenville was saved with a fabulous dinner at Coral the next night and it was $50 cheaper with two appetizers and a dessert. This review is difficult for me because I wanted to love this! If I had to rate the architecture and the ambiance alone this would be a five star review. If I was doing a review on our waitress alone it would be a four star review. She was great, but she had too many tables and not enough time. She was running in and out from outside to inside between multiple tables at once and every table had 2 to 6 people. Keep in mind that if you do valet parking they are charging you quite a bit for it. For two hours it cost me $16.00 and some change. We arrived a few minute's before our reservation and were told that we could not be seated until 5pm exactly. Something about corporate regulations. We were seated at a beautiful table inside the dining room overlooking one of the decks. It was a very nice location inside the restaurant, but the first course ruined the rest of the experience for me. There is honestly nothing worse than paying that much money for two people to eat and getting the worst salad I have ever eaten. I've had Wendy's salads better than that, even my husband who is a proud member of the clean plate club didn't finish it. My husband ordered the red fish, he greatly enjoyed it. It was very good, very tender, very well seasoned. It was paired well with all of its sides. I ordered the trout and instead of asparagus I chose carrots. The trout had zero flavor. It was as bland as bland can be. I don't know if it was an off night or if that's just how their trout is served. If it is, that's their prerogative. I for one will never order that again. Their bourbon list is extensive but overpriced. Some of the pours on their list are the same price if not double than MSRP on the bottle. Even Halls doesn't charge that much. They do not offer any mocktails but if you ask nicely they will make you one. This is an item that should be added to their menu because not everyone consumes alcohol. Their baklava cheesecake is delicious but, should be served with a knife. Because it is very difficult to cut through with a fork. It was by far the best thing I ate all night. For the cost of the evening, I was expecting a little more high end and a little less run of the mill. One would think for those prices that they would offer a better experience. I honestly don't know if we will ever come back to this restaurant. As neither of us were raving about anything. read more

Yall, for the price and atmosphere of this place, you would think the service would be good. I have been here twice and both times the service wasn't good. First time was brunch with a friend. The food was good but it was obvious the server had no knowledge of the menu. She was asking me if I wanted this or that and said it was included with my grits when it clearly wasn't. Then she came back and said it wasn't included which I knew. My friend got a latte almost 20 mins later and it was half full. Second time it was weird. We had reservations at 1145 bc that's the earliest they can do any reservations. But when we got there at 1130 when they opened, they were seating people that didn't have a reservation before us. Service was bad, she kept saying she would get us more drinks but never did. It was like pulling teeth. My husband got the salmon and I got the burger. My burger was not fresh and obviously frozen and it was overcooked bad! When we were ready to pay, I had a gift card to use. When I showed it to her, she said that they can't accept gift cards. Even though this gift card was for the Kessler group which is part of the bohemian. So I could use it at the restaurant, hotel, spa, etc. She said they couldn't use it because they didn't have a machine to scan it. Weird. Thank goodness I had the credit card receipt that my friend included with it to show her I had $50 on it. She said a manager would just comp the check for $50 and they will "discard" the gift card. Again very strange. As much as you pay to eat here, you would think they would be able to figure out how to use their own gift cards! read more

Came here for dinner late Saturday night and it was absolutely amazing. The ambience was quite lovely, there was an upscale vibe, the lighting was dim. We had Lobster Croquettes as an appetizer, they were fantastic - crunchy on the outside with a warm, flavorful center. I ordered the Blackened Grouper, it was delicious and cooked to perfection. Not the slightest bit slimy. It came on a wonderful bed of a sauce that had a consistency similar to mashed potatoes. It also came with a few pieces of asparagus. I hate asparagus. However, this was the best asparagus I've ever had in my entire life. It was tender and didn't have any strings in it. I didn't even know it was possible for asparagus to taste so delicious. One of my family members ordered the Chilean Sea Bass so I had a few bites of that. It was also incredible and cooked to perfection. Other members of my party ordered the Pan Seared Scallops and said they were amazing as well. All of that to say - it seems like you simply can't go wrong ordering seafood here. Our first dinner at Between The Trees was so enjoyable. The ambiance beside the fireplace with an outside view of Reedy River Falls is romantic and relaxing. Our server was so helpful with suggestions from the menu as well as cocktails and wine. Note their menu changes with the season/ monthly. When I read reviews I saw items people did not care for that was not on the menu tonight. We felt the menu offered a great selection. For dinner we enjoyed an appetizer of shrimp cocktail. Our entrees were pecan crusted trout and Pork Chop. Dessert was Sticky Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch Ice Cream. (Wish there had been a little more ice cream on top). I enjoyed a pot of Orange spice Hot tea after dinner. The wine and cocktail menu is varied and offers a large selection. (There is a wonderful Bourbon Bar downstairs). I enjoyed every thing I ate and would highly recommend Between The Trees. It is a great choice for a special occasion dinner, a romantic dinner or just when you want attentive service and wonderful food. The sourdough avocado toast with poached-style eggs, avocado, tomato, cilantro sprouts and whipped ricotta was a standout, except for the freeze dried corn, of which I'm not fond and had to take the time to remove. The french toast is nothing to write home about, just normal french toast. IMO, the restaurant should go back to offering the cinnamon crusted french toast from their Yelp pictures, which looks more appealing. The french toast was missing any syrup; thus, hubby had to return to the restaurant before he could eat his meal. Everything was good except attitudes of a few individuals. Personally nothing was done to myself or my party. But how I observed a few younger hostesses treating the older lady host was intolerable. They should be ashamed of themselves. It was almost like they were telling her to do stuff wrong just so they could run to management and get her in trouble. I'm not sure what their names were but they should be ashamed of themselves. A taller skinnier one and a medium high chunkier one. To the older lady... you're doing great. We had Austin as our server and he was the sweetest, most caring young man. The food was amazing, with large portions to ensure you leave happy and full. The tables for two people are kind of close together but very comfy if you end up in the chair, instead of the booth seat, which is rare. Being located in The Grand Bohemian, this restaurant is classy of course, but also comfortable. We enjoyed our outdoorseating on the balcony, near a small fireplace. Our server, Logan, was great. He gave good, honest food recommendations, and provided excellent service. The crab cake (ordered w/o asking about it) wasn't good at all. It was very dry and bready, and we really couldn't find the crab meat. It tasted more like a seasoned corn bread. Our main items, however, were absolutely wonderful. Perfect really. Had reservation for weeks. When we arrived they placed us at a table where the sun was blinding. To their credit they did move us only after we politely complained a couple of times. The fried chicken sandwich was from a pressed chicken as it had white and dark meat together... yuk. Way too much bread ( thick slices) on the BLT. the menu didn't mention that there were sides. A beautiful hotel in Greenville, SC, The Grand Bohemian is home to Between the Trees restaurant. On our recent visit here we made reservations early and we were eating at 5:30pm. There were 5 in our party. Our table was in the wine room with an amazing view of the Reedy River. The overall bill was in excess of $800, a steep sum for our overall experience. We were greeted right away and placed our drink order. Our appetizers were Bison Carpaccio and mussels, Both delicious. Salads were braised trumpet mushrooms, Caesar and pear salad. Generous and dressed well. Our entrees was where the chef had a misstep. Halibut, Bison tenderloin and scallops were good, both New York Strips (at $63 a piece) were not as ordered. Both were to be done medium rare and arrived well past that point. Also an explanation of how chef prepares his steaks, I.e. rare is red and bloody. Ect. Should have been done. We had to send one steak back and we were all done before it arrived back! Not great. Perhaps some missteps that can be ironed out. Too expensive for these things to happen. read more
