Inverse view law strikes again! Great view, average food. Long story short, the food here is not cheap, but the menu is just a little bit off. We had two salads; first, the compressed melon salad and the fork and knife Caesar. The compressed melon salad prompted the obvious question, what does compressed melon mean? As the waiter described it, the melon was put into a vacuum sealed bag with some citrus juice and compressed. The result was that it almost tasted pickled. My take? Trying too hard. I don't feel like it added to the enjoyability of the salad. Also, the proportions were a bit off. There was a huge burrata but there wasn't enough other food on the plate to carry it off. We left a good bit of it We added chicken to the Caesar salad and thank goodness we did. The salad was actually pretty small. Moreover, the lettuce, although fresh, wasn't great. There were definitely a lot of the "butt ends" and whiter harder pieces in the mix. Also, the menu said "brioche" but the salad arrived without. When we asked about the broche, we were told, oh, that means brioche crumbles. Not even croutons. It was like brioche crumbs. Our waiter was excellent but the maitre d' was more like a maitre don't. I've been in the service business for decades and you kinda know when a person had the service dna. This person, flat and just not engaging. But as promised the view was fantastic. We might give it another try for dinner, but the brunch menu didn't do it for us. read more

The service was very good. The appetizers & meals were good. But good doesn't justify the amount being charged. I better be completely wowed for those prices! And we were not. We went on Friday around 7 and sat at the bar. We split the Cesar salad and I had the mussels my husband had the soup. Food was very good fresh great taste service was also very good the ladies behind the bar where on point the whole night and our drinks where prepared correctly. The place is beautiful the atmosphere was great. I highly recommend coming here and sitting inside or out weather permitting even if it's just for drinks. We also had a chocolate desert that was very tasty and hard to describe. 4 stars was only because I found the menu to be a bit too pricy. Arrived for outdoor "bar" service at 6 pm on a Saturday. We had 3 people total in our party. After waiting for anyone to acknowledge us we finally asked for service after waiting 20 mins. Waitress apologized and took our order instantly. We ordered 3 waters and 1 glass of wine. Received the food before our water / drinks came out. Highly irritating since we sit at the bar to enjoy our drinks. I get that this is a trendy tourist town and they get plenty of business but I still expect decent service. Food was really bad. The pizza (flatbread) was saturated in grease. My husbands fish tower was full of potatoes (as was the flatbread). Guess they lean on potatoes on all dishes to cut costs. We still tipped 18% which she in no way deserved. I do not recommend and will not be back. Ever. read more

We are so disappointed! We have looked forward to eating breakfast at Between the Trees for quite some time, knowing that the view is going to be beautiful and the experience is going to be special In reality, the service was so poor that we couldn't ask for the parts of our meal that were never delivered. Breakfast was just edible, except for the biscuits which were hard as a rock, and should never have been served. Well you don't hire a Michelin star chef for nothing! What a great dining experience. Loved that we walked right up at reservation time and got seated. Seems like ALOT people were waiting, guessing they did not have reservations. All staff and servers were polite, relaxed and professional. The food was amazing. That sour dough bread with sesame seeds is worth the visit! My steak was cooked to perfection and was delicious. My husbands rainbow trout dish was great as well. We made a reservation through Resy and upon arrival it did not sync to the restaurant. The host made sure to seat us immediately to honor the reservation. We started with the rich French press coffee and mixed danish. I got the eggs, grits, sausage, bacon and sourdough toast for breakfast. All the food was good and service was excellent. This was our 6th visit to this beautiful hotel. We have also dined at Between the Trees for brunch , breakfast and dinner. We ordered the aged 22oz Ribeye and my wife and I split it. The soup and sides were delicious and service was friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the steak was awful. It had no flavor and was tough and over cooked. I cannot recommend this dish. For the price , you can do better any most other steak establishments in town. Disappointing. read more

My husband and I ate breakfast here this morning. First, the setting is absolutely beautiful. We sat outside overlooking the falls. Our waiter, Sebastian, was fantastic. He gave excellent recommendations and the service was out of this world. The food was delicious. Between the Trees has become mine and my husbands favorite date night spot. The location is amazing. If weather permits I'd absolutely suggest sitting outside. You can see Falls Park bridge from the patio. We've been twice now and the Service and food have been excellent both times. Favorite item on the menu for us is the Lamb Rack. Try it! You won't be disappointed! Don't be afraid valet (they validate with dinner) to show up early for your reservation and enjoy a drink at the hotel bar and take a seat out on the balcony that overlooks the Reedy River. I am new to SC and had heard about this restaurant a few times on social media. I made the reservation online about 2 weeks before. We did brunch. I made the reservation for 1230p but my plans landed me free at 1130a. I pulled up did valet which is free if you are going to the lodge or the restaurant. You can pay by cash card online or they have cashapp for tips. The restaurant had just opened. I was fully prepared to wait because I was so early but we were seated immediately. Our waitress was great. She was very attentive. Checked on how we were doing a few times. The food was really good! I had the crunch French toast and a piece of salmon that was to die FOR! It was so flavorful and fresh. The food didn't take very long. Overall I definitely recommend this place and I will be back for another meal. read more

First of all, the food was very good, and priced as expected. However, there were a few quirks, which resulted in our 3-stars. we have dined at very high-end restaurants quite often, even a Michelin Star rated restaurant. Never have we ever dined where we were (1) required to place our entire order at one time. We enjoy having our appetizers, while enjoying our cocktails before deciding what to order for our main entree. Between the Trees will not take your appetizer order until you're ready to order your entire meal. Secondly, we were shocked that bread and butter was a priced item under the appetizers, priced similar to the other appetizer selections. And lastly, I like a nice cup of coffee with a shot of Baileys, as my dessert. They only offer a full pot of French Pressed coffee, not just a cup. I prefer caffeinated, but don't want to be up all night. So I passed. The restaurant is quite beautiful, but noisy, which made it difficult to converse. Doubt that we will return. read more

I had such high hopes for this restaurant. First and foremost, I needed a table for 9 and was unable to make a reservation for a table that large online. So I called a few times to see if someone could make one over the phone. No one ever answered so I left a voicemail. 3 days went by and I never got a call back. Actually, I still havent. I decided to make 2 reservations, splitting our party up, just so we could have reservations and get a chance to try this place. We show up and the restaurant is half full so we ask if we can put 2 empty tables together that we see. We're told that one of them is specifically requested. They make no effort to be creative and sit us together. Then we see a large table getting up to leave so we ask if we can have it and they reluctantly agreed. The restaurant remained half full (or less) for the remainder of our time there. We get seated and order our food. The food takes a little while but we're okay with that because the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and we're taking in all the views. The food comes all at once except for two different orders of pancakes. A few minutes later 1 order of pancakes is brought to the table. About 10 minutes goes by and I happened to see our server so I double checked with her that the 2nd order of pancakes was actually ordered and on its way. She was very irritated that I was coming up to her and asking about it. I felt like this was proof to me that she forgot to order it. Pancakes don't take 10+ mins to make, especially if they were ordered at the same time as our other food. The pancakes came out about 5 mins later. So all in all, the pancakes took about 15 mins to get to the table after all the other food had been delivered. Then our server, Taylor, disappeared for over 20 mins. We had to ask another server to send her over so we could get the check. She was already very inattentive but once the pancake issue happened, she didnt check to make sure the food was ok or whether we needed refills on our drinks. I'm sorry but for a restaurant of that scale and for those prices (over $200 for pancakes, omelets and coffee), the service should be good, bordering on phenomenal. The table next to us had to send back their omelet because it had shells in it. The pancakes we waited so long for... They had wet batter around the bluebrries within them. We went for our 20th anniversary and it was amazing. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. Our waiter Logan was very friendly and attentive and informative. We had drinks earlier in the downstairs lounge and there was a drink that my wife wanted to try,she couldn't remember the name but Logan found it and delivered it promptly. We have been enjoying all the new restaurants that have opened in Greenville recently, and the beautiful setting of Between the Trees inspired us to visit. The menu offers some interesting looking choices (although not a single item with poultry/fowl, which was unusual). Unfortunately the meal and experience did not meet our expectations. Trumpet mushroom appetizer was thick stems-only and poorly cooked. The result was an overly sweet, chewy unappetizing plate of beige. We let that go half eaten. The shrimp cocktail was a mess. The shrimp were pre-coated in the cocktail sauce, which was unusual, but the horseradish was the worst. It was a congealed, solid mass at the bottom of the bowl. I tapped it with my finger, and my finger didn't break through the top , like poking at firm tofu or gelatin. Moving on to our entrees, both the trout and the elk were very overcooked. Anyone who has prepared a fish filet and let it cook too long would immediately recognize the curled up look of a significantly overcooked piece of fish. The thick half was edible, but as the filet narrowed it stopped being edible. To be fair, the one delicious item was the New York Strip. Cooked perfectly to order, with sides that complemented the filet nicely. As we were finishing up, the fire alarms went off in the building. After some initial confusion, our waiter came to the table and said that all patrons are being asked to evacuate to the lawn area outside "but if you would please leave behind your credit card so I can run your bill". What? Leave behind our credit card? No. Did he think we were going to 'dine and ditch'? Two members of our party were hotel guests, so I'd think they could find us. My husband ended up staying behind (yes, inside the evacuated building) , until the server returned our credit card. Understanding that the restaurant is relatively newly open and perhaps working out some kinks, but they'll have to do a lot better for me to return. read more

Good Eggs Benedict is hard to come by, but this is is top 5 for sure! It came with crispy potatoes--brunch was so tasty and had a nice presentation. Everyone enjoyed it. We had a group of 6 so we sat off to the side away from everyone in a somewhat private room that overlooked the river. We were celebrating a double birthday, and once we were seated, they didn't take our order until 9:30 and didn't get our meals until 10:45, 3 hours after our reservation. they gave us free apps. sorry not eating until 10:45 doesn't make up for eating 3 hours after our reservation.
