I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Beverly Gas and Tire. I ran out of gas nearby and went over to ask if I could borrow a gas can since they wouldn't fill up the container I had, which I understood was for safety. Even though I was going to pay for the gas, they wouldn't even lend a can. It's really disappointing to see a local business show zero compassion or willingness to help a neighbor in a tough spot. I am a very happy customer and I always have my car serviced @ Beverly Gas & Tire, Inc. with never any issues for many years. The entire staff including the owner Steve are always helpful and they sure do know their auto motive business, best gas prices around with nice gas attendants with good & honest employees doing inspection stickers too. Yesterday, I went in for an inspection sticker and waited inside the business when I noticed a customer walking in asking for a regular bottle of oil and said the owner Steve said he could have it free since he bought his BMW from them. The friendly & nice receptionist gave it to him., I heard him asked her if he could leave the car then but she told him there were busy at the moment but that he could leave it tomorrow or make an appointment when he was available but the customer left and ignored her completely. Will damage your car and lie to your face!! Brought my car here for a state inspection. When I drove off, I noticed the airbag off button was on -- something I had never turned off before. When I checked, the button was pushed in/damaged. I returned to the shop, and the staff (owner) working on my car denied responsibility, claiming airbags aren't checked during inspections -- WHICH IS FALSE!!! Police told me other people had issues and voiced similar complaints before. Now my car needs repairs and wouldn't actually pass inspection! I've reported this to the RMV and city council. On November 8th, 2025 I purchased a 2007 Nissan Altima with only 70,000 miles on it from Beverly Gas and Tire on Cabot Street for $5,000 . Three days into driving the car the first time I went above 50 MPH it shook violently and broke down. I had to pay $200 to get it towed back to their shop. Once it was there, days turned into weeks turned into months and I kept calling every couple of weeks . Everytime it was "we still don't know what's wrong". Granted they did give me a loaner vehicle in the meantime, but eventually Steve, the owner called me and said he gives up on the Nissan and said he can give me a BMW instead. I accepted but when I went there to sign the paperwork he asked me for another $2,000. I gave it to him because I wanted to believe the story that they aren't super knowledgeable about hybrids (which the Nissan was) and I wanted to give him another chance because he was a nice enough guy. I felt nervous about the BMW so I had it looked at by two other mechanics and they said it was in pretty good shape but there was a small oil leak coming from the drain plug. The BMW had nearly no oil when they gave it to me, so earlier today I asked Steve if I could bring it in to have them give me some Oil to which he said yes. So i stopped by their shop to be greeted by the miserable receptionist named Debby, only to be told that they are too busy and they can't do it so she gives me a bottle of oil, I also asked before I left if it was the correct oil and she assured me it was. The BMW I got requires 0W-30 oil and they gave me 0W-16 which is an extremely thin oil that can destroy the engine. I called BMW dealer to ask them if I can use it and the guy on the phone literally said fuck no. I brought this to Steve the owners attention and he basically ignored what i said and replied "We have our own oil, and please when you want to do something with your car check w Tony, and make an appointment by calling Deby at the station" even though i asked him earlier this morning if I could bring it in . Do not waste your money here they are not real mechanics. I was extremely patient and kind throughout this whole process I just want to protect someone else from having to deal with what I had to deal with. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. Steve the owner is corrupt, inept, miserable and dishonest. Unstable. He screams at customers. I brought car in solely to add coolant and nothing more. He told me it would be $20.00 to add it and keep the jug of coolant. That was all he was authorized to do; nothing more. He then supposedly did diagnostics without my consent! We bought my 78 year old mother a used car from here over the summer, was told by the owner any issues bring it back they will take care of it. After putting less than 500 miles on the vehicle the front axel gave out, not due to her driving, the car is an '09, the issue with the axel most definitely pre existing, they gouged her for almost $1000 dollars but out of the kindness of their hearts they took $200 off. DO NOT buy a used car from here you will get screwed. read more

Horrible service and they never fix anything. They just put a Band-Aid on it. Gas is overpriced, water down and will ruin your engine.

I was sold a vehicle that didn't pass emissions inspection due to a bad catalytic converter, brought the car back to be repaired, instead they said they needed to work on the car to pass inspection, which they did, but they never repaired the part, just managed to clear the codes and get a sticker, but the codes came back again mu "check engine" light came back on and I brought it back to them and they wanted me to pay for the part and they would give me a discount on labor, it was their responsibility in first place and they now wanted me to pay for it. I was told the car had a brand new transmission from the dealer and were to give the paperwork on it which never happen. if you do business with them, just make sure you do your due diligence {shame on me I did trust Steve) and do not trust them or any other dealership for that matter, courts are unreliable to fix the matter, no help there, I tried. I contacted the mass consumer division and I hope they are better help than district court. The good reviews are probably written by friends and family, never trust those either, unfortunately, YELP was created to help, but crocked business people use it to look clean and good, not bashing YELP, just stating a fact. read more

My husband had two tires put on here after receiving a rejection sticker From them. My husband was concerned about only replacing two tires in an all wheel drive vehicle and also not having them aligned. The men here assured him it was fine and charged him 400$. When we drove away, the car felt weird so we took it to three other local mechanics who all said the same thing... it's not safe. When we tried to give the tires back, less then 24 hours later and get a refund the owner screamed at me over the phone and said "that's not happening! MAYBE we will give you a break on two more tires". And then hung up. He had zero concern. Why would we EVER trust these people to work on our car again? I live in Boston now but I continue to make the drive because I finally found a fairly shop that could get the jobs done on my car(a very troublesome bmw). Steve, the owner, is extremely nasty and rude. He is a fraud and will always find a way to rip you off. He makes up ridiculous stories about the repairs needed on your vehicle and he instructs his staff to find other phony problems so he can make more money. Stay away! read more

Awful experience. I came to fill up my gas tank using my Santander bank debit card. The gas attendant came outside furious claiming my debit card broke his machine and it would put him out of business this weekend. I've used this debit card at several gas stations and have never had an issue. I told him I didn't have cash on me but I could run to the atm and I would be happy to give him the 10.00 owed for gas since my card wasn't working. He then threatened to call the police on me if I didn't leave my license as collateral. Horrible customer service. Stay far away from this place! read more

New Management sucks ... Gave me a price then doubled the price Manager is on sabbatical .. inmates running the place $1300 brake job then squeaking and squealing came from wheels tried to remove tires, broke 2 T bar wenches lugs were put on with an impact wrench too about 2000 lbs should be 150 ft lbs caused warping to new rotors. Took it to another mechanical and he said brake bolts were missing very dangerous .. read more

As I started to get out after waiting 3 and a half minutes the short man behind the counter came out and yelled at me that I was not supposed to pump my own gas. Then you do it dude. tl;dr Steve's company blatantly did not perform the work that we paid him for, and when I expressed my dissatisfaction as a customer and asked for a refund, he called the police, cried wolf about harassment, and kicked me off the property. My mother and I have been customers here for over a decade, but the management recently changed hands and we've had a terrible experience. My elderly mother took her car in for power steering repair (they had installed the previous pump, and after 2 years it appeared to have failed). After we picked the car up, pump was still making terrible noise and steering was stiff. Opened the hood and discovered they had -not tightened the hose clamp -not clipped in the fluid reservoir (it was just banging around under the hood) -the power steering fluid was WELL below the Add line -the "new" pump they had installed was banged up and clearly used I have evidence of this in a video. In all likelihood they did not clear the lines prior to adding fluid, and maybe this was the problem with the previous pump. Could have saved us $300 on a new pump. And yet, they told my mother they had "checked everything" and the car was safe. In the meantime I noticed an erroneous charge on the bill for 2 gallons of antifreeze. (Not part of the power steering system, nor does the Volvo have the capacity for 2gal of antifreeze). I took the car back and they said they wouldn't be able to fix it for three more days. I decided I wanted a refund and I would have the work done elsewhere. I requested they reverse the charge and Steve the owner refused, got up in my face (he kept demanding, "do you understand English"?) and made other offensive comments. He told me that no Volvo power steering pumps are new based on the age of the car, which may be true, nevertheless his employees lied to my mother and told her they'd installed a brand new one and performed sloppy work. He was defensive and rude from the get go, in front of another customer in the shop. He made no effort to repair the work that had been done (for example, adding fluid to the pump). He then claimed that he wouldn't deal with me, only my mother. This was a stalling tactic. He said "you can take me to court." I told him again that we simply wanted the charge reversed, and he then called the police, claiming I was harassing and intimidating him. I had no choice but to leave the premises as it was a civil complaint, despite the cops completely understanding what had transpired. I now have to wait on my bank to perform an investigation to dispute the charge, while Steve gets away with fraud. His company did not perform the work that we paid him for, and when I expressed my dissatisfaction as a customer he called the police, cried wolf about harassment, and kicked me off the property. I recommend not supporting this sorry excuse for a business, and avoid sending your elderly relatives here so they don't get taken advantage of. Beware. read more

I initially took my car here for some repairs out of convenience, since I could drop it off and it was close enough for me to walk home. Now it's two years later and I am still taking my car there. The man who runs it--Adam--has made me feel as though I am paying only for what needs to be done on my car and not one penny more. He often will discount here or there if the job is big so that I'm not emptying my bank account. Mechanics often are able to get away with a lot because so many people know so little about cars (myself included), but I never feel taken advantage of here. Instead I feel taken care of. read more

Beverly Gas and tire is by far the BEST place in town to bring your vehicle for ANY work as well as gas! I have been going to them since 2010 for gas, oil changes and any car repairs I may need. This is a FAMILY owned business who you can TRULY TRUST!!! It's so hard to find an auto shop that you can rely on and trust with your vehicles. This recently purchased a car (JEEP LIBERTY 2006) for my son and it did have a few issues over the last 8 months (abs sensory/breaks/radiator. Of course it was a stressful time with having to deal with all this as well as have my son driving a car that may not be the safest. The owners and the mechanic went ABOVE and BEYOND to assure me that my son's car would be safe as well as gave me incomparable PRICES!!! I truly cannot thank this company enough for all they have done for me! It's a rear occasion this day in age that you find people who are 100% working in your best interest.
