I went in for a late weekday lunch. The owner and his wife could not have been nicer, place sparkling clean. Booths, not fancy, but prices are fair, and I don't want to pay for fancy. Had the 2 roll + salad or soup choice. Got a hamachi roll, a spider roll, and the salad with a soy/sesame dressing. All so fresh, so good, hit my craving. Our experience at BG Robata was the definition of average. Adorable interior, nice and helpful staff, but extremely underwhelming sushi. The inside of this eatery was very intriguing. Cute Japanese decor was riddled throughout. This restaurant also had a great Japanese drink selection. We ordered a bottle of one of our go-to sparkling sakes, and a glass of plum wine. First, we tried the yellowtail carpaccio. It was not the best dish by any means. The quality of the hamachi was not very impressive, and the ponzu sauce did not hit the mark. We then received the taro rangoon dish. It was very lovely! The taro chips had a great crisp and taste, and the cream cheese rangoon dip was deliciously creamy. We typically do not eat faux crab "fish loaf," but this was well worth trying. The plum sauce was a very nice touch. The sweetness of the plum sauce complimented the plate very well. Yakitori wise, we ordered the New York strip, baby octopus, and house street corn. All three were fantastic. We really enjoyed the baby octopus yakitori, it was grilled to perfection. The house street corn and New York strip were also delectable. For our nigiri selection, we ordered quail egg, tuna, mackerel, yellowtail, tamago, and smelt roe. The quality was not bad or good, definitely average. The mackerel was oddly very dry, almost as if somebody squeezed every ounce of moisture out of it. The rice was not seasoned at all, and they did not have real wasabi as an option, which was a huge letdown. The rice was not properly seasoned in traditional sushi preparation fashion, which actually took away from the fish, instead of complimenting it. The Hokkaido scallop was our favorite bite. Soft, tender, and fresh. Then we received our unagi don. This was a very satisfying dish. Warm, properly seasoned unagi, drenched in sauce, over a bed of white rice. Truly hit the spot. The cucumbers had a very strange note to them. Oddly enough, they tasted like the smell of horse feed fresh out of a bag. We finalized our meal with the matcha cheesecake. Cut down on the sweetness, and it would have been the perfect dessert. We will return to BG Robata, but mainly for their great selection of 日本人 drinks and their yakitori! read more

Found this on yelp and thankfully followed the directions based on the other review since it is located in the Publix shopping plaza. Noting if you are looking at Publix it is on the right side probably five doors down. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and sat down. The restaurant is clean, and pride of ownership by the business owner(s) shows. The waitress greeted us immediately to get our drink order and provide menus. We ordered tuna tataki as our appetizer and a house salad. The house salad is small but it's appropriate for the pricing at $3.95 in today's age. The dressing was amazing a soy sesame dressing not too overpowering on either the soy or the sesame side. Such a nice balance I saved the remaining dressing to put in a soy sauce dish to use for future sushi rolls. The tuna was spicy I'm not sure if one of the ingredients is spicy since there was an ingredient I did not recognize. Just beware it is spicy and it is not noted on the menu. It wasn't the best tuna appetizer, but it was very good nonetheless. For dinner, my 11-year-old daughter ordered the chicken breast on a skewer and a side of white rice. The chicken breast was one chicken tenderloin with a glaze on it. I did not get to try it because she inhaled it. She said it was delicious and requested a second skewer which again she inhaled. If your starving this is a small maybe two ounce portion so order accordingly. My fiancé and I ordered three sushi rolls, the golden boy, the deluxe and one other one I can't recall the name. They were all fantastic. The golden boy was our least favorite, because it was just a little too lemony for us. I wish I could remember the third roll. But the sushi sure hit the spot in a good way. The roles were not humongous like some places, but weren't super small either. We ate all three rolls with nothing to take home. I probably will order a fourth roll to have some late night sushi to eat next time. For dessert we ordered the Matcha ice cream and the homemade Matcha tiramisu. Both were very good if you like Matcha. Not overly strong, but definitely there on the pallet. The tiramisu had good structure and not overly soaked ladyfingers. I would definitely order at again. The only hitch I had was the color. It was a little weird looking at while I was eating. The green just screams salad rather than dessert so that's just a personal thing, but I would say it's original! We had a very nice time, great food, great service, clean tables and a very important point for me is clean bathrooms. We will be back and would recommend this sushi spot to others. read more

Was looking for one of my absolutely favorite mom and pop Thai place that used to be here and unfortunately sold.... I decided to give this new concept a chance after reading the reviews I must say it's not what it seems for the bland overpriced food but it seems the owners AI generated responses don't help their case too much. I must say the takoyaki and yakitori were good, but the fish seemed mishandled, tough and cut improperly. If you want a better suggestion Ken's sushi is x10 better! read more

Apps: the pork belly and eel yakitori (both really good, probably excellent warm and in person) Sushi: spicy tuna (excellent and actually quite spicy. Had a nice burst of lemon to compliment the heat), the Japanese bagel (my favorite) and the primal (very good). All the fish was really great quality and generously portioned. Second time trying this new Japanese style restaurant. Very impressed that the staff remembered us and thanked us for returning. (Try that at a chain!) Sushi and other Japanese cooked items. We really like the Takoyaki. On the previous trip, the omakase was reasonably priced and very fresh tasting. We hope to try more of the Signature rolls, but can tell you that, so far, we like the Gentleman roll the best. ABSURD $20 CORKAGE FEE. Excellent sushi and service, however a corkage fee of $20.00 for bringing my own wine is too much, especially when similar themed restaurants in strip mallls are $5. We understand a high corkage fee, and encountered it just this past weekend at a Reatuarant but it had a 22 page wine list!!! This reatiarants wine list reads cabernet, merlot, Chardonay....thats it. We used to go here everty week, then they slapped this on us two weeks ago. They had already had their wine liscense 2 weeks before and did not charge us...we figured they were rewarding us for being loyal customers. My husband found us a really good sushi restuarant near us that we gp to now and the corkage is $5...he says he will post a review of this new Sushi restuarant soon! Came here with my partner on a Thursday night we had seen it for awhile while being in the same plaza as Publix and wanted to give it a shot, and WOW IT'S SO GOOD!
