Dropped in here for a second time after the fire. Was a little confused since it was called Bounty Hunter and reopened as BH Wood Fired Grill. Same ownership. We've been to the one in Napa multiple times with the BBQ forward menu and animal heads on the wall. I think this was the same here prior to the relaunch as BH. I think the animal heads didnt dance well in the DubC. Anyway, 2nd time in we sat at the bar and had some snacks and chatted with the bartender. Very nice guy. Drinks were great. Service was great. We will be back.

The Happy Hour sign drew us in after an afternoon of shopping. The bar is nice and big with plenty of seats and we enjoyed a few glasses of wine and the carpaccio, shrimp Louie lettuce wraps and cod sandwich. All quite good and it was great to grab a bite with our drinks for a nice happy hour discount. Pretty quiet on a Sunday evening but I hope they do well after closing from a fire. Bar tender was great and attentive.

My fiancé and I were in the Walnut Creek area and came across BH wood fire grill, and immediately caught our attention. We arrived around 1 o'clock with a party of 2+ a stroller and there was no wait for us to be seated. Once you walk in you'll notice a grand circular bar with a stunning open floor entryway. The restaurant offers many styles of seating arrangements with intimate style booths, and open tables in the middle. I can see the restaurant hosting an array of different occasions with its trendy, yet casual vibe. For my drinks, I ordered the dawn of time as my starter drink and a Lindsay wildlife as my meal drink. The dawn of time was the perfect drink to introduce the food that was to come with its coffee bean flavor, and hint of chocolate bitters. The Lindsay wildlife kind of gave me a nostalgic feeling with it tasting like a Sobe tea drink (iykyk). 10/10 recommend it for a delicious, not too strong yet refreshing whiskey drink. Huge props to the bartender Joann for making such amazing beverages. For appetizers, we ordered the grilled globe artichokes, and the shrimp louie lettuce cups. The artichokes come with 3 half slices with saffron aïoli and romesco sauce. The artichokes tasted amazing with its grilled aroma and slightly burned and tender texture. The lettuce cups were super refreshing and the BH sauce mixed with a dash of tobasco was the perfect addition to each bite, not to mention the fresh and soft shrimp. For my entrée I ordered the creekstone ribeye, which is a 14 ounce cut with greens. I ended up substituting the summer beans with grilled asparagus. The entrée came out at perfect timing after our starters were finished. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and had a smoky grilled aroma to it. The garlic butter and red wine sauce was a nice added bonus packed with tons of flavor. We surprisingly saved enough room for little dessert so we ordered milk and cookies. This wasn't your average milk and cookies; the milk had a semi-thick consistency with a full top and dipping the crispy cookie with gooey chocolate bits in it was heavenly. We met the general manager, Jason who was extremely welcoming and accommodating. 10 out of 10 recommend trying this restaurant if you're visiting the Walnut Creek area after a afternoon or evening of shopping. Parking might be an issue as I wasn't able to locate any super close garage parking but if you're lucky, you might snag a parking spot on the street.

My friend and I stopped by here while wandering around downtown Walnut Creek. Neither of us had been there before. The ambiance was low key and dark. We sat down and ordered drinks and some food. The waitress was so kind and attentive. She helped us pick something's and stayed close refilling our water and checking in religiously as the restaurant filled in. The decor was warm and inviting. The drinks were fun and the food was spot on. I even saw some families pop in with some younger kids. The staff didn't miss a beat and treated them with kindness and warmth. Surprising stop and mid to high pricing but worth it for an elevated menu and attentive service. Worth it in my opinion.

Dinner to perfection. Mahmoud was a fabulous server with a tremendous amount of experience with delicious vegetable descriptions, and horticulture. Sangiovese and their entire wine selection is spectacular. Perfectly prepared prime rib. Let me tell you, we checked all of our go-to steak places and NONE had Prime Rib on the menu so this is what brought us here for my In-Law's 66th wedding anniversary dinner celebration. The speed of service was perfect for us and the ROASTED BEETS SALAD, as recommended by our server, was outstanding! All of the dishes were fabulous and I highly recommend. But do not miss the BUTTERSCOTCH PUDDING which is just a dream come true!!!! Our visit was on June 29, 2024.

Duroc Pork Chop (5 Stars) the best pork chop I've had, get some!
    Douglas M.

I've been here a few times, they changes it up a little from last time. The menu was different, but the food was still awesome! Service was also great. The room was still pretty much the same except they got rid of the walk through wine and liquid store. Here's what we tried: Grilled Artichoke (4 Stars) It was perfectly prepared, seasoned and cooked. Then grilled to give it smokey flavor. Served with grilled half lemon and 2 sauces, lemon aioli and remoulade. Shrimp Louie Lettuce Cups (5 Stars) The shrimp were perfectly cooked, chilled, then served on a lettuce cup with hard boiled egg slices, pickled red onions and a beautifully made Louie dressing. So good! Focaccia (3.5 Stars) Not really focaccia, but still good. It was cooked in a small cast iron skillet, made for corn bread. They serve with burrata and sun-dried tomato sauce. The bread had a nice crust and texture inside. Pork Chops (5 Stars) One of the best pork chops I've had, not sure if it was reverse seared or sous vide then grilled but it was so tender inside, but with great smokey flavor from the grill. Brussel Sprouts (5 Stars) The pork chop came with a side dish, I picked brussel sprouts not knowing how awesome it was going to be. The brussel sprouts were roasted, then mixed with some lemon sauce and cheese, I think. I wish I cook tell what they did. I'll have to go back to try to figure it out. Filet Mignon (3 Stars) It was ok, nothing special. The meat quality was good and cooked to order perfectly. The brown sauce was really good too. However I'm not fan of tarragon and it was in a sauce on the plate, so I think I'm down grading to 3 stars, sorry. Puree Potato (3 Stars) nothing special, it was good, season well, very smooth, but nothing unique. The dessert menu had no chocolate that night, wrong move. I think a restaurant with those prices and atmosphere, you have to have chocolate. I was down to order more $, but oh well. Until next time...

Business lunch today at Bounty Hunter, always a fav. We shared the Tuna Poke (so fresh and the Wasabi cream the perfect touch) and Roasted Cauliflower (with some crispy brussel leaves and onion), I had the Smoked Brisket plate and subbed the fries for a salad. My colleague had the Shrimp and Grits (no Pic). Add in a nice martini, and they understand what extra olives means! The service was great as usual, love how they are willing to modify plates to meet diet needs. It's a beautiful open spade inside, and if it's a pretty day, the patio area is beautiful.

    Buttermilk Fried Chicken Appetizer
    Tanya M.

We had high hopes going in, but unfortunately, we were let down. However, I have to say the 2 stars was because of the food and prices ONLY. We spent $162 for 3 people. It was not worth it at all for the food we got and the quality. That's also an incredibly high bill for three entrees, one appetizer and only one drink. Two people had water...can't imagine the bill if we all had drinks and dessert. If the quality had been great, it would have been worth it. The fact that they charge such exorbitant prices, but the food quality is like a tv dinner makes it hard to justify. -buttermilk fried chicken appetizer: the chicken was tasty with the ranch, even though it was sometimes hard to cut because it was extremely hard and stringy. Some parts were also soggy because they decided to dump a bunch of wet pickled vegetables on top of the chicken. It would have been better with the picked vegetables on the side. -2 orders shrimp and grits: overly spicy sauce, large chunky and unseasoned grits, and overcooked shrimp. The shrimp was absolutely hard and rubbery. -grilled branzino with bean ragu: the fish was overcooked and dry and the beans were tasteless. It really hurt to see this was a 38 dollar dish. I wouldn't be surprised if you told me that the fish had been cooked the day before and just microwaved prior to serving. That's how dry, hard, and tasteless it was. I would definitely give 10 stars for service!! The hostess, our server, and the assistant server were absolutely amazing. They were rockstars...so hardworking, attentive, sweet, and handled everything with a smile and care. Even though the food was terrible, we still left a 22% tip. They were absolutely lovely and constantly on the go handling so many tables, and many full of large parties(8+). I am only willing to give this place a shot again because of our servers and the hostess. I think next time we might do lunch to see if the quality improves. However, we aren't itching to go back any time soon because the food was just so horrendous. The prices just don't match up to what you get. We could have had a much nicer and delicious dinner elsewhere for that price.

This restaurant is in downtown Walnut Creek. There is bank close by which has a pay parking lot after the bank closes. The atmosphere is better than average with indoor or outdoor seating. We went at the beginning of the evening so it was empty. The brisket was ok, but not great. The Cole slaw that came with it was on the sweet side. My wife got the chicken but it was not fully cooked. They took it back and butterflied it and cooked it. The second cooking turned the chicken a little dry so the dish was kind of a bust. We should've asked for a refund, but they also should have suggested it since they knew that she was not happy with it. Another in our party ordered a burger which was ok, but had my daughter lamenting that Shake Shack across the street had a better burger. Overall, we thought the food was a bit average especially for a slightly more upscale place.

My true rating is a 3.5 but Yelp doesn't do halfsies. Came for lunch with my family on a Sunday afternoon. I loved the vibe immediately upon walking in. It gives upscale rustic and is spacious, yet cozy. The staff was welcoming and very friendly. We had a reservation so we were seated right away. I ordered: - Hamachi (I love all things crudo, especially yellowtail, so I enjoyed this) - Fried Calamari - Chicken Stacker (pulled chicken smothered in bbq sauce; messy and delicious) - Shrimp & Grits (fave of the day, super rich & flavorful, shrimp was seasoned well and wasn't over cooked; the bread was a nice touch because you could use it so soak up the 'gravy') - Cheesecake - Huckleberry Gin Cocktail (too sweet, couldn't taste the gin) I'll admit, ALL of our food was delicious!! The downside was the service. :( Our reservation was for 2:30PM. We arrived at 2:20PM and were promptly seated. Within 10 or so minutes we'd all placed our orders. However, our food didn't even start to arrive at our table until after 4PM, which was pretty unpleasant. We were hungry and that's a VERY long wait. No apology or explanation was given so I'm unsure what the hold up was. I'll probably give this place another try , but I'm not in a rush.

This the meat trio with cornbread and coleslaw. You can see the meats look dry and they were this day, but my previous visit was perfect

I've gone twice now and I really liked it the first time. I especially enjoy : Beet salad Artichoke Meat trio accompanied by house made bbq sauces The service is good and the food is too. My last visit was right at opening and the food did not seem fresh , like it was from the day before , but it was still tasty . I will try it again and that visit will determine future visits

    Vegan power bowl

My husband treated me for Mother's Day in his favorite spot in Walnut Creek. We did not have reservation, but came before they were open and were seated outside as we wished. They had a great brunch menu with vegan options, which I prefer. My daughter, who" were not hungry" gobbled up the French toast and asked for more. Vegan power bowl with quinoa, mushrooms, sweet potato, avocado and beans was very palatable and fresh. Glad to see plant based options in the very meat friendly restaurant. Services as always were extremely professional and patient. Our kids always enjoy the fish pond outside with little turtle :-) definitely coming back.

    How is their barbecue?

It's amazing when it's fresh . I was unlucky enough to be served dry ( what I believe to be from the day previous ) meat. We had a reservation right at opening so there was no excuse for the quality that day. My previous visit to that the meats and…

I read a review mentioning $20 corkage fee added even buying a bottle from the restaurant wine list, is this true?

We weren't charged a corkage fee on the bottle we bought there.

    Do they have weekend brunch?

They have an awesome brunch! The new chef has really upgraded the menu here. Try the eggs Benedict with beer infused hollandaise is so good!!!

Is it a fancy or semi casual dress code so to say?

There is no formal dress code of which I'm aware. However, I noticed most people in casual attire.…

Is there a full menu during COVID for this following week? Or does this place have a limited menu during COVID.

I'm not sure what the menu looked like before COVID, but the current menu seemed pretty extensive. I would definitely call it a full menu.

Will they be open Father's Day?

I don’t see desserts on the menu does anyone know if they have any?

I had an AMAZING butterscotch pudding even though I was already completely full. They also have some kind of s'mores dessert I believe.

    Can anyone recommend gluten-free options?

Their Smoked Prime Rib is outstanding. It normally comes with whipped potatoes. you could ask for a substitute, such as French Fries or rice pilaf.

    Is this a noisy place?

    Moderately noisy.

What are the options for kids? Do they have a kids menu, or are there smaller portions available?

I wouldn't consider this a good place for kids. Not sure if they have a kids menu, but it's definitely a restaurant more focused on the bar and alcohol offerings. I'd make it a date night and leave the kids at home :) (That's what we did!)

I was the first to walk in around 4ish in the afternoon (they have happy hour!) and I was offered a seat and water quickly. I decided to order the smoked salmon crudo and the gentleman (I think one of the owners?) gave me some pairing suggestions. While that was getting prepared in the kitchen, he offered me a tasting of another white wine on the house, which was so kind! In the picture below... it's most drunk haha but it was a nice amount to taste and sip on. That smoked salmon crudo is SO GOOD. The citrus adds a nice brightness, and I think there was a hint of honey used in the vinaigrette. I was pleasantly surprised and it's easily the best smoked salmon dish I've had in a while! The wine was excellent as well. I was only in for about an hour, maybe an hour and a half before I moved on, but I got to hear regulars come in and greet the owner like old friends. There's a really cool vibe here, with great music and decor, so I really wished I lived closer to visit more often! As I was leaving, I did chat with the gentleman again (complimented him/the wine bar) and he said he hoped that I would come again as he is trying to work with his partners to add more to the menu (the regulars that came in were asking after the gumbo and the brunch, which they were not serving at the time). I definitely hope to visit again and try those other menu items!

The seating options were disappointing as the benches along the wall had no cushioning and the couch we selected instead had flat, sinking cushions. The music was too loud for reasonable discussion with my friend, though the server did lower the volume at my request. I had a tasty flight of sparkling wines and the server gave a speedy, short introduction to the pours. My largest disappointment came with the arrival of the check. Despite signage outside the establishment that implied the opposite, I was informed that wine flights were *not* included in happy hour pricing. I found the messaging exceedingly unclear, and of course, there's no mention of happy hour on the menu nor did the server share the happy hour options when we were seated. It was a disheartening end to a midling experience up until that point. It's not that this place is terrible, it's just not that good and in this economy, that is a must. I will not be returning.

I'm so glad we ended up across the street. It's an open area restaurant with a very large wraparound bar and rooftop deck seating overlooking downtown. Despite it being windy and chilly, we didn't get cold at all. I regret not taking photos of the restaurant itself as the ambience was so unique. We ordered 3 appetizers and no mains. Fried calamari, heirloom tomatoes with burrata and roasted brussel sprouts. Calamari: batter was a bit darker than most I've had, but consistency and crispness the same. Don't know if they used extra paprika for the color. The calamari was tender and a good contrast to the batter. The real star was their tartar sauce which was so yummy we asked for more. Tomato salad: this dish was just about perfect. What you can't see well in the photo is the burrata sitting on a bed of pesto. The pesto is arugula-based, making it much milder and not so basil-forward, which we appreciated. Brussels sprouts: It's not the best we've had but I would still order it again, if nothing more than to get those insane bacon chunks that came with the vegetables. I had the spicy maracuya and hubby had the Irish goodbye as drinks. Both wonderfully done, but I especially liked the Irish goodbye which was their take on a manhattan - instead of bourbon they used whiskey, and threw in some green chartreuse along with the vermouth. We'll have to try to recreate this at home. Service was friendly, but the server didn't check up on us. They looked understaffed. All in all, we would be sure to go back, and drag some friends with us.

One look at the shelves tells you they have the base for any drink you want. We split the Margherita flatbread, pesto, fresh mozzarella, and blistered cherry tomatoes, and it hit the spot as a drinking snack. The menu goes deeper than expected for a bar, with sliders, naan tacos, and charcuterie if you show up hungry. Service was good considering the staff-to-crowd ratio. Sevan stayed attentive the whole time and clearly knows his stuff. The vibe is chill and conversation-friendly, not too loud for the size of the room, with a bank of TVs toward the back if you want to catch a game. Logistics are easy.
