    Front of container

Don't buy the voila orange juice. The container blew up like a balloon on the 4-5 block walk home. Gave the juice a chance and poured a small glass out to taste. The juicswas bitter and had this carbonation taste. Put the container in the fridge and 10 min later it blew up like a balloon again. Can't believe bi-rite would carry this kind of product and at $11.99 too!!' It went straight down the drain. Huge waste of money!!!!

Fresh organic, local grown produce. Though can be pricier because of selection

Interesting store as I've heard about this place and wanted to check it out. Previous reviews did say this was gonna be a pricey place...and it definitely is. It's actually above Whole Foods prices even at quality produce and things, even with their claimed sources of many items. It's worth checking this place out for the experience, but I cannot imagine this as a weekly grocery place - it's just not practical and many items costs more than if you got a quality take out. The fresh product selection had some nice items, ranging about $2.99 to $5.99 per pound. For reference, bananas here at the time of this post was $1.79 a pound. Did it taste any different or, "organically fresher" than your regular supermarket bananas at a third of the price? NOPE. They don't have frozen food here, some microwaveable meals that averaged about $14.99-$16.99 an entree. Potato chips were about $6.99 a large bag. Fun to have visited, but might be my only visit quite honestly. Unless you just want some fancy groceries, you can maybe pass on this store.

    Lone mountain sandwich
    Jordan L.

I was grocery shopping a few weeks ago and they had samples of the Lone Mountain sandwich. While I already had dinner plans, I almost threw them out the window and ordered this sandwich then and there. I ended up coming back the following week to try the full sandwich and it did NOT disappoint. It was so divine I can't even describe. Perfect flavors, not dry, yummy focaccia, 10/10 perfection. It was so good that I literally went back the next day and got the exact same thing. Sometimes the line can get long, so consider ordering ahead online. Bi-rite as a grocery store is great too. Upscale, a bit pricey, but yummy food. My FAVORITE premade bite is the avocado chicken salad - SO yummy on sourdough. I used to get it twice a week per my pregnancy cravings.

We got sandos from bi-rite for a little picnic and they were excellent!! I loved the lone mountain (better than the sutro in my opinion)! The focaccia was excellent with flavorful toppings and plenty of meat! Sandwiches in SF can be pricy but imo this one's worth it at $14. Will be coming back for it again!

I love bi rite! They have such a fun selection of produce, premade food and desserts, and snacks. You can also get fresh sandwiches made to order. I tried the lone mountain sandwich today which had chicken, avocado, cheese, pickled onions, peppers on amazing focaccia-- so good! It was around $15 and super filling. It was also prepared very quickly and the workers were super friendly. Such a great spot to pick up artisan goodies and unique food items. I love the big spoon roasters nut butters sold here!

    FRESH Bread selection

Yes- it's expensive for every day shopping, but I think Bi-Rite is the best place to try a few local gems like Rosalind sour dough, Dandelion chocolate...the variety of local purveyors is what makes Bi-Rite so special and an important part of the community. I stop by here on a way to a dinner party to grab a fresh loaf of Ube sourdough from Rize up- always a crowd pleaser! Plus the prices on local breads and chocolates are the same as the shops themselves.

Key Lime Pie in a glass jar is delicious fresh lime and cream cheese topping!

Their desserts are delicious and freshly made each day! Just tried their thanksgiving TV dinner that's being offered for T-Day. Excellent quality from moist turkey thick slices to mash potatoes and gravey a little bit of everything in a small package

The best part of BiRite Markets! Grab & Go!

Having a BiRite Market is a definite plus (+) for the Russian Hill Neighborhood. A big step up from the Real Foods Company grocery store which it replaced. The prepared foods (grab and go salads and entrées are delicious!) are pricey! Since I used to venture to the Mission street store in the past before it got really overcrowded then switched to the Divisadero (Nopa) store later, I got to say I'm liking this space. It's the largest BiRite in the City! But I was hoping they would have a scoop counter for their ice cream. When the Nopa store stopped serving ice cream, it was a huge loss imho. When I stopped by on Sunday mid-afternoon, the store was not too busy. The cashiers were not overwhelmed and I found the person who helped me not friendly (at all). This is a sad start on the customer service front. I will, however, shop here again. I'll report back with how it goes.

Beef and Cheese empanadas, Wise Sons plain bagels...
    Justin K.

I can spot a weekend trendy from a mile off. You know the bridge & tunnel crowd, that comes into the city to party on the weekends? Bless their hearts. Like aspiring actress Gregg says in the 1959 movie starring Joan Crawford- The Best Of Everything... "here's to clean cut men, and their dirty little minds". Well I've had Sarah Jessica Parker just about enough of it by Monday, being I grew up in the city, and all with my snobby parents; so I decided to go to Bi-Rite market today, in the trendy Russian Hill neighborhood and buy some Chi-Chi groceries. I'd teach you but I'd have to charge. Being single and always ready to mingle I grabbed the "to go" egg salad sandwhich, "to go" Beef & Cheese Empanadas, snap pea pasta salad, Wise Sons plain bagels, goat gouda from Central Coast Creamery, and eggs from Tomalas Bay, life is so boring... and a bottle of my favorite sparkling water Topo-Chico from Mexico. I like Mexico it's so Mexican. The egg salad sandwich from Bi-Rite Market is the star of the show, and truly mon préféré. Bon appétit!

Stopped by Saturday to grab a bite to eat from their deli. There were so many good options but i ended up choosing the lone mountain sandwich. Super filling and delicious, would definitely come back for this and to try out more of their menu items.

Just remember they don't have the creamery here - no scoops, just the pints & sandwiches. Still good, just more ice cream for home.

It ended up taking us over two hours to get our pastries, and by the time we reached the front, some items had already sold out. This time, we decided to arrive right when the line opened at 7:45am on a Friday. Personally, I'd rather get there early, wait a little over an hour, and have the first pick of pastries than arrive later, wait even longer, and risk missing out on items. We were the third party in line and placed our order around 9:05am. By 9:15am, we had our pastries and drinks. After our first visit, I wasn't completely convinced the wait was worth it. The pastries were good, but the long line and wait time didn't feel justified. This visit, however, may have changed my mind. We ordered: * Madame Lorraine * Chorizo & Tot Croquiche * Morty P * Strawberry Vanilla Bean Bun * Pistachio Cardamom Sugar Croissant * Rocky Road Double Chocolate Cookie * Classic Croissant We also got two drinks: the S'mores Mocha and the Cherry Vanilla Almond Cappuccino. Don't skip their drinks, their specialty coffees are just as creative as their pastries. I really appreciate their rotating menu. Their pastries are always so creative, and I love that they experiment with unique flavor combinations that you don't typically see at a bakery. Some items are definitely more memorable than others, but I enjoy that there's always something new to try. Their pastries are well executed. The croissants are flaky and buttery. This visit, my personal favorite was the Chorizo & Tot Croquiche. Overall, this visit was a much better experience than my first. If you're willing to wait in line, I think it's worth checking out. Otherwise, you can always try your luck with their Hotplate presale.
