    Date and toffee pudding

Went back for my birthday and everything was absolutely delicious. The service was so friendly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance was really nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but the food of course was the highlight. The bread with that butter was so good, the Brussels sprouts were amazing and the fish and chips were absolutely delicious and so fresh (get a side of the curry aioli, I promise you it's sooo worth it)!! To top it all off, that date and toffee pudding with the ice cream was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. I will be back again, what a great way to spend an early birthday meal with my parents!

Missed this place on St Pats but got my fish and chip 3 days later...exceptional along with a Guinness...very pleasant and cozy

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance of this quaint restaurant is very welcoming, and it def gives you the vibe of charming Irish country side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is very exquisite. One of one best prawn toast we have ever had. One of the best meals we have in town.

*Update 2/19* We ate here for the second time last Saturday night, and while the drinks and food remain wonderful, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the restaurant was packed when we arrived for our 630 reservation[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Our waiter was very friendly, but with limited service staff, we again found ourselves waiting for food. We ordered the chicken liver terrine, which came with 3 small slices of bread for the two of us. We wanted more bread, but couldn't get our waiter so we just finished the appetizer. We had been at the restaurant for an hour before the entrées came, and wished they included a little bit of extra carbs or starch (my husband's outstanding pork chop had a few halves of baby potatoes; my trout had a modest serving of white beans). The food is delicious, but it's definitely more of a leisurely experience. It was a solid 15 minutes for the appetizer to come out after we got our drinks. Next time we visit, I will probably order two appetizers, and just accept that it's going to take a while for the food to come out. The lot was packed so we had to find street parking a block away.**

Drove up from Long Island to try the elevated Irish cuisine. Boy, was it worth the trip! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just walking in the door was a treat. The lighting, smells, sound level, friendliness... all perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The drinks were creative versions of the classics. We had the aperitif spritz and the blackthorne, which was a delicious and interesting take on an old fashioned complete with hints of cardamom, Irish tea, absinthe, and bitters. The stout bread was also unique and a must. We ate a little and took home the rest. Delicious the next day as well! We order the raclette, which was more like an Italian fried cheese, but very light and perfectly balanced out by a vinegary potato-pickle-mustard salad. The Berkshire pork chop I ordered was easily the best chop I've ever had. Incredibly tender and flavorful. And when the juices mixed with the caraway cabbage slaw it made for a perfect sauce. My wife ordered the top notch beer battered fish. Even the desserts were great- sticky toffee gingerbread pudding and some sort of chocolate layer cake with buttercream and added cherry and other flavors. Overall just a great meal and great service. Can't rave enough about it. Just wish our overnight accommodations in Red Hook had lived up to the dining experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is very similar to what you would get in Ireland.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The server was kind and welcoming. All of her suggestions were spot on. The pork chop was delicious... and that's not something we would normally order. I had the fish special.. it had a very rustic Ireland flavor with a crisp crust. The prawns were an absolute favorite. I also enjoyed the salad which had a fresh blue cheese on it that my husband refused so I enjoyed happily on my own.

A few years ago, I bought a cookbook that billed itself as "Nouvelle Irish Cuisine." I eventually sold it, and my thought was, "I'd never cook any of the dishes here, but I'd eat them elsewhere." Welcome to "Elsewhere." It's too bad Yelp's limitations on categories of restaurants relegates a place like this to "Irish," because it's more like Irish inspired cuisine. As we were alternating between raving about and wolfing down our appetizer and cocktails, the staff commented on the focus given to complexity of taste on so much here for the food and drink, something of which I wholeheartedly approve. That was evident in the meals, the drinks, even the breads served before dinner. Oh, and they left room for focus on service too. The entree options are somewhat limited, but the specials often compensate. I went with duck, because duck, and we also ordered a special for the evening, venison medallions wrapped in bacon, because ... oh never mind, you get the idea! The mushrooms in truffle oil appetizer whetted our appetite for what was to come as well. After-dinner offerings included some decadent desserts, Irish coffee, specialty sorbets, and a generous assortment of digestifs, some of which I had to Google (which subsequently went onto my liquor shopping list). Bia is a nice addition to the dining scene in Rhinebeck, and it's now high on my list of local restaurants for a fancier evening out.

Great food, wonderful ambience and service. Highly recommend! I got the trout and my husband got the Sunday Roast special. One of the best dinners we had while visiting NYC and the Hudson Valley.

We reserved a tent, feeling a bit like Arabian royalty. Great soundtrack on the patio, our own private heater; however at 20 degrees we still kept our coats on! Very attentive servers popped in frequently. We ordered 5 small plates to share, each delicious and saved room for the fig pudding and chocolate torte. Our COVID precautions running quite high, we are hugely selective of our surroundings and made reservation well in advance. Highly recommend.

We had the squash bread with apple jam and the bone marrow + steak tartare as starters. Both were so good, especially the steak tartare that just tasted so clean and fresh, pairing nicely with the richness of the bone marrow. It came with these little potato slices that were scooped out to provide a perfect vehicle for the marrow/tartare. My partner had the carrot tart tartin, which he loved, and my scallops with morel mushrooms were perfectly cooked, with the hazelnuts providing such a nice texture. He enjoyed his phony negroni (they also had other NA options, including other mocktails, an NA beer, and an NA Riesling) and I really liked my Good Shepherd cocktail, their unique take on a dirty martini. We were too full for dessert, unfortunately. The service was great - attentive and friendly, but it felt like we were able to take our time and enjoy ourselves without feeling rushed, even though the place was busy. It is definitely on the pricier side and I would recommend reservations as the place was pretty full, but I would absolutely recommend this spot for a delicious, quality meal in Rhinebeck!

The service was five-star, and the food--though expensive--was delicious and very satisfying. We skipped dessert, but I'm sure it would have been equally on par. All in all, this place was a welcome escape from the chaos, blaring music, and flip-flop, T-shirt crowd across the street at what was once a pretty good establishment 25 years ago.

VEGAN DINNER and a good dinner for all…read more Party of 6, we came for dinner after a busy Saturday at the Sheep and Wool Festival. We had a reservation and were seated with no wait. It's a very comfortable space and not noisy, so we were able to talk. As a vegan, I rarely get a coherent meal at a restaurant. So this was a pleasant surprise. Two of our six ordered and enjoyed the vegan Autumn Bowl of lentils with root vegetables. We enjoyed the crispy artichokes. Well executed. The sauce was spicy and enjoyed. Our party enjoyed Willow Salmon, with fennel orange salad: delish!; Pan Seared Trout was enjoyed; The duck breast was enjoyed. We got a bottle of red wine and some cocktails. All good . I had a strawberry margarita . We all had a good meal and a good time. Considering that the restaurant was not full, we felt the service was Slow. All of the staff were very nice. Bathroom was clean. Parking lot under the facility is large and adequate. Especially nice in rain and cold. A note about the Autumn Bowl: It's priced at $34 (all inexpensive components: lentils, carrots, squash), while the Mirbeau Burger (8 Oz CAB expensive Beef with bun, cheese, onions, portobello mushrooms, bordelaise, field greens, and fries) is priced at only $28! Also, the vegan Gelato is $3 more expensive than the regular Gelato. Why? The pricing doesn't make sense, and I think it should be re-evaluated. I'm grateful & appreciative for the vegan options. It's not easy to find a coherent vegan meal in Rhinebeck and this is one of the best, in a very comfortable space. Helpful?

This made me a little dubious at first but I went in with an open mind just to give it a chance. Walking in I had no idea what the layout would be like or even the vibe I just knew the menu is random. From the outside it looks like you're walking into someone's house and that's just what it is. Someone's house. It does not feel like your traditional restaurant at all. It has a staff of three including the chef and seating is a little limited. The ironic part is even though the space is on the small side you don't feel cramped at all. The staff is beyond friendly and truly makes you feel at home. Now in regard to the food the plates were picked clean. I started off with the bread and butter and it came out warm and soft. It tasted like a sour dough but I'm not sure there were two types both delicious. Their homemade butter was out of this world especially since I love garlic and it had a roasted garlic flavor to it. I ordered the sirloin Moroccan kebab with koos koos and was it outstanding. It wasn't a complex plate at all. Grilled onions peppers with seasoned steak and koos koos with zucchini. The real charm is how they blended so well together and how fresh everything tasted. It felt like it was from a farm. I'm not a culinary expert but every bite just made you want another one. I'll be honest at first I didn't see how it would work but once I tried it was like DUH! I truly cleaned the plate for a second time. Then came desert which was a Choclate mocha cake with a raspberry sauce. Once again I wasn't sure if I'd like it because I'm not one for Choclate or raspberry but it was delicious. The cake was moist and light and the raspberry was slightly tart but just sweet enough to make dipping the cake in the sauce to be a luscious treat. I definitely plan going back regardless of the menu because not knowing actually makes it the fun part of the experience. I can't say enough about my time there I highly recommend anyone who has read this far and is an enjoyer of culinary arts to try this place.

I'm normally indecisive but I said "Steak Frites" and he hastily agreed. He told me to find a place anywhere along the trip back, and I found Flatiron. Despite the high average, the lowest reviews were shown to me first. Even though it was about half an hour out of the way, we agreed to give it a shot. I called to make a reservation only 50 minutes in advance and the guy on the line was friendly and happy to accommodate. Several reviews said this place is "nothing to look at", which we found really funny as we sat in paradise on the patio. Beautiful day. Quiet atmosphere. It was cute on the inside, too. All to say we found this perplexing. I normally don't ask to sit outside for fear of being forgotten (wait staff get busy and it's easy to miss tables that are out of your line of sight) but we were checked on consistently and back on the road within an hour. And also, what matters most: The food was really good. And they cooked my steak the way I asked. Gonna go out on a limb here and say the negative reviews are either greatly exaggerated or the management has since addressed the issues. This was a highlight for us on an already great trip.
