I have wanted to grab a sandwich here for years. I finally was able to make it happen and can't wait to go back. I ordered 1/2 tuna and 1/2 egg salad on sliced sourdough, with all of the condiments except onion. The nice man, must be the owner, told me that sandwich is called, the Scandinavian. The sandwiches are still absolutely elite, like, "worth getting emotionally hazed for" elite, but lately ordering there feels less like lunch and more like a kid takes a ruining start and kicks you in the groin. Definite Soup Nazi energy, but my Gosh is it good. My brother, whom refuses to go back because of a dust up he had with the management, asked me to order him the "Grilled Turkey Jack," which does not exist. A "Grilled Chicken Jack" DOES exist though, and the guy looked at me like I'd just backed over his dog in the parking lot. We were five seconds into the interaction and I was already fighting for my life, and in hot water. Things only escalated from there. I kind of thought my brother was overacting a bit, but I knew almost instantly he wasn't. When it came to my order, apparently I was expected to know every ingredient on the sandwich by the time you step up to order. No tomatoes" was tolerated. Barely. But when I swapped Dijon for regular mustard? Audible sigh. Like full theatrical exhale. Then I asked if they had jalapeños and the owner literally lowered his head and shook it slowly, as if reflecting on all the mistakes that had led him to this exact moment. Then he says,"yessss we have jalapeños." At this point I'm sweating. I'm nervous. I'm apologizing for existing. Finally, the order is done. Just need to pay and escape with what remains of my dignity. Seems easy right? No. There's a handwritten CASH ONLY sign, or Local Checks, clear as day. Who writes checks to a sandwich shop, and why don't we have a credit card terminal? Totally my fault. And I DID have cash... except my brother had handed me money before I left his house, but I left it in the cup holder of the car like an absolute amateur. So I run outside, grab it, come back in. Didn't hold up the line too bad, but now his wife is looking at me like I personally caused the recession. She's pissed. "Is that all?" "Yes that's all." I just want to survive and leave. Then I panic and yell: "WAIT! I NEED CHIPS." She freezes. The room freezes. Somewhere, a child stops laughing. My brother wanted Salt & Vinegar, but the chips were somehow stored in THREE separate locations like a scavenger hunt. Time was running out. I grabbed Sour Cream & Onion because at that point we were in triage mode. "Is that all?" Honestly, spiritually? No. But physically? Yes. Then, in a final act of self-destruction, I glance at the drink fridge and say, "I'll take a Coke." "We have two..can's or bottle." "...Bottle?" "Go get it." "I'm sorry?" "GO GET IT." Now I have to do the walk of shame past the line while everyone watches me retrieve my own beverage like I've been sentenced to hard labor. Some customers looked annoyed. Others looked sympathetic. One guy looked like he'd seen this before. Meanwhile the Coke isn't even barcoded. She absolutely could've rung it up herself. But no. This was about principle now. Eventually I escaped with my sandwich, chips, and emotional scars. Didn't tip. Couldn't. Stockholm syndrome hadn't fully kicked in yet. Honestly, someone needs to go in there wearing Meta glasses and intentionally fumble an order beyond comprehension. I'm talking substitutions, questions, changing your mind halfway through, maybe ask what bread pairs best with emotional trauma. It would be one of the greatest found-footage documentaries ever made. Best sandwich shop in all of Contra Costa County. This is an authentic New York deli sandwich. The homemade fresh sourdough roll is to die for, and the slaw they use on the turkey sandwiches incredible. The blend together is like I said, the best sandwich around. The owner is so nice and they've been there forever. They're so friendly with, their customers and probably the only complaint is their hours are not open 24 seven all the time. I really enjoy this local sandwich shop tucked away in Moraga. It does appear that the business suffered from the pandemic as the offerings in the deli case don't appear as robust as before. However, the sandwiches are still great and very well priced. Today I had a craving for a sandwich and came right here for the roasted turkey sandwich in a warm sourdough dough roll. It was a toss up between sourdough and Dutch crunch since this isn't available everywhere of course. For under $9 you get a great sandwich that has crunchy shredded iceberg lettuce, sliced tomatoes, mayo and mustard. I added a sugar free snapple and a 1/3 cup side of potato salad. The potato salad tastes homemade and more on the "dilly" side. They have a nice selection of chips and non alcoholic beverages as well. When I got home, I added a slice of tomato that we had at home and some avocado as well. The roll was still warm. And that first bite was crunchy! It's a hearty sandwich that was split with hubby. I highly recommend Bianca's. I'd take half a star off for customer interaction. My only suggestion is that the team be more friendly and welcoming. They seem quite sad. my manager decided to take me to try bianca's deli when we were in the area and i was honestly surprised with how delicious and affordable the sandwiches were. i was expecting for it to cost about $14 because that's how much they typically are around the area i lived but it was half of that. it's located in a plaza where you can dine indoors or outdoors. we went slightly before they closed and i got turkey with everything except onion. you can tell all the ingredients were fresh and i honestly love how they also helped me wrap the half of my sandwich i couldn't finish. it's definitely a spot i would love to go go again if i'm in the area. I went there and ask a man working there what kind of sandwiches they had and he said they had more than 50 different sandwiches, but he would recommend me to get a one with chicken. I got chicken sandwich and you know what? It was exactly what I wanted: really simple homemade sandwich with fresh meat and veggies. They have a few tables outside so you can eat your food there. Happy Sunday! I have been training a new staff member at Moraga School District for the last few months. It's allowed me to try some new places in the Lamorinda area. Bianca's Deli & Catering in the Moraga Shopping Center usually gets mentioned when people ask who has the best sandwich, so I was excited to try it. Bianca's makes great sandwiches! They bake the sourdough and Dutch crunch rolls in-house, and the bread is warm when you get your sammich. OMG, the sourdough is so good; it has a nice crunch on the outside but is soft in the middle. The sandwiches are huge; a half is usually enough (and they sell 1/2 sandwiches). I typically get a ham and mortadella, but I've also enjoyed the meatball and a roast beef sandwich. People rave about the grilled chicken & jack since they grill it in-house. My girlfriend really likes their egg salad. They also have great sides, including yummy deviled eggs! Sometimes, I grab some deviled eggs to have for dinner. It's a pretty unassuming spot; Bill and Marcy opened over 25 years ago. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Prices are reasonable, but it is cash only or checks if you live in the Lamorinda area. I recommend that you make sure to have singles and some change because they always ask if I have a dollar or some cents. I've included their menu so you can peruse it before your visit. These people are some of the rudest people I have ever met. I had a local who ordered for me and it was a pretty decent amount of chicken salad on my sandwich. I went by to get it again myself before leaving out of town and they barely put any of the chicken salad and piled up all lettuce. Secondly I had someone who didn't come before either and he asked for sandwich roll recommendation. He received eye rolls and attitude and said he can look at the board and pick. Inside, it's the kind of place where you can unwind in a casual atmosphere while eating good food. The Hunny would like it, they were playing her favorite radio station (K-LOVE). A big chalk board has the menu written on it, so this is not a cookie-cutter corporate cafe, it's quite personal. Lots of choices to choose from, and I chose the honey-baked ham sandwich. They were out. So, second best was the Louisiana Hot Link sammy ($7.25) on sliced sourdough. Add sea salt & vinegar potato chips and a cherry Coke for a total of $14 and change, and I was out the door. I drove to a deserted park at the end of the road and ate. On this warm January day, I found the sammy to be quite spicy, both with the hot links and the peppers. The rest of the ingredients were put together so that it had a good cool taste to go along with the hotness. Not as much bread as Dutch Crunch, making it better. CASH ONLY. ATM available. With the large menu, you're likely to find something there you'd want to eat. The price is right, too. The nature of Moraga's location is that Bianca's is a ways to go just to eat there, so it's something to add into a trip you're already making to Moraga. It's a good place to stop. read more

It's a charming place with friendly long-term employees who should be paid a living wage.
