Some of the best Pho I've had. Good prices, great portions and the waitstaff is always very friendly and attentive. I had the Rare Beef and my sister tried the Rare Beef + Brisket combo. The noodles and meat portions were plenty, as well as the limes, sprouts, basil and fresh jalapeño that came on the side. With all the sauces and garnishes they have available, you can have your Pho the way you want, and that's beautiful. As for non Pho items, my sister and I split some egg rolls- very fresh and very delicious. My friend got a crepe which looked amazing and judging from her empty plate, it was as good as it looked. First time trying this local spot. They did a wonderful job providing a safe environment for take out. Three patrons were eating inside however there tables were well spaced. We had not had Vietnamese food prior so we did our research. We ordered #11, 9, & 17. All were very good. I enjoyed how healthy the food is. All the sauces are on the side so you can control the level of spicy heat if you want any at all. The extra fresh herbs too are in the side so you can make every bowl of Pho unique. I didn't have a meal, just grabbed a coffee to go. It was amazing! As I rolled down the road I enjoyed every, single sip. It made me wish that I had either gotten a bigger coffee or stayed and enjoyed a meal. And while I was there I overheard a discussion about culantro. It's supposed to be something like cilantro with a very interesting far more intense taste. I can't wait to try it and can't believe I've never heard of this stuff. You have an incredibly and authentically DELICIOUS Vietnamese restaurant in your town! Don't judge a book by its cover...or in this case a restaurant by its facade. It's kind of a hole in the wall dive, as it contains a couple of pool tables. But it's the FOOD here that rocks! Went to West Town Mall (God I HAAAAAATE $#&%@# malls!) and THANKFULLY (as it turned out) their food court was filled with snot nosed kids and no seats were available so I used my handy Yelp App to find a nearby restaurant. Well I am SOOOOOO happy I picked Bida Saigon! I read the Yelp reviews for recommendations and I picked the #9 Pho Rare Beef. I admit to being both a Pho Junkie and Pho Snob. (And for those of you who don't know, Pho is NOT pronounced FOAH. It is correctly pronounced FUH. Just sayin....) This Pho was unbelievably rich and aromatic, with a very subtle sweetness which to me is what made the dish. It was topped with cilantro, scallions and some onion slices, in addition to the thinly sliced pieces of rare beef which cooks inside your Pho bowl. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente. I asked what was added to give that deliciously subtle sweetness, and she said that the owner uses a "meticulously prescibed" amount of sugar. Don't get me wrong folks this dish is not "sweet" at all. It just has a PERFECT combination of sweet and savory. They do give you a side of sprouts, basil and lime but, I don't think this dish needs ANY of that added! Recommend that you eat it just as presented. Normally I can't finish an entire bowl but in this case I not only ate everything but I uncouthly drank the broth and licked the bowl! I just didn't care what that looked like to anyone! I'd have to say this was one of THE BEST Pho dishes I've ever had! I can't believe I found this quality of Pho in Knoxville! So, lets just say trying to discover a vietnamese place in Knoxville will be harder to find after eating at this place. I wouldn't so far as to say that the food wasn't good, which was decent, but the service is what turned me off. I see that the reviews were all about the food and well to me I like to write about my whole experience at a restaurant, the whole nine yards. So lets get to it. The food. Of course at every Vietnamese pho restaurant I get my Pho Dac Biet. When I looked at the menu, nothing. However, they do have the combination. And well, that's what it is so that's what I order. It came in a deep bowl and I was pretty exciting about it. When I tasted it, not bad. I thought it had okay flavor, but nothing exciting. The amount of it was filling, and it had everything in there. So why two stars? Well the service was kind of abysmal in my opinion. It seemed like our waiter had an attitude the whole time and honestly, it made me feel like I wasn't wanted there. Or maybe, it was just because she just came off as really pushy. I think she was in a bad mood and just didnt want to be there though. Apparently this restaurant doesn't have vinegar, which is interesting as most do. I usually eat my meats with onions in red vinegar as a side when eating my pho. However, when it came time for billing, this is what set me from 3 stars to 2 stars. When she brought the check I gave her an Amex card, not knowing that they didn't take Amex. She comes back and says that they don't take Amex. Luckily, my father was carrying cash. So, he dug into his wallet and pulled out $43. (The bill was $35). This is what happened. She sat there waiting for my father to pay. She started gathering the dishes and at which gave a feeling that she wanted to get paid right there and then. After my father gives her the amount, with her hands full of plates and dishes, she goes into the kitchen. We're about to leave when she comes running back out and says that my father only paid $23. So a whole $20 was missing. My father just have her another $20 because he couldn't argue her accusation. First off, you shouldn't stand there waiting for a customer to pay. You should just drop the check off and go do other things until the customer is ready. I wasn't even paying and I felt rushed. Losing $20 and then accusing the customer because you're hands were full and could not count on the spot makes the customer feeling swindled. Secondly, it would be a lot easier and a lot less awkward if the waiter figures out the order to do things, especially when it comes to money. Such as the gathering of the plates and dealing with money. I think it would be easier to just let the customer go to the cash register and do all that there and separate the two. But that's just how I see it. Overall, just because of that experience, I don't think I'll come back here. My outlooks for pho spots aren't that great considering this is one of the best ones in Knoxville. If I'm absolutely craving for pho, maybe. If not, I'll just wait until I'm in another city. read more

I love this place. I seriously do. The bahn mi is simple, crispy, and delicious. And it's $3.50. Earlier today I tried the Vietnamese crepes and they were astounding. I think it might boil down to cilantro. I love a cuisine that puts cilantro in everything! Also, the waitstaff are adorable and sweet, which is clearly a plus. One more thing ---- the setting is pretty awesome too. There's two pool tables that greet you when you walk in the door, but don't let that scare you. I've been in this restaurant before when a lot of Vietnamese men were hanging out, drinking and playing pool, and it was quite an awesome atmosphere. My favorite place in town for PHO! This place is a total hole in the wall. I always seem to get the #9. Everytime I venture out, the #9 keeps calling my name the next time. They bring you out an additional plate of bean sprouts, basil, limes, and jalapeños. I not only stuff my bowl full of that but I also put sriracha and chili paste in mine. Stir it up with your spoon and chopsticks because there are no forks here :) The #9 is the Rare Beef Pho. I also enjoy their egg rolls and spring rolls. The only thing I would not order again was the sandwich. Too much old bread and not enough to fill it up. It is tucked in the shopping center next to Hooters. It's actually easier to find if you are on Ray Mears Blvd by Target and heading West. You will see the shopping center on your right, just passed BucketHead. So glad I have found a legit and authentic pho restaurant in Knox! Coming from Cali, I crave authentic noodles! When I came here, I was pleasantly surprised by the broth and meat quality! Wow. This place is seriously good. I was in town for business, and I've got this bad habit of trying hole in the wall restaurants just to see if they're any good. Luckily, I keep getting pleasantly surprised and tonight's meal was no exception. We tried the pho, both beef (rare steak) and chicken, and both were excellent. Now, please know you have to put in a little effort to get a great bowl of pho: squeeze the lime, a liberal dollop of hoisin, sriracha, garlic chili, chili oil, pinch some Thai basil, a handful of bean sprouts, and you're just about there. (As in all south east Asian food, there is a wonderful mix of spice, sour and sweet ) I was gladly surprised about how you can customize the dish ( they bring fresh ingredients such as mint, beansprouts and limes and also you have several sauces you can add) That spectrum of options grants you the chance to keep changing the flavors in your dish as you enjoy it. I travel to the Knoxville region a lot for work and often times I stay in the smallest towns where chain restaurants dominate the area. So I often find myself traveling to Knoxville for food. My coworker and I typically look for pho places when we are out of town. I found this place from yelp and I got excited to try it. I had their pho and the broth was really good. It was sweeter than other pho broths that I've had. You can taste the cinnamon more on their broth. My fiancé got the pork with rice as well as their banh mi. I just moved to Knoxville, so of course I was excited to get out and try some restaurants. My love of Vietnamese food lead me here. This place is tucked away in a strip mall as is most of the fabulous food I have found across the country. The lady who greeted us was friendly and ready with a table. It looks as though they are taking the Covid Seriously because the lady cleaning tables had a cart & sanitizer spray bottle, so that was wonderful. There was a nice guy that came around our table a few times to make sure we were doing good I'm not sure if he was the owner but that was very kind of him. Now to the good part, the food. I ordered the Pork Noodle Bowl as I always do With an order of egg rolls. The flavors were good and as they should be, The only thing was that was a little disappointing is that the eggrolls aren't served with your typical plate of lettuce, mint, cilantro, bean sprouts to wrap your eggroll in before you dipping it in your fish sauce. There are some who would say that summertime is "too hot for pho." Let's just say I'm not one of these people. Pho is my ultimate comfort food, with a rich broth, tender noodles, your protein of choice which you then spice to your liking. My friend and I ordered the spring rolls with shrimp in them along with 2 orders of pho tai (noodle soup with thinly sliced beef). The spring rolls were so obviously fresh, I was over the moon. Crisp veggies, tender shrimp, wrapped just right. The pho tai came with bean sprouts, basil, peppers, and limes. I was a little disappointed about the lack of mint, but spiced my bowl with the sprouts, basil, lines, hoisin, and a couple teaspoons of chili paste. The fragrant broth did not disappoint! The aromatic spices are proportionally used to add a unique taste. The noodles taste like the fresh ones rather than the dried packages being reconstituted. Fresh herbs and veg are a must: thai basil, spiky cilantro, bean sprouts, slices jalapeños, and lime wedges. They do put MSG into their broth for an extra enhancement in flavor. The crepe looked good but not as crispy as I had hope it would be. It came with a nuoc cham which is the fish dipping sauce. Try the ice coffee. It's a bit sweet but will get you quickly caffeinated. I have always been a big fan of pho and I almost always order their pho tai. Delicious. I liked this place. come try this place please. I ordered the pho with shrimp and 2 egg rolls. The food came out in like 2 minutes. I am assuming they have the pho already made on the steam table or warmer and the rolls maybe they also have some extra done because no way they made those right away. it was super fast. The shrimp pho was so very delicious, the best part is that they give you a huge portion of sprouts, fresh slice jalapeños and mix spices. I loved it very flavorful and warm and delicious. The noodles where so good. Also very cool that they provide around 4 different table sauces. The rolls where ok pretty tasty, but a bit dry. The service was fast and friendly. A little too fast perhaps they should offer some desserts or coffee, but here I am just being overly critical because I own a restaurant and I feel for the owners. The service was very good. My friend and I were craving noodles. We found this place on Yelp. We found it easily but weren't sure we were there because of the entry and no signage. We walked in and there were about 4 other tables. By the time our food arrived there were at least 15 tables. My friend got the egg rolls with fish sauce and I ordered the veggie spring rolls.woth peanut sauce. We then asked our server her recommendations for our entrees and we were not disappointed. My expectation for this place was pretty good after reading the reviews. Being Vietnamese, I can confirm that this place was not authentic. The server did not understand the traditional Vietnamese dishes I was ordering. Pho: There was not enough meat. Small portions. Spring rolls: The main ingredient was noodles to stuff it and make it look full & barely any meat. I was quite disappointed in this location. Hopefully they can improve. read more

We've been here a few times now and I have to admit I always get the same thing. We start off with vegetarian spring rolls which oddly aren't on the menu but certainly do exist. The two rolls are plump and packed with veggies and rice noodles and come with a delicious peanut dipping sauce. But the real kicker is their Phö, which you can order in about any fashion, but I always go for the tofu. I load it up with plenty of jalapeños and basil and a bit of the chili oil that they have on the table (admittedly, I'm not sure what's in it or what it's called but it has a great kick that keeps my nose running throughout the meal). I've tried the beef options once or twice and have to say that it's better, but not by much. Really the only difference is the fat that is lacking in the tofu bowl which creates a bit more depth for the beef bowl. The restaurant itself seems more of a communal kitchen, or even a church kitchen, but that suits me just fine. There are some pool tables in the front that I've never seen used or racked up and there are two or three tv's to stare at if that's your cup of tea, but for the most part it's a quiet environment with one or two servers serving the 10+ table dining area. I was glad we found Buds Saigon last winter as it satisfied a craving for a hot bowl of soup or broth on more than one occasion, and I even went in once when I was sick to try and open my sinuses up with chilis and hot liquids. "Introduce a Tennessean" If you're looking for reliable bowl of pho, in a bright clean atmosphere, where perhaps you can take your friend who has never had pho, then this is your spot. This is clearly not my old haunt in Maryland, where rows of old short men sat for hours at long dingy tables, slurping bowls so massive you could bathe in them. This menu is clearly in English, and has a very basic offering. Basic bowls in standard (more of a small/medium to me) size are delivered. The egg noodle spring rolls are simplistic, and sandwiches plain good old french bread with pickled veggies and your choice of pate or a more simple sliced pork. Beef tendon is about the most adventurous addition they have here for pho, and it's again of passable quality. It's certainly got a smidge of MSG (no surprise there) that I've noticed has gotten a little heavier over my last 6 check-ins. I don't go here expecting the soul warming feeling. That is certainly missing from the experience. If you haven't felt that yet, you'll know it's not here. Only the bowls of pho that actually give me the feels, get 5 stars. read more
