I love this place. The portion size could be bigger but I am not complaining. I love that they have veggie options. They basically have a tofu for meat substitution. I ordered the tofu vermicelli dish and the veggie banh mi and it was extremely satisfying. They were lacking on the banh mi section because of the thin layer of stuffing but their main entrees were top notch. They give you raw mint and bean sprouts, as any Vietnamese restaurant does, and you're suppose to mix that in with your meal. the service was quiet speedy. We were a group of 11 so I had to forewarn them. They do not deliver. Their catering skills are poor. But they were generous with the amount of fish sauce to go with our catering order. So why poor? I asked if they could put all the same orders in one container instead of all single portions and they put everything in single servings so I had to find another container and combine it myself. Was craving for Vietnamese food when in town and eventually chose this place. Price is reasonable and food was served extremely fast, probably in less than 5 minutes after we ordered, everything was on the table! My grilled pork rolls are pretty good, and they are cheaper than most of the Vietnamese places. Also got the combination pho, the soup base was ok, portion was great. But the beef tendon inside was the worst I've ever had, it was not fresh and tasted like some fake plastic... Overall, don't order any pho with beef tendon, but order as many appetizer rolls as you want (they also have a huge variety of selections for these rolls). It's very authentic in flavor, have lots of delicious options for pho, noodles, rice bowls, spring rolls, fresh rolls... whatever you want. The prices are competitive, if not lower than most other places. A hidden gem, across the street from Target. It can get pretty full in there but the service is always quick and kind. My boyfriend and I drove here for some pho on a rainy day while out vacationing for my birthday in Pigeon Forge. It was about a 45 minute drive but we didn't mind, we just wanted some good pho. I choose this place based on my fellow Yelper reviews. Place is in a somewhat industrial area but wasn't hard to find. Roomy inside and friendly staff. The only thing I was a bit like "mmm what's going on here" was the cashier area. There was a window like there was at a mini-mart or gas station but hey, if the food is good, I'll sit down. We both got the combination PHO and it was good. My boyfriend really enjoyed and said we picked right with this place. Came back here in hopes that my last visit was just bad luck. But the food here continues to be disappointing. I ordered the chicken over vermicelli this time around. Usually it's grilled chicken so I figured you can't really do this wrong. The dish came out and there were pieces of shredded chicken. As if they just used rotisserie chicken pieces. Let me preface this commentary by saying that I realize how much sway Yelp reviews can have over an establishment's success. Bad reviews can hurt a business, so I take them very seriously. More often than not, I leave positive, 4 and 5-star reviews! If I visit a restaurant and have average food or poor service, I usually just let it go. I give them the benefit of the doubt. Also, not every place is for every person; that's just the nature of existence. When I do leave a bad review for a place, it's because there was something blatantly wrong or disturbing about the experience. This is one of those rare instances. My wife and I recently stopped to eat dinner. We ordered the following: - Shredded Pork Spring Rolls - Pho Tai Nam Bo Vien - Pho Ga - Water to Drink The Shredded Pork Spring Rolls were extremely bland and dry. They seemed to have been stored pre-made for an extended period of time. We both ate a few bites, then set them aside. They were not edible. It was like chewing on plastic. The water tasted like it had been mixed with rusty nails. We didn't drink much at all. I ordered the Pho Tai Nam Bo Vien. The broth was very sweet and totally overpowered by the cilantro. In fact, it was sweeter than it should have been. I've had tons of Pho all over this country, and this simply wasn't right. It almost tasted spoiled, and I didn't get much of it down. The noodles were chewy and sticky, so not the right consistency at all. The "meatballs" could be better described as "extruded meat product". They tasted and felt like diced hot dogs, for lack of a better comparison. My wife's Pho Ga was bland and flavorless. It also wasn't very hot, which troubled me. Even worse (and this is the part that pushed me to write this review)... There was what appeared to be a dead cricket in the Pho Ga. I pulled it out of her soup to confirm. It definitely had eyes and antennae. When she found the insect, we stopped eating immediately. I was ready to speak with the manager on duty, but my wife begged me not to make a scene. She asked me to just pay the check and leave, as to not cause a disturbance. So, that's what I did for her own comfort. I would advise anyone that eats here to be cautious about what they put in their mouth. read more

Stopped by this place for a late lunch while on our way to Nashville. This place is only 10-minute's drive off I-40 W. It seems to me this one is the best on Kingston Pike, which I feel like is home to a lot of ethnic food. Wait to be seated after you follow the sign and enter from the front entrance. When you finish, you will need to take your check and pay at the window at the entrance. You may need to stand and wait in line to pay when it's busy. The inside is quite spacious. And it's clean with a score of 99 from Tennessee Department of Health. The service is good and speedy. The food is good, too. I had 11B pho (beef brisket and tendon) and the Vietnamese pork sandwich, which is #34. Both are among the best I've had. I can see why it's popular on Yelp Knoxville. read more

I dropped in for a late lunch this weekend on the recommendation of a friend. I'm very glad I did. What isn't better with some peanut sauce? The place is bare bones and the walls are covered in notices not to let children run wild. I approve of that sentiment regardless of the safety risks of hot pho. I ordered shrimp spring rolls (for the peanut sauce mainly). Very good, very fresh. I then had the Bun tofu for my main dish - vermicelli with tofu. Everything was very fresh and the tofu was prepared well. The flavor was subtle, but there was plum sauce, garlic chili and sriracha on the table to add to the fish sauce. My favorite place in Knoxville for Vietnamese food. They have the most generous portions for both pho and spring rolls. Everything is delicious and fresh. Also, the service is great. Everyone was friendly and it was very quick and efficient. They were accommodating as well when I mentioned I couldn't have raw bean sprouts due to being pregnant. Knoxville has a small Vietnamese population so it makes sense the established restaurants would cater to the "American" taste, which explains the phenomenal reviews Bida has. The people of Knoxville just don't know what they're missing out on. Don't get me wrong, there are a few (very few) highlights that Bida possesses but overall I am not too impressed. I've visited about 5 times already, each time ordering a different dish to really examine the dynamics of the menu. I'll get to the point and say that the pho was a little too sweet for my liking but at the same time bland. The bun bo hue is in no way like the traditional dish, which is disappointing because it happens to be my favorite. The hu tieu wonton is by far my absolute favorite with the broth possessing all the right seasonings; however, I was taken aback with the small tiny shrimp they used in in the dish as if they used the ones packaged in frozen bulks. For a restaurant that's had so much positive exposure, I expected more from Bida. The service (at least each time I went) was very, very mediocre. My servers just seemed very uninterested to be there and disconnected from the place. Now I don't expect them to have a full on conversation but a simple smile and couple questions of how the food went would've been nice. Seeing this is one of the very few Vietnamese restaurants Knoxville has, Ill definitely be back. I just hope they tweak a few things up eventually. read more

Stopped by here for a quick Banh Mi and some smoothies to go. I've been here many times. Sometimes it's very good, others times not so. They aren't very consistent based on my experiences, but regardless... they are still the best spot in Knoxville for Vietnamese. I normally dine in, but being that my order was take out... I was able to peek more into the kitchen as I was placing and paying for my order. I will not get into details because I don't want anybody getting in trouble.... but man, how do they get away with some of the things they do? Anyway, back to my good. Banh mi was good. Too much liquid seasoning, and no jalapeños... but still good. Smoothies were excellent! Not too sweet, done right and the amount you get for the money is amazing. I'd still recommend this place... just their staff is hit or miss, seems like they hire the most random bunch... but for myself I'd only go here if I was absolutely craving Vietnamese and in Knoxville. read more

This is one of the two go-to pho places in Knoxville for me (in addition to Pho 99). The pho broth here is decent and what you expect in a very standard bowl of pho. I got #11 which is the rare beef & brisket and it was enough to fill me up for dinner. The beef was very dry and tough making it hard to chew. Usually pho restaurants would give out the beef still kinda raw but when my bowl came out, it was fully cooked and very dry. Being Vietnamese, I've had my fair share of Viet restaurants around the country so I'm pretty harsh when it comes to rating pho, so this honestly isn't bad for a smaller town like Knoxville. The environment is very nice and cozy so I will give them that. Service was very prompt in taking our orders and serving them. The waitress didn't come by once to refill our water in the hour my friends and I were there though. I didn't really like how all our checks came out literally a minute after we got our food as if they're trying to rush us out. Bida Saigon is my go-to place for summer rolls. Their shrimp summer rolls with cilantro and their peanut dipping sauce is absolutely to die for! So good! Their pho is also good. I am not one to really seek out pho, but when me and my friend go, we generally order one order of summer rolls, a bowl of pho with an extra empty bowl, and one bahn-mi sandwich and split everything. I am always surprised by how much I really like the pho. The extra add-ins they bring and have on the table are really great. Their chili sauce is spicy and amazing. If you like bah-mi sandwiches, theirs are really good. The ingredients are fresh and the bread is crisp. Also, they are really cheap! However, this is a place to go and savor flavorful food. Some of the best Pho I've had. Good prices, great portions and the waitstaff is always very friendly and attentive. I had the Rare Beef and my sister tried the Rare Beef + Brisket combo. The noodles and meat portions were plenty, as well as the limes, sprouts, basil and fresh jalapeño that came on the side. With all the sauces and garnishes they have available, you can have your Pho the way you want, and that's beautiful. As for non Pho items, my sister and I split some egg rolls- very fresh and very delicious. My friend got a crepe which looked amazing and judging from her empty plate, it was as good as it looked.
