Just eggs and bacon

Getting to Bienvenue on a Sunday morning was a little underwhelming. What brunch place is dead on Sunday morning? I liked the vibes - the low volume music, the wood accents - but there were hardly any other people. The reason for that, I can only assume, is the food. Everything was fine - nothing actively bad and each item was fairly well cooked - but it was all under seasoned. The best thing was the toast followed by the crab cake Benedict. But overall everything seemed pretty under salted. So it is probably a great place to go if you're watching your salt intake.

Crab cake on the bottom; shrimp wrap on left; steak sandwich on right; fried catfish on top

Okay, off the bat, I would've never thought to go here only because it's in the middle of nowhere. HOWEVER, it was freaking so good! This restaurant is like a Cajun Creole concept family friendly type. Definitely something for those days you don't want to cook. The service was good, fast and efficient. Food was comforting especially the steak sandwich. It wasn't a typical steak sandwich, shaved steak pressed but it was phenomenal with the au jus. I could've drank that au jus. Next, the catfish were fried to perfection and the crab cakes were FIRE! I don't usually love crab cakes so this is saying a lot.

This place gave us a great surprise . First of all,I was having a bad day and they had to deal with my sad face hahaha but the service was really good, the place has new orleans art elements and overall a family calm ambiance. We had the onion rings which were GREAT. My husband had the steak dinner, great flavor, good portion ...but our wao moment was with the new orleans wrap..OMG! Firm and fresh wrap filled with rice and beans and a good portion of fried chicken and sausage...new orleans in a wrap. Great flavour, the wrap fills you up cause it's actually FULL of the rice and beans, the chicken is white meat with a thin fried layer and delicious sausage, great fries as well. Really good price for the portions.the staff is really nice and fast service. I absolutely LOVED it

Crawfish beignet and blue crab, spinach, and artichoke au gratin

I came here for brunch this past weekend with a few friends. Crawfish beignets and blue crab, spinach, and artichoke gratin... PERFECTION. The crab cake Benedict was yummy. My biggest disappointment of the dish was the poached eggs. They weren't runny and weren't actually poached. They were cooked in what seemed like a a ramekin. The side was enough potatoes to serve a small family, but they were nice and crispy. I ordered a mimosa but it tasted like 90% orange juice, which was unfortunate. Overall, it was a good meal and the appetizers blew my mind with deliciousness.

This was my first time checking out this restaurant. First I ordered the shrimp étouffée. The roux was a seasoned well, but a bit too salty for me. I didn't try the catfish platter with french fries and garlic bread. That was pretty tasty. My mom ordered the oyster po-boy which she enjoyed. The service was really good. I wanted something to drink that wasn't on the menu and my waitress offered to make it for me. I will be back.

This place was delicious. The Marrone sandwich is amazing. The 12 inch is enough for two people to share. The onion rings were spot on. Crab cakes are way more crab than stuffing. Previous visits I have gotten the the hamburger steak which was fine and the big easy wrap similar to what Popeyes use to have. Hubby got the voodoo shrimp and grits and said it was pretty good. Would definitely go back.

Swiss shroom burger with fries

This place was pretty decent! Came here for lunch and I had the Swiss shroom burger with a side of fries while my husband had the jambalaya pasta. The burger was delicious to me - cooked perfectly to medium rare as I requested but the fries were a little too crunchy and fried to me. And that's not to say that others wouldn't like them, they're just not my preference of fries. The jambalaya pasta was very liquidy and cheesy but again, not to say others wouldn't like that but just not our preference. All in all, it's a good place and the service was great. Very nice people and I can see the hospitality of the family owned business there. Definitely a place I feel like we could come back to soon!

Beinvenue Salad

In NOLA for 4 days this place was close to our RV park. The Service was top notch the Bienvenue Salad was so good I'd definitely get that again and the bam bam shrimp wrap was pretty tasty. Beer was cold and fries were hot. We'd go back if in the area.

Catch Noel

Highly recommend! Visiting on business staying in "airport" hotel. This quaint little restaurant has a family feel, great service and a place I would definitely return to. I had the crab and corn chowder as well as the Catch Noel (which happened to be speckled trout tonight). Both were very flavorful and excellent! The roasted veggies some of the best I've ever tasted! Thanks for a great experience Jimmy! Nice to meet you!

New Orleans wrap with sweet potato fries
Lacey D.

I had a pretty solid meal here for a weekday lunch. My husband and I got: the bang bang shrimp wrap with Mac and cheese and the New Orleans wrap with sweet potato fries. The shrimp wrap was very tasty and the Mac and cheese is delicious. The New Orleans wrap was just okay. A lot of red beans and rice, which made the chicken soggy. The sweet potato fries were good. My main dislike was that on the side of each piece of wrap there was this one-inch thick piece of just rolled up tortilla, which so just left on the plate. The service was good and safety measures were in place.

Hello, at one point this establishment had a piano night. Does that still happen and if so what time and days do the piano musicians play? Thanks, yelp world!

We do not have live music at the point. We may put back in place in the fall.

I went with the half oyster po-boy and gumbo combo. The sandwich turned out pretty well, with a good amount of fried oysters that were clearly cooked fresh rather than sitting for a while. Pretty good bread too. The gumbo was a disappointment though. I guess I've spent too much time on the bayou down through the years, because anytime a bowl of gumbo shows up without a scoop of potato salad in it I'm disappointed. Worse still, this gumbo was flavorless, bland and completely lacking of spice. Were it not for the dark color, I would have not been able to tell the difference between this and the sort of store-bought gumbo that comes from a can. The server kept an eye on me and my drink of choice, so props for that. Also, beware going to the restroom here, as the door doesn't seem to lock.

I came back last night really excited to have it again, but unfortunately, it just didn't live up to that first experience. My boyfriend comes all the time but this was my first visit and it was a pleasure. This time around, the portion seemed noticeably different this time around. There was a lot less shrimp, the sauce had the same Cajun flavor but was clumpy as if old and the crab cake we ordered--something we also loved on our last visit--was much smaller, but increased from $5 to $8. For a place in New Orleans, where the food scene is such a huge draw, that was pretty disappointing. That said, not everything missed the mark. Ashley, the bartender, was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and really added to the experience. Also, the gentleman opening the door was incredibly kind and welcoming. Their hospitality ended up being the highlight of the visit. I still have great memories from my first time here, but this visit just didn't hit the same. Hoping it was an off night. I spoke with the manager Kelly on the same day of service but I was not satisfied with the resolution of offering a free appetizer on my next visit when purchasing an entree. Sad to say but that was my last visit. Kelly was really nice and listened but maybe her hands are tied with how the restaurant is ran and what she can offer. I didn't need a refund or a total order replacement but something else could've been recommended. $30 is a steep price for 9 shrimp in a pasta that was clunky/lumpy and not smooth as times in the past. Maybe it was because it was a togo order but most of my orders from this business had been to go, not all but most. In all, this falls on the chef that prepared this meal and I was informed by Kelly that the chef started everything was weighed and correctly accounted for however it was the cook on the pasta and lack of shrimp. Our waiter, Jonathan, made the experience unforgettable. He took the time to sit down with us, walk us through the menu, and share his recommendations--and every single one was spot on. We ordered the blackened redfish, catfish, gumbo, savory cheesecake, bread pudding, and vanilla bean crème brûlée. Every dish was outstanding! And we can't forget the cornbread--the aroma of warm butter hits you the moment it's placed on your table. It was the perfect way to start the meal. What really stood out was the staff. Every waiter worked together as a team, helping one another and creating such a fun, welcoming atmosphere. One restaurant that locals constantly recommended to me was Drago's Seafood in Metairie, and now I completely understand why. I ordered the charbroiled oysters along with the crawfish platter that came with crawfish étouffée, crawfish mac and cheese, and fried crawfish. Every single thing on the table was incredible. The charbroiled oysters absolutely lived up to the hype rich, buttery, smoky, and packed with flavor. The crawfish platter was just as impressive and gave me a chance to try multiple Louisiana dishes all in one meal. What really stood out to me beyond the food was the service. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with questions from someone who isn't from Louisiana and still learning the local food scene. You can tell they take pride in both the restaurant and the hospitality. The only downside is parking can get a little complicated because the place fills up fast, which honestly says a lot about how popular it is. Just plan ahead or expect a short wait finding a spot. Buttery and garlicky, the crusty bread they serve with them is a great compliment to soak up the sauce. I had originally intended on getting the chicken and andouille gumbo but Darryl steered me away from it, he said it was very salty. I trusted his word and went with the seafood gumbo instead and was very pleased with it. The flavors were fantastic, but I am gonna ding it ever so slightly as I think $8.99 is kind of an obscene price for that serving size, but at least it was good. Overall I'm very satisfied with my lunch and the service, I think if you like seafood and you're in their area, you should eat here. Edit - $9 for a pint is a little over the top too, imo.
